SirB sorry you're having such a hard day. We are thinking of you and fully prepared to listen to a rant. Bedtime now, hope you're having a long cool glass of...something

Thanks for the ideas on the present front everyone. We actually popped over to see them this afternoon. Too soon for pressies but we took some yummy lunch and that went down well. Then I picked up big sis from school who was pleased to see me and soooo sweet with her wee sis (and Rosa) Will get pressies in town tomorrow I think.

So different having a summer baby. They are just hanging out with all the doors and windows open and the little one is in just a nappy. Such a difference from us cosying up in bed and coccooning them overnight/with any trip ventured outdoors...!

yikesascorpiobaby · 22/06/2010 22:42

Fruit yes my dh is going to be 50 !!! The balloon thing is one of the things I have planned but I am really doubting the wisdom of it! (Since I am very, very scared of heights)

MissI how I wish someone had bought me lunch when I had a newborn! A friend came over with a pile of glossy magazines and a packet of bakewell tarts, that was pretty good too!

A bit of a bummer of a day today as class lists are out for next year- ds going from reception into yr 1- and ds is only with two of his friends, but the two I had secretly hoped he'd move away from. actually one of them is v sweet but the other dominates ds and can be quite aggressive. ds is not namby pambied but I don't like the way this other friend treats him and now it looks like we're stuck with it. Saw the class teacher and head to express concerns (admit I am a nightmare parent who is also a teacher emoticon) but it looks like a done deal. Just hope ds can find the strength to break away a bit.

JuicyLips · 23/06/2010 08:41

yikes ooh a balloon trip, very nice, Im sure your dh will love it!

SirB sorry to hear you are having a rough time at the mo, hope it gets better soon for you.

MissI agree with jewellery or bead kits. they usually go down well. and also agree they yummy lunch was a v good idea. Am going to remember that when my friends start having babies!

Ds now has chicken pox, exactly 14 days after annabelle did. at least it will be out the way now I suppose.

Lovely fil was shopping late last night and gave me a lift home as he noticed me waiting for dh who had not yet finished his work and I was waiting for him to come pick me up from my work. which was really nice of him as I would have had a 40 min wait otherwise. apparently I looked too tired to wait. lol. am always tired.

weston · 23/06/2010 09:22

morning all

been a while since i have been on as i have been living it up in spain on my own!! DH went to germany for lads w/e so i just had a girlie w/e in spain and let me tell u it was fab!!

but now back to the reality of poo and puke! what is best plan with puking 7 month old?? do u stop milk? food? both? thought might be overfeeding her as she has a little tummy and milk seems to top off it all off but now thinking might be a bug as had a few spontaneous cot full of puke...

PreggoK8 · 23/06/2010 09:45

missInterpret another one here enjoying the sunshine, but only in chunks as otherwise it drains me! Re present, I think she would be pleased with whatever you choose but I like Ursi?s idea of asking parents if you?re not sure.
SirBoob sorry you?re having a crap day. If it makes you feel any better I totally lost it the other day after a few days of no sleep and Joe spending over an hour of solid crying, so I actually told my gorgeous 7 month old baby to f off, and then left the room, screamed, and banged my head against the floor. I hope none of the neighbours were in! I am thoroughly sheepish about the whole thing
Yikes a balloon flight! Wow that sounds amazing! Are you scared of heights? I?m sure you?ll love it though and it?s amazing what a bit of adrenaline can do to make something exciting!
Fruit Joe?s on 3 meals a day but waking at least once during the night and waking stupidly early. Was there anything else you did that might have helped? We?re putting up a blackout blind today and praying that will work?
Settled in wonderfully into new house. It?s on a lovely road, really close to supermarkets and bus stop, and it?s really close to where we rented our first house so we know the area. It?s a bit more expensive than we?ve had before, but £25 a month more has gotten us a loft conversion that can be used as a bedroom for guests as well as storage, and we have a downstairs and upstairs bathroom! Very random for a 2/3 bed house but handy!

Fruitpastels · 23/06/2010 14:17

Preggo Enjoy your new home I tried everything with C to stop the 4am wakings. I was doing BLW and then moved to doing a bit of spoon feeding and BLW and it helped drop the 10pm feed and waking up at 4am. I also started him on a morning and afternoon nap time, he was partly following this routine anyway, I just fine tuned the timing. We also use a black out blind, but not every night as it's one with suckers that you need to put up each night. As I'm still bf he wakes for a feed in the night and then normally goes through until 6am, and if he has another feed we can squeeze and extra hour sleep. I can live with 6am, apart from the weekends when I would love a lie in.

Teething seems to be striking every afternoon for the past 7 days. I've had it good up until now though. I can't feel any teeth under his gums yet. It sounds like most of us are in the same boat.

It's boiling hot outside. Don't want to take the kids out in this heat. Hoping to go for a stroll later today when it's cooled down a bit.

skorpion · 23/06/2010 21:29

Hi All, just checking in. Hope you're all well.

Ten days of our visit gone already!!! Time flies with a baby, but it flies Concorde with three kids under three!! My sister and I are kept very busy

The flight was brilliant, considering I had been quite nervous about it. Lucy moaned a bit when we were coming down to land, but apart from that she just snoozed and charmed the stewardess's.

She enjoys all the noise her three cousins make and doesn't seem to have any trouble getting to sleep with it all, which had been another worry for her mama. She does however wake up really early, 5 - 5.30, not cool. I have also started feeding her some lumpy stuff with a spoon to save time and cleaning. There's a lot of cleaning involved with all the kids here already Hopefully she can go back to full blw once we're back to our serene (by comparison) life back in blighty.

Anyway, off to bed now. I'll try to log on again soon and join in a bit more. Hope you have a good night. Sounds like all babies are developing really well and are keeping all mums busy and entertained. xx

scarlotti · 23/06/2010 21:39

Hi all

Got a lovely lie in until 6:30 this morning!! Made a nice change from all the 5am starts. Only wish I knew why it was he slept longer but I don't

We are on 3 meals a day and snacks, yet he still has a good 4 or 5 oz at dream feed at 10, then will wake in the night for a small feed too I presumed it would have dropped by now so I guess I'm going to have to help that along. This morning worked really well as he slept until 6:30 then had a good feed, so how I'd like it to be every morning!

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine. Enjoying it here but it is making bedtimes interesting as the loft is just so hot!

Hey ladies! I am back. I have had a hard couple of weeks with serious lack of sleep, as I am sure many of you are. 4-5am starts have stopped me functioning, and tbh, horrible as this might sound, any whisper of any baby sleeping AT ALL has made me feel terrible as a mother, although I know it is not me (or not completely me!)

But I have been on under a new name just to talk about the bad sleep, as I felt awful to keep on burdening you with negativity.

But, I had to tell you all. DS crawled this morning! backwards! but he now won't stop! He sort of did it the other day, he started 'dry humping' his bouncy chair (that is how DH describes it!) after turning in it, then did the same on the floor, on all fours, humping backwards and forwards, clearly attempting to move. Then, he ended up going backwards before grinning and stopping. This morning, he was on the floor mat, and crawled off it backwards, to the plant pot, spun around, hand in plant and started turfing the soil out! So I moved him back, sat him up, turned, then turned back and he was halfway across the floor on his front, crawling backwards! I meant it is not a full crawl, it is going on all fours, then pushing with arms and legs, ends up on tummy, then back up onto all fours. And now every time I put him down, he leans forward, tucks his legs under him and flips onto his front that way, rather than rolling! And he is loving it, he is chattering away most of the time, then he seems to want to stop but can't! He just keeps doing it!

I shall catch up on the posts, missed you guys, but won't be on much atm.

PreggoK8 · 24/06/2010 15:21

Scarlotti - how strange, that's exactly the same time Joe slept until this morning and he's been getting up between 4 and 5.30am for the last few weeks. We did install a blackout blind last night though. I'm just hoping in our case it's because of the blind and he'll stick with it and it's not a fluke!! In such a better mood today because of the sleep, utterly amazing. Really, really hope it lasts. Hope it does for you too, I will keep my fingers crossed for you!!
Pav so sorry to hear you're having a hard time. I really sympathise as I thought I was really losing the plot when Joe was getting up constantly through the night and then getting up so early, and when he cried for hours because of the teething I just didn't feel like I could cope. Have you been getting good help and support on here using your different name? If you ever want to talk, I'm happy to listen, as I'm sure all of the other lovely ladies on here are too. We're all in this together remember!

weston · 24/06/2010 17:06

can i moan about being sick of sick...day 4 of puke...can't keep anything down and getting worse not better...where's that wine bottle...

Laugs · 24/06/2010 17:16

Hi everyone, I've been off for a few weeks and can't possibly catch up. I've been waiting to have time to read the whole thread but I just haven't got any, and then the weeks go by and I miss more, so I'm going to sidle back in, whistling to myself and hope nobody minds.

I hope you're all well?

I have been sooo busy recently. I stupidly took on some work that I don't want to nor have time to do and am really regretting it. James is becoming much more active and a bit of a handful. DD is wild as ever... I'm worn out! And DH has gone to Glastonbury! My dad's coming up tomorrow for the weekend though so I think we'll survive.

weston sorry to hear you're sick. What's wrong?

Pav yay for R crawling! (although I'm quite hoping J waits a bit longer... (lazy ))

Laugs · 24/06/2010 17:18

I've just noticed that that hardly anyone's posted this week. Are we all exhausted??

weston · 24/06/2010 18:26

sorry its not me thats sick its DD2! she can't keep anything down, just what u need in this heat! brought her to docs who said to just keep giving her water...

scarlotti · 24/06/2010 22:10

Laugs and Pav good to see you ladies back and hooray for the crawling

preggo got a 6am start this morning, so not quite as good but still better than 5!

weston sorry for your dd, hope she's on the mend soon. When my dd was ill a while back and couldn't keep anything down, gp suggested ice lollies to keep hydrated - worth a shot maybe? Just to reassure you too, you can live for about 90 days without food as long as you have water so don't worry if she's not eating.

Ioan seems to be improving now he's on the constipation medicine. Hopefully it will carry on getting better and bother him less. So nice to see him able to go and not be in pain, poor lamb.
He's gone into a cot tonight too, so the hammock is now officially retired Keeping him in with me for a little while longer as we go away in 2 weeks and he'll be in the same room as us then, so no point moving him before. Was so sweet when he went to bed, when he realised that his cuddly lion was in bed with him! Think he likes the extra room too.

Well, sending lots of sleep vibes to all the babies and hoping you all have a lovely day tomorrow.

SirBoobAlot · 24/06/2010 22:11

Pav You poor thing. But yey for backwards crawling Clever boy! And don't be silly - we're hear to listen and to rant, that's what we do. I hope you get some more sleep soon.

Laugs I'm knackered! And its getting harder to keep up and post

Weston hope DD feels better soon

I'm going to my old sixth form tomorrow to introduce some of the girls I used to supervise for Prep. to Bryn. Am stupidly nervous. That place brings back a lot of memories, and not all of them are good... Plus its quite imtimidating!

Went to the dentist today and I have to have a mouth guard to wear at night as apparently I am grinding my teeth

Oxford ladies - I know there's a few of you but can't remember who you all are I shall be up next weekend and left to my own devices on the Saturday (DP and his mum need to go clear his dads house) so would anyone care to meet up? FB if you would

weston · 25/06/2010 18:54

thanks everyone, rang the doctor again as was really worried that she isn't even keeping water down but as there is a delay between when she takes it and when it comes back up it means some of it is going in!! and good tip re. ice lollies, made some and she loves it cause she still wants to eat so gives her something to do with her hands!

interesting re. mouthguard as dentist just tole me that same thing, link between babies and griding?!

oh and to top it all off DD1 has got chicken pox!! so once DD2 gets over this she will have pox to look forward to!!

Ninjacat · 25/06/2010 20:48

I'm trying to sneak back in too.

DS1 has a cold and a temp, Alfie is crawling and DH is in Glastonbury until Monday night and I have a workshop to prepare for, a script to write and 10 computers to load with software before Tuesday. HELP!!!!

Weston hope your little ones are on the mend soon.

Some of you have changed your names. Could someone fill me in on who is who?

Laugs did you get the book?

Pav sorry to hear about lack of sleep.

Sca any news on you and DP? Hope DDs exams are going well.

DS and I are watchin Monty Pythons Holy Grail (and I'm trying not to panic that he is ill)

Laugs · 25/06/2010 21:33

Ninja Yes, I got the book! Thanks so much and I'm so sorry I haven't thanked you yet
These DHs swanning off to Glastonbury eh! They owe us one. (BTW, did you get married and I missed it??)

weston your poor DD! Hope she gets well soon and the ice lollies work

SirB that does look posh, but nothing you can't handle I'm sure!
I notice myself clenching my teeth quite a bit at the moment. Must be stressed.

Scarlotti sorry to hear Ioan is constipated again. James has been again too, and is still eating very little. How much do other people's babies eat now? (He will be 7 months next week)

Ninjacat · 25/06/2010 22:03

Freudian slip Laugs. Getting hitched in April.

DP is working so not exactly all the fun of the fair.

hobnob57 · 26/06/2010 00:11

waving to all

weston · 26/06/2010 08:20

chicken pox in the under ones', see you can't give them piroton, anything they can have??

JuicyLips · 26/06/2010 09:54

Weston, dont think there is anything you can give them. I just smothered Annabelle with calamine lotion and cuddled her a lot.

MissInterpret · 26/06/2010 13:16

Hello. Another one not been on for ages as so much going on - travels and visitors and sunshine and ... well, I don't know where else the time goes but it does! I try to read but been a bit lazy about posting...

Sorry to hear of sick little one and Glastonbury widows.

Lovely to see you back pav and laugs Laugs re eating Rosa will be 7mths next weekend and she eats a LOT but always has done, feeding on demand as I was, she was rarely off boob it felt! She has 3 meals, a mix of spoons and choosing her own and sucking/drooling/teething it to death. She likes texture and is reluctant to have v smooth or pureed stuff unless accompanied e.g. yoghurt with stewed fruit. Also has pasta, couscous, rice, bread. She's rampaging her way through the store cupboard!

I'm never sure if I should just feed her as much as she wants or try to measure portions. She POOs a lot so maybe I give her too much? But then, that's the same as BFing too, she always was a 3-4 filled nappies a day..!
