ABF - hope the shoe shopping went OK in the end!

Blathers - I agree with Lee, all good excuses. I haven't run in almost a year and a half I think now!

DH has gone away this morning for the week - not back until Saturday so fingers crossed for good sleep from Imogen this week.

I am wondering if all my marking I've left in the car will mark itself by tomorrow morning...?!?

Thanks for the tip about lactulose - we're using it and it seems to be helping a bit and Imogen also drank a few sips of water from her beaker again today with lunch so that's the first time in ages! Hopefully the start of her doing it all the time again.

Hope everyone else is having nice weekends - it's all a bit grey here today.

Blatherskite · 07/11/2010 16:24

Catherine decided to reward me by sleeping through until 6am this morning for the first time ever :)

She went down at 6.30 with no argument, slept through all the fireworks when usually she disturbs really easily and didn't wake up and yell at 5am! Really hoping it's a sign of things to come and not just a fluke!

HerculesPoirot · 07/11/2010 19:12

That's brilliant news blathers - fingers crossed you are right and it is a sign of things to come. Imogen on the other hand got woken up by fireworks at 8.30 and wouldn't go back to sleep until 10 pm. They were in a garden backing onto us and they had those really, really, loud ones so they were going off right by her window. I hope she doesn't do the same tonight, or this week when I'm on my own!

Blatherskite · 08/11/2010 15:42

Didn't work this morning though I'm afraid. We had another 5am and an hours screaming Sad

I think I might be a real Mumsnetter now though. SIL gave me 6 boxes of hand-me-downs for Catherine and there are quite a few bits of Boden Kids in there. Does it count if it's second hand? Grin

Apparently, there are another 6 boxes coming tonight!! I've got enough clothes to last until she's 3 now!!

LaDiDaDi · 08/11/2010 20:33

I've just finished 3 nights at work. Happily work was pretty quiet so I got some sleep each night shift. AIBU to be a bit pleased that ds kept up his usual crap sleeping pattern for dp? Feel that otherwise dp thinks that I exaggerate at times.

Good news on the clothes Blathers!

HerculesPoirot · 08/11/2010 21:10

Definitely not BU LaDi!

Bad news on the screaming Blathers, but good news on the clothes!

Imogen is 11 months old today - one month exactly until she is 1, cannot believe how fast it is all going...

Wow on all the clothes. I went to sainsbo's yesterday and bought Elizabeth aload of clothes, they have 25% off all clothing. So got 2 big bags full for about 50 quid. All off them are age 1 to 1 and a half so slightly too big, so they should hopefully last her!

Remember I told you lot about my sister getting married? She told me about having unprotected sex for the first time and mentioned she was feeling a bit off. I told her to take a pregnancy test and it turns out she's pregnant! They had unprotected sex once and she ends up up the duff!
So that's both my sisters pregnant, im feeling kinda broody! Wink

Blatherskite · 09/11/2010 08:02

Lol. That's pretty much what happened to me. I'd had a miscarriage a few weeks before I fell pregnant with Catherine. I didn't think I was ready to try again yet and was trying to avoid a December baby but one, solitary accident and, well here we are! And I wouldn't change it for the world :)

Congratulations on another niece/nephew ABF.

My sister has decided that she wants to be pregnant again before she goes back after maternity leave!! Shock

HerculesPoirot · 09/11/2010 20:16

Lee - unfortunately the marking didn't do itself, so I'll have twice as much to do next week now.

I am definitely feeling broody now, lots of pregnant friends around! What a happy accident Blathers!

I've got no time to be broody. It seems my second born is a reincarnation of Harry Houdini!!

Just this week, she has worked out how to escape lap straps so she can now get out of her highchair and climb onto the table! I had to buy a new reins type harness last night to hold her in. The lap strap escaping also means she can get out of shopping trolleys now and on Monday she took advantage of me being buy packing bags and was halfway onto the checkout when I spotted her!! Going to have to take the reins shopping from now on and tie her into the seat. She's also gone from having no interest in the stairs to climbing them. I popped upstairs for seconds to get a jumper this morning and found her 3 steps up when I turned round. Our house is tiny so I wasn't gone more than a few seconds either Shock

I wouldn't be too worried about no crawling Lee. One of Alex's friends didn't crawl or walk until way after the others. She was quite happy to sit and watch them all tearing around - we were so jealous! She crawled at about 14 months I think and walked at 17. She's no different to the rest of them now.

Can he sit? I think I'd only be concerned if he was doing nothing but laying on his back all the time.

In that case, I would say he's just like Alex's friend and just likes watching and taking everything in. She loved to sit reading books and listening to the adults rather than running round with the others and she is a very clever little girl as a result :)

We were all so envious when her Mum got to sit and play with her quietly while we were all tearing around after ours!!

Highchair straps are working a treat. She's well and truly stuck now Grin

Lee - I agree just enjoy it, it sounds like he is is physically able, but maybe hasn't had the need yet to do it himself yet. Perhaps he'll just go straight to walking at some point instead.

Catherine does sound like a little escape artiste! Glad the straps are working for you.

Thanks again for all telling me about the foods you were giving your babies - I feel much more positive about the whole weaning thing again. Imogen can actually more or less eat anything I have discovered - both shop bought stuff that's chunky and lumpy and home made stuff that is definitely chunky! She has also finally mastered raisins today, although obviously once she's had enough throwing them off the highchair onto the floor one by one is hilarious!

Only two more nights before dh is back on saturday morning... it's been fine so far, but can't wait as its always mentally exhausting being on duty alone for the whole week I find!

Blatherskite · 12/11/2010 11:07

Straps have broken - it's back to baby catching for me!

Alex is poorly again. He's got what I've got and is struggling. Had a temp over almost 40 again last night. Calpol and Nurofen are working their magic though and he seems fine at the moment.

Currently awaiting family blow up. DH created an online forum for everyone to discuss things like what Christmas presents the nieces and nephews wanted and organisation for holiday etc a while ago. Obviously at the moment, there are Christmas list threads on there. One is a list of things PIL would like Hmm After their lists of Slow cookers and uber poncey steak knives are "amusing" comments by their children. DH has said they're too old for Christmas now. SILs have commented on how they'll be buying them Tena pants and other old age related items (PILs are in their late 50's/early 60's so not that old!) Last comment is from SIL saying she would buy them "tickets to Switzerland"!!! Shock

Now I know my Mum would be VERY upset at reading something like that and I can't imagine MIL laughing it off so I'm just awaiting the fallout now. Am very glad we're going to my Mum's for Xmas now :)

They were just a bit rubbish I think. The bits that should guide the clips into where they're supposed to be have crumbled and it's jammed shut. Had to loosen the straps to get her out!

Alex's temp still high. Doctor seemed to think I should just keep up the Calpol/Nurofen till Monday and then bring him back if still bad but I'm worried. He's been near 40 degrees all day when not recently dosed

HerculesPoirot · 12/11/2010 19:21

Lee that's brilliant - well done Andrew on the crawling! What a good idea with the breadstick!!! See, I think I was right and he just had not need to do it before, now obviously for food, that's a different matter!

Poor Alex, blathers I hope his temperature comes down soon. Those straps don't sound very sturdy!

Last 13 hours until dh comes home - can't wait! The house looks like a tornado has ripped through it.

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 12/11/2010 22:51

Hi, all sorry not been on for ages, had a busy few days! anna is fine, although she has been in the wars today. she is normally really steady on her feet, but today, has fallen over 3 times and banged her head. the last time she was standing up against the coffee table and somehow fell down and really bumped her forehead, just above her eye. almost immediately she got a blue line above her eye so think she is going to have a massive bruise tomorrow. Sad

It's DH's birthday tomorrow so going out for a meal with friends and got a girl from down our little street baby sitting for us! EEk! She came round the other night to meet us, and have primed my neighbour too to keep an eye out for us, so hopefully it'll be ok. Looking forward to DH's birthday though; been shopping today and bought him some nice pressies so hopefully he'll enjoy his day. he has just gone up to bed and said to me, 'i'll give you chance to put all the balloons and trimmings up'....mmmm, perhaps not! Grin

we are off work next week, so off back across to St Anne's for a few days.Looking forward to having a bit of a relax, although got IL's coming for a night to see us so not sure quite how relaxing that'll be!?!?!

Can anyone help me with what to do about cutting down day time bottles pls. Currently A has one when she wakes up, one at 10ish, one at 2ish and then one at about 5pm. when should i be cutting out some of the day time feeds? we are still BLW and most of the time she eats quite a bit...

hope you are all well. it's been good catching up on all your news! :)

HerculesPoirot · 13/11/2010 08:23

FINALLY!!!!!! Imogen has slept through the night from just before 7 pm last night until 7.30 this morning then chatted to herself quite happily for 20 minutes!!!!!!! Guess what she had with her dinner last night - yorkshire puddings....

Ethelred poor Anna and the falling, Imogen goes through phases like that I think they get more confident and don't concentrate and fall more. With the milk feed we've just dropped one last week and did it by bringing lunch earlier. We dropped the one at 10 so we now do bottle when she wakes up then breakfast about half an hour to an hour later. Lunch now at about 12/12.30. Then she usually sleeps and has another bottle when she gets up which is between 2 and 3 sometime and then dinner at 5.30 on days I'm not working and then bottle before bed.

Blatherskite · 13/11/2010 14:07

Ah the magical Yorkshire puddings Grin

HerculesPoirot · 13/11/2010 17:40

Oh yes, yorkshire puddings currenty being consumed again... just in case...
