sentimental even!! I really need to get a straight few hours sleep tonight!

SirBoobAlot · 30/04/2010 15:48

Awh Fruit you sappy thing But I totally agree with you - its lovely You lot are just amazing, really.

Pavlov · 30/04/2010 16:15

hobnob oh don't apologise you deserve it after the horrible nights you have had! well done Isla!

Fruit so sentimental and so very true. It has not been said recently so well done for reminding us what stares us in the face, we should not be complacent, we are very lucky.

laugs I think I gave DD eggs around that time too, possibly 8 months! I did it on the back of my SIL who has 3 children (she is chinese, has 2 fully chinese children and a half chinese half american boy with my BIL). She weaned her first two on eggs from the start (she also trained them to poo by holding them over the toilet/a bin ) and they are both very very strong girls immune system wise, no allergies, not susceptible to colds easily etc (also very clever, not sure we can give the eggs credit there though!) and it was such as fab first solid food, as DD could hold it herself, she would not choke on it and it was more 'solid' than other foods which just melted. But DS seems a bit more vulnerable (has a little bit of excma, this wheezing thing, which incidently has almost disappeared atm!).

R is growing. He obviously wanted milk last night to get ready for it. He did as DD did, he fed, fed, fed, fed, then he slept for 3 hours straight after his nice hearty lunch of one whole ice cube of carrot mixed with milk, the whole time twitching his little hands and feet . Maybe, just maybe he will sleep and let DH and I go to Restuarant Isabella as I wont be in bed by 8pm tonight.

Fruit

I am back at work (well from tomorrow officially but guess what? I am a total workaholic and my boss sent me some work today to 'start next week' and I did 2 hours work today during naps). I feel so great! I now realise that I just need to work! I feel so much better for 'being back'.

I wish we could all meet up some day. That would be lovely. We have been through a lot together. Our little babies are coming up to / just about six months old now. How weird is that?

misssese · 30/04/2010 18:20

Hi everyone!
Sorry I haven't been on very much of late! I am finding it hard to keep up and have been trying to get back to my hobbies of knitting and cross stitch.
Hope your all well!!

fruit I love the sentimentality! I really enjoyed the london meet up and it would be fab to have a whole group meet up!! Do you think we would ever be able to arrange something like that? Would love another london meet as well!

I would like to say a big thank you to you all! You have all been extremely informative and supportive with any questions or concerns I have had ( and there has been a fair few). Its just been so great to be able to log on here and get informed advice. It has also been very good for my confidence, as unfortunately I am a self doubter. So being able to double check and get reassurance that my instincts are correct has been just what i need.

BBL Glad you are enjoying working, its so nice to be able to do something (anything) none baby related its funny how revitalising it can be! I am going to pilates tomorrow morning for some me time!

skorpion · 30/04/2010 19:07

Fruit that's nicely put! Here's hoping for that sleep.

It would be fantastic to organise a Nov 09 meet up. Do you think we'll get a chance before the kids leave home? Hope so!

Pavlov we're doing it tonight! Well, the restaurant thing, not 'it' Sainsbury's have got a meal for a tenner deal so we got some fugasse bread, veg moussaka, bottle of rose and 12 profiteroles. Although, having bought the lot on Wednesday, the profiteroles are all but a distant memory now... so I have two poached pears in the fridge awaiting a scoop of vanilla ice cream and hot chocolate sauce. Enjoy your evening!

SirBoob hope you're well.

skorpion · 30/04/2010 19:09

Becky that's good news - I hope you have found your solution.

hobnob57 · 30/04/2010 22:27

we had great fun with half a banana at tea time tonight . Filmed it for DH's sake too. I'm considering buying one of those table mats with a catcher tray on one side since most if it seemed to land on her lap!

scarlotti · 30/04/2010 22:31

Another meet up would be brilliant!

BBL good news on the working, that was what sorted me out when I had pnd after ds1. I start back next Weds and am looking forward to it.

Been out for a few drinks and a curry with friends tonight. Off to feed and bed now

SirBoobAlot · 30/04/2010 22:59

Was thinking just the other day about a full group meet up; maybe it would be worth aiming for November time, to give us all time to organise, and also will be around all the LOs 1st birthdays (though obviously not suggesting we do it on any of their birthdays!).

Becky so pleased to hear that

DP is hungover and ill so is here this weekend. Glad he is, really. Bryn has been very odd the past two days!

Off to bath and bed now... Hope you're all okay.

Pavlov · 01/05/2010 06:47

skorpion i hope you had a great time at your 'restaurant' We did the meal for a tenner too, but the m&s one. I did not know they had one at sainsburys, i would have gone there as we needed some other stuff so DH had to go there seperately we had cajun chicken, rosemary potatoes, a bottle of red and a trifle (i lurve trifle). But, guess what? Did not eat the trifle! Also did not do 'restaurant Isabella' as the kitchen (have a kitchen diner) was too messy so we did cafe Reubenio which was sitting at the coffee table candles and all. Not quite the same but nice enough.

R slept from 7:45pm - midnight, then 12:30am - 5am, then awake from 6:15am for the morning. Great for me! But DH is still moaning as both the children are getting up at this time. I have let him go back to sleep but said it would be nice soon if we could both get up together sometimes rather than what has become a habit of one gets up one stays in bed. I miss us getting up and all having breakfast together. We just don't do it any more.

But i don't really get the sleep thing. It is just all so random atm, not sure what to do, what to expect, as R sleeps so differently every night right now.

He is babbling now though. He says dadadada and other wordy sounds, it is so lovely. And he spends most of his time laughing at his big sister, has a wonderful grin. His personality is starting to show through and he is quite a cheeky character, i am loving it!

ursigurke · 01/05/2010 07:44

I wish we could go to the "restaurant" here too. . Glad to hear that cafe Reubenio was nice, and hoping your evening was nice, too skorpion.
After two wonderful nights at the beginning of the week, where Paula did not wake up at her usual 35 min (once she actually did but self settled easily) and woke up only 2 or 3 times each night. We are back to normal. Not even putting her on her tummy is helping anymore. I think I'd rather not have those good nights at all as each time now I think we have just turned a corner and that it will be always like this and it is even more frustrating when we go back to normal.
Sorry for the mememe post! And even at the beginning of a bank holiday weekend.
I hope, we can all enjoy it.

Pavlov · 01/05/2010 07:47

ursi sorry you had such a rough night. I hate it when we have a night of good too, only to be followed by a night of bad. It is like being teased as then we know they can sleep well if the wind is blowing in the right direction.

Pavlov · 01/05/2010 07:49

R has some redness under his chin where it rubs on his chest. Any recommendations on what to use to ease it?

Also, I have done a thread about it, but R has a red bottom. Is this carrot do you think?

scarlotti · 01/05/2010 07:55

Morning

Another good night here with my blackout paper! Morning feed is now around 5am with a 6:30 start, which I can cope with.

Running a childrens talent show today at church, hopefully it will go ok!!

Lots of babbling going on here too and lots of eating! He can't put enough away!

Meet up would be good. Maybe summer time would work as then we could do an outdoor place so save on cost. Or the camping suggestion from Pav?

OP posts:
Pavlov · 01/05/2010 08:00

I know a good camping spot in Devon where you can hire out tents all ready to go, all you need is a sleeping bag/travel cot and other baby stuff, clothes and some food. Maybe we could see if there is something like this a bit more neutral?

ursigurke · 01/05/2010 08:17

Oh, and no one told me that having a child was so painful. I thought pain would only be at birth. Paula is constantly scratching, biting, sucking me. I guess it is all just because she loves me that much. My DH asked me yesterday if I was having an affair (he was only joking, don't worry) as I have so many love bites everywhere

SirBoobAlot · 01/05/2010 08:39

Ohhh Pav loving that idea!!

ursigurke · 01/05/2010 10:05

just saw, that my DH is "having an affair" too.

Trikken · 01/05/2010 11:35

Ursi chidren are painful, ds keeps giving me bruises from jumping on my ribs whilst im sleeping when he come to wake me in the mornings. and he accidentally threw his sisters toy caterpillar at my head yesterday. had a headache all day and whilst working.

Pavlov · 01/05/2010 12:49

I have a chipped tooth from when DD once smacked my crystal pendant into my face. Ouch also had my nose cracked a few times by a bigger baby having tickles/legs kicking in the face .

DD also used to enjoy a good bite if she did not get food quick enough. Sometimes it bruised quite horribly and looked like DH had been grabbing my arms

Pavlov · 01/05/2010 12:59

what cot mattress have you all got? where from how much? I am going to buy one today and I am dithering.

BeckyBendyLegs · 01/05/2010 13:56

Boo!

Trikken · 01/05/2010 14:18

my cot mattress is ok, not fantastic but was one from tescos, wasnt overly expensive though so cant really complain.

SirBoobAlot · 01/05/2010 16:28

Mines from mothercare and its lovely Trikken - but DPs mum bought it so no idea how much it was
