Be back later to do personals, but keep forgetting to come on and share my good news (and no, I am NOT preggers before anyone asks/assumes -- LOL).

Our flights are booked and we're going back to the states for 15 days in less than four weeks! YAY!!! Our annual trip to my parents' for Thanksgiving. I am so excited I did the happy dance around the house for two days. Mom and Dad are, understandably, over the moon with excitement as well. YAY for American holidays you don't have in the UK! Grin

fidelma · 20/10/2010 09:41

ScoutGrin for the holidays.

I am not very tecnically minded but I am loving my iphone.Sadly I think it has died on it's trip down the loo[hsad]And we just bought a docking station yesterday so that I could listen to my music (never quite got to grips with the ipod!)

-4 this morning up here.Lovely and sunny.Off to Perth and then the hermitage to walk and look at the amazing leaves.

fidelma · 20/10/2010 22:55

We ate in a French restaraunt today with all the dc.We had tried the Mexican but it was closed so ended up in this busy French place.C was tierd so he behaved well. The children ate muscles, parma salad and pizzas (mix I guess of French and Italian now that I think about it)
We had a lovely time, conversation and all.C made eyes with another table and another lady came over when we were leaving to say how well behaved the dc were and how nice it was to see them eatting in a proper restaurant.(pleased mummy emotion)[hwink]

Followed by a great walk through a Scottish forest.

Then home and I cooked from Jamie Olivers 30mim dinners.Huge success and everyone ate everything.

Good old Jamie.

fidelma · 20/10/2010 22:57

Oh my iphone is responding a little! Please send some whitches majic to my iphone [hgrin]

HappyTangerine · 22/10/2010 00:27

I have been waiting by the phone all night for news of my cousin whose first baby was due on the 6th. She was induced last night, that induction failed so they were looking at attempt no 2 this pm. Poor thing [hsad]. We are a big family but very, very close.

fidelma I am seriously impressed with your iphone!

scout Fab news about the holiday, I've always thought Thanksgiving is such a lovely tradition

Iggly When you read this, WEL DONE for getting through your first week back

HC Hope Matthew is a bit better

HappyTangerine · 22/10/2010 00:28

WELL not WEL [hhmm]

HappyTangerine · 22/10/2010 22:34

Still no news of baby. Cousin had an epidural at 9am, that was the last anyone (inc her parents) heard. They've gone to the hospital now we think. We are so worried, she's been in labour for ages, am not sure how much more she her body can take [hsad].

Igglybuff · 23/10/2010 10:00

Your poor cousin HT. I hope it's all over and out soon (so to speak) for her. How's your back??

fidelma here's some magic for your phone [hgrin] I couldn't live without mine! I've come close to dropping it in the toilet but luckily not yet. William has thrown it about quite a bit and it's still alive.

scout, excellent news! I bet you have a fab time. It's nice to be around family during the holidays. How's your health?

My first week back was interesting - William was not happy. He's ill, teething (I see tooth number 9 making a break for it) and is really really tired. The nanny is doing a bit too much with him I think, so he's tiring out a lot faster. When at home with me, he does a lot of playing but just pottering about the house "helping" me with chores, some outings but not a huge amount. He keeps coming for cuddles and putting his head on my shoulder, so I think it's all a bit much for him when he's so run down [hsad] I'll have to ask the nanny to take it easy next week.

Hi everyone :) I've been awol. Anyone missed me?! Grin

Here's a summary of us recently.
F is having a dairy free diet after throwing up in the night after eating yoghurts and yellow watery poos, weight loss and lack of appetite after I started giving him cows milk on his wheetabix. :(
Since stopping it his poos have improved, back to eating and put on 10 oz in 3 weeks. Still right down on chart between 9th and 25th (when up on 75th at birth)but better than losing.

He is cruising, crawling and has done 3 steps here and there :)

Night waking...when he was off food he was waking up to 5 times a night and it was awful :( Now it's down to 2 but still tiring.
I am doing all I can to get as much solid food in him in the day.

Teeth. Still on 4. He has the top 2 fangs and not the middle top ones!! Middle 2 coming soon I think.

He is so happy :) Such a delight. Really and truely. He plays with ds1 and dd and is just wonderful.

He is 1 tomorrow! I've made a dairy free cake and have wrapped the pressies. Both sets of grandparents coming, plus my sister and her dh.

:)

Scout, Yay to holiday!
Iggly :( to falling down stairs
Hc :( to sore nips!
Fidelma, mine love curry too!
HT hope your cousin is a mummy now :)

princessProudmel · 23/10/2010 13:03

Oh and I forgot , he's in the current John Lewis nursery catalogue.

The one with a baby on the front with a finger in his mouth.
He is on the gifting page :)

princessProudmel · 23/10/2010 13:12

One more post! He can say 'cat' and 'car' :)

Igglybuff · 23/10/2010 19:34

Hello princess! I was wondering where you'd been :) glad to hear that you've been able to get F better again - it's horrible when you know feeding something makes them ill :( I've got a referral to a dietician as W is the same with dairy and soya. As he gets older I'm worried about what to feed him so need help! W is waking up once a night but starting the day early I'll look out for him in the JL catalogue Grin

HappyBirthday F!

Nice to hear from you princess Happy Birthday for tomorrow.(off to find the John Lewis catalogue)

HC Connor has been doing that to my arm. I got a real shock the other day and yelled out. I put him down and once he stopped holding his breath he cried Sad He hasn't done it since. (I felt really bad) But I don't want him bitting other children.

Happy Birthday Freddie.

Nathaniel seems to be constantly ill. First hand, foot and mouth and now another cold and temperature. Hate the cold and kids coming back with germs from school.Luckily half-term next week.

Still not much sleep here still feeding a lot at night especially when hes not feeling well.Still BF a lot during day too as hes not really keen on food.

Gotta go Nathaniel on my lap screaming, will try later xxx

CalypsoFramboise · 25/10/2010 09:19

Hello everyone,

Have been back from Spain for a week but no time to MN :o

Trip was nice but v tiring as grandparents house totally un-child safe; all hard tiled floors, open plan with tons of stone steps everywhere, 3 mad dogs and a swimming pool! Weather was nice, food lovely and managed a couple of trips to the beach and fun in the pool with A's cousins (warm mediterranean sunshine seems like a million years ago now brr!).

Scout Have fun in the states!

Happy birthday Freddie! Sorry to hear that dairy is making him ill; it must be really hard to cut it out so I hope that he grows out of it soon.

iggly nasty fall but glad W is ok. What days do you work? Are you still in Victoria? Hope that this week is better.

Bella Hello! N really is poorly, must be tough on you, hope that he gets well soon HF&M seems to be doing the rounds in my area too :(

HC ouch! Annalise nips v occassionaly and it brings me out in a cold flush of fear when I next go to BF her. Its really quite incredible how sharp babies teeth are! Do you tell him off when he nips? I tell A off but she thinks its funny, so I have no idea how to make her understand. Am only BF in morning now as the only way I could get her to stay still enough to get her dressed and into grobag after bathtime was with a warm bottle of milk. Think my supply is only a token gesture really. I'm amazed that so many of you are bf still so much!

HT gah that sounds like a horrendous birthing experience, your poor cousin! Am v happy to hear that all is ok!

HumphreysCorner · 25/10/2010 20:41

Welcome back Calypso, Spain, how lovely. [hsmile]

My left nipple is sooooo sore where M bit me by accident and am piling Lansinoh on it but feeding that side is toe curling. Fed from the other side a few times but then filled up too much on the sore side. Mum took the opportunity to say that he is far too old to be still BFing and even though he is my last baby I am going to ruin him and make him a mummy's boy.

Big wave, DH home from work so better go.

HC

BellaCullen · 25/10/2010 21:19

Finally have my arms free for a bit.

HC ouch on biting.Nathaniel bites my nipples after having had his feed and bites my jumper when he wants some milk. When I say no he loves too,I have also put him straight down and screamed in pain but makes no difference to him.
He also pinches me,the naughty boy,on my tummy and back.Maybe hes trying subtle hints that Im a overweight. Can`t master the will to excersise or diet at all.Am always hungry.

I have also had saying of him being to big to bf and a few friends have asked when I plan to stop but will just keep going and waiting for him to wean himself off.I just think if you give a bottle till theyre 2/3 years old why is it such an outrage to BF that long.DD had a bottle till she was 2 so think might go till then. Had a run in at weigh in clinic where the nurse said I should have stopped BF ages ago and he should be eating food all the time and apparently he can have cows milk to drink now too.Really? And shouldnt I be thinking of making baby no2 instead.I said hes my 3rd and she shut up.Felt really angry with her especially as there were mums with newborns there.Would have liked to complain about her but o idea to whom as dont know her name and not sure am just too sesitive.

Calypso sound like you had a great holiday.Would love to go somewhere hot.How is Annalise getting on at nursery?

Fidelma cant believe you dropped your Iphone . Wouldnt be able to live without mine is it working now?telling myself not to take it into bathroom with me again.

Scout have a great time back home the holidays over there must be great would love to be there one time around xmas and see all the decorations. You definitely know how to celebrate all the holidays Smile

Hello to everyone else. xxx

HappyTangerine · 25/10/2010 21:26

HC - On bf You have my every sympathy. With me, it's not my mum (who extended bf my sister and backs me all the way) but MIL and SIL that disapprove of my still bf. The latest reason I should stop is because I am clearly clinging to his babyhood by still bf and harming his chances of mixing with other children when he goes to nursery and then pre-school by bf now.In their opinionm my mother was terribly wrong to extend bf [hhmm]. SIL didn't do it and more importantly SIL's friend - the hallowed one with 6 children, (so of course the expert in all things childcare)-didn't either so I must be wrong. I have explained about the WHO guidelines but that apparently is for the third world only and it's the WHO fault for extending bf guidelines that Nestle are pushing formula. Ummm [[hhmm]. The only thing that ends the conversation is reminding them that my nan had fourteen children, yes, 8 more than SILs hallowed friend, and she bf all of them till the age of 2.[hgrin]

biting Joe went through a stage of this after he got his 6th and 7th teeth, still does sometimes. I yelped and put him down with a very firm "no" and refused eye contact for a few seconds. It took a few days of doing this consistently and then he got the message. Nowadays he either gives big open mouth kisses or blows rasberries on my shoulder. His latest thing though is scramming/grabbing at our faces and necks and it bloody hurts. I keep grabbing his hand and smoothing it down my face, singing "gently like a feather, gently, gently" while bouncing him around. He resisted at first but tonight seems to be coming on board (this is day1). I sound mad don't I?![hgrin]

Sorry for essay x

HappyTangerine · 25/10/2010 21:54

Right have more time now. Thanks for all the good wishes for my cousin and baby. She says never again[hgrin]

Joe is taking a few more steps unaided, usually when he has got something in his hands (he loves his migraine inducing cymbals or our house phones). Speaking of which - what is it about babies and the number 9 on a telephone keypad?! Like moths to a flame. Mostly he walks holding on to my one hand or cruises round the furniture. He loves walking through the leaves in the park and between the tables in the library where he then tries to stack all the little chairs (strange child).

He's very funny and mischevous and we're really enjoying him now, especially as sleep has improved so much. Video baby monitor was such a fab buy[hgrin]. New words last weeek were vrain (for train)and flower. He loves Thomas the Tank stuff, especially the green one(is it Percy?) so I've got him some Take Along engines for Christmas and the little track they go around. That and some mega blocks are the sum total of my Christmas shopping so far.

I'm a bit stuck for snacks, what do you all feed your little ones? Usually its either a few rice cakes with philadelphia and some fruit, yoghurt or a buttery bagel but I need inspiration.

Iggly I hope you and W have a better week and he feels better soon. Sounds like he definately needs an easy week. How is your morning sickness now? My back is slowly improving but I think I'm going to see a chiropractor anyway.

fidelma I am exhausted just reading about your week, sounds busy but fun and rewarding!

Bella Hello and welcome back. Sorry Nathaniel is poorly, this sudden cold weather not helping. I am also bf a lot, especially at night. [hangry] at nurse at baby clinic-its up to you when you finish bf, not her. And how intrusive to be pushing you about trying for the next baby! I haven't braved a weigh-in clinic for a few months, should get Joe weighed I suppose before his jabs next week. I find them so damn stressful though.

Calypso Spain sounds lovely, am so jealous!

PPM Hope F had a great day.
Scout How are you and Sebby?
littlepea and Ruby Hope all is well x

fidelma · 25/10/2010 23:34

HT Tell your sil that I said no 4 times and look where that got me ! LOL

I am still bf loads and will at least continue throughout the winter as it is so handy if they are ill. However I think I am looking forward to stopping in the spring.I will of then been bf for a total of 7 1/2 years(gasps)[hshock]

Children all back to school tomorrow.I have had a hard period, and been feeling a bit low, so I am looking forward to 9.30am when I can get a quiet cuppa with C for company. (only a small marathon to get through first!)
