Here we go!

Feierabend · 25/02/2010 16:30

Oh Bicnod before you have that early night, drink a glass or two of really good wine. You deserve it.

Hazel also still slightly poorly so couldn't have her second dose of the swine flu jab today. Which means she's missed the boat now because apparently they are not getting any more vaccine in. So I have cried too.

Also there is a house coming on the market in the road we'd like to live in, and it's 100k above our budget.

And the new Ikea lamp still looks shit.

I really think we're due a streak of luck soon?

OP posts:
Feierabend · 25/02/2010 16:31

Oh and Bebe, no idea sorry.

OP posts:
WhatFreshHellIsThis · 25/02/2010 18:06

Bicnod I posted exactly that recently about shouting at Orbit, and Orbit seems to be fine despite my losing my temper completely. It is rough but you are a good mummy, just one who has had very little sleep. Have a biscuit and a cup of tea and give Oscar a cuddle, and all will be well.

Bebe no idea, but my impression is that water pipes normally come up from the floor rather than run behind the wall. You're more at risk of electric cables, IMHO.

Feier if they're not getting in any more vaccine then presumably they don't consider it too much of a risk any more? Flu season is nearly over, let's face it. And try not to look at the lampshade - noone worries about lampshades when looking at a house, cause they're so easy to change.

Feierabend · 25/02/2010 19:51

Yep WFH that's what the nurse said, don't worry we haven't seen many cases recently. I am just p'd off because THEY messed it up in the first place by losing the vaccine on the day H was first supposed to have her second dose, when she was perfectly well. Oh well.

Fish supper is ready! Has anyone been watching One Born Every Minute? Wasn't that husband in the first episode a major twunt!

OP posts:
Feierabend · 25/02/2010 19:53

Oh and WFH the nurse said it was about cost rather than anything else! That's the NHS I guess.

And Bicnod I shouted at H yesterday when she wouldn't take her medicine. She didn't seem in the least bit disturbed by it. They forget. It's when they are DD1's age that you need to worry...

bebemoohatessnot · 25/02/2010 20:02

So I'm at a bit at a loss with Meg lately. She is not eating much during the day no matter what I offer her to eat, but she's waking up in the middle of the night hungry. I'm really loathe to feed her too much bm as I'm looking to limit this so that we can be on all real food at some time in the near future. But what can I do?
She was taking 2 jars of 200g a day along with cereal and 2 bf and her 150ml-250ml of juice/water. Now she's dropped the cereal and a whole jar of food and has taken far less fluids as of late too. I do know she's been sick (sinus infection/cold) but really I don't know how to encourage her to eat more. Do You think this is just a phase (3 weeks running now)? I'm just a bit worried because with all the movement (walking etc) she's using a lot more energy, and like I said I really don't want my supply to go back up just when it was levelling off again.

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 25/02/2010 22:44

bebe my feeling is that they tend to fall back on bm (or formula) when they're not feeling well, DS1 certainly used to and Orbit has only just come out of a phase of bf a lot and not much solids and is eating properly again.

If you're not keen to bf as much any more you could consider mix feeding? It's not a smooth progression from solids to completely weaned, there'll be moments when Moo decides she just wants bm and not too many solids - illness, teeth, tired, etc etc. Kind of two steps forward one step back

Feier that is annoying, hadn't realised they had messed it up last time. Can understand your frustration. Hope fish supper was lovely

Going to bed now - Orbit restless already so it's bound to be fun. He fell asleep on the boob last night and bit me really hard in the middle of the night - not a fun way to wake up.....

dawntigga · 26/02/2010 08:14

moo am v of baby moo, The Cub doesn't even crawl yet. He starts to but then gives up as he didn't really want the toy/food/dog anyway! Lazy Cub!

Bicnod it's been a week for shouting at babies - I shouted at The Cub several times this week and feel like the worse mother in the world. Sometimes you do - better to shout than to shake and he doesn't remember it now. Still feel rotten about it mind!

Fei I thought they'd stopped doing the H1N1 vaccine it 2 lots - The Cub had his in one shot.

bebe you need a stud detector - if only Nutty were here. The Cub has been pretty grotty for 2 weeks and he's eaten v little and become his little milk monster self again, as long as they get food from somewhere it's fine, I expect he'll go back go stuffing his face fairly soon if yesterdays grape incident is anything to go by!

Feierabend · 26/02/2010 08:44

LOL at stud detector!

Tigga Hazel has the egg free version, hence the need for two shots. Oh well.

Been up since 4.30 because of her cough and am verrrrrrrry grumpy.

Bicnod · 26/02/2010 10:05

Morning ladies. Feeling a bit better today as Oscar slept slightly better last night and DH got home from work at a reasonable time so we went to bed really early.

Thank you for all your kind words and reassurances - you are all lovely x x

Fei - Oscar is supposed to be having his swine flu jab on Sat morning (third attempt as the previous two times he's been poorly) but I suspect he won't be able to have it. I've been googling lots and according to the Chief Medical Officer this wave of swine flu is pretty much over, so I'm thinking that if he doesn't get it this time maybe I'll just hold off for the time being. Presumably if there was a third wave they would allow you to vaccinate if you hadn't already? Bloody annoying that H had the first jab and not the second one though - are there any walk-in clinics near you doing swine flu jabs?

BabyBolat · 26/02/2010 11:44

Hello ladies!

Just popping in to say hi! Has been a very very manic few months but feel like I am getting on top of things now! Sorry I haven't been on. Will try harder to be a better Fanjo Warrior!

How is everyone? Anyone feel like giving me a rundown of the new names and key events? If I try and read everything now it will take me another couple of months to actually write anything.

Very quick rundown from me:

Kara's been walking for about a a month or so now and my goodness it is hard work. I was very, very excited for those first few wobbly steps and now I just wish he would sit down! Especially as he can get up the stairs at the speed of light so I have to train myself to keep shutting that gate!! He is STILL not sleeping though (being particularly restless at the moment as his back teeth are coming through) and spends his entire day gabbling to himself in words that mean nothing to me but keep him amused. He is IN LOVE with Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and the dancing to the theme tune makes me laugh out loud every time. And I am a bad mother as I have sky plussed about 20 of them so whenever I need 15 minutes peace I plonk him down there and let him dance to himself whilst screaming at mickey!

Work is crazy busy, house build should start in a few weeks. DH's mum has been a bit poorly so we have been back and forth to Turkey a lot but she seems Ok now. Am very bored of the horrid weather and need it to be nicer as Kara is going crazy being cooped in.

What are everyones plans for birthdays? I am not really sure what to do for Kara's...

Anyway off to catch up a bit. Hope everyone is ok!

BabyBolat · 26/02/2010 15:10

WFH and Bicond sorry about your mum and grandma x

bebemoohatessnot · 26/02/2010 22:24

Moo was standing at the couch and under her own power turned and walked to her daddy 6 steps away... I started crying in amazement. !

Feierabend · 27/02/2010 12:07

Well done little Moo!

How is everyone? We're having a nightmare with Hazel teething, coughing and not really sleeping at all. I was supposed to go out tonight but have already cancelled the babysitter. I need this child to grow up fast.

Guimauve · 27/02/2010 12:38

Hello all

Apologies for the protracted absence. I am lurking and thinking FW-ly thoughts, but am generally feeling pretty 'meh' at the moment. Don't want to bore you all too much with the 'me me me my baby's going to nursery and I'm sooooo saaaaaaaaaaaad' business. We had a little 30 minute pre-start visit on Tues, with which H was not very impressed. Planning to take him in for 2-3 hours on Mon, and then from Tuesday it's in at the deep end.

H summary: crawling still backwards only, some way away from cruising, no teeth, eating sporadic, lots of babbling but no real words.

Gui summary: short bout of D&V followed by first period in nearly 2 years - not in a great mood ! Sewing name-tapes, washing work clothes (trousers are a leeetle snug), trying to remember what it is I do at work.

Yippee for walking Kara and Moo! How's the restauranty thing going BB?

Fingers crossed for MumWFH and GrandmaBicnod.

Auld - how goes progress with the housing/ electrics situation?

Guimauve · 27/02/2010 12:40

(I always thought that it was hilarious that it was Dick and Fanny in the Faraway Tree/ Wishing Chair )

BabyBolat · 27/02/2010 12:54

Fei, sorry about your night out.

Gim, grr for D&V and first period. I do hate them with a passion. Yay for crawling. How is his weight now? The first few months are hard but it gets a bit easier especially the picking up bit when they are giddy as a goat to see you!

Yay for moo! if she's anything like Kara in a week or so you will have her toddling around the house all the time. I think I have padded every possible surface to make sure he doesn't fall and crack his head open!

Restaurant is Ok, we are going over in April to do all the payments etc. Fingers crossed.

Feierabend · 27/02/2010 13:24

Wow it's really happening BB, how exciting.

Hello Gui! First proper period here, too. Grrrrrrrr. I thought I was feeling a bit premenstrual yesterday.

Must go put some washing on...

aoifesmama · 27/02/2010 19:24

Evening all,

Aoife also sick/teething/snotty/coughing refusing to even close her eyes anywhere but when lying on my chest. Last time she was ill ended up in hospital on Christmas Day, so fingers are tightly crossed she will pick up a bit.

She is cruising the furniture and standing suddenly over the last week or so. Much too lazy to even try to step, but she is grinning madly. She has absolutely no teeth despite all this bloody teething! And no real words other than mama, dada, Isaac (DH's name!), and no!

Hurrumph. Hoping DH will agree to go and get a take away once football is over...

kingbeat23 · 27/02/2010 20:30

hellllllllloooooooooo!!!!!!!!

havent even had time to find out what has been happening, but I have moved finally and have been here since wednesday. things still in boxes but finally seem to be getting into place.

Iris starts her new nursery on monday and am hoping she will be wll enough to go there.

She still isnt well. Ended up in hospital the week before last with a temp of 41 and still has d & v.....she doesnt seem too ill in herself, but a routine is up the wall and food seems to be going through her at a rate of knots. She has 1 tooth broken through and another 3 on the way, so im hoping the d is from that but its been over 7 days now and every time she wakes up in the morning it seems liike shes swimming in the stuff

on the upside, she has settled really well in her own room and loves her new bed, so things cant be that bad!!

love to all and ill try to pop in regularly to try and keep up....

x

mrsgboring · 28/02/2010 15:43

Congrats on the move Kingbeat for Iris's illness

Sorry about the night out and all the vaccine hassle, Fei

Wow, Bebe and BB - definitely having a "B" MN name causes early walking in babies

Hello Gui. Sorry you're sad about return to work; I have total sympathy .

Crossing fingers for a snot free 15thMarch, Tigga.

Sorry I'm not doing such a good job of keeping up. Life is busy. Currently insane because we find out DS1's school allocation tomorrow. Bit dicey whether we get into our nearest catchment school so I'm feeling totally ill with worry about something I really can't change. Which is stupid.

Edmund is cruising and has finally worked out how to crawl forwards effectively. Attention span is increasing too so I can read a greater variety of books to him

PuzzleRocks · 01/03/2010 08:27

Good morning

I just wrote a really long post then lost the bugger.

Hi BB, good to hear you are all well. Everything sounds very exciting.
We are taking the girls to Whipsnade for Holly's first birthday.

Holly has been walking all weekend. About 8 steps is her max before she gets fed up and decides to crawl again.

King - I hope Iris makes a speedy recovery. You must be exhausted with so much going on.

MrsG - Fingers crossed for today.

bebemoohatessnot · 01/03/2010 09:29

Morning all.
Hope this weekend brought better health to those sick in your families.
Also hope unpacking is going well.
And hope house hunting is going even better. (I've heard a good camouflage of down spots and brickwork can confuse the buggers and make it far easier to sneak up on the perfect prey.)
Waiting is killer for those doing that too, but is it as bad as last year when you were waiting for your littlest one to arrive I wonder?

Moo cried for the first time seeing off daddy to work...do you think she understands that it might be a long time until she sees him again? Or was it just a 'normal' response? DH wants us to make it a weekly thing to come see him. He says if he gets another extension we'll look for a place over that way.
She also is still struggling with the nights; wakes up super hungry and despite my saying I'd rather not have my milk increase again it has and I've got whoppers on the front of me again...She wouldn't take any formula from a bottle or a sippy cup this weekend so I may have wasted my money on the stuff. (It was rather amusing but frustrating too in that she'd suck some up then just open her mouth and let it all dribble out and then blow raspberries to get the last of it out -or so it seemed to be the only reason to blow raspberries)
Right I'm off... I've nearly got the house to a reasonable level of tidiness but I have a few more things to do before it stays in 'working order' so I need to continue with that. AND if I have time this evening I'm going to do something creative after Moo goes to bed (shhh! don't tell her I'm trying to have a life after she's a sleep or she may never sleep again) I'm going to make her a handmade scrap book/baby book. I worked on binding the pages yesterday night and I need to put the cover on tonight if I'm not too tired.
love and hugs and strength to all
x B

mrsgboring · 01/03/2010 10:07

Just to update you on here, we got the school we wanted for DS1 so am a much relieved bunny. Thanks for the crossed fingers, Puzzle and others.

Bebe you are dead right it is nowhere near as bad as the wait for a room to be induced in (24 hours of hell) although it did remind me of that a little bit.

Sounds like Moo is getting more attached to her daddy - they go through a phase where they will cry if you leave them for 2 seconds, so it could be the start of that.

Had better go off and be a mother to my sons now. Have been a stressed out meanie to them so far this morning.
