Good enough for ya dog .

And sorry I do realise some are only turning 14 mths and some are nearly 16mths etc,etc......apologies!

All officially toddlers now though i think (well 120's H and HKZ's J are pulling up/taking steps now I think, think mostly everyone walking of some sort!) Scary thought!

Am with you Tree. DD fell asleep at 5 and didn't wake up until 6.30. She then ate her tea and is now rearing to go and seemingly turbo powered.

We had yesterday's leftovers tonight, which by coincidence was also lasagne.

Not sure anyone other than close family would recognise many of dd's little phrases as yet. Mum heard her say 'want in there' or 'wan in der' as she puts it, while she was stood at the gate having a total freak out about me helping the boys with their homework this afternoon.

Best one we have had so far has got to be when dh said sit when he dropped the nappy he had just taken off her and she replied in a very pleased tone with a big grin on her face sh*, whilst simultaneously clapping her hands! but It was even funnier watching him following her around trying to fix it by saying "yes dd, that's right sheep, sheep!" Funny thing is, dh almost never swears and the one time he did, she copied him. Whereas I swear like a navy (sp?) half the time and she never copies me.

evening and good night post here!

no, you haven't dog. I've been invited to talk to the audit supervisory panel about my experiences at a particular hospital. defo not preggers.

I saw a lovely cauliflower recipe on here tonight where you stuff peppers with cauliflower cheese. very yum.

glad you've got all that help dog!

Lenni · 28/04/2010 10:19

Well I've got as far as 22nd April, I wanted to see Tree reappear, but then you all started talking madly and I just can't catch up. Will try again in a bit.

I have a Tripp Trapp (someone asked ages back ) in fact I have two. I had a bit of a hormonal tantrum about the second one DS is out of the highchair bit now though, just uses the chair.

Dog - we are still coming to Cornwall after much debate about cancelling it after extra week abroad. Will be there the third week in May.

Moose/120 - I have the sibling book. Must read it properly again, ages since I read it.

Sleep - DS is getting pretty good at 10/11 hours, usually waking around 6am sometimes earlier but not so good at going to bed lately. Need to stop him having an afternoon nap and just stick to mornings as the days he sneaks in an hour around 3pm (usually on way to take DD somewhere) he refuses to go to bed. And of course we are still recovering our routine which was destroyed by the holiday.

Best go, 15 092 words of my thesis now done and only about 1000 left. Yay! Hand in day tomorrow hopefully, am so so excited!

120 · 28/04/2010 10:34

good luck with getting it done Lenni!

off to talk to those midwives about my birth experience shortly..

moosemama · 28/04/2010 10:50

Morning

Have snuck on here while I am waiting to intercept the Tesco delivery man so that he doesn't ring the bell and wake dd. I have about a million other things I should be doing though.

Pleased to hear you have lots of friends and family to help you Dog. Moving house is always more work than you think its going to be isn't it.

Good luck with getting your thesis done and handed in Lenni.

Hope your feedback session goes well, 120.

Hope all is nice and calm on the work front Tree.

Listen to me, with all the good lucks and hope all goes well stuff. That reminds me - I used to have a life as well - now where did I put it? It must be round here somewhere.

This morning's news from the Moose household is ... ... we actually managed a whole morning and school run without ds1 having a meltdown today. I'm still in shock!

moosemama · 28/04/2010 12:15

Just tried dd on some Hipp Organic - her face was an absolute picture. It came straight back out, accompanied by a huge shudder a look like she thought I was trying to poison her!

Ah well. Twas just a thought. She absolutely will not drink cows milk, so I thought I'd try her on formula as it would be sweeter.

Never had a child that wouldn't drink milk before. The boys would drink gallons of the stuff if I'd let them.

She is still having a bf morning and night and drinks plenty of water or very dilute apple or pear juice, so I'm not worried about dehydration, but more concerned that she isn't getting enough, iron and calcium.

Dairy wise she has porridge made with milk in the morning and then I add more milk to cool it (she eats a bigger bowl of porridge than her brothers!) and she has a cheese meal most days, but she has alpro soya yoghurts, as normal yoghurts always give her really nasty nappies.

What do you reckon ladies? Is she getting enough or do I need to keep trying to get her to drink milk?

I really want to stop breastfeeding at the end of May, but am worried that if she won't drink milk she'll end up deficient in something if she's not getting breastmilk at least a couple of times a day. Its a quandry, especially with us all being veggies as well. (I had high hopes for the Hipp, as both the boys loved it and its got added iron and omegas.)

Lenni · 28/04/2010 12:42

Moose (I am not here btw, don't tell anyone, am working ) my DD was never keen on milk. It turned out she had a slight dairy intolerance. She didn't drink any milk at all after 18mo until just recently and now she drinks plenty. I think 2 bfs is enough without anything else, don't guidelines say about a half a litre is enough, can't remember, and there is equivalent of a third of a litre in one small yoghurt.

I got myself in a major panic over calcium as I am veggie too so my two usually get 3 veggie meals in a week. I took DD to my GP who took me very seriously and checked DD out, turned out she was absolutely not calcium deficint even with drinking no milk at all for 6 months at that point. Actually the GP said DD had excellent blood results probably because she wasn't getting calories from milk and was eating a really good range of foods. Shame that a year later her diet is so much more limited, damn her for getting a will of her own.

DS on the other hand still glugs milk all day long and tbh is looking a little on the chubby side. I need to get him to drink less! Whatever you get you worry don't you, I'm beginning to realise being a Mum is just one long extended worry.

moosemama · 28/04/2010 13:11

Hi Lenni. I won't tell if you won't.

Thanks thats really reassuring.

I was wondering if she might be slightly dairy intolerant because of the nasty nappies following yoghurts. She probably knows better than I do that she shouldn't drink the stuff.

Both my sisters are lactose intolerant, but both developed it in their twenties and were fine as children.

She does have a really good quality, varied diet (eg is currently scoffing a moroccan couscous sandwich on wholemeal bread accompanied by black and green seedless grapes) including chickpeas, lentils, beans, lots and lots and lots of fruit and veg, wholemeal or linseed bread and wholegrain pasta. In fact she'll pretty much have anything you give her at the moment - except milk. Am well aware she has plenty of time to change tack on this though.

It was at this age that ds1 started restricting his diet to gluten rich food and wanted to eat nothing but pasta, lasagne, toast and porridge. If I'd known then what I know now, I'd've been onto his gluten problem years ago.

Lenni · 28/04/2010 14:00

My nephew has phases of proper lactose intolerance (vomiting with it etc.) and then he is fine again for a while. They seem to change at this age when they stop (in theory) needing milk, it's like their digestive systems just morph or something. With DD we were told because she was so little and hadn't had a major issue with dairy as a baby (although had reflux, never did proper poo etc.) to keep up with processed milk like cheese so that her system remained used to digesting it. Funny you say about DS1 going mad on gluten at this age, DD has suddenly started going mad on dairy, perhaps I should rein her in a little.

moosemama · 28/04/2010 14:37

I am slightly concerned about the possiblity of lactose intolerance really, as it can be secondary to coeliacs and in some cases the only obvious symptom.

Apparently the damage to the gut caused by the gluten stops the body from being able to process the lactose properly. After several months to a year gluten free, the gut heals and can digest the lactose again with no problems.

Ds1 always becomes temporarily lactose intolerant after a tummy bug or vomiting virus.

If ds1 tests positive, dd will have to be tested for coeliacs anyway, so I suppose there's no point in worrying really.

tinkhasaspringinherstep · 28/04/2010 17:01

i am sure that dd getting enough - mm

i can believe how well bracken eats and dd1 has always been fussy and hardly eats anything!!!

dd2 will eat eveything

meant creame eggs
breme eggs sound horrid!!!

120 · 28/04/2010 18:02

I'm with tink, am sure she is fine.

DD never took milk when she self weaned at 15mo and since then will only have it in porridge/cereal or more recently the smoothies (blended milk and banana) that I have been making them in an effort to interest H in milk. They both eat shed loads of cheese though. There was a thread on this and the conclusion was they are all fine and the milk myth was started by the milk marketing board in the 70's who had a milk lake to disperse!

chefswife · 28/04/2010 18:10

Moose Yeah for great morning. I wouldn't worry about the milk thing. DD is the same so I changed her to goat's milk, which is higher in fat and calcium, both they need lots of at this age. She eats yoghurt and cheese fine. Just doesn't want cow's milk. There is a lot of calcium in broccoli and DD loves that veg. Cow's milk tends to have growth hormones and antibiotics in it and there is some study's being done now that are showing it does make a difference in our bodies. Its just milk though. Speaking of milk... DD's signing and crying for BM right now. lol

chefswife · 28/04/2010 18:52

Ok... back to it. Moose and nasty nappies after yoghurt is good, means all the good bacteria is working out stuff that can sit in the intestine.

Lenni The best thing for a little one that loves milk, (I believe they gravitate towards foods they instinctually feel they need) is to make sure they also have a high Vit C levels too. Vit C helps your body produce carnitine, a compound that helps the body turn fat into energy.

DD has been clingy and whiney all morning. She has been sleeping fab lately at naps and night but last night, I was up 4 times with her. Hopefully she has a good nap; it took awhile getting her down.

I've eaten so many cinnamon buns, giant amounts of meat and had more than my 2 drink minimum, 3 days in a row. OK... back to gym with me! lol DH, DD and I went for dinner to Smokin' Bones Cook Shack, and the sandwich I ordered was a massive steak sandwich, dripping i sauce, and I ate the whole thing. DH was shocked. lol

treedelivery · 28/04/2010 21:14

So tired I could cry. And have headache. Where is my stamina!?

Moose = on milk. I'd feel very reassured tbh. I think she gets a varied diet with loads of oppurtunity to get non-dairy calcium.

Lucy Burney says that it's only in the west we worry about calcium form dairy, loads of countries have much less dairy and get plenty of calcium

Oh so tired. DD1 so tired she kept busrtng nto tears. SHe also needs a poo, it will be 3 days tonight No tme though. She's lke this when she's been looked after by others, the nanas. They don't always respond to her mood and keep her calm and steady, then she gets wound up and overs timulated.

Lttle whatsit was awake till 9, and as she normally sleeps at 7 she is really gong to feel pants tomorrow.

treedelivery · 28/04/2010 21:15

Apologes for typos and the fact that the 'i' has about given up.

Lenni, I don't know how you have done it. Well done!!!

treedelivery · 28/04/2010 21:36

Arrrgh! H is up. Might have to park her on my chest while I mn and eat cheese toastie...

teaandcakeplease · 28/04/2010 22:12

Oh tree sending you ((hugs))

Hope your LO settles again soon and you can get to bed for a well earned rest.

Lovely day today, went to a pottery place and painted a frog with my DD whilst DS played with some toys they had available for LO's. This afternoon after naps we went to the park. Ahhhh bliss.

moosemama · 28/04/2010 22:20

Tree ((hugs)) make sure you rest and have some you time tomorrow. Sending lots of sleep dust your way in hopes of a quiet restful night.

Dd has only just fallen asleep after a looong fight. She is now in her swing as I was terrified she'd wake up if I put her in her cot.

I have had a stinking hormonal head all day and my bloomin period started this evening. Grr!

I also have a humdinging row with ds1 about lying - again this afternoon, little so and so just refuses to learn this particular lesson and ended up without his nintendo time as a result, which apparently made me 'a horrible, spiteful Mommy' who had 'ruined his entire life'! but also a bit

Tea, sounds like you had a lovely day, long may it continue.

treedelivery · 28/04/2010 23:16

Thanks for the hugs, warmly recieved. Hope your head gets better too Moose. Headaches a plentl, perhaps the muggy heat?

Spent a lot of today in theatre, turns out mu theatre clogs are Not Comfy. Darn it. Have sore little toe.

Dh has taken the H-bomb downstairs because true to form this was her reaction to us trin to settle her in her cot.

I do hope it isn't awful to use the H-bomb thing. It probably is. I shouldn'y, it isn't respectful really.

Anyhooo, I can hear her downstairs giggling her head off [hmmm]

Havng lusty fantasy shops at frugi, and dd1's new top came today in super quick time. Dd2 has one and dd1 is mad about dinos aat the mo, especially 'my good friend steggi'
