DH round a mates house!!!
Its crap anyway so not bothered really.
Wiki is very unreliable. My sis got marked down on one of her degree essays because she quoted wiki.

I know of someone who was marked down for quoting wiki as well. But seriously it's well known that it's an unreliable source of information and that there is info on there isn't even correct. I do use it for day to day stuff, but check into it further if I need the info for another, more professional purpose. Plimsolls would be something I'd wiki. However that has now proved disappointing.

Flisspaps I don't understand. Please explain

coconutfeet · 20/06/2010 12:23

CSWS - I love stanausauruswrecks! Wish I'd thought of it.

Well I've had a lovely weekend with ds - we've just been hanging around locally and having a really nice time together. It's dp's birthday today and we're waiting for him to come back from his stag do so we can give him his presents. I'm cooking him a meal from my Wahaca (Mexican) cookbook tonight.

I can't believe it's midsummer's day tomorrow and bloody freezing! I even contemplated putting the heating on this morning.

That sounds like the best way to study Pistachio - enjoy!

CantSleepWontSleep · 20/06/2010 20:54

star you are so sweetly innocent . Switch around the F and the first p. And bear in mind that Fliss is a nn for Felicity, so Fliss Paps could genuinely be a real name (though clearly isn't in this case!).

Piss Flaps!!!!

StarExpat · 21/06/2010 19:50

So at work today and tomorrow just random meetings and classroom clean up ...etc. and I read that out loud in front of another (older but cool) teacher... "piss flaps???" She was and I was then we were both hand over mouth ROFL

I have never in my life heard that before. I've had it rolling around in my mind all day. pissflaps pissflaps pissflaps. Trying to shake it out!

pissflaps hehehehe, star you are funny

We off to newquay in 2 weeks...hoorah, going to a hoseasons holiday for a week but will be lovely to get away.

Dining table and chairs arrived today, we have been doing loads of work in the house, knocked a wall out and made a small inner hall and bigger front room, moved lounge into front, put new wood floor down in dining room and converted cellar lots and lots of mess and its been driving me insane!!!!! I put the furniture together today so I have blisters on my fingers now!

hope you all well.

StarExpat · 22/06/2010 05:44

myjob you may want to pick up another 2 pack of those t shirts/shorts because IME kids lose their PE kit stuff very, very (too) often. I have no idea where it goes... sometimes in other kids' bags... we do a lot of searching through them and lost and found... sometimes they just simply disappear!!

It's ok, I know you didn't want to see me.

I was talking to Rachie on fb. She says hello to everyone here but has been really busy with work and report writing. She says she means to come on but puts J to bed, then does work and goes to bed as well and hasn't been able to.
I would have told you last night... but I was in bed when I was fbing her

coconutfeet · 22/06/2010 06:53

I agree with Star about losing PE kits. Yesterday we had a boy who couldn't find his clothes after swimming. Everyone else was dressed and he was still standing there dripping in his trunks and hat because he couldn't find his bag. Fortunately his stuff eventually turned up. But I'd been visualising him being scarred for life, having to walk 15 mins back to school in his swimming trunks (but never losing his PE kit again ). Another time, the all went back in each others' trousers by mistake. And these are 9 year olds! Definitely think about getting extras if you can.

Tomorrow, we find out which year group we get next year. I'm dreading getting the teeny tinies.

Jenwa - You must feel like you're living in a new house now.

Ooh, you're on holiday now aren't you Star. Maybe we should think about doing that Greenwich meet-up we talked about ages ago. Maybe in the holidays when Rachie can come too.

coconutfeet · 22/06/2010 06:55

And I forgot to say I laughed my head off at the mental image of Star sitting in the staff room slowly mouthing "pissflaps?...pissflaps" with a really confused look on her face.

StarExpat · 22/06/2010 08:13

LOL cf, it was soooo at the time!
I can laugh now.

Oh yes, we have had many ocassions where a couple of boys get mixed up and put on each other's trousers by mistake. They don't even realize it until later in the day, either... or until their mom takes off their trousers at home! Girls don't do this very much - they tend to pay more attention to which clothes are theirs... I have never had an incident in 10 years in all different teaching environments of a girl getting on the wrong clothes by accident (purposefully this has happened a few times... swapping tops...etc.).

Greenwich meet up sounds fab

I think I've found a way to get Q's visa but now flights to new york are too expensive. arghhh.

KSal · 23/06/2010 10:05

quiet round here...

i know this is way later than it should have happened but i am feeling pretty good about a samll victory... Emma has finally given up her bed time bottle and has her milk from a spouted beaker instead. I know to most of you this will sound ridiculous as she's 21 months, but we have tried before (with hours of screaming as the result) and i was starting to worry she would still be using a bottle when the next one came. This is particularly handy as it means i don't have to take the bottle and brush on holiday with us hoorah.

also in the last week or two she has started doing 2 things... saying some short sentences and sucking her thumb . am i really mean to keep stopping her sucking her thumb? for some reason it really winds me up... i'm sure if she had always done it i wouldn't care, but i want to nip it in the bud.

50ftQueenie · 23/06/2010 11:31

I still have no internet at home!

Just letting you know that is why I am not around!

pepperrabbit · 23/06/2010 16:36

KSal - what's your secret! J still has her milk in a bottle at breakfast AND a bottle at bedtime....... she simply refuses all milk at all if it's presented any other way. Did you just persevere through the screaming???? The boys were never as stubborn as madam is about these things

But pistachio, from what you just said he pretty much is weaning himself Don't feel badly - if he's not bothered about it, then it's perfect timing.

Q never had a bottle after I stopped bf (he very rarely drank ebm from a bottle anyway and not at all after 6 months) and for that I'm soooo grateful because, knowing Q, it would be very difficult to wean him off it.

How are you, csws???? Is the baby still calm and liking it inside or trying to get out?

Q is getting 2 more teeth. I think these should be the last ones for a while now. Every time he leaned forward, drool came spilling out, he had 5... yes five horrid, weird coloured nappies and he's been an angry elf whenever he doesn't get exactly what he wants ... well, that's sort of normal, but he's been screaming a bit louder and longer about it! I'm getting increasingly that these teeth will just fall out in a few years.

It's been sooooo HOT and lovely and sunny!!! Love this weather.
