I must have killed it with all that talk of smear tests yesterday!

Had first tears at Pre-school drop off this morning. I feel awful leaving him there crying.

Suspect he'll be OK once they're allowed to play outside though. They'll ring if not and I'm a 5 minute jog away and Catherine's already in the buggy as she fell asleep on the way home.

Hello everyone! I've been spending my days chasing Imogen around and retrieving her from various places around my house where she's got to! It's exhausting I can't get anything done - currently I've entrapped her in a jumperoo... She has very helpfully been finding all the bits of dust and other things that I have clearly failed to sweep up for me - they are like a magnet to her. My laptop wire is a favourite, the moment she sees it she's off like a race to get there! We have a small coffee table that square and has two sides that afer solid so it's a bit like a tunnel - Imogen has enjoyed going through that this morning which was funny and her face was hilarious! I have how discovered just how dirty my floors are - her clothes are filthy after and good wriggle around!!!

Weaning is going well, she's got chewing sorted and is starting to swallow more and more food now if its not too big, or if she hasn't stuffed too much in her mouth in one go.

I've had a couple of days at work which has been fine - I've actually really enjoyed them and it's made me remember how much I enjoyed my workplace before so now I'm not teary any more about going back which is good. Imogen was absolutely fine and when I came back wasn't really that bothered!!!

She's taken to the bottle well now, although she never has much in one go so we still have two feeds in the night (but now bottle only) so I have finished bf completely. The transition has taken about 4/5 weeks in total and I have only had one sad moment about it in the last week and I think going back to work has been good for me in that respect.

There you, go that's enough waffle from me! Hope everyone else is well and looking forward to the sunny weekend...

x-post Al - sorry to hear about the tears. I'm sure you're right and he'll be OK in a little while. Have some chocolate?

Al, Im sure Alex is happily playing away. Jake often would be teary. He's not happy when he goes in at the moment because "all the big kids are there" He is one of the younger ones and the older ones had an induction day at their schools and on that day the newbies came to the nursery for their induction and Jake thought it was great, the teachers said he really enjoyed it. So every morning he asks me if they are going to be there and I keep having to say not today! Bless him!

The past two nights Elizabeth has been evil. Waking up and crying every half hour to an hour. All she needs is a dummy plug-in but we're getting no full sleep. Apart from drugging her im at a loss of what to do! Ive tried 10pm top-up feed. Changing nappy. It doesnt help that when we put her down it's still quite warm but then the temperature drops in the night so she must be getting a bit cold. She wont have a grobag anymore because she likes to kick and sleep on her side. Ahhhh!

Ive got a cleaner! (my elder sister, pay her 20 quid a week lol!) So right now im sitting in a very clean and tidy flat with nothing to do and am able to guilt free mumsnet!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 08/07/2010 09:43

Glad work is going well for you hendo. My one day was fine, I enjoyed winding my boss up by telling customers it was my first day ever and my boss is really evil and makes me do actual work, all whilst he is standing next to us! Customers faces were like this at the thought of me being new and bad-mouthing the boss in front of him!!
My Tshirt wasnt to bad. There was one little girl who I thought for a minute was going to steal it off my back but thankfully she got told off by her mum for following me behind the till area! I was able to satisfy her with a zingzillas competition leaflet!
Speaking of retail there is a thread in AIBU complaining about people in shops being too thick to work out percentages that has really got my goat. Grrr. It drives me mad how some people seem to think we are idiots just because we happen to work in a shop!

LaDiDaDi · 08/07/2010 10:01

Bet Alex will be fine, Al.

Lol at hendo's floors, ds's clothes will be black when he starts to crawl!

Sorry you are having a rubbish time with Elizabeth's sleep, ABF. No suggestions other than chanting the mantra "this too will pass"!

I've been thinking about going back to work in a more positive light recently. I honestly think it's weaning that's made me feel like this, I remember hating it with dd, the mess and the whole rigmarole of it all. Cleaning that bloody booster seat three times a day, Weetabix and milk = superglue!

Going to have an afternoon off today! My parents are going to collect dd from nursery at 12 and take her and ds to their house for lunch then to soft play. Have a million plans of things to do, some are quite dull but I do have some birthday vouchers to spend so I might do that . Hope my parents manage, my mum is very good and has put them both to bed here before but I'm an only child and was a lot quieter than dd so will see how she gets on though she will also have my dad there to help.

AlCrowley · 08/07/2010 10:10

I saw your comment on that thread ABF. Makes me mad too. My sister is amazingly clever and yet people often treat her like an idiot just because she works in a bookshop. I used to work my uni holidays in a pub and got treated the same. And don't get me started on the behaviour of people when I worked on an IT Helpdesk!!! Why ring me for help then get snarly and talk down to me?

LaDiDaDi · 08/07/2010 15:43

Been to the hairdressers on my free afternoon !

Had rang up a number that I found on google thinking it was the smart hairdresser on local parade of shops. Walked past it on the wayyo post office and realised that the name didn't match the one I'd googled. Asked in post office and they explained that it was above the newsagents so went back and was v. nervous. Hairdressers was literally in an 80's timewarp [eek]. But the two hairdressers were young and actually the one that did my hair has made a really good job, esp as it hadn't been cut since pre ds! Very pleased esp for the bargain price of 14pounds .

hendo77 · 08/07/2010 20:45

That is a bargain LaDiDaDi - glad you got a good haircut, I always find it a bit scary getting mine cut in case they decide they know best and do something funny with it!

Hope the helicopters aren't too near you still btw.

£14! That is truly bargainous!

Sorry about the sleep situation ABF, sure it will improve soon (fingers crossed.)

Catherine just drank from a Tommee Tippee cup!!!

Just water but it's the first time she's drunk anything that didn't come out of a boob!!

She didn't have much but she drank it willingly. Now wondering if I should try some EBF in it to see if having a night out might be a possibility sometime soon...

This was one of the basic ones too. One of Alex's old ones that I found in the cupboard. Might have to get her a couple of her own now...

Our one is an old lid popping off type - and green, SIL will not be impressed. She told me off yesterday for putting Catherine in Alex's old blue sleep suits. Apparently, because she is a gilr, she should have pink ones

Better get out and buy a pink one before...? before? I'm not sure but it must be bad.

hendo77 · 09/07/2010 23:47

Yay for Catherine drinking out the tommee tippee cup. We also have the one with the fold up/down spout her for water. Al, Imogen drank water from that first for a bit, then I started offering her milk from a bottle after solid food every meal (whilst still doing normal bf originally) and over a period of about 3 weeks she got better at drinking from it, so maybe hope there with the bottle? Your SIL wouldn't be impressed with me then - everything I have is definitely not pink unless it's been bought for me, but then I think I'm a bit obsessive about that to the extreme the other way!!!

Lee, I'm sure it will be fine once Andrew's on the move, my house is still completely baby unfriendly (although now quite a lot cleaner after my dust blitz last week), but I have just moved candles and stuff off the floor higher up and put some bean bags infront of a very wobbly set of shelves and of course put up the baby prison playpen.

Just back from our first night out together - whilst my parents babysat. Not very exciting, just went to the put at the end of our road with some friends but lovely to be out all the same. I feel a bit tiddly liberated!!!

That feeling of escape is bizarre isn't it!

Sunshine, I really hope that thisdoesn't come across as patronising but re the cup, have you thought of trying to turn the handles? I ask because I have one that I was moaning about being a waste of money because of that same problem. I showed it to my mother who pointed out that the handles rotated . The cup is fine now lol!

I'm sure that's the same as ds's .

LaDiDaDi · 10/07/2010 17:05

Have had a closer look at ds's cup. It is that explora one and the handles are, I think, meant to be locked in place BUT you can actually move them.

hendo77 · 10/07/2010 17:08

We've got one of those cups too I think. I think that you can only put the handles on and off in one place and I'm forever getting them stuck and so I gave up and used a cup like the one Al had instead! Once they are right down I think you can turn them, but it's quite tough on mine and I think you have to have the lid bit loosened slightly which means that I also found them difficult to line up, and then I had to try and twist them back into the right position to get them off again later! Does that make sense at all?

LaDiDaDi - the feeling of escape was bizarre, but in a good way I think.

How much milk do all the babies drink during the day? I'm struggling to get Imogen to drink a lot in any one go, but not sure if it's the weather or if she's just not used to having a lot where she was bf before. She's currently waking only twice in the night for milk and i'm trying not to let her have too much so that she'll drink more during the day, but it doesn't seem to make much difference! She also gets really easily distracted, but even in a quiet room she doesn't seem to have a lot in any one go.
