OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LadyGardenia · 05/05/2010 20:22

Crisp de Crisp you are so right

CrispyTheCrisp · 05/05/2010 20:25

sorry about the Scottish accent though . As an accountant impersonations are not my strong point

DD1 still awake. Think we might have to stop her daytime nap (which she loves). Meep.

LittleNutTree · 05/05/2010 20:32

Don't worry about the accent Crispy, it can be difficult to perfect - see 'Braveheart' for one Mel Gibson's attempt!

oopsandbabycoconut · 05/05/2010 20:37

We have had bedtime troubles too - last night we brought her down as she had a late nap and couldn't sleep so tonight she asked for 'sofa, please not bed' and when greated with the answer no she reduced herself to a ball of snot and tears and tried mummy, mama, my maaammy, pap, papi, please a oma, where my gumpy, please please a cat and finally fell asleep. I think the days of the 1.45 hour nap are over so will see if I can reduce to 1hourish and see if it makes a difference.

Am having a Dizzy magnum white

pertelote · 05/05/2010 20:42

Oh goodness, how awful -- . Dizzy I join the others in sending you all my love and sympathy. What a wretchedly unfair thing.

CrispyTheCrisp · 05/05/2010 20:43

Thanks NutTree, i think it is the effort which counts eh?

oops DD2 slept for 3hrs today, although was up early which we do need to address when i have the energy. Have you escaped overprotective family now & were they narked at your FB status?

oopsandbabycoconut · 05/05/2010 20:48

Strangely enough Crispy - no one has spoken to me about it. Dh's aunt sent me a snarky e-mail about it and our pint and pub comments. I politely told her if she didn't like it then please feel free to remove me as a friend. Strangely she isn't coming to visit this weekend anymore 2 birds, one stone and all that . My mother is leaving it alone too.

How early are your earlies? We are at 6.20ish but she will go back if I catch her soon enough after waking and bring her in to us.

LadyGardenia · 05/05/2010 20:56

Nice accent McCrisp.

It is still really bright here.

CrispyTheCrisp · 05/05/2010 20:59

Wow, she sent you an email about discussing pubs/pints?? . Actually tbf that will probably be next on the official list of banned foodstuffs that you can't even talk about blue cheese, alcohol or prawns

Earlies any time from 5.45 to 6.30am and she will NOT go back to sleep as DD1 would. 6.30 this morning so not so bad and she goes to bed like a dream - can't have it all ways I s'pose mores the pity

pertelote · 05/05/2010 21:13

I thought the accent came across loud and strong Crispy

DD is an earlyish riser atm too, not before 6am yet though thank goodness. DH away at a conference this week and it is the mornings without him I am dreading as he is very good at getting up with her... though now she is not BFing he has offered to alternate bedtimes, I suspect he will expect quid pro quo [lazy emoticon] Thanks for the kind words btw LadyG. A shopping opportunity for sure, not sure whether I should expect adjustment and so wait a bit though?

I declare myself a member of the Hots and Cyteen party (and who wouldn't want to be at THAT party ) - I am mostly though looking forward to having a daft conversation with DD about mummy's democratic duty and seeing if I can get her to say suffragette before the day is out

CaptainCaveman · 05/05/2010 21:14

Hey gang, just popping in to say Hi and what not but then I read DIzzy's sad sad news . DIzzy praying for you and MRDizzy, for your quick physical recovery, and for peace and healing for your emotional recovery and your understandably broken heart . I keep typing bits out and then deleting them coz they sound crap or trite . So, this about sums up what I'm trying to say. Always here for you. Whatever and whenever.

Loti to hear your tough times are no better but pleased to hear you are taking some decisive action there. Shocked too to hear you are ill and dh willing to compromise yours and the girls' safety to satisfy himself . If you've passed out/been dizzy, are you eating ok? There's not much of you as it is!!

oopsandbabycoconut · 05/05/2010 21:15

Talking of blue cheese - I ate a lovely piece of Isle of White Blue this afternoon then realised what I had done. It was quite possibly the most delicious thing I have eaten in 8 months! Yes this woman likens herself to the Godfather of the family so she has the right to an opinion on everything we do and say.

I think we just have an 11 hour sleeper so 7-6ish but strangely if she goes down at 9 she still gets up at 6

CaptainCaveman · 05/05/2010 21:20

Help, I still don't know who to vote for!! Are the monster raving loony party still on the go?

CrispyTheCrisp · 05/05/2010 21:21

pert DH was trying to explain voting to DD1 this morning and told her we look at a piece of paper with names on and decide which one we like and put a cross by it and hand it to 'the man'. He then showed her the election card showing how you should mark the card.

I casually suggested that it was a ballot paper, we should choose the candidate who we thought would represent us in Parliament and that we would put it in a sealed box to protect against tampering and vote rigging.

DH went , and said 'i was explaining childrens politics' and DD1 said, 'but that's not a cross it's a kiss ' I gave up

oopsandbabycoconut · 05/05/2010 21:24

Apparently according to DD tomorrow we are going out with DH in the morning early to 'boat'! and we get to do drawing on a paper and give the man our picture to post I am a little at myself for even trying to explain voting to a 20mo.

pertelote · 05/05/2010 21:30

Yeah I know Oops but P is like DD isn't she, she gives a very good impression of understanding EVERYTHING . Loving Crispette's kiss comment! I'm all for explaining things, doesn't matter if only 1% goes in the first time it's better than having to contradict yourself later (sure there are hundreds of exceptions to this principle )

RedLentil · 05/05/2010 21:31

Lost for words here too, but I've been thinking of Dizzy and her lovely family all day, and thinking too about what wonderful support there is here in our little band.

Pert, the end of bf is nigh here too, but dd2 does love her 'gink' (months after the others had given up). I think she does it now just for the habit and the cuddles will be every bit as lovely for you and dd2 when they become the new routine.

DD2 is quite a proficient potty-user since the weekend, and so I bought some pants today. She wanted to know if they were swimming pants, and I said they weren't. She has now christened them 'lady pants.'

Cece, vote for the Hots-Cyteen piss-up party on my behalf. You know it makes sense. But if you're not into proxy voting, just vote because of all those wonderful suffragettes.

It feels very odd here tonight.

CrispyTheCrisp · 05/05/2010 21:31

cece apologies if i have started a ruck with your friend on your status comments . Think we are ok

I'd best go make a cup of tea and keep out of trouble

oops cheese sounds delicious. I had the most amazing ripe brie the other night and i am STILL drooling over it

pertelote · 05/05/2010 21:36

I really ought to go to bed, I am bound to stay up much too late tomorrow. Ah for the days when one could stay up all night eating red blue and yellow vodka jelly...

oopsandbabycoconut · 05/05/2010 21:36

Pert - I didn't acknowledge your DD giving up BF. P gave up in Jan and I was amazed at how sad I was about the whole thing, I didn't mention it to anyone for ages incase it made it real.

Red - DD has shown an interest in the potty more today and DH accidentally bought pull ups so she wore them today and liked the whole up/down thing

pertelote · 05/05/2010 21:44

Thanks Oops, Red. Tis a small sadness -- very aware tonight that it is not a big deal. Off to bed and to peek at my grown-up girl on the way. Night all, fond hugs.

CrispyTheCrisp · 05/05/2010 21:48

red i agree it is odd and cannot process nor comprehend what she and DH are having to go through today as all our lives seemingly just 'carry on'

However, you do know that she will beat the crap out of us if we are too morose and i am a scardey cat, hence my drivel above

Perhaps we could do a 'favourite/memorable post of dizz's', a bit like the 400 nappies for LNT (sorry couldn't resist ) so she has something nice to read when she returns to the fold?

I'll start: I think it was one on HotMamas where she and MrDixie were doing the couch to 5k for a couple of days while and decided to go for a run round the park. For some reason i got a Benny Hill type chase in my mind . BTW I have never revealed this before

poppysocks · 05/05/2010 21:50

DH got DD2 up this morning and asked her if she had a dirty nappy 'no, jus' wet' was the reply. She was right and when he'd got the new nappy on she said 'see, not dirty' with accompanying super-cute palms of hands facing upwards (iykwim). Having to curb temptation to have a go at potty training as am curious basically. I know though that it just wouldn't be wise.

Hope you'll be around here tomorrow night pert (and anyone else with an interest ). I'm a bit of a politics geek and have loved the whole campaign. Nothing interesting going on in this ultra safe constituency but dying to see how it all pans out everywhere else (albeit sharing the fears of many round here ). DH, who I've converted to politics, sadly won't be around tomorrow night due to 5am start for job interview on Fri [boo]. Therefore looking for company...

MrsMiamla · 05/05/2010 21:57

crsip you're right, she'll be cross with us for being morose but it just doesn't seem fair. How can something so awful happen to such a lovely family?

re election nights...back in my mis-spent youth, a group of us tried to smoke a joint (between us) for every seat announced. Was easy to start with but erm it got tricky once it all got going! (possibly should have name changed for that one!) Wasn't me, mum, it was a friend, honest and i didn't inhale

poppysocks · 05/05/2010 21:59

Missed your post there somehow red. Hmm, if your DD2 is having a go.... maybe I will try one day next week and just see how E gets on.

Feels weird posting flippantly... Thinking of you lots dizzy.
