Rubena · 24/05/2010 11:11

he's just woken - 2 hour nap - may well screw me for this afternoon

reply from db in. Was very confusing. He said ok to all of it but then said she might be taking the kids herself over with her and he's not sure if he's coming at all I think the whole thing is just to see what I say, but now I'm thoroughly confused. Have replied and said as much, but shall just leave it and see what happens now.

KiwiPanda · 24/05/2010 13:38

Hey guys just to pass on a message from Beans - after posting her offer of paddling pool for any takers, her computer broke! So if you fancy it, err, I guess post on here and I'll pass on message (obviously don't want to just post her mobile number on here!)

spotofcheerfulness · 24/05/2010 14:35

BBQ would be lovely, Rubs, def up for that.
Glad you got a reply from DB though, even if it wasn't very helpful. I think leaving it and seeing what they come up with nearer the time is the best idea. You've laid your cards on the table, whatever they choose to do now is up to them.

I've been meaning to say for ages, thanks again to whoever bought me my secret santa - it was a Christmas book with loads of doors to open. It's T's absolute favourite now and he brings it to me at least once a day to read.

Veggiemummy · 24/05/2010 19:06

Rubs do you mean she is bringing his kids over? Your nieces/nephews? That's a bit much, they are practically breaking up and now she's taking his kids overseas, very nice of her though.

Beans sounds like your DH didn't like getting told off so had to come back with something to tell you off about, a bit childish really. The boys love playing with DH & I together, though I tend to let them crawl all over DH then laugh when they step on his nuts!!! That's our family playtime.

Hope you keep improving Kiwi, if DH is sick tomorrow it might be DVDs and snuggled on the couch I think.

We had a nice day here again lovely sunny and warm and as it's Whitsun weekend and a bank holiday we all headed to the beach just before lunch. I took my wetsuit and did a 40 min swim up the beach. Definitely needed the wetsuit that north sea is feeding, I couldn't feel my face for the first 10 mins. Was nice to do it though I'm going to try to swim out there at least once a week over summer, if it warms up enough I'll swim a couple of times a week if I can. Ruined any weight loss from the swim by eating a chip buttie afterwards. We caked the boys in sunscreen and had hats on them but if course DS2 tried rubbing it off and would keep his hat on so now had red burnt blotches on his face which I feel terrible about. I did manage to get DS2 to have a 45 min sleep in the little sun protection tent thing we have so that was good and both boys had a great time, they are realising the beach bum within them.

Veggiemummy · 24/05/2010 19:29

Rubs Ive found a few parks here that are completely contained, it's so much nicer when I can actually chat to friends without worrying that DS2 will end up in the water (the country and all it's bloody waterways!). However, one little play area which is brilliant as all it's play stuff is low to the ground (climbing frames another cause of stress with upwardly mobile children) has a little latch gate which is great and is difficult for kids to open BUT every adult coming through leaves the flippin thing open. Drives me mad I end up still having a broken conversation with my friend as I keep having to get up and close the gate. DS2 has also gotten wise to it and flies towards the gate whenever anyone comes through it.

traceface · 24/05/2010 19:46

hi ladies
veggie swimming in the sea for 40 mins! You are awesome I'm so impressed with your energy and motivation

OP posts:
traceface · 24/05/2010 19:50

just to clarify, I just mean because of geography and logisitics and all that - I'm not about to end it all.
Oh and I think it was 5p per telescope, not 20p.

LadyThompson · 24/05/2010 19:57

Hello, back from London tahn - I did send Beans a message on FB but she obviously didn't get it - and I can't seem to post on here somehow from new phone. It just doesn't seem to work. Anyway, by the time I had finished at the scan and walked from Harley St to Maida Vale, picked up some lunch, collected my post and changed DD's nappy there was bugger all time left before my consultant's appt. I would like to see you before you have DC2, Beans, so we should arrange a lunch in your part of town and perhaps a few of us could get down. Not long to go now, is there?! Sorry your DH is being a twonk.

Rubes, I asked Lorin about your pain (don't know if you still have it) and she said it was really hard to say without seeing you but she said it sounded to her like it was to do with the positioning of the baby. However, she said that even though it didn't sound like it could be something alarming, you ought to have been looked at properly, although we already know that. Oh, and fwiw I too think your bro may be trying to elicit a reaction.

Had the scan and they saw the heart properly and the baby's face (briefly!) - I think she looks like me! Which is a ludicrous thing to say about a 21 week foetus but there we go, she did rather

Spot, I only have the Davina workout dvd and to be honest I don't think it's that good (mainly because her gurning and mugging to camera drives me nutty). The pre-natal workout appears to have been devised with a nonagenarian in mind, as well (and I am hardly Daley Thompson myself). I suppose, though, if you were very pregnant it might just get you moving enough to prevent a thrombosis.

Oooh, Veggie, don't mention chip butties. I could just eat one. And they are vvvv bad. I finally posted your parcel today and I packaged it up WEEKS ago, so if there is a message inside which says Happy Easter, or some such...you know why Sorry.

Have you got an outfit sorted for your hen weekend, DaisyD? I have to get a wedding outfit tomorrow. I can only disguise my pregnancy in certain clothes now.

Where's Effie? Syb, how are you now? Turnip? Urbane? And I wonder how Modernlove is getting on, as she was about as pregnant as me. And Mom as well, where are you? And everyone else who is sitting on their hands

LadyThompson · 24/05/2010 20:09

X-posted with you, Trace. I am with you on the seaside, I love it. Any seaside will do. Hey, that was quite a canny trick with the telescopes If only they had them in Oxford, I could really do with supplementing my income. I would like to meet our Northern contingent very much, but I only ever go to Sheffield to see my friends there and then it's often quite rushed. However, at some point, if anyone could contemplate going there...Also DP might have a trial in Leeds in June, and it's over a week so DD and I may go and visit him. Will let people know if I do!

traceface · 24/05/2010 20:13

ah lovely lady how exciting to see your dd2's face! So pleased that she looks healthy. I feel like I'm living these pregnancies with you all!
Oh and yes it would be fab if you came to Leeds

sybilfaulty · 24/05/2010 20:18

Hello everyone!

First of all, thank you all so much for being so kind to me last week. I really appreciate it and it made me feel very looked after, so huge thanks. I am feeing a bit better, still look as though I have done 6 rounds of boxing but am at least more chipper and less wobbly. Veg, thanks so much for your text. I have repied and I too will be sending you a parcel this week if I can get my fat bum into gear.

We are all ill here. DD2 has bleeding gums after her dose of foot and mouth, DD1 has a temp of 40 and M has sticky eyes. We have a Dr's appt tom so I hope she'll do me 3 for the price of 1 so to speak.

Beans, I would love to meet up and will be at the Latch next Wed with DD1 if she is well enough. COuld we pop in for coffee?? I can't remember when you are moving but I too would love to see you before you pop if possible. Am only round the corner from Streatham in Dulwich anyway. LadyT, I always feel old when I go to Oxford so tend to avoid the plce but would be happy to meet you in a Cotswold village for a spot of cheerfulness and a delicious lunch if that would suit? Mons and Weds good for me as I am usually child free. Rubes, I would also love to see you - perhaps we can do a S london mini meet near Beans (in the J) or I can come to your gaff or to licensed premises nearby? Summer is here and I fancy a few day trips if you'll all have me. I always come armed with cake when I visit as the kids and I love to bake, even when hot.

Dora, I am so sorry to hear your sad news about your FIL. How are you all now? Am thinking ofyou.

WG, I remember you said you were away, but if you are looking in I hope things with DH are on a more even keel. I will chase for those nos for Relate type people too. Sorry, have been rubbish.

Avo, I think that woman needs a sense of humour and QUICKLY. What a ridiculous thing for her to have said. I don't think you would do any damage at all and to suggest otherwise is really reading too much into things.

Rubes, I LOVE Georgia and would have had it for DD2 had her surname not started with a J. What other names are on your list?

Kiwi, I hope you are a little better today. Watch the boobs though as I have had mastitis twice which started with a fever but did not develop into boob pain until later on.

Hello Trace, lovely to see you. And lovely Daisy too, hope you are getting a bit more support from DH now.

I can#t remember any more as have only skimmed quickly. Hello to everyone I've missed, look forward to a proper natter soon and lots of love to everyone.

sybilfaulty · 24/05/2010 20:20

Oh, Lisa, by the way M looked just like DD2 on the scan picture and looks like a male version of her in RL. So it's entirely possible that DD2 looks very like you. How lovely - lucky wee girl .

Beans33 · 24/05/2010 20:50

I'M BACK! Hi ALL! So sorry went quiet and thanks massively to kiwi and lady for your messages! I am here now, though. We have a v old monitor, which tends to die every now and again and I can't then do anything!

Sybs - what time are you at Latchmere? We'd love to see you either before or after - are you on FB? If so, will send you over my mobile number - if not, then we'll sort something out re email/number etc on here!

Plus would love to do a CJ meet up pre newbie coming. Although we're moving house as of 4th JUne, so things are starting to look a bit tight!!! But can always hop up to CJ for a coffee/tea anyway. Would be ace.

And thanks for kind words re DH - he has been lovely this evening and made supper and even apologised on email this morning - which clearly I didn't get as computer fecked up, damn it!

Veggie - you are a sports fiend - I'm so impressed with the swimming. I delved into the paddling pool, which clearly terrified DD who started wailing. I think she could see my bikini line. Which clearly I can't!

Big love to all.

xxxx

daisydora · 24/05/2010 21:10

trace hello, you made me giggle explaining yourself about seeing people in RL. It strikes me sometimes that I feel I know some of you ladies so well and yet we have never met.

rubes forgot to say hooray for MATleave earlier, and I agree with Ladyt I think your DB is waiting for you to react.

veggie swimming in the sea when its that cold. You are bloody bonkers but also quite inspiring good on ya gal!

beans at your bikini line!!

Yes I have a rough idea what I am wearing on my hen do, although its two nights so twice as much to sort out/stress about etc. The 'hen' rang today bless her we have a full on itinerary any everything! I'll collapse I am too old at 33 to be drinking all hours of the day and night. Although we are staying at a spa hotel, so me and my BF are thinking of getting some sort of treatment on the Saturday afternoon

LadyThompson · 24/05/2010 21:10

Your due date is mid-June isn't it Beans? I am in Sweden until 1st June then on another course 4/5 June; am seeing Katie and Rubes on 7th but later that week or more likely the week beginning 14 June...will you be totally at the end of your rope by then, do you think?

Sybs my dear, you would be so very welcome. I will text you when I get back from Sweden but my movements are as above. Indeed, when I move, for the time it takes DD2 to move out of our room and into what's going to be DD's room, we will have two spare rooms with large beds in. So should anyone wish to stay, I can house children as well as adults. I am so so glad you are feeling more robust. Big hugs to you still.

Trace, I will let you know if DP gets that trial and if I visit him. I haven't been to Leeds for ages, it's a very fine city.

DP is playing golf this evening. I am quite envious, it's a lovely evening for it. He might be thoughtless in some areas but I must say that if EVER he goes out in the evening he always asks me very politely if I would mind if he did so. I never do, of course, and want him to please himself about what he does; but all the same, whilst needless it is also rather charming.

LadyThompson · 24/05/2010 21:48

Oh, and I keep yakking on but some interesting things in the news today. Child Trust Funds have been scrapped - babies born before 1 August will get normal amount, babies born between then and 1 January will get £50 and babies born after that will get boss all. I understand why they have been scrapped though. Cuts obviously have to be made and that one is a no brainer.

Also, Andrew Wakefield has been struck off - the MMR/autism bloke. It's taken ages. Mind you, a friend of DP's prosecutes in GMC cases and a backlog of cases of 5 years was mentioned

Finally, I feel a bit sorry for Fergie. I know she is daft and I know the way newspapers work and everything but I hate those stings the NOTW does, they seem so spiteful.

Rubena · 24/05/2010 21:52

Hello,
Thanks all for the db thoughts. I'm thinking you are right. His email just didn't make sense and of course I haven't had a reply when I asked what the feck he was on about (not in so many wordds of course!) Vaggie yes his email just reads as follows (summarized) Yeah no problem - got your email, [dp] is taking kids, [exdw] sort of agreed. She will pay full fare for all of them. I'm not going for that long (3 weeks) if I go at all. What [dp] told you is utter bullshit, but whatever. I hear she apologized to you but got no response. Good luck with bub. Please don't call her [xxx]!NZ (trip)is a no from me.

V odd don't get it at all.....

Sybs glad you are feeling better. Would love to meet up with you and beans etc. I'm off now for 2 months! Gotta make the most of it. Where is this place you are meeting Syb? Is there a contained area for kiddies? The only licensed establishment within walking distance from me is a Harvester [eek] or a lovely Spa / Golf country club thingy [lovely] and a couple of pubs a couple of miles away, but you're welcome to have cheerfulness in my garden anytime!
CJ is fairly easy for me as I can come straight in the car if there is any parking about, otherwise the train is not bad either. Just let me know you two / three
I think I need a long soak in the bath today. Went to meet dh and got some shorts and new sandals for ds. I kindly begged asked the shoe shop assistant if she could measure his feet and try on and all that while he was in the buggy but policy is no they can't.... but they have leggo, great, screaming match to try on sandals as wanted to run around shop....found leggo...happy....screaming match to leave leggo......major meltdown when put back in buggy.... major meltdown continues while paying for sandals (which were left on his feet due to hassle of it all) meltdown continues until nice lady in Pumpkin patch gives ds a baloon.... finally dh shows up.... ds all fine again....
We had to stop at Sainsbury's on the way home and since I knew dinner was late for ds atc I got him one of those 'little ready meal things for kids' - chicken pot pie or something. I was going to ask Lady how dd's eating is going as this little ready meal I have never seen ds eat so fast in his life!! I mixed cream cheese in as well, so maybe you should try her on those!
Also great news on the scan - why are they surprised dd2 looks like you? I think dd1 looks exactly like you! Thanks so much for asking about the pain - it actually came back today! (maybe it's stress ) I have finally got a consultant appointment this week so will get her to check me out but I think it could well be the position like she said.
I had loads more I wanted to say but have forgotten.... Sybs so glad you like that name - it's a big fav at the moment - not sure I will reveal them all but the others are quite popular so you all might think I'm silly considering such over used names I have my heart set {I think} on the middle names so I know that makes a differrence.
Anyway, I have a few friends who have used Lush bath bombs during pregnancy, but others have said you need to be careful? I asked in at Lush and the girl seemed a bit dippy and really didn't help much, so does anyone know if they are ok to use during clackerdom?

Rubena · 24/05/2010 21:55

xed lady - I just read that thismorning about the MMR guy too from Spot was it? And dh just said about trust funds... dd scrapes in by 5 days [thanks to C-section]

Rubena · 24/05/2010 22:10

Vaggie - just looked at FB. Your boys are so so cute!
Right I'm adopting Vaggie's 3 post no reply limit

LadyThompson · 24/05/2010 22:28

I think those bath bombs may contain real essential oils, Rubes, could that be the prob? Some of which you have to avoid during pregnancy, as they can start labour or something. It wasn't that anyone was surprised that DD2 looks like me, I just felt daft saying it as she is so, er, young! I wouldn't think you were silly for using a popular name. If there was a name I adored I would use it, whatever. I think that's the golden rule, really. Use the names you love, whether they are popular or freakily unpopular. I love rarer names but there are lots of really popular names I do really like. DD's middle names are Poppy and Alice, both of which I think are pretty high up the charts. (Interestingly, I read today that the Twilight names are topping the US charts). Oh, DD's eating is still much the same as ever, but we fight on. I await the summons from the John Radcliffe...

spotofcheerfulness · 25/05/2010 06:46

eugh, self pity alert. T up for the day at 5.30 after being up ALL NIGHT screaming with tooth pain. I know it's not forever etc etc but has been going on last 3 nights and am fed up. I think I could deal with the early starts if I knew I'd get some uninterrupted sleep before but I can't have got more than 3 hours in the night and it's not helping the nausea.

I think I'm not 100% sure about the move, but I know we can't stay where we are and the new place will be more affordable. But I'm really enjoying having the garden and am feeling that having two might be a bit clastrophobic in a flat.
But then I remember Effie and Poison who were both in one bedders with two DCs and managed really well. I think it's just cos we've had a taste of a house and garden that we could never really afford and it's like we're going smaller with more of us.

I've also made an appt with the doc to see if she can refer me to see a counsellor here. I only had two sessions with the NHS one before I left London but they were really helpful and I can't afford any private sessions. I'm feeling a bit low now and don't want to go on medication while I'm PG if I can help it so if I can see someone it would be great.

Enough of moi. Daisy 33 is def not too old to be drinking all day and night. It keeps you young. And spa treatments are perfect for hangovers.

Sybil, you poor love, that's a lot of illness to deal with, you must be exhausted. I hope the doc comes good with some effective treatment.

LadyT, that's very sweet about seeing DD2's face, technology is just amazing. Esp as you are still able to disguise your clackerdom. I can't believe you're able to at 21 weeks. You are amazing. I already have a pot belly at 8 weeks

Veggie I am at your swimming. I can see how it would be useful as a survival tactic in extremis, but for fun?! Quite, quite bonkers.

Right, teletubbies reaching its limit of interest. "see you" later.

Rubena · 25/05/2010 07:25

db replied to my reply, and basically told me to stop insulting him! Good luck with the baby and not to email him back amongst other things. Probably the hormones but I can't stop crying now. Years of support I've given him and now it's my fault?

sybilfaulty · 25/05/2010 07:33

Oh Rubena, love, I am so sorry you are upset. What a thoughtless and ridiculous thing for him to have sent. I am sure your pg hormones aren't helping. Can you go and get some coffee and sit down for a bit while you calm down? Don't reply to the email now whilst you are upset. So sorry. Am thinking of you.

Beans33 · 25/05/2010 08:25

Oh, Rubes - you poor love. I second what Syb says - don't reply yet. Give yourself a few hours to calm down. Perhaps even a few days - keep him waiting as he will then hopefully realise how out of order he is. Silence is always a good way to keep people on their toes, I think. Ignore him for now.

Have a coffee and a large piece of chocolate. He is clearly being an arse and you need to let him stew for a while.

Big love.
xx

Beans33 · 25/05/2010 08:37

And maybe call him rather than email as it's often better to talk about these things than to write things in an email as they can get misconstrued then.

Thinking of you. x
