New thread idea good jfly!

See what I did, now we are two - for those with new number 2 and expecting number 2.

And all the rest of us who get at least 2 tantrums a day from the 2 year olds.

Hello all - flying visit as I am meant to be packing for our holiday on Tues while DH goes to soft play with DS. Still not quite sure who drew the short straw! Holiday can't come a moment too soon - have had to cancel two short breaks due to my mc and DH having swine flu so no proper hol for 8 months which is a very long time for us, and with house move, repeated illness from DS (yet another bloody nursery virus this past week) and me being pregnant, we are all knackered, slightly grey-tinged and in desperate need of relaxing family time together.

JFly - by the time I return you should have had the scan. Fingers very tightly crossed for you as I know how nervewracking it is. I couldn't join Sept 2010 antenatal board as I just knew I couldn't cope with the bad news while waiting out first trimester - nothing like experience to really scar you with regards to the realities and statistical odds of pregnancy. At least G should provide lots of toddler tantrums distraction for you over the next 2 weeks . Take care x

Hello and big wave to everyone else

Paranoid1stTimer · 03/05/2010 12:06

Lurking again [waves at you all}

Just wanted to say evie2000 your post was lovely and heartwarming. Made me smile. Even though the weather is great, I am having a hard time since it is 3 years next week since my lovely Mum died very suddenly and it is really, really hard for me again.

Anyway, not to lower the mood because I too am crossing everything for everyone's scans and results.

I too can't believe that we have little boys and girls now instead of babies but little D is the BEST thing that has ever happened to me.

Sending positive thoughts to all

monthlymayhem · 03/05/2010 23:02

Flying visit to say hello and hope everyone is well - congrats especially to all those with new bumps!

I'm now 32 weeks, so on the home straight. Finally found a house, although we don't get the keys until two weeks after due date which isn't the greatest timing.....

DS is alternating between being cute, clever, funny little angel and demonic child....oh the joys

merryberry · 11/05/2010 14:23

ah para, i hope your coped ok with the anniversary of your mum's death.

meg is still on holiday, right?

more babies soon

ewe hello? how's the politics going? i keep seeing you on those threads. often i have to not post, as i don't think my BP can stand it.

i've booked some summer hols for us. 3 short trips over the 6 week holiday, all by public transport so far. one in sheringham YHA for 4 nights while kitchen is refitted, one to bucks to my dad's pied a terre and close to visit the ILs, and one to the dorset coast with my BF for a couple of nights. details up in the air, budget matching will be an issue, as she is a single barrister, and well, i'm not Really looking forward to this plus some summer playdates to get us through in one piece, then hoping to start ds2 at pre-school a few mornings in September. Can someone remind me who I speak to to ensure warm and dry weather for 90% of the summer please?

i am seriously contemplating doing lighter life. i cannot abide being such a fat and stuck mum. the last steroid dose i had to have has made me feel utterly disgusting. worried my gp will say no, due to ra/gut/nutrition issues. but think i will ask anyway, pushing the grounds that i must get weight off my ailing knee, hip and toe joints. also worried dh will think i'm bonkers. must talk to him, some point when our paths cross. poor man is working deranged hours.

OP posts:
merryberry · 11/05/2010 14:24

ewe to clarify, your posts never raise my BP!

OP posts:
merryberry · 12/05/2010 22:05

ewe i'm having cross fora meltdown. you got asked to change your name? not pleased for you.

Dontpanic · 13/05/2010 22:05

Jfly all the best for tomorrow, if i've calc the timespan correctly!

para been thinking of you, hope you're ok.

MB glad you're getting some holiday time, party it up! Any luck with the lighter life thing? A friend of mine did it & lost shed loads, mainly as a result of the CBT they use (as that kept her on the diet rather than giving up at 1st sign of stress). Wouldn't use it myself personally as I'd go the hypno route and take a more gentle approach on the actual eating so it's gradual & less shock to the system. And the LL costs a sodding fortune!

Cream cakes passed round to everyone else as a hello!

Dontpanic · 13/05/2010 22:07

ps what's the goss on Ewe & namechange? Who are you now?

merryberry · 13/05/2010 22:20

it's not goss, she something reasonably cheeky and election oriented like ewestupidtoryvoter and got censured.

i've had a go with towers various fronts recently but this one takes the biscuit. if she'd changed it to you ewestupidmerryberry i'd still have laughed at the clever pun use and in no way complained. it's ok to let trolls post bnp threads (britannia1) and leave it up to muggins here to try and squash the thread, but 'stupidtory' gets censured. i dunno.

lighterlife...have hardly seen dh to get him onside! had to take extra afternoon meeting today. it's not that expensive compared to the weird things i eat and the expensive coping strategies i undertake, like high end moisturisers. in fact it's probably money saving [shamefaced emoticon].

damn i really can't find something i'm looking for, got to go.

Ewe · 13/05/2010 23:10

Ahhhhh! I am back! Exams done, I am so over politics in both academic and real terms sorry been very rubbish on here recently but home now

Still not been to get my blood test, going next week providing I can find someone to have DD, will keep you all posted but when I saw GP he thought very unlikely.

Yes, mb is right, I name changed to EweStupidToryVoters - obv a joke, as I said on the original thread I mentioned it on I had a baby with a tory! It was a play on words, could have been anything but I got emailed asking to change my name back. I only mentioned it on the thread about BNP threads as an example of how hq can do what they want really! But yes, annoying, I was tempted to be silly and belligerent but rose above it.

turtle - sorry for not texting you back, been deep in revision hell this week but around next week if you fancy meeting up? See that T is a giant now, would be lovely to see you all.

So ladies, meet up in London any time soon?

mb, I tried lighter life before and found it impossible as they tasted so disgusting that I didn't eat them, was dead skinny after though but also just generally not eating! Have you tried Slimming World? I know lots of people who have had success with it. Personally, I am doing the New Atkins as of Monday now I can stop mainlining sugar whilst staying up late studying.

Hope everyone is alright, sorry to anyone I have missed!

merryberry · 14/05/2010 07:14

ah there you are, hope they went well!
normal diets aren't undercutting my base rate enough it seems. i am so sedentary (how i'm in perm motion then i don't know) that without steroid depot in me i can only take in 1500 a day without weight gain and with steroids it actually about 12-1300 non of which can be carbs so i'm fecking hungry and miserable all the time anyway so i thinks omething drastic like this would probably actually cheer me up. as otherwise i feel like i'm batting a losing wicket, constantly.

turtle23 · 14/05/2010 10:34

Ewe- defo meet up and will happily have T as well if it helps.

T is indeed a monster. He is in same size nappy as P and moved him up to big car seat today. (Sad that I dont have a little baby anymore kind of )

timmyinatizzy · 14/05/2010 13:31

mb I am a member of Slimming World. Its worked for me and I don't do exercise either. I lost 1 stone 2 1/2 lbs from September to early March and I'm still keeping it off . Can't endorse it highly enough.

Ffrecklefface · 14/05/2010 14:16

merryberry I know someone (friend of a friend) who did LL, and they lost four stone really quickly but then struggled to keep it off. It's definitely worth a chat with your GP, I think.

ewe I am so jealous that you're finished for the summer. I've still got three weeks to go, and am buried under a list of cases so long I may as well try and memorise the phone book.

Waves at everyone else. Welcome back turtle. I couldn't believe how big T is when you posted it on FB. Your amazing milk must be some sort of baby miracle grow! I checked Ff's red book after you posted, and, the last time I got her weighed she was 13 months and weighed 17lbs. T looks so cute in you picture on FB.

Back to the books now. See you all in a few weeks.

merryberry · 14/05/2010 22:05

ah it's a cabal of GP and rheum team saying do lighter life. i have a final investigation to go round with the gastro pods at UCH next week and sometime after that I'll get some proper pointing in the right direction.

think i may just get on with online slimming world while i wait. does it work as well as going to groups i wonder? i won't be able to do that, checked, the days locally are useless for me.

OP posts:
JFly · 15/05/2010 20:04

Ah, nice to see you all.

DP, you are good. Yes, scan was yesterday. Felt relieved for all of 5 minutes before i started worrying about nuchal measurements. I'm driving myself insane with this pg! I was never this worried with G.

The sonographer didn't help matters when the first thing she said when she started the scan was "when was your LMP again?" Panic! So, basically she wasn't happy that I was 11w5d and said I should really have the scan in a week's time. As if I made the appt myself!

She was still able to do the nuchal, but afterwards I felt as though she didn't do a thorough screening. (And she only mentioned the heartbeat about 1/2 way through. I was thinking, just tell me my baby is alive!) Also, she made the nuchal measurement, recorded it with the chap at the computer and then at the end re-took the measurement and increased it from 2.4 to 2.7. Don't like those numbers.

Anyhoo, I'm unsettled and will call midwife to see if there's a chance of another scan. If not, will go to FMC/Harley St. I'm not f'ing around. I can't take this worry.

Good luck to everyone on exams!

MB, LL sounds rather extreme and hard to maintain as a "lifestyle". I certainly wouldn't have the willpower, but I know you are strong! Weight Watchers has online memberships, I think, so you don't have to bother with groups/meetings. Might be a good start?

Ewe · 15/05/2010 22:52

Oh JFly, they don't sound terribly helpful, are you under St.G or Chelsea?

I am sure all is well but if you are worried FMC are fab, I had a few scans with them in early pregnancy and they were so reassuring and thorough. highly recommend if you haven't used them before.

Ahem. I see you all politely ignoring my request for group meet up! Come on ladies, you're all near ish. We could do sans children if more appealing?

JFly · 15/05/2010 22:57

Oh no, not ignoring! Just too busy gabbing about me and MY isshooes. Yes, let's meet up! That Kensington Gardens play area was fab. Or without children works for me!

Am at C&W. Had a late scan with G at FMC and was impressed with them. Will definitely go again if I feel brushed off.

turtle23 · 16/05/2010 08:35

Meet-up good for me too. Let me know what date suits everyone?

megonthemoon · 16/05/2010 10:50

hello all - flying visit to say i'm back from st lucia - super relaxing, and all recuperated from illnesses and knackeredness now. enjoying the good health while it lasts. which may not be too long - ds was playing with a little boy a few days ago who later that night came out in chicken pox, so we are waiting to see. anyone know how long from exposure to spots? as i said, enjoying the good health while it lasts

jfly - glad scan went well. i'm so with you on the worrying. have my 20 week scan on weds (actually at 23+3 as they refused to do it before hol even though i was 20wks+) and increasingly panicked about it. sigh.

merryberry · 16/05/2010 12:18

meg ds2 took 11 days from exposure to spots. and good luckw ith scan. you've had cpox yourself right? or else i think you can get a shot of something useful if not.

jfly i wonder why more worry this time - more insider knowledge of what can go wrong/how hospitals get it wrong?

i'll do a meet up too, bearing in mind i routinely have school run in tufnell park at 9am and 330pm. though wednesdays and fridays i can get our home help to do 330pm one.
