PS Have checked what 2kg is - it's 4lbs in 2 weeks - that's really nothing at your stage of pregnancy! Pleeeease don't worry. x

Rubena · 20/05/2010 14:35

Beans - fear not, when I restrict my diet one day, it usually only lasts until lunchtime! No actually today I am trying for all day control as yesterday I had 4 pieces of toast at breakfast, a whole Pad Thai dish at lunch (which was 700 cal's) then a kiddies pizza as ds wouldn't eat it (300 cals) so 1000 cals in lunch alone, so I had soup for dinner but despite the fact the soup was only 100 cals I had about 5 pieces of foccacia bread to go with it

Actually I haven't been on the scales sin ages so I'm hoping it was about 4 weeks since I last weighed and noticed the 2kg gain. I am only about 5kg's short of my total weight gain last time and I still have 9.5 weeks to go! I really don't want to go over my last total as it wasn't too difficult to shed in the end, but I have a feeling I will

Right must get sorted for my midwife appointment....

Rubena · 20/05/2010 14:42

Here's some 3rd Trimester reading
Notice in the weight gain section it says an average of 5kg in the last trimester so i'll be right on target then with exactly the same if I can keep it at only 5kg more.... That's the plan anyway

KiwiPanda · 20/05/2010 14:56

Hmm this maybe a slightly rambling post - one bottle of wine a lunchtime = slightly tipsy KiwiP and MrKiwi... Mmmmm what a lovely meal though. Avo I know The Gate well - actually DH took me there on our second date about 6 trillion years ago and we were there just last Monday... And about 50000 visits im between. Rather frequent visitors! Though i don't think it's in the same league as Terre a Terre, which is much more seasonal/inventive/innovative. Ages ago i interviewed Amanda Powley who owns/runs Terre a Terre and she is soooo lovely.

Anyway, err, I'm a bit tipsy to say anything sensible. DH and I were discussing possible no 2 over lunch and I was rather warming to the idea till he pointed
out bottles of wine over lunch probably not feasible should I be up the duff in near future. Darn it!

Bodemvanstaal · 20/05/2010 17:01

Rubs make sure your getting enough protein love, otherwise you'll be tired.

I'm shattered and I still have Yoga to go to tonight.

Had a lovely afternoon though, had a friend and her two kids over for coffee. She made choc chip cookies that were sooooo yummy.

I check my bum is still not made of steel.

Beans33 · 20/05/2010 17:07

Vaggie - I can't get used to your new name at all! You will be Vaggie to me for some time to come!

Rubes - as long as you're being sensible, then well done you. I have been troughing happily for the last few weeks and have actually lost 3lbs, which is v odd. So haven't put on as much as I usually do. But sure with 5 weeks to go, I can manage a whole stone, to match last time's effort!

Kiwi - so jealous of the vino!

Just been to Battersea Park - was really lovely. Doggies every where for DD to "wifff" at. Feeling v happy now!

Rubena · 20/05/2010 17:24

Beans, I meant i'll be on target for not going over what I gained last time. It doesn't deserve a 'well done' as last time I gained the very very top end of the recommended for my height / weight etc. I don't think i'll be able to stick to it though unless I can stick to me soups for dinners.
vaggie I didn't realize that was you - I can't get used to it either.
oh and no worries on the protein love - I have some slip up days but don't you remember you used to lecture me about not doing Atkins style eating and said I should eat more carbs that's how I usually am.
Well back from the midwife. Heshe was more pleasant than usual, well until I got up on the bench and she saw my scar and it all came back to her. before that she was on about the pain thing probably being position of the baby but "don't worry she will turn so don't get yourself stressed about that" then see's my scar and it's all "oh so another section then this time? Well you won't care what the position is" and really changed the attitude. No to be fair she was rather pleasant. She said the baby is definitely transverse and there can be pains with that that are unusual if she is laying on a nerve or has bruised me with a knee or foot. She wants me to call the day assessment though since it has been bad enough to take pain killers
Hello Kiwi, don't be put off trying for number 2 - truly - the next will probably be as easy as you like, and the lack of cheerful lunches () only lasts 9 months

Avocadoes · 20/05/2010 17:47

Kiwi - so funny you had your second date at The Gate. So did we! Well that's if you count drunken sniffing at a wedding as a first date. Anyway, our second drunken snog was after a lovely evening at The Gate. I agree though that's it's not quite Terra a Terre standards.

Ladies do you thinks it's ok to wear bright scarlet red to a wedding? I'm mulling over what to wear to the Swedish ceremony next weeked. I have a very flattering bright red dress and jacket but I usually wear very muted colours to weddings so I am not sure. Alternatively I tried a very cool bright blue dress on in Reiss but it was £££££ and it was shorter than I am confident is appropriate in ones thirties.

Avocadoes · 20/05/2010 17:54

Oh my Gosh. My iPhone turned "drunken snogging" into "drunken sniffing"! That makes DH and I sound like we were intoxicated dogs on heat. Or Amy Winehouse and partner on a night out... We snogged not sniffed.

JamInMyWellies · 20/05/2010 18:09

Bright red absoloutely fine.

Veggie sadly buff is not what I would call myself the area between mid thigh and neck is somewhat spongy.

Beans Rubes eat whatever you like. The weight will come off afterwards, TBH the amount of running around you will do when there is 2 of them means it will disappear pretty quickly.

Katie totally forgot to whoop about the cottage thing.

Well I have been the meanest but quite possibly the most ingenious of mean mummy's ever this evening. I made the boys some tea lamb & mint pie with new potatoes and peas, hello yummy! Well anyway after DS1 first look of yeach disgusting [sigh] then subsequently DS2 refusal to eat it also. [double sigh] I was baggin up to freeze some carrot and coriander soup I had made and I thought hmmmm maybe if I put some of this in a beaker and they cant see what it looks like they might just eat/drink it. Well low and behold they have both troughed there way through a beaker each.

Rubena · 20/05/2010 18:40

Yum jam - I've been getting Sainsbury's carrot and Coriander soup as it's SO YUM, but really should make it - do you have a good recipe I could have?

That lamb and mint pie sounds delightful...

Rubena · 20/05/2010 18:43

Avo I really thought you meant you just sniffed each other - meaning you didn't really 'get together' as such!!

Bodemvanstaal · 20/05/2010 19:52

I'm quite liking my new name but miss being called vaggie so if I get a third hand up that doesn't like the new handle I will revert back.

So tired but happy after Yoga we are getting a grip on the really tricky poses now. I only have about 3 weeks left of the course then we are unleashed on the normal group. I'm def starting to feel stronger, wish I looked like my yoga teacher though.

Bodemvanstaal · 20/05/2010 19:55

Oh and Avo I'm settling DS2 to sleep and I made him jump when I snorted so loud about your 'sniffing'. I had images of you and DH dressed up all nice sniffing each others bodems like dogs.

Rubena · 20/05/2010 20:32

awww ds is such a good boy. Put him in bed at 7 and he came running out before I even got downstairs so put him back and said 'no' and that time locked the door. heard him try it once, then press his laughing clown then he must have just got back into bed as I never heard him cry and I just checked on him and he was properly in bed so only had to tuck his feet under the duvet. his head was on the pillow and everything! So cute.

Vaggie I'm voting twice..... at your snorting!!

JamInMyWellies · 20/05/2010 21:04

Thats so sweet Rubes.

Vaggie am voting for a stay for Vag too.

God need to a have a wee rant.

DS1 is 3 in a couple of weeks. We are having a small family celebration Bank Holiday weekend with a few friends not a big thing as I dont believe in the huge parties for little children he will get enough of that when he starts school.

Anyway FIL phones tonight to say he has spoken to DS1's Gt Grandfather a very sprighlty happy to drive everywhere 80yr old etc to invite him next wkend and his answer was well I have to come back down there (he lives a 40 min drive away)at the end of June for our wedding celebration party which by the way we are only having to please all the family after we eloped. He doesnt think he will be able to come.

Am so pissed off. Our family is fairly small, but to me its really important that we all spend time together as a family so that the boys get to know their grandparents, great grandparents, auntie, uncles etc. And he cant be bothered to drive 40 mins away from his home with the option of staying with FIL & MIL so that he doesnt have to go there and back in a day. I know it doesnt seem like much but it just brings up all the crap from DS2's bday back in Dec where he didnt get given gifts because its a week before Christmas and we must have eveything anyway as we already have DS1.

Aaaarrrrgggghhh fucking families.

Sorry all, as you were.

WomanwiththeYellowHat · 20/05/2010 21:27

Hello all.

I disappeared in the ash cloud and have only just returned with some erratic lurking but am finally alone and ready to type!

You might remember (but I would completely understand if you didn't ) that we were heading backwards and forwards to Ireland after my FIL's terminal cancer diagnosis. He sadly died 2 1/2 weeks after going into hospital, with 4 of the 5 children at his bedside so a best case scenario out of a fairly horrific situation.

Anyway, it has been a tough enough month for us all. The girls stayed with my parents in Liverpool for the funeral so I could head to Dublin to be with DH on our own. We had 4 days on our own with his family which we were so grateful for, as I am just not sure what we would have done if the girls had been with us.

In a slightly comedy aside, I managed to fall over once in Liverpool airport, bruising both my knees quite badly, and then again in Dublin airport, spraining my left ankle, and then later again (due to legs being completely knackered) spraining the other ankle. I looked ridiculous with my two black knees and two tennis ball ankles! Got strapped up by the pharmacist in Dublin airport (which we have used more times than I think is normal!) and was worried about having to wear flip flops to the Removal which was that evening, but actually managed to wear normal shoes. This is the kind of thing that is typical but which I thought I might have grown out of by now!

Anyway, sorry to ramble on but just wanted to explain my absence. We have also had DD1's 3rd birthday (and that of most of her little friends - party central here, we often dine with Snow White and Tinkerbell as the girls love their dressing up outfits so much.....)

Promise not to be quite so erratic again...

Oh, and we may be about to have The Pox....Brilliant.

JamInMyWellies · 20/05/2010 22:45

Oh Dora what a terrible time you have had. Thoughts are with you and yours.

EffiePerine · 21/05/2010 06:45

Dora: I'm so sorry about your FIL. Big squooshy non-MN hugs coming your way.

daisydora · 21/05/2010 07:42

dora I'm so sorry for your loss. I know from losing mu MIL recently that its s tough time. Thoughts and prayers to all your family.

jam you have my sympathies. Families are nightmares! Your DS1 will have a wonderful birthday and who knows your Grandad may well change his mind. Old people like to be diificult sometimes, they have to have something to moan about ime. I remember my Grandad moaning about not coming to DS's thanksgiving, he turned up in the end. Probably thought he was missingout.

Right ladies, have bought this dress for my friends wedding...I am seriously going to have to lose a stone few pounds if itwill fit me well! Why did I buy it thinking I would get myself to fit it. Still weddingnot till July

Beans33 · 21/05/2010 08:01

Wow, Daisy - that's gorgeous! Love it. V jealous. I would love something like that, but don't think I'll fit it for months now!

Jam - poor you. I do have such sympathy. But if he does decide not to come, then don't let it ruin your day and enjoy it anyway. I second what Daisy says.

Dora - poor you - are you bearing up ok? It's good to see you back again - and how are your legs now?

I've got DD in a gorgeous summer dress today - I've been so excited about summer weather, just for this very dress! Hurray!

Bodemvanstaal · 21/05/2010 09:00

Dora gosh you've been through the mill. That happened so fast. How is your DH? Obviously there are no positive deaths but there is such thing a nice way to go and it sounds like you FIL although taken early was blessed to be surrounded by most of his family. I can't help feeling a bit sad for the one child who wasn't there. How are your knees now? I fell off a stool at a bar once & and two very fetching bruises on my swollen knees. Not good for summer.

Jam that's a shame about your GGP but either he geniunely is finding gatherings with more than a few people tiring or he wants some attention. Either way just say ok see you at the reception, and see what he does. He may just turn up.

Daisy I love that dress but better still I've discovered from you link that Karen Millen may be over here. I've got a wedding at the end of June and was just thinking lastnight I wish they had KM here.

Vaggiemummy · 21/05/2010 09:05

I probably should do this should I. If I go out to the wider MN I might offend.

Rubena · 21/05/2010 09:12

Love it Vag - glad you're back. I'm willing to use my Pubes name if anyone wants me to

Love the dress Daisy. I have a wedding not till next Feb but I'm thinking if I buy a new dress it will be a good motivation to drop the baby weight (well I'll have 6 months!) Plus then I have another wedding in May and I'll need a new dress as the one I was going to wear in Feb that I already own will have some of the same people at the May one

Sorry to hear all that Dora, but glad you are back.

Jam - I seconds what Beans said.

Beans, I know, I just put ds in shorts but his sandals are still too big! Anyone know where I can get some really nice boys sandals? I'm sick of all the mainstream stuff

daisydora · 21/05/2010 09:33

vaggie much prefer it!

BTW I actually bought the dress on Ebay - bought not worn/tags etc...anyhow I only paid £60 for it with P&P. A result I think and I have Pubes to thank who has turned me into something of an ebay addict.

I have since sold several items after the shoes, and have made over £120. Dress covered time for some shoes
