Apologies for rubbish title, couldn't think of anything - mind is totally riddled by hormones...!

Ask your DH to have a word with them tonight, Katie, so they behave well for your birthday tomorrow! Wow, are you going to be 21?

Why not go to a local park and let them do their own thing on the rides while you sit on a picnic rug with a mini bottle of champagne and some cake!

Glad I logged on Beans! Was just about to get sorted to get out as to avoid calling db. I don't know your address - can you FB it to me or I can text sybs for it if I can find that number she posted!!

Rubena · 02/06/2010 09:14

ps Katie - Wed should be fine for me - if you can find anywhere that has some sort of 10 foot wall enclosed area for my ds that would be preferred but I'll adapt if you can't

MomOrMum · 02/06/2010 09:50

Jealous of your meet-up on a nice sunny day! Sounds much nicer than sitting indoors pretending to work.

Welcome back Lady. Sorry you're ill, but sounds like it was a nice break nonetheless.

The basket is taking such good care of me! Thank you all so much. I think it is a blessing that at least it happened so early because I'd only had just over 2 weeks to get used to the idea of being pregnant, so I think it is then a bit easier to comprehend the idea of no longer being pregnant. Of course if when I go for my scan on Friday it turns out that there are complications or I need more medical management of the miscarriage, then I think it will start to feel horrible again.

Can I make a very vain complaint? As if a miscarriage isn't s&*t enough, you're also left with the flabby muffin top tummy. Gross.

Trace - I was going to say the same about the liquid being something other than pee! But if not, then those cones sound like a good plan. I have done nary a Kegel exercise ever and I'm sure my pelvic floor will be around my knees soon.

Syb Hope M's temp is back down today.

Am sure I'll be back on later....very de-motivated this week!

Veggiemummy · 02/06/2010 10:14

Mom you know I hadn't thought of the muffin top, by 8-9 weeks I def had the beginnings of a fine belly and very little if it was baby. Not a nice reminder but also terribly inconvenient at this time of year. Sorry very sympathetic of your situation but I'm feeling that vanity ishoo for you right now. Though having said that I've still got quite the MT and no excuse.

Speaking of muffin tops, Lady that is hilarious that your little O pinched a random top in a fit of toddler rage. That will teach her to be so lazy on a plane and not pull her top down. Was she amused by the pinch or did she get huffy. I wonder if O is starting to cotton that she is to be usurped soon? She may not understand pregnancy etc but she would notice your change in energy levels which probably translates to 'not giving me attention exactly when I want it' to her. DS2 has stopped the biting because his was definitly an attention thing and was worse when tired so in that respect was easier to 'fix', with O it seems like she is trying to get across frustration of some sort. What I don't know and how to fix it I haven't the faintest. Sorry also about the eating. All I can say is I know your frustration (all to well) and it does get better but I realise that's not much help. You mentioned quinoa a while back you know you can get quinoa flakes which you can add to any soupy or liquidy food. It will thicken it but also it adds loads of protein to a dish. It only takes about 90secs to cook as long as there is enough liquid in the pot or food your cooking. Hope you feel better soon, can you have a week whiskey toddy?

Excitjng about your parents house Katie enjoy! Did they end up buying at the price they wanted it?

MomOrMum · 02/06/2010 12:11

Yes, I most certainly had a fully developed muffin top. It was 100% related to the baby and 0% related to the obscene amount of chocolate and greasy food I consumed over the last month. Medical fact.

Beans33 · 02/06/2010 13:19

I have an enormous muffin top, whether I'm pregnant or not!! And it's covered in stretchmarks, which is grotesque.

Rubes and Sybs have just left. Have to say, that was a lovely meet up. Rubes's DS is just so sweet and well behaved - just independent and got on with it! And Sybs brought oldest DD - so helpful! Honestly, she is gorgeous. It was smashing to see you both - thanks so much for coming over! DD loved it and has now passed out fully in her bed - totally conked out after her lunch date with new pals. Think she had a bit of a crush on Lucy!

I'm about to have another fairy cake - home baked by Sybs - yummy!

That's really lifted my spirits and am feeling v perky and happy!

xxxx

Veggiemummy · 02/06/2010 13:49

Oh no fair I want some fairy cake by Sybs!

I was just feeling very homely and earthy. I picked some lovely big mint leaves (or munt as they call them here, which just makes me giggle) from my garden. Boiled the kettle and washed the mint leaves & together with some green tea (& a decent helping of sugar) made a pot of Moroccan mint tea. I poured into some lovely mugs I got in Japan then sat back ready to sip my tea and watch the boys playing in the back garden. Unfortunately it appears my mint has bugs! I looked down to be confronted by 10! drowning aphid looking bugs!!!! Nice.

Oh well. I have been quite productive this afternoon. I went to our junk storage room to check if we'd bought one our many paddling pools over. It appears not (so just filled up an old ikea underbed storage box with water). But decided to go through some of the bags of crap up there and found a load of clothes for DS2, inc a little Mao suit he can wear for the wedding in three weeks. Also all the cotbed sheets and duva covers I thought I'd lost. All the towels i thought I'd lost (the last two sets of items we have bought replacements for) and a dress I wore a few years back when I was bridesmaid for a friends wedding, and it fits! Ok it's a little tight but I think i wear my Spanx it will be ok. I'm going to see what DH thinks tonight (he won't spare my feelings if I look like a whale). It's a nice simple dress that is still fashionable now and...well it fits me so bugger it I wanna wear it for that reason alone. I'm a little more curvy than I was all those years ago but i think that suits the dress better (though I may just be hoping that). It will be a tight fit and I will not be completely comfortable but hey I will save money on a new dress. My wish would be that I could wear the dress I wore for my wedding after party but that just ain't gonna happen anytime soon.

Beans33 · 02/06/2010 13:53

Oh my gosh, Veggie! That sounds lovely. Sybs had a look at one of our wedding pics today and I was looking lovely in it - only day I can honestly say I was beautiful on! But I suddenly realised that I weighed 4 stone less in that photo than I do now. I know I'm up the duff, so do weigh more than normal. But when am at normal weight it's 2 stone more than I was on wedding day.

I SO want to get back down to that weight I was 3 years ago. It was hard work, but I really do want to get it back... Sob.

Your mint story made me giggle! Moroccan tea sounds delicious - just without the insectile hundreds and thousands sprinkled on top!

New thread! There is no such thing as a new thread

Hello all

urbane - good to see you, has dd stopped the vomming yet? is it worth seeing the doc about?

trace re the tmi thing, I've had that once or twice when doing the deed rather merry and in need of a wee - the advice about popping to the loo beforehand is good though it is a bit of a passion killer. But the passion should hopefully be restoked soon enough!

Lady - re your itchy skin, DH says be careful as it might be pruritis of pregnancy, worth asking your midwife/consultant next time you're in. I did giggle at O pinching a random passerby!

V jealous of all these meetups, Beans it sounds like you had a lovely time! It's my own fault for not getting round to arranging a Cambridge one. Who would be able to get across here for the day?

katie! Happy birthday for tomorrow, nearly-twin (well within the week...!)
Hope the house business is all sorted soon. It's very natural to be sad about leaving the place you grew up, my dad has redecorated the downstairs of our childhood home and it was sad to see the last traces of what he and my mum put together being painted over. But life moves on, their new place can be where the grandkids make their memories

Tantrums/biting - I may have sold dd a bit short, the BF thing isn't really biting in the worst sense, more just getting a really weird latch and then extending my poor nips. So sore, but not painful (if that makes any sense?!). And we've not had a full-on tantrum for a while, just the 10 seconds of waaaah when she doesn't get her own way, followed by facing up to it and doing something else. She'll also shake her head when I offer her food, then take it anyway. A bit confused there I think!

MoM lovely you're being very brave, will be thinking of you on Friday.

Veggie hurrah for finding lovely dresses! Can I be a bit smug - I recently got a pair of trousers out of the wardrobe that I got in my second year at uni, had kept them 'on the offchance' and they miraculously still fitted. The silly thing is, they'd quite clearly stretched a heck of a lot as if I was to try and buy a brand new pair of trousers with the same size number, there's no way they'd get over one thigh let alone all the way up!

Right, off to pull out some dead clematis stems One of the branches got broken so about a mile and a half of stems just dried up and died, it's going to be like untying the Gordian knot.

Beans33 · 02/06/2010 14:15

Oh arse. I was looking forward to my last night in the house tonight with a nice supper and DVD with DH. He's just emailed me to say we've got to pack up the rest of the house tonight, apart from the kitchen and sitting room which I'm doing with his parents tomorrow. I know he's doing the heavy stuff tomorrow of lifting etc, but it was his choice not to get removal men, not mine! I am more than willing to get involved tomorrow, but wanted a lovely night together as last night in the house tonight. Nuts.

Oh well, these things are sent to try us. And guess we have got a lot to pack up. Just was hoping it wasn't going to be me who had to do it all!

JollyBear · 02/06/2010 14:17

Just a quick hello from me...

ladyT If the itching continues you might need to see someone, I thought it could be symptom of something unpleasant in pregnancy? Not wishing to worry you at all! O pinching the woman's muffin top is hilarious. I was carrying DD the other day and she pushed a woman who was walking slowly in front of us . She's becoming a thug.

veggie Did you drink the tea? The bugs would have added a bit of protein! Making it even more of a health drink .

Back later....

spotofcheerfulness · 02/06/2010 14:30

Lady, I had itching during my last pregnancy and got tested for something called obstetric choleostasis (sp). It's all about bile acid levels or summat. Anyway, best get it checked out.
Will respond to others later, T just woke up.

Rubena · 02/06/2010 14:30

Hello,
I'm back and thanks so much for having us Beans. It was so lovely to see both Sybil and you again after so long. dd is gorgeous, as is sybs dd1. ds thanks you for the fish fingers too! Sybs thanks for the cake and you may have to buy dd1 a real puppy! ds crashed out before we even made it to the A3. He is usually a good boy if he's allowed to roam.
Bummer about not getting your last night a nice one in the house. I never did get your new address - can you FB it to me?

LadyT, glad you had a nice time in Sweden, I did laugh a lot at your dd pinching the muffin top Sorry to hear the eating has taken another set back. Did you try the McD's milkshake yet? Yum I want one of those now

Right ds is out in the garden with the dog and I can't see him from here so better check
what he's up to.....

SummerLightning · 02/06/2010 14:41

beans your DH is a right bloody bugger. After all his "oh it will be fine, i will do it all myself". Do NOT help him. Can you go out round a friends house and leave him to it?? Not that that would help on the nice last night in the house front. As I remember the agreement was you did the kitchen and he did the rest?? Am very cross on your behalf.

Sounds like you all had a nice time though!

ladyt I was itchy until about 17 weeks, it has gone now though. I think obstetric choleosis is serious stuff but I also think it tends to develop near the end of pregnancy (could be wrong though)? I also remember there being someone on our antenatal thread way back who had something called PUPPPS that made her really itchy. I would definitely get it checked out.

veggie hurrah to the dress - sounds lovely.

Oh trace on the TMI question, I was also going to suggest it may not be wee! I don't have the best pelvic floor but I haven't had this problem. But I hate commencing relations if I need a wee at all so maybe that is why!! I would even excuse myself and go for one before letting anything begin. Ah, the things we talk about on here!

SummerLightning · 02/06/2010 14:53

Oh rubes just remembered you were asking about up the duff drinking....if I fancy it I have a smallish glass of wine or a beer. Usually 1-2 times a week but probably been 4 in the last week as I have been on holiday.
More than recommended I know (well I think official is none now anyway isn't it?)

Sorry your DB is being a pain in the bum still.

Rubena · 02/06/2010 15:01

Oh Summer, yeah I cleared that up with Beans and Sybs - it seems we all are on the same page with it and I've been having about that too (your holiday amount)

waitinggirl · 02/06/2010 15:37

JJ i'll come to cambridge! can't wait to show madam the alma mater! count us in

LadyThompson · 02/06/2010 16:03

I have a list of things I want to say but I haven't had time to type it yet Yes, I will get this itchyness checked. If it was just my tummy I wouldn't be worried but it's my legs as well. Though I do wonder if it's because my skin is so darn dry. I took Effie's tip of getting one of those moisturising bars from Lush (got Neroli and Lavender, smells gorgeous) as a change from Bio-Oil, and I have used nearly a whole bar since Monday evening when I bought it in Stockholm!

Rubes, I have had a glass of wine every day for a week whilst I have been in Sweden, and a bit more on Saturday at the wedding as I had a glass of champs at lunchtime. I know that is naughty but I did it last time on holidays and all was ok. However, I won't be having any at all for a few days, as I can't taste it anyway feel I need to atone.

Aw, Beans, I am really sorry you don't get your nice night. You should make sure YOU have a really tasty supper to yourself.

Right, must go as I am madly tidying. The flat is a vile and shameful pit and MIL is coming tomorrow as I am on a course on Friday and Saturday (DP has a nad rehearsal on Sat). I will come back later and work through my list.

sybilfaulty · 02/06/2010 16:09

It was such a LOVELY day today. Beans, thank you so much for having us and doing lunch. Lucy in love with everyone and I'm in love with your house! It was also really nice to be able to chat in person and to realise that we do all know each other quite well, even though we have only met twice in RL! Hope we can do it again soon - I'll sort out a day for lunch at mine, or I can bring a picnic to you in the new gaff.

Beans, rotten about the packing. Can you not get DH to do it tomorrow after you've left? Twas his idea not to do the packers.

Veg, I am hugely envious of your foxy dress! I need to lose a bit still, but just can't be bothered. Hoever, having spent the morning with 2 of the trimmest preg girls ever, I feel shamed into moving my arse again. I am sure you will look gorgeous in your dress. Women are meant to have bums and boobs after all, and you are bionic to boot.

JJ, I'd love to come to Cambridge! Count me in.

DD1 and I went to Brixton and bought a few bits in H and M and then a few yummy treats in Tesco. We live such a simple life but I really love it. She's playing in the garden while i, er, fold laundry. Oops. Better go.

Back later, oh lovely ones.

SummerLightning · 02/06/2010 16:12

If there's any way we can wait until mid July for a Cambridge meet-up then JJ and I will be able to be there as I will be on Mat leave by then (we don't have any days off in common). Assuming you are thinking in the week. Or are you thinking weekend?

EffiePerine · 02/06/2010 17:20

Quickly popping on as just heard the news - isn't Jolly in Cumbria? Or am I getting confused. Hope all is OK. Checked with my dad as my aunt lives in one of the towns affected, she was out shopping but thankfully didn't know anything about it until she got home and the police called

Beans33 · 02/06/2010 17:26

What's happened in Cumbria? x

OP posts:
SummerLightning · 02/06/2010 17:27

Jolly is in Bolton I think?? Don't think it is v near the affected area.

Beans33 · 02/06/2010 17:34

Oh gosh - just seen the news - how awful.
