This was the only thing I could remember some saying should be the next title!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Ahhh Saniflo's. My advice to clients is always - locate your WCs in a room adjoining an outside wall. Otherwise you will need a big sign up in your toilet saying "No.1s only, no loo roll, and certainly nothing else.Thanks. Smiley Face"

LadyThompson · 04/03/2010 23:06

Yes, Turnip, you missed Kiwi, she joined us after you had been absorbed back into Real Life

I am going back to the Fatty Thread. I still have another two or three weeks where it doesn't matter if I don't put weight on. I have just bought a stepper. It came with no instructions and I put one foot on yesterday, plummeted to the floor and fell straight off I haven't had the cojones to get back on it yet.

Keep up with the horror stories about Saniflo - I know I have one in London but I need to keep reminding myself how gross they are to take my mind off the industrial pipes and jagged holes in my poor knackered cottage.

Night all

Beans33 · 05/03/2010 09:11

Do you know, I didn't even know there was such a thing as saniflos!! I have led a sheltered life indeed!!!

Rubena · 05/03/2010 09:31

I'd never heard of Sanifloo's but I heard the term macerator but only when I first moved to the UK and we were doing up our flat, however it wasn't needed so not sure why we were talking about them. I think it was the day the dh and db were taking off the old toilet and putting in the new and I was so scared of getting covered in shi* just watching, but it was quite clean in the end i think the boys had dealt with a macerator once before doing a reno of some sort - not sure.
A stepper Lady? Do you mean one of those ones that you can carry around etc or a massive one? Thought you had a rowing machine?
Well I'm off to work today so better get organised and get dssorted for a nap.

poisondwarf · 05/03/2010 09:36

Urrgh Saniflos. I remember me & my flatmates having to spend a suspicious amount of time nursing strong black coffees in the cafe below our flat when our landlord refused to pay for ours to be fixed. Nice. Had to do a moonlight flit in the end, which was quite fun.

Kiwi welcome back.

Veggie June sounds fab for Paris. Let's do it!

Gotta go, supposed to be packing.

poisondwarf · 05/03/2010 09:40

Oh and meant to say SL you are a cheeky bugger but you are not wrong.

LadyThompson · 05/03/2010 09:51

We do have a rowing machine, Rubes, a proper water rower. But I wanted something that I can spend time walking on when I am too busy to go for a long walk or the weather is bad. It's smallish - I can lift it, but you wouldn't want to make a habit of it.

Rubena · 05/03/2010 10:49

yes I know the sort Lady.

Does pregnancy make you angry? (and by 'you' I mean people in general)
Or does it just make how you really feel come to the surface?

I'm annoyed very easily these days mainly at my immediate family. My db and his dp are really pissing me off and I'm not sure if I'm being unreasonable, plus my sil with som of her comments she made over 3 weeks ago now!!
I'm liable to blurt something out which I don't know whether it would be good or bad. I know I'm being a bit vague but I'm in a really bad mood. Should be ok when I get to work

Rubena · 05/03/2010 10:50

lady I just remembered we were going to pencil in the 14th but isn't that Mothers Day?

SummerLightning · 05/03/2010 10:55

Rubes I was just on the verge at shouting at this lovely guy at work as he changed some code and didn't tell me (it was bloody annoying though) . So I think the answer is YES.
Also DH and I had a massive argument about how much mortgage we can afford. Even though we basically agree.

Rubena · 05/03/2010 10:59

hmm dh is about the only one who has not copped it yet although I am a bit pissed off that he "dropped" his £500 bike wheel, which isn't made anymore so even with the insurance after paying the excess he needs to get a pair now and of course needs a pair which are the same or better all because he was tired and clumsy (not a one off - he always breaks stuff and wastes so much money doing silly things hastily)

Rubena · 05/03/2010 11:03

sil has 'commented' in no uncertain terms about how amazing it is that someone with dh's 'occupation' can always be 'short' of money, however the two of them have had it soooo differently - um, like a government grant for University so no finishing with massive student loans, the luxury of just saying 'we're going to sell our flat and live with our inlaws and not pay bills so we can save up to travel around the world freakin back packing' and have a tenant in their house who is like Gods gift to landlords, has been there 10 years and doesn't complain about anything breaking!!! And don't ever want kids and don't seem to understan they COST MONEY. They need to get into the real world for a second and have some grown up bills before they make comments about how other people manage their money

SummerLightning · 05/03/2010 11:08

Life is just so bloody expensive these days!!!
(God that makes me sound old)

Rubena · 05/03/2010 11:10

Oh and while I'm at it, brothers plans to come over in July/aug for a wedding for the brother of his dg have changed due to fitting in with her family, and so after giving me the initial dates they wanted to stay with us which really worked well, they have changed them and asked to stay over the week I'll be in hospital and then home with new baby, after i'd already told mil she can stay but i don't want anyone else except her here so it was going to work well, so then db said ok we'll stay a little longer and come after the baby is home when you are settled a little, but no - today it's back to the original dates, so i've asked him why and can i call but he's apparently going to sleep and wants to talk about it another day - always the case - and I'm providing the bloody very cheap airfares!!! All of which is quite a good deal for his dg as she is not family and therefore I can only offer ONE person unrelated, such fares if I am not travelling with them!! No appreciation... (so it seems) I guess i should reserve judgement until I speak to him on the phone, or perhaps until i'm not pregnant!!
Sorry for the massivce rant, i'm really wound up today
Fell a bit better now though.

LadyThompson · 05/03/2010 11:24

Rubes - and Summer - massive, unreasonable anger here, which rises to the surface without too much provocation and I think I have a generally sunny disposition normally.

I am so with you, Rubes, on the shocked 'but you do X for a job and they are rolling in it' type remark. We get it with DP a lot and it is very wearing. He has to pay chambers 22% of his gross income, so with the tax and VAT bill, his credit card debts which date back to before he came to the bar and all the rest of it (currently running three properties and me out of work) things are hard. Now, I know tons of people are worse off than us and I do count my blessings, but I do grimace when people go on about barristers earning a fortune (legal aid ones like DP don't, civil ones might!)

I guess your folks have got a bit used to the cheap/free flights and are taking it for granted a bit.

SummerLightning · 05/03/2010 11:30

rubes to be fair that does actually sound massively annoying!

Beans33 · 05/03/2010 12:09

I have unreasonable anger too, but it leads to sobbing rather than rage. Pathetic. I hate confrontation, so avoid it at all costs and end up a weeping mess somewhere!!!

But yes, that does sound annoying - I'd be similarly cross.

My sister regularly talks about how skint they are - both lawyers - neither civil. They send their two kids to private school and have a huge flat in Bayswater and a chalet in chamonix. That does not seem skint to me! But she's lovely, so forgive her for it!

JumpJockey · 05/03/2010 12:24

[fan fan]

take it easy, pg ladies!

BLimey, people do take the mickey don't they. Rubs you must have the patience of an angel to put up with all that faffing.

saniflo - mmm that sounds lovely like the name of a panty liner.

nursery - dd is going in for half a day on Monday (we've got a funeral ) and that's costing £18.69 precisely. At the moment we're paying £450 a month for 3 days which seems pretty reasonable to me.

eek at siberian hamsters, we have massive spiders and the odd froggy when it rains, but nothing mammalian yet, I'd probably faint.

thanks for the ideas re the chair, apparently she's being a bit naughty at nursery as well - looks at the little bookshelf, gets ready to climb on it, staff member says "Sarah no" and she giggles and climbs up anyway I got a mini-lecture on discipline! Though they were very careful to say she's just being adventurous rather than labelling her as a naughty child.

LadyThompson · 05/03/2010 17:21

Oh dear, we've just been in a minor car accident. We went out to Daylesford for lunch as DP finished unexpectedly, and coming back we were turning right into a country lane but he hadn't seen the other car, whose reactions were very fast fortunately so our car was unscathed. Their car went into a ditch and was scratched and a little bashed but the two lads inside were unhurt. DP is normally a good driver but it was a terrible lapse of concentration and really shocking. It gave me a horrid jolt when we stopped suddenly, hope it hasn't done me any mischief (I am hoping that at 9 nearly 10 weeks, pregnancy is well insulated). DD is ok though.

It gave me pause for thought actually, because the two lads were so gracious about it. I wouldn't have been as cool and classy as they were, I'd probably have been screaming like a banshee.

Now DP is staying here because of the shock when he was supposed to go into chambers for a meeting and a drinks thing. Selfishly I wish he was going as I want to do my work and just be quiet after all that.

EffiePerine · 05/03/2010 17:27

The phone keeps eating my posts. I, on the other hand, am eating toffee.

Ladyt: glad you're ok. Must have been a shock. I'm sure the baby is fully protected by the pelvis before about 3 months, so try not to worry.

Posting this quick in case the curse strikes again! I have learned a lot about toilets. Not sure I really wanted to know, but it's filed under 'things to avoid'

Turniphead1 · 05/03/2010 17:44

Lady!! Glad you are all ok. Take it easy tonight.

Rubes - am (or rather, was) with you on the extreme rage thing when pg (I also have it postnatally too - nit now though). Deep breaths is all I can suggest. Some people are just SOOO irritating.

I was at a meeting today with my front bottom consultant. Who is now a potential client for interior design work. It is rather odd workingf or someone who has seen, err... rather more of me than even DH!

katie3677 · 05/03/2010 18:29

Lady, glad you are all ok and glad that the lads were so gracious (is it wrong of me to think that the car was probably stolen if they didn't give your P a hard time ?) I sound like my Dad .
Might be worth getting yourself checked out by the doc, but I wouldn't worry too much if you're feeling ok. Remember I was involved in an armed robbery (I was not doing the robbing) when I was 8 months PG, and the adrenaline didn't do DD any harm. Sudden jolt a bit different though.
Turnip, that is odd, my Gynae became my parents gardener, now that was wierd!
Off to the school quiz night with DH tonight, our one night out together in months and we have to do that, oh the glamour!
Wishing you all sunny, happy and fun weekends.

daisydora · 05/03/2010 18:30

Oh Ladyt how awful about your accident! But so glad that you are all okay.

DH off out later, so I'll be back in a bit...but we have booked a summer holiday today! Yay...right now to diet .

LadyThompson · 05/03/2010 18:47

Oh, I love quiz nights Katie, tres jealous.

Ah well Turnip, a client's a client!

Where are you off to Daisy? Love hearing about hols.

Rubes, I was trying to think which day we had pencilled - will you have plans on 14th for Mothering Sunday? I guess we would have just been going for lunch anyway. If not, we could rearrange?

I am ok, just feeling really fatigued and sick. I think it's the shock. I have vague pains but I think I might be imagining them tbh. Those boys really were the type who are a credit to their mothers. I think an older driver might have gone nuts. In fact, an older bloke got out of his car to tell DP "That wasn't very clever, was it?" Well, it sure wasn't and I am a bit cross but I don't want to make him feel worse than he already feels. The worst though is the anxiety that I may have harmed the baby. Everything I read on the web seems to suggest it will be ok but obviously one has doubts.

Kayz, if you are lurking I hope you have a nice weekend and things start to pick up.

Veggiemummy · 05/03/2010 19:01

Gosh Lady that's terrible, poor DP too. Glad your ok but does shake you up a bit.

Rubs, it's none of your SILs freaking beeswax, stupid mare. Everyone thinks Drs earn a packet, if you actually worked out what they earn per hour it would be a lot less than people think (esp JJs DH)

right who is in for Paris meet up?

Gynae becoming a gardner? Lady gardens to people gardens

right gotta go I'm not being very social sorry.
