Welcome all those with fresh new babies. Oh the joys and tribulations. Post the lot here!

I hope I haven't overlooked a previous thread here for us. Anyway, here goes.

DS2 was due 3 July but arrived 29 June, 9lb 6oz. He has been growing nicely and is 4 weeks old today. I am breastfeeding and have already had mastitis and thrush but am pushing on with it. Biggest problem is sometimes he sleeps too long in the day and then wakes up a lot in the night, not that he stays awake for long, just long enough to feed and go back to sleep. The Midwife says that I shouldn't worry about his lack of wakefulness for the moment in the absence of any other issues, and to see how he is going around the 6 week mark. She also said I should wake him up during the day, which I have been reluctant to do, but I think I will have to do. Anyone else got an overly sleepy baby who doesn't seem to be growing out of it quickly enough?

Hi all, been busy.

PM did you see there's a thread on about what clothes SAHM's have...quite funny. Not up there with pirate sex, but good. So how often will the consultant monitor Violet's mark? Also, why not try the old MN fallback of putting them to bed in tomorrow's clothes...or having 'pramfasts'...there is a great thread about slummy mummies around at the moment.

Thanks for the pics Panda, enjoyed them. Welcome back Eulalia.

HC, still alive thru DH's withdrawals? I was bitchtrogfromhell when i gave up last year. HC and bagpuss, I'm with you on the cabin fever. I have the buggy but not the rain cover and so have been restricted to carrier jaunts on these rain filled days. Not easy as I'm very tired!

Thanks Belo and LA, my dads being quite chipper about it so far. Got to arrange a visit for a Novemeber weekend - get those stress levels back up again

H2D - have you read 'why love matters' which gives some interesting insights into brain chemistry, personality and nurture? Can't help with the drool - i do more of that than my son I reckon. Have fun at the show, woul;dn't cathc me over there - not now my income has dried up. Went to Everyman scream on Thursday. Seemed to walk into a right little nest of cliques, not one person able to stop fussing their babes or outperforming each other to say hello back to me! I was gobsmacked by the rudeness, never mind their loss, and we enjoyed the trip. Vin adored watching the big movie (don't let him see TV) and slept for half of it as well. Will go again, but only when the actual film is more interesting. It was Roman Polanksi's Oliver Twist and very, dully, faithful to the book. Didn't see the point in it. Job creation?

I am really weary due to growth spurt feeding. Its been going on for a fortnight now with two days respite. Yesterday he had 12 feeds over 24 hours: both boobs and half an hour each. Bone breaking. Hope it settles down soon. I can see him busting out of his skin everyday. Big funny gorgeous fathead

leaving for show now, so will be quick... mb: haven't read that. Sounds interesting. dw just got something on emotional intelligence I think.

Sorry Everyman was clique fest of rude N. Londoners. Let's go together one week so we can form our own clique, OK ? Not looking forward to the mammoth grwoth-spurt feeding... as I am rather liking this 'let's sleep a lot at night' thingy dd is doing for us. She's being fab.

Never have I seen so many pregnant women and babies as at The Baby Show. Blimey. Not a lot especially exciting / individual / arty, but some nice bits....

It was to be the flower buggy snuggle in the end. They had a new one in grey with rasied bobbles all over it which also looked interesting. We bought a hat to make Camille hate us when she's older: (this strawberry one) , and picked up our 'Camile' name print from KatiePie Designs which had been painted for us.

Had a look at a 'nomad' travel cot on the Mountain Buggy stand (seems light and is apparently well reviewed) and looked at their new highchair (seems OK, not particularly amazing, though can be stacked so perhpas useful for some). A Braun ear thermometer thingy was 10 quid off, and there was a great deal from the importer of the BabySense which is a respiration monitor we use.

All in all a fun day but a bit of a . Oh, and the toilets were apparently three floors up which must have pleased all the pg laydees no end.

merryberry · 23/10/2005 15:13

blimey i'd have gone up to the third floor and protest weed on the organisers heads!

merryberry · 23/10/2005 21:21

hoxtonchick · 24/10/2005 09:09

merryberry · 24/10/2005 10:55

Nice day HC - my goal is simply to cope iwth mother and baby matching colds and upset stomachs. Grr. Thank {insert deity here} for online communities - can't have anyone over into germ central here and most people are at work. I would go sparko with no outside life otherwise!

Shall we start a new thread soon? This one is long. What's the etiquette? Can I do it or is it someone's job? And anyone got any suggestions for a thread title?

xx

hoxtonchick · 24/10/2005 11:19
