Thought the title might be appropriate for both mums and babies

Hello everyone

It's another beautiful day here, shame we will be mostly painting and putttng stuff in the loft...

Wow more fame for Red

Sorry to hear you're feeling so glum TS Sounds like fathers day bummed out for a few; I think DH enjoyed his, poor man was mainly painting whilst I entertained the DC in the garden. Made up for it with butterflied leg of lamb with garlic lime and thyme

Sazz I would be hard-pressed to find 35 people to invite to a party (apart from you lot obv!) I'm sure it will be fantastic anyway

hotterpotter · 21/06/2010 08:32

Cyteen those are wise words.

CrispyTheCrisp · 21/06/2010 09:19

LOL HOts DH spent the whole day pruning trees and dealing with the inevitable pile of greenery, 4 times larger than the original tree

He was rewarded with roast chicken, new potatoes, red/yellow pepper salsa & salad

TS {{{{{big hugs to you}}}}. We all get complacent I agree and it is easy to retire to your own 'corner' and do stuff. Also here DH will rarely instigate doing something 'different' (see Dizz and my posts above}. Last night was a treat actually as we had moved the bench in the garden to a different spot (due to the pruning going on) and found it had a nice view. I went and sat up there with a glass of wine after the DD's were in bed and DH came and joined me. We then sat for 2hrs chatting which was lovely.

I think we were as Cyteen said, far enough away from everything for us to actually talk properly. I think it is one of the reasons i like camping as we all get away from the 'norm' have a fab time in the day and DHH and i talk and play cards at night.

Anyhooo, sorry for my ramblings and not being any help at all , but please remember you are a beautiful, intelligent, intuitive and strong woman and DH would do well to remember that. I will come over and kick his butt as and when necessary. Please advise on timings etc

Laters Ladies, have to run to Playgroup which starts at 9.15. Oops.........

GladioliBuckets · 21/06/2010 09:26

Dizz Just briefly give him the 5 most obvious points and email them back saying sorry that's all you have time for. Is probably all he's expecting anyway (bet you were planning to spend hours re-doing the whole thing for him and agonising about not hurting his feelings - am I right?)

Fab Father's Day here with v little effort from me. We all went swimming with BIL, SIL & baby niece, Kurt finally relaxed and enjoyed himself in the water. Then lunch outside a gorgeous kid-friendly pub I'd never heard of (but SIL just doesn't speak so not quite as much fun as it could have been) then me & DD popped round the corner to nose in our friends' new house. I have finished my 2nd knitted character which has surprised me by materialising a black quiff and sideburns during the making of.

luckoftheirish · 21/06/2010 10:40

Hugs ts know right where you are coming from but my only advice would be talk talk talk. Me and h stopped doing that and now we are in a right old mess

sazz 35 sounds like a lovely number tho at those agreeing and then pulling out. I would ask more if you want to as you never know you maybe dying for an invite to your lovely do

dizzy agree with buckets you are waaay to busy so a 5 point plan is the way forward

well little dd2 has a temp today and is miserable not really sure what's wrong but she is really quiet and not her happy chirpy self. Dd1 demanded that she stay home as her sister needed her no chance!!!

TwilightSurfer · 21/06/2010 11:54

Lucky how very sweet, sisterly love already. I hope the fever passes quickly.

Sazzles I seem to have the opposite luck with parties. I would invite 50 and get 75 without any warning. A smaller group and lots of food should be perfect. I am, however, working on a teleporter so we can pop over and add 4 more to your festivities.

Hotter I tried to channel your home painting vibe this weekend. All I achieved though was washing some crayon off a few walls. Soon! I will freshen up some walls SOON!!

Thank you for your kindness. DH & I had a calm come to Jesus last night after putting the girls to bed. It started to go in a petty, bad direction but thankfully I'd given myself time so regrouping was easy enough. He heard me out and I listened to him. So many different elements come into play with regard to relationships at this stage in life. It's all good and feels nice to have the crap on the table more or less.

Off to have a SazzleBusyDay.

TwilightSurfer · 21/06/2010 13:39

Murphey's Law: You plan it. Something $@#&% it up.

Today. Summer Solstice. Perfect Weather. DD1's waited 2 months for tennis clinic at the Racquet Club to start. Today is day one. Plans were to go play tennis then go hang out at the pool. Trouble is DD1 is sporting a very noticeable post viral rash. It's just like what Reese had last weekend. NEITHER had any sickness symptoms beforehand. ARRRGGHHHHHH!!! This is the second beautiful day that's getting crapped on this week. I've got to figure out how to enjoy it.

VG you were on my mind but I can't remember why..... It will come back to me.

cyteen · 21/06/2010 14:06

loti LOL at 'no chance!'

TS if it's post-viral surely they wouldn't have grounds to exclude her from the tennis thing? Or is she a bit under the weather with it too? Either way that bites the weenie.

albs have been chortling to myself all morning about your DS saying "more boobie" loudly in church - was this your story? if not whoever it was, it has been amusing me greatly.

bank holiday today. need to do things.

Captain thank you for the message. I will reply soon.

longwayfromhome · 21/06/2010 15:39

ps my DH got two ballinitas for fathers day and a pot of nutella.

He's not really into buying presents ever. His first christmas in the uk my relatives all got him something. he was touched and surprised and told me that we should have bought sonething for them. Cue surprise from him when I explained that we had done

longwayfromhome · 21/06/2010 15:44

ballenitas here

oopsandbabycoconut · 21/06/2010 15:51

LWFH I always end up with a washing machine full of those because DH I forget to take them out when he I wash his shirts.

GladioliBuckets · 21/06/2010 17:07

TS Finally caught up, big hugs to you, hope he was listening. You use a creche in the day so how come you don't use a babysitter for evenings? Go shoot some pool together. I really Sazz's card playing, we used to do that when we were too poor to have tv and it was great but he just won't 'play' with me these days. I'd been finding it hard to get DH to do something with me that doesn't involve tv lately so our Greek holiday was great from that point of view. We have christened the concept "Sweet Hanging" quoting the movie I Love You Man (SOOO funny, watch it!)

Right, off to do the spare HPT now - meep.

luckoftheirish · 21/06/2010 18:35

Buckets did I hear right? Hpt??? Well???

Dd2 temp gone up to 101.2

cyteen · 21/06/2010 18:37

lwfh snort @ your christmas story. You are fabulously dry

Buckets don't think you can drop a bombshell like that without us noticing!

cyteen · 21/06/2010 18:56

It has been proper scorchio here today (and set to be more so tomorrow, apparently). DS has caught the sun a bit despite being slathered in suncream; we were up at the allotment in the afternoon, and it's unforgivingly exposed. Great to see the new growth though, weeds aside. We even have some random raspberries coming through

So boiling when we got back that I decided to strip DS off for the hour before bed. He celebrated this fact by pooing on the rug and treading in it

luckoftheirish · 21/06/2010 19:01

Lol cyteen how lovely

waiting with bated breath for buckets to reappear

cyteen · 21/06/2010 19:03

I see she has cunningly chosen an afternoon/early evening wee, so as to get less chance of a positive...

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 21/06/2010 19:07

Lucky is that Celsius??? 105*F is the bad point but we've been close oh so many times this year & a half. My sympathies to you and the wee one. I HATE FEVERS!!

Cyteen you are exactly correct. The bad stuff has past but she looks "not well" with her red flushing cheeks and splotchy arms. I took her to Target with me and ran into an acquaintance (her daughter was in dd1's preschool class) and I noticed her looking at dd1 with a look on her face. I completely ignored it, had our friendly conversation and went on shopping.

Buckets during the summer child care is a horrible to arrange. Schools/Preschools aren't in session from May 22 - Aug 15 so you are ON YOUR OWN. Folks dump kids in camps mostly. DD1 is old enough for that but Reese isn't yet. It's costly too. I've asked a sitter to come over twice this summer during the day to give me 3 hour midday breaks but that's $36US a shot. At least it's a shock for me. Evenings have always been hard for us sitter wise because our favorite sitter only does daytimes. I'm pondering the idea of asking our lovely next door neighbor. She's childless and in her 60's. The girls love her to pieces...just not sure if that's crossing a boundary.

Longway I totally love your gifts!!!! Adding that to my list for next year.

Allow me to add that I thought it was so cool to watch Sazzles & MrSazzles play their card game each night at the beach. Reminded me of how DH & I use to play Yahtzee by the pool and go to every Putt Putt/Minature Golf course in the country. We even kept our score cards and STILL reflect on WHO WON. Twas always me, of course. It's nice to have something you like to do as a couple. It might be time for DH & I to visit another Putt Putt course.

We are taking a break from our paddling pool. I just couldn't let this day pass with some swimming. Who knows we may get a wild hair and go to the big pool with DH later (if he's willing and dd1's spottiness is less).

luckoftheirish · 21/06/2010 19:08

this waiting is killing me ..

Glad your allotment is going so well cyteen

TwilightSurfer · 21/06/2010 19:10

LOL! Buckets would you please stop hiding!!

TwilightSurfer · 21/06/2010 19:11

OH CRAP! Cyteen you just made me remember I haven't put a diaper on Reese yet since coming in from the pool.

TwilightSurfer · 21/06/2010 19:13

close one! no puddle.

cyteen · 21/06/2010 19:14

I forgot to say loti your poor little DD2 I presume it's been as bright and hot over your way as it has here? That's probably not helping. Cool flannels and fans etc. although I tried to dab DS with a cold flannel earlier and he stropped out at me Hope she feels better soon. Does she get really cuddly when she's feverish? DS always wants to cling to me, even though it makes him hotter. I secretly like it though because he's always on the go the rest of the time

TS with all your talk of camp and miniature golf, you are reminding me of two specific Simpsons moments I love the episode where they send the kids off to camp: as soon as the bus leaves, all the parents cheer and start breaking out the gin and stripping off in the street And as for the mini-golf...I'll see if you've seen that one

luckoftheirish · 21/06/2010 19:18

its been lovely and hot here today although i haven't seen much of it.. she has been so clingy today and radiating like a hot water bottle!! tried the cool flannel and that was rejected but she loves sticking her head in the fridge so we did that alot today ..

c'mon buckets come backkkkkkkkkk
