Veggiemummy · 25/05/2010 18:53

Oh and Rubs DS2 has been eating mango for months.

JB sorry about the hives, JJ sorry about the voice, did you enjoy performing though?

Trace I forgot up say you post yesterday had me in a fit of giggles, DH kept wanting to know what I was snorting about.

Lady I love 'zone of serenity'. Sounds like something from a Spa mission statement. 'Here at blah blah spa & health farm we aspire to a create a zone of serenity where you can forget your cares....yadda yadda yadda'.

Right that three from me.

Oh Kiwi I have now added a kick me while your feeding and it's a red card, your off, rule. DS2 gets kicky legs while he's feeding which was fine when he was smaller but now he kicks my arms, my chin, my other boob and god help him my coffee! This afternoon while he was mid mook mook I said 'Veggiebaby! If you kick one more time your off, no more mook mook!' The look in his eye was priceless, he immediately ceased any leg movement.

Right I've bored you enough better go.

KiwiPanda · 25/05/2010 18:59

Well clever Veggiebaby for saying milk/mook! DD has learned the sign for milk and now does it constantly. In fact her boob obsession is getting to me at the mo but I might post a thread in the feeding section on that to see if there are other long term feeders/diary factories I can whinge with

I did London Tri (Olympic) and Blenheim (sprint) a couple of times and I used to do the Nike 10k every year too. I was ok at swim, ok at bike but strangely quite good at run - strange because my Tri 10k times were always better than the straight run times which is just plain weird. Never figured that one out!

Veggiemummy · 25/05/2010 19:36

Oh no he can't say mook mook (he can rant and play act like a monkey if you need this done to illustrate a primate of any discription, but can't ask for his mothers milk) it's just our family word for milk, it comes from my 3rd niece calling milk mook mook when she was little. DS1 still calls milk mook mook when he's st home though he calls it milk at school, outside the home. I'm sure Avo's house guest from the other day would disapprove of such degrading baby talk.

Maybe your better at long distance stuff Kiwi, like you would probably do well at half marathons or even marathons. I actually prefer longer things because I'd rather plod along than have to run fast. I like sprints but prefer olympic or classic distance because then I don't have to run fast. That sounds quite bizarre, i will quite happily run twice the distance so I don't have to run fast. Clearly I'm not very hardcore, though I did London marathon once. I was planning on doing a half ironman and had started training but I then went snowboarding and did a particularly spectacular cartwheel at high speed and messed up my shoulder. Not only did I blow my season and half ironman training our wedding was 4 weeks later so I have a special bump on my shoulder for the photos & had a to painfully force myself into the tight after party dress. I got pregnant with DS1 in the December of that year so have never gone back to proper training.

spotofcheerfulness · 25/05/2010 19:42

evening all, wow it's been quite a day on here. Rubes, my fingers are crossed everything works out for the best with DB. And at least you've said what you wanted and the ball's in his court. But I agree with whoever said leave it a bit and then make a casual, no-pressure contact again just to test the waters.

Veggie, blimey you are a whirlwind, I felt exhausted just reading about your afternoon. I hope you are ok, you always seem to have so much energy. And I love hearing the tales of your boys, i can just imagine them and their adventures abroad.

I'm sorry no more personals as I am shattered, had quite a day, after I posted this morning I started getting some spotting and rang Gp but couldn't get appt until 5pm. Meanwhile T developed a temperature of 39.7 and has been upset and refusing to nap all day. Think must be teeth. Anyway, saw the doc and she has referred me to the early pregnancy unit and i should get a scan in the next 48 hours. It's very weird not knowing what's going on and also knowing I'll have a very short and broken night ahead. Dp has been a star though and I have fallen a little more in love wiht him today.

WomanwiththeYellowHat · 25/05/2010 20:01

Hello again [emerges bleary eyed on Day 6 of pox-watch]

overjoyed today to discover some the girls WHO HAVE HAD THE POX!! We were so excited to get in the buggy and leave the house to go somewhere it was hilarious. All the excitement proved too much as I can hear the girls upstairs now playing some crazy game in their room which sounds very much as if DD2 is trying to destroy her cot by kicking it as hard as she can while DD1 watches trying to dissuade her by shouting 'no, no' but actually clearly providing an enthusiastic audience. We love that they share, but it does have its downsides.....!

spot really good that you can get some help now. In my first pregnancy I was a wreck (lots of family stuff but also just massive massive anxiety about being pregnant - completely disproportionate but obviously didn't feel like it at the time) and I definitely think I would have benefitted from some help rather than trying to plod on myself, so great to get help and someone to talk to.

Veggie your day makes me even more exhausted just thinking about it! Bet you are ready for a relaxing evening now.

Banging is louder now - going to survey the damage....

traceface · 25/05/2010 20:05

sorry no time for a biggy but just wanted to wish you well spot. Hope you get a scan soon and hopefully some reassurance. And poor ds. Is there anyone who can help out with T tomorrow so you can rest? Thinking of you and wish I was nearer.

OP posts:
spotofcheerfulness · 25/05/2010 20:12

Thanks, Trace, and everyone else for being so lovely. Unfortunately we don't really have any support here and if he's as poorly as he was today he'll just be wanting me I suspect but am taking it a few hours at a time and keeping in mind that it'll all be ok, whatever happens.

WomanwiththeYellowHat · 25/05/2010 20:14

spot sorry - x-posted. Hope you get a scan tomorrow, and that all is well, and that you manage to get some sleep tonight.

LadyThompson · 25/05/2010 20:15

Right, Sweden in the morning, hectic day and haven't packed so much as a pant, so I am running on here as I always do to say if I don't manage to post properly later, see you in June (except for Avo who I shall see in Sweden, hopefully). Love to you all but especially to those under the cosh, like Spot and Rubes.

JollyBear · 25/05/2010 20:17

spot I hope the scan happens quickly so you can get some reassurance. Stastically it is much more likely that all is fine and your bean is just nesting in a bit more. Your DH sounds like a gem, it is a good job you married him . Hope T has a reasonable night. Teething is a right bugger.

Rubena · 25/05/2010 20:23

Lady didn't know you were off so soon. I've been in my own world haven't I. When are you back? The 1st is it? Is Avo off tomorrow too? Will see you when you return...

Spot, hope you get your scan very soon and all is fine. Hope you are ok. Do try the gels if you haven't already for T - as Lady says, I do swear by them.

Thanks for all the support re db. I'm feeling way better and as someone said ball / court and all that. I'm leaving it for now until I have some photo's or something to email.

Veggie your day sounded hilarious, and busy! 20k's strewth you are a machine doing all that and with the kids, on a bike, and in a foreign country - remarkable.

JollyBear · 25/05/2010 20:24

I forgot to say...

kiwi DD did milk constantly when she learnt the sign - I think waitinggirls DD did the same - she did food all the time! I think it is just the novelty of being able to communcate. Since DD has learnt more signs she has stopped asking for milk all the time!

I hope my rant before didn't come across the wrong way . I'm not anti-church or anti-modern semi, honestly! I am just frustrated at the in-laws suggesting the opposite of what the situation would be if we moved. Hope I didn't offend.

Veggiemummy · 25/05/2010 21:00

JB I'm not offended but then I don't go to church, however I'm sure our loving church going ladies couldn't possibly be offended. I felt it was quite obvious you were venting your frustration at your ILs. I can def see why you'd be frustrated.

Spot poor you, hope you have an ok night then DVDs and INTG on the couch all day tomorrow. I had spotting with DS2 but just very light. Will be thinking of you, putting the White light over you and all that. I thought that was lovely what you said about your DP.

By the way JB it's not Spots DH it's her DP, she's not married, are you forcing your values on her or something, next you'll be saying her kids should go to a church school!!!!

LadyThompson · 25/05/2010 21:54

Right, have a fraction more time (though have still packed SFA other than iPod dock, hairdryer, portable dvd player and my BlackBerry charger). Avo is going on Friday for the weekend, I am going for 6 days so yes, Rubes, back 1 June. Is that when you are off to Spain? As for your DB, my short answer is if your email to him made you feel better then it was worth sending

Spot, I tell you what, if I wasn't going to Sweden tomorrow I would offer you my services for T. I really hope things are ok and beaming you high intensity super positive vibes. That's lovely that your DP has been a brick. I will be checking on your news anxiously when I am in Sweden to see how you are. Gloves up.

JB, I am also going to collect more stickers but I haven't got any swapsies yet, but your DH is welcome to trade with me Your ILs sound like a pain in the crack. I have nothing against church schools - matter of fact I went to one, loved it and would love DD to go to one - however, they have no right to start chuntering about it and so unhelpfully. And as for slagging off your parents' house, soon to be yours, words fail me! So, fortifying and soothing vibes to you.

JJ, you are leaning on a barn door with me about tradesmen. Our plasterer has been a gem, of all of them, but utterly exorbitant. Mind you, the general rule nowadays seems to be that people are exorbitant AND crap. I hope you can sort it all out, I know you have been waiting for that kitchen for ages. O's diet has reverted to what she was eating before, actually. I would rather she ate blueberries, raisins, yoghurts and bananas rather than turned her nose up entirely at chocolate biscuits, fried foods, cheese and so on, therein consuming NO calories. Just waiting for the 'ossie appointment really.

Nolda, your trip to Rome sounds heavenly and I will report back to you about the motherland!

Veggie, you are wonderwoman with all that zooming about.

Right, there were many other things I wanted to say to many other people but I really must try to pack the gear. How I loathe packing, and I am really crap at it. However, DH had a reusable list and I have done that too ever since - it says things like pants, camera, toothbrush, (lipsticks x 6, eye pencil sharpener, nourishing shine spray) - but really I need to make one for DD and DP as I seem to pack for them too now Au revoir, mes amis xxxxx

katie3677 · 25/05/2010 21:57

Absolutely no hope of doing a proper catch up but just wanted to say Spot hope everything is ok and that you get a scan tomorrow to reassure you. And Rubes glad you are feeling chirpier, FWIW I think you did the right thing.
I am having a manic week with architects/ builders etc at the cottages which is why I haven't had a proper chance to catch up. Tomorrow is DS's assessment which I am a little nervous about. I know it is best to find out if something is wrong now, but somehow I just don't really want to know.
Had my blood tests this morning to see if there is anything wrong hormonally and also to check on the diabetes, so hopefully all well there.
Right, need to do packed lunches so must rush but hugs to all.

Veggiemummy · 25/05/2010 22:20

Gosh Katie, how amazing, so it's all really happening, so exciting!

Nolda im jealous of Rome, I love, Italy have been several times and even got married there but i've only ever been to Romes airpoirt and main train station.

Lady enjoy Sweden, hope the packing is fairly painless.

Dora I laughed at the your DD1 'discouraging' DD2's kicking.

JamInMyWellies · 26/05/2010 07:00

Spot thinking of you, hope all is well.

LadyT have a fab time in Sweden.

Katie wowzers it's all go!

Pox jail is going to turn me into a fatty. All I did yesterday was eat. Poor old A is in a dreadful mess. There are so many spots of course all the worst ones are round hi nether regions vv uncomfortable. He is spending alot of time in the bath with porridge oats in a muslin.

Right shower, ge dressed start it all again.

KiwiPanda · 26/05/2010 07:02

Spot how are you this morning? Hope you got some proper rest/sleep

LadyT to be honest little O's diet sounds far better than the awful fatty fried one. I was kind of shocked that anyone would tell you to feed a baby/toddler such unhealthy food. Yes it's got calories but it's also got fats that are proven to be bad for you .. Surely far better to instil a love of fresh healthy food like you are doing, especially as she (bless her) prefers it anyway! Things like avocados and bananas are fairly high calore (as fruit goes) and SO much better for a sensitive, developing system [health food rant over]

Veggie I dreamt last night that we did a triathlon together!! It was sort of a cross between London and Melbourne, only I think we did Ironman run at the end. Ha!

And talking of last night, DD slept [drum roll please] 7pm to 6.35am!!!! That's the best EVER! There were a few squeaks at various points and I thought she'd woken at 5.50 but she went back to sleep. Wow!

Beans33 · 26/05/2010 08:17

Well done Kiwiette! V exciting that she slept so long

Spot - are you ok this morning? Am worried about you. Sure all fine, but let us know when your appointment is.

I put vaseline and olive oil in DD's hair last night to try to get rid of the cradle cap. Looked awful because she's got so much hair! Washed it thi s morning and it hasn't really come out at all. She looks greasy. Never mind!

Lady - have a great time.

Veggie - I hope you had a good sleep after your marathon day!

We watched Paranormal Activity last night. V scary and v good film. BUT I didn't dare go for my nightly pee in the night last night. Luckily I hadn't drunk much water the night before and only dared to finally go for a pee at 6.15 this morning!!!! Weedy!!!

EffiePerine · 26/05/2010 08:20

Finally worked out how to change the display so it
loads quicker!

Katie: hope the referral is useful. It's been a while coming, hasn't it? How is your DS getting on at school atm?

Spot: did you get a time for your scan? Sounds like your gp is on the ball. Thinking of you lovey.

Veggie: an epic day! Loved the image of DS2 doing his monkey impression in the post office.

We got a lie-in this morning - 7am! I heard a few peeps from the DSs from about 5 as usual but ignored them and they went back to
sleep. Not as sunny today wh prob helps.

spotofcheerfulness · 26/05/2010 08:48

Hi everyone, thanks for thinking of me. Later logon than usual as T was up for hours in the night with a terrible fever, he's still asleep now.
Unfortunately as I only saw the doc at 5pm last night she'll on;y be able to speak to the EPU this morning, so not holding out any hope of a scan for today.

That's great on the sleep, Kiwi and Effie, an hour can make all the difference. I think the weather and temp also help as E says.

Jam I hope today marks the end of pox jail. It sounds hideous. All my sympathies, and I'm not surprised you've been eating, it's all I'd do!

Katie, good luck for DSs assessment. Thinking of you.

LadyT: Skriva på maskin texten du önskan till översätta här. njuta av Sverige!.

I'm sure that's not what I mean, I on;y put 2 words in to the dictionary!

Beans33 · 26/05/2010 08:52

How is the spotting this morning, Spot? And how is T doing?

Just one quick question - does anyone else find they get a bit lonely during the day with their DC/s? I LOVE being on maternity leave and spending time with Whizz, but I do sometimes miss adult company and find it a bit limiting. I feel bad saying that, as couldn't love DD any more than I do, but at the same time, I feel a bit low. Does that make sense?

KiwiPanda · 26/05/2010 09:28

Beans of COURSE it makes sense! I totally felt like that and still do if my three days with DD (when not at work) coincide with DH working. There is nothing wrong with that, it's totally normal - it's not like you can have a proper conversation with little Whizzlette, however adorable she may be! I always tried to plan something every day that involved talking to adults - whether it be a playgroup to chat to other mums or meeting up with friends. I also need to do some serious planning for the weekends when DH is at the World Cup or I will be wallowing in loneliness! Also, I have days when I just think "god this is boring" because all DD wants to do, even in a good mood, is just be "walked" around holding my hand or turn pages of her books. I have come to the conclusion that my best time, as it were, as a mum will be when we can talk to each other and do proper activities like art, or cooking. Probably from around 2 I guess? Anyway I just wanted to say don't think for a minute that there's anything wrong with thinking like that, I doubt there's a mother in the land who hasn't felt like that!

spotofcheerfulness · 26/05/2010 09:46

The spotting actually stopped yesterday Beans and was more old brown blood than fresh red stuff.

T has lost his voice this morning and I had to wake him at 9. Not surprising since he was up most of the night. He's v unsteady on his feet, like an old man .

I totally agre with you on the loneliness front, which is why every day I go to some sort of group with him, if only to chat to someone who can talk back! I am rubbish at staying at home, can't stick it for more than a couple of hours max, so I would be terrible quarantined with the pox for eg.

Avocadoes · 26/05/2010 10:01

Morning

I've just caught up and want to send Spot all the positive vibes I can. You sound like you are being very brave. I'm so glad your DP has been such a star. Thinking of you.

I'm also thinking of you Rubes. I hope DB gate comes to an amicable end soon. Is your SiL intending to still use your free flights for her trip. I jolly well hope not!

Nice to see you again Urbane. Has work calmed down a bit?

Oh and Beans, what you are saying about boredom and lonliness at home with a baby is very normal. When I had DD1 I loved her to bits, I loved being a mum and I loved maternity leave but that didn't mean I found every moment with a baby thrilling. In fact I had to have a plan for every single day and that plan needed to contain several hours of adult interaction either with NCT people, at a toddler group, at swim
class etc. Once DD1 turned about two and a half it was more easy to keep myself entertained through her by doing cooking, art, puzzles or just chatting but I still prefer to see other adults for at least a cup of coffee on my days off.

Girls I can't find our FB group so I need to ask which of you has a giraffe's head as a profile picture. Sorry, I know I should know but I'm confused. Whoever you are I was at a friend's house last night and she was showing me something on FB and you had commented on her friends status. Weird huh. Six degrees of seperation and all that.
