Good haircut.

Ds has been done by a hairdresser. HE looks like he should have a kappa tracksuit on.

castlesintheair · 12/11/2010 17:05

Ah the mullett Am personally responsible for transforming the sex-life of many a young Australian male in the early 90s by hacking them off. The mullett that is.

Indith · 14/11/2010 16:38

I have visions of castles as a dominatrix hacking hair of bemused surfers.

I am going to kill ds. The child started off with a poo in his pants at the village coffee morning yesterday and by the end of the day had been through about 6 pairs. On his 4th pair today I think.

It will, Indith. Sounds all too much, what with hair cuts and poos - top to toe too much! Chocolate?

Thanks, AQ. I'm so glad you got some time-off, even if you did have to pay for it with floors! When we moved house, I had panic attacks for two weeks (not straight away, only after I'd had so much adrenaline for 4 weeks I couldn't remember how to calm down) and thought a lot about you and Castles, and hats off: it was awful. I had high blood pressure too, which added to the panic - now medicated.

Just had ultra lazy weekend and feel almost normal, though still itchy - last week I totally overdid things and felt horrible again. Shingle recovery is like watching paint dry Hmm Most importantly, poor dd1 has been having awful time crying at school, unsettled by me being ill for so long - and I've enough energy back to do the loving/tough thing she needs so badly in order to go into class with a smile on her face. It was v v Sad for a few days back there, am much relieved Smile

Jabber, I know about the vaccine but imagine its too late? I think once you've had it once (yes, first time) you're meant to have renewed immunity for a while, no?

MNT, thinking of your dd and hoping she'll be ok this week - does sound both confusing and worrying/upsetting, poor mite.

Castles, sorry to hear about the car and Envy to hear about the Spa!! Nothing better than losing track of time wrapped in a fluffy white bathrobe smelling of essential oils...

Come to think of it, what a great venue for a meet up...

Elibean · 14/11/2010 19:31

Missed the mullets Grin

Castles. I have to ask. WHY were you chopping mullets off young Australian males?! Apart from the obvious fact that they look much better without them?

castlesintheair · 14/11/2010 20:09

It was one of the ways I earned a living whilst bumming living abroad: I used to charge 5 bucks for it. Those were the days

I think a spa meet up sound's like a very good idea Elibean Grin Sorry to hear about DD but glad she is calmer now. They are very sensitive little things aren't they?

Poor Indith, it's very frustrating for you. Have you spoken to your HV at all?

Just off to mate's house to talk about the effing school Xmas ball. TG it's on 26th Nov and life can return to it's normal chaos after then.

Elibean · 15/11/2010 17:46

Curious to hear the other ways Grin

Yes, sensitive they are. dd1 was always a mumma's girl, she hates me not being ok.

As for Xmas Balls, I have exact same feelings about Xmas Fairs! Sympathies. Shingles is good for backing off multiple responsibilities, if nothing else Wink

accessorizequeen · 15/11/2010 20:16

MNT/Eli, hope dds continue to look up. iykwim. Full of cold, brain not working.
Indith, Sad argggh. You know I know exactly what it's like, pls email me if you want to (jabber's been through all this as well and out the other side unlike me). Although not great example as ds1 has been doing this for nearly 4 years now. He's quite poorly with throat infection right now that I haven't noticed soiling though tbh! Biscuit
Castles, Grin and Shock at aussie men losing their mullets to you. Cheers, mate! Sorry you are still having panic attacks, what about the fainting? Still, v pleased for you going to spa!
Eli, pls do keep taking care of yourself, xmas round the corner and that all gets stressful easily enough.
I note Lenni not showing her face after saying on FB she is all wrapped for xmas & birthdays (grrrrr, Lenni! Smile) I'm not even sure where everything is to wrap it! Dp's boot probably...

SatinShoes · 16/11/2010 14:08

remember this name? have got it out of retirement as a bit more Christmassy than Totoro.

How is eveyone today?

Indith · 16/11/2010 15:26

Oooh lovely. I do love a nice pair of shoes.

Went into town with dd while ds is at nursery thinking I would get more done. That girl does a good line in "throw self to floor in the middle of the shop and scream".

AQ I am going to try the marble jar reward thing (a chart didn't work at all) and if that fails then I'll see what the HV has to say. I doubt they will say much though. When he wets or soils I just tell him to take his trousers and pants off and put them in the washing machine (wet) or nappy bucket (soiled), help him to wipe if needed and send him to get clean pants so I don't give attention etc (except at the end of the day when he has gone through all his clean trousers and I am fed up, then I have been known to shout). It obviously isn't a medical problem since he is fine when we are out in town or at toddlers so there is nothing to be done there and in any case they don't take action until they are a fair bit older really. I am just hoping it will pass. Was talking to a mum at toddler the other day and her elder dd was just the same, saved it up and leaked in bits to take the edge off. She still did it when she started school but she is 6 now and doesn't. though her mum says she still eaves going until she is desperate, she is just old enough to realise that going in little leaks in your pants makes you smell!

I'm doing the nursery drop off next week instead of dh so will prob chat t them because although he has stopped having big accidents at nursery I have noticed he smells when he gets home so he is obviously doing the little leaks but they don't notice it.

Poundland have some fab Christmas cards in at the moment if anyone interested, boxes of 25/30 cards, bargain :)

jabberwocky · 17/11/2010 03:24

Eli, check with your doctor, but my understanding is that there is no protection from a future outbreak after an initial shingles attack. In the US they are only giving the vaccine to patients over 60 as a rule but if you have already had shingles I would imagine you could be a candidate.

Indith, with my previous experience in this I think you really need to consider whether your ds has a fecal impaction. Age 3 is the most common and boys more often than girls. If so, the longer it goes on, the more colon rehabilitation you have to do. In our case it was a full two years. Ds1 still wears a pullup at night for wetness whereas he had dry nights before (not sure how that really ties in but presumably it does a bit Confused) but the poo problems have not been an issue. My first recommendation - cod liver oil. Get a good one that is trusted mercury-free and do a teaspoon a day. I still give it to both boys. I put the oil in one juice glass and some strawberry syrup in another then draw up a half and half mixture in an oral syringe. Probiotics in applesauce is also good. You need the refrigerated kind that has good bacteria in 5 billion or more.

jabberwocky · 17/11/2010 03:31

Oh, and a silly addendum here. I have put up my engagment ring from bipolar ex-p on ebay. Lots of bids, reserve not met yet but over 150 views and 5 days to go. If it sells I'm putting the money in our summer vacation fund Grin

Indith · 17/11/2010 11:15

Hope it sells well Jabber!

Ds does not have a fecal impaction. We did have problems with constipation/impaction that went on a bit but thanks to having read about your and AQ's problems I was onto it pretty quickly and dragged him to the Dr and stamped my feet every time we started getting overflow. Eventually we got given fibrogel which was very effective. He had problems on and off for ages but after a few weeks of fibrogel he was sorted and even though we are off it now he has no problems, good, normal poos on a regular basis :). I expect some of the issues do stem from having had problems for a long time but like I said before he is absolutely fine when we are out. At toddlers or while shopping he tells me he needs a wee, holds on until we find the loo and goes no problem. He also came home from nursery having had no accidents and his trousers did not smell of wee for once so there had been no leaking which leaves us with pure bloody minededness at home Hmm

jabberwocky · 17/11/2010 13:51

lol at bloody mindedness! Glad to hear that there's no impaction at least.
Maybe the new rewards idea will work. What carrot have you decided to dangle when he gets enough marbles?

Indith · 17/11/2010 16:14

probably a new lego model, he is obsessed :). Need to find some marbles/big beads first!

accessorizequeen · 17/11/2010 20:16

ooh, jabber, hope you get lucky! Little xmas bonus...Is it ds2's birthday next btw, you're first aren't you? Then Eli, then I can't remember...
I am very excited about ds2's birthday, so is he. Taking him to build-a-bear, he doesn't even know and he's all a-quiver. He's really not interested in lego thank god as would be competition for ds1's mountain of it and I'd have to get more. DS1 getting meccano this year, what's the betting I'll be rubbish at that too?
Indith, hope the marble jar works. Good advice my paed dad gave me was to give them something achievable to start with e.g. if he doesn't soil at toddler group he gets a marble, rather than you get a marble if you don't soil all day. Little steps. Obviously great advice but we are rubbish at implementing it as he's still going! urgh.
Twirls back at SatinShoes :)

jabberwocky · 18/11/2010 00:37

I put the ebay listing on our FB group wall. I had a lot of interest at first and now it's gone quiet so we'll see if reserve gets met or not.

I think ds2 is the first. It's the 22nd which is always tricky being so close to Thanksgiving. This year I decided that since he wants every toy he sees I am just going to give him a set number of dollar bills to spend at Toys r Us next Sunday. We're going to have a bowling party about 2 weeks after his actual birthday. The bowling alley puts gutter rails up so the kids never get a gutter ball and there's even a little slide thingy for the ball if they want to use that. Cake etc. is all included so I'm definitely taking the lazy way out on this one!

jabberwocky · 18/11/2010 00:40

oops, I took it off. It showed up on my wall and I wasn't sure if other people could see it. Can't remember FB form on that. I was thinking our group is private though.

Indith · 18/11/2010 08:12

If you put something up in our group it will show on your wall and on your newsfeed but not for other people who are not in our group so I could look at your profile and see it on your wall but my sister could look at your profile and not see it. If you hover your mouse over the padlock under the post it should show what security settings that particular post is on.

jabberwocky · 18/11/2010 13:47

oh, gotcha. Thanks Indith! I didn't want all my friends to know about it iykwim. Will put it back up and curious to see if you guys think I should add anything else. It got lots of activity when I first posted it then nothing for 2 days. Of course, I know I never bid until the end and it does have a reserve. Still... I can't keep from checking every day Blush

Indith · 18/11/2010 16:19

beautiful Jabber.

Indith · 18/11/2010 16:50

pomBear anyone?

castlesintheair · 18/11/2010 17:13

accessorizequeen · 18/11/2010 19:20
