Thought the title might be appropriate for both mums and babies

loving the diplomatic way you solve even a 7yr's old tantrum - mine would be told to wind her neck in Did you see the comment I put on about what she got her star for at school??

sorry about the headache I'm for a VERY early night tonight too as pooped just now and can't shake it

MrsMiamla · 01/07/2010 22:02

nigella's italian biscuit recipe (from same book) is really good but they're more of a 'blob a lump on a baking tray' type biscuit as opposed to being able to cut out an identifiable shape

ooh red did you see my comment on your blog?

cyteen yes but only if she has a short name! i'm planning on cubes for Pea being my labour project Weeelllll, i'll be at home after all so i'll need something to do with my hands

MrsMiamla · 01/07/2010 22:04

hmm, i did have lots more to say... nope, can't remember

love you all though but then you know that already!

RedLentil · 01/07/2010 22:10

The diplomacy came after much unseemly ranting earlier in the day.

Yay for the fullstopping!!

RedLentil · 01/07/2010 22:13

I did Miamla, and I commented on it yesterday. Thanks so much for posting.

Will the cube project push you towards a short name?

I had two back-to-back labours too. No 'Facebook Like' for that experience, I think.

MrsMiamla · 01/07/2010 22:17

cool, hope it was ok. i was feeling in a bit of a feisty mood when i wrote it but hoped that if it wasn't what you were after on your blog, that you'd be able to delete it!

No, she won't end up with a short name but she may just have cubes with her initials on them

ssssh with all this back to back talk!

oopsandbabycoconut · 01/07/2010 22:31

MRsM - DD2 was back to back and see how well she did??

I am loving reading all these blogs but could never write on or comment as I can barely post coherently on here!

Dizzy - to bed with you, you need you rest to get all cakey-bakey.

dizzydixies · 01/07/2010 22:31

Miamla, can you not do PEA blocks as a lovely momento are there any names in the running? how about Bea? near to Pea

I haven't been near the baby names section in ages

CrispyTheCrisp · 01/07/2010 22:32

Miamla - whilst in labour? Serious respect. Although i guess if i had tried sewing under anaesthetic things might have got messy

Forgot to say earlier i bought some broad beans. DD's de-podded them (or whatever the technical term is ), we steamed them for 5 mins and then they took the skins off and ate them like little sweets. They were just awesome. And then i got the chants of 'more', 'more', more, which sadly was a request i could not meet

Ah yes, shelled them, that would be it

dizzydixies · 01/07/2010 22:34

oh I used to love shelling and eating peas/beans and I remember it too - love it cyteen, I hope J remembers too

CrispyTheCrisp · 01/07/2010 22:35
oopsandbabycoconut · 01/07/2010 22:38

Did I miss something or does Dizzy have her Crispy and Cyteen mixed up? Did I miss a Cyteen pea post?

dizzydixies · 01/07/2010 22:42

ah frig, I should be in my bed - sodding McDreamy

sorry Crispy, hope L & E remember too

CrispyTheCrisp · 01/07/2010 22:43

I think we should leave her slumped in the corner and just pass Rose if she stirs

CrispyTheCrisp · 01/07/2010 22:45

ooh, there she is . Night lovely

DD1 says she remembers doing it last year

CrispyTheCrisp · 01/07/2010 22:46

cyteen - no pressure but i have a feeling J needs to experience the beans . Do you have any on your allotment? Apparently relatively easy to grow so i may try next year

dizzydixies · 01/07/2010 22:48

yes please

have I mentioned there is a girl I know on my FB page who is getting married this weekend and all I can say is thank feck, if I have to read one more inane countdown/statistic/quandry over shoes I will scream. I'm aware I should 'hide' her updates but I'm too lazy to sort it all out.

right, on that rant I am def away to bed. DH on nights again, having been dispatched to get me liquid glucose from ASDA. Lets hope he isn't as busy as last night that certainly woke him up in the early hours

night all

GladioliBuckets · 01/07/2010 22:51

Crispy LOL How does not anticipating your small children's love of broad beans make you a crappola mother? I mean, whodathunkit?

DS1's teacher and I were welling up this morning talking about him, she was saying how much she'll miss him and I was thanking her for her astonishing proactiveness. She has noticed his self-esteem going down lately and he has a v obv stammer/stutter (?) recently so she wants to put him in the emotional literacy group. He is clearly more worried about going to Y2 than he is able to articulate.

Kurt was full of ingratiating grins and smirks at my mum today, we were like 'what's he after?' Was v funny.

Bed now, strangely not missing DH yet. Off to read a tiny bit more of the new Carlos Ruiz Zafon book, am savouring it slooooowly, remembering the big back-to-earth bump after finishing The Shadow of the Wind. More gothic romantic mystery with quirky humour - what's not to like?

Night night ladies.

cyteen · 01/07/2010 22:55

Arf dizzy, how flattered I am to be mistaken for the svelte Sargeant Crisp Sorry to disappear earlier, was making and then eating tea, and watching a v v exciting episode of Battlestar Galactica...now off to bed, be back with actual wedding talk tomorrow x

OP posts:
dizzydixies · 01/07/2010 22:59

at least your wedding has style and holds my interest, trips to the local bridal stores do not

buckets, I quite enjoy it when DH is on nights to have a wee read and sleep diagonally!! must look up those books as needing a new read. Lovely about K's teacher, I hope his next one is as good. DD1's teacher was apparently in tears today too bless her, this was her first class and they all adore her - what a fecking loss to the school that they weren't allowed to keep her .

definately night all now, sodding football on the tv

MrsMiamla · 01/07/2010 23:15

ooh buckets...are you reading the one he wrote after shadow of the wind? if its the one i'm thinking of...very very good but very very different to Shadow... quite dark from what i remember

dizz weren't you going to bed hours ago?

hmm Pea blocks might be a runner good idea!

crisp i may have been joking about my labour project
broad beans you say?

names...So far, on my list, i've got Beatrice and Penelope. (not sure what thoughts DH is having, i'm biding my time!) Someone at p&t has just had a Beatrice, someone else's (at same group) number one name is Penelope (but she doesn't know if she's having a boy or girl yet, due 4weeks before me). When we were talking about names this week, I made a comment along the lines of 'ooh, how funny, we might end up with two Beatrices or two Penelopes depending on what we go for' They both glared at me with daggers!!! I think they're both claiming full ownership of the respective names! Seriously though, they're just girls i chat to at the group. Chances of us staying in touch once the DCs are too old for the group is very remote so i really don't see the problem with our DDs having the same names!!! And relax FFS!

arse!!! its gone 11pm!!!!
bed for me!

luckoftheirish · 02/07/2010 07:29

also fulltime course i wanted to go on in sept is on hold as dd1 phase in at big is completely stupid and lasts for weeks [sign]..

anyway sorry for massive post

MrsMiamla · 02/07/2010 07:46

morning loti
i'm so pleased you listened to the nagging and went to see docs. you may well horrific now but at least you've got the drugs to sort you out. Think you're meant to be drinking lots of water aren't you? I had a kidney infection a few years ago and completely sympathise, one of most painful things i've had

did you manage to get to chat to someone re combining the phasing in with your course? for the record, I really want you to do the course and hope you come up with a solution for it

as for dd2, I

MrsMiamla · 02/07/2010 08:10

oops, posted before i'd finished....

as for dd2, I don't know what to suggest. do you think she'll settle eventually? ie is it worth trying a couple more sessions? could she start with shorter sessions?

poppysocks · 02/07/2010 08:55

Beautiful day here. Glare on screen too much outside though so sitting with doors open and sun on my face.

Know what you mean about the nights alone dizzy

Loving those names mrsm. My bf has a Beatrice and it is just lovely. As you may (probably ) all remember I have a spectacularly unadventurous DH so it was not for us so will just be of you and agree that you really shouldn't take the opinion of the mums who you won't know in 5 years , let alone 25 years time. I'm still not settled on DD2's name, two years on .

So sorry to hear you're ill and, yet again, not getting the rest you need loti. Kidney infections are debilitating and potentially damaging for the long-term. Does H not realise that looking after the DDs is not good for you at the mo??

On the nursery front loti, how many times has she been there so far? iirc it's not that many? My two took a long time to settle in but I had to let them get on with it as I had to be at work. A few people who I trust on these things said to give it six weeks. However, that was with them going far more often than once per week. Going that infrequently will make it more difficult as she will need time to get used to it. Could you split it into two half days until, say, Christmas? Or even three - Mon, Weds and Fri? That way it'd be more a part of her regular routine.

I know how tough it is loti. Both DDs cried/screamed/wailed and clung to me for weeks but it took far less time for it to have subsided within 30 seconds of being out of sight. Doesn't make it any less tear-jerking though. If you have faith in your nursery it will be fine. Give her time.
