lemon thanks for the link, it looks very good. I might just have to give it a go.

DH is out tonight and DD is at her Dads. Both boys are now in bed ... it's so quiet! I have a whole evening to myself, tv remote to myself ... and I can't think of what to do! Cake and some drivel on tv I think

helips · 26/02/2010 20:41

Thanks for that scarlotti Ds was very very cranky before bed yesterday, so today when he fell asleep in the car I left him there rather than bringing him into the house. I kept checking on him and left him for almost an hour, he was still grumpy though so putting it down to him being unwell.

Thanks for that link lemontop I'm definitely going to give that a go.

Weston good luck with the potty training, let us now how you get on. I need to potty train ds but putting it off, he is 2.6 so will need to do it soon.

laugs I know what you mean about the tiredness, my idea of heaven right now is a weekend spent in bed!

Both the kids are in bed, dh is watching the rugby with his friend so I am planning to spend the evening having a couple of glasses of wine, mumsnetting and then an early night, perfect

Trikken · 26/02/2010 21:36

sorry if we've had this conversation recently but is everyone keeping the babies in their room til six months? cos im sure i only had ds in my room til four months old and then into his cot in his room gradually. Annabelle is starting to get too big for her moses basket.

Fruitpastels · 26/02/2010 21:59

Evening ladies. Hope you are all having a restful night. Sending lots of sleep vibes to everyone, including myself!

Trikken I don't think we are anywhere near to moving DS to his room yet. I think we'll be 6 months or beyond when that happens. Part of me is holding on to these days as much as possible, as I think he will be my last baby.

Scarlotti Not a a lot of napping here either. I haven't given him his formula top up the last couple of nights since DH has been away. I don't seem to have much luck with him taking the bottle from me. I will attempt it tonight as I know it will help him sleep longer.

I can't remember who mentioned the congestion at 5am. Lot's of congestion here. I'm of the opinion that it's waking him earlier in the morning than he would like, so I'm looking forward to it clearing up and seeing if it helps on the sleep front.

I'm off to bed. Have a busy day tomorrow.

DontWorryBaby · 26/02/2010 22:22

trikken Ethan is 2 days short of 13wks and is sleeping a 6/7 hr block most nights, that better not jinx it now! I'm just trying to put finishing touches to his room and if his sleep continues as it is, move him from cradle in our room to cot in his own room. Hopefully he will be around four months when we move him assuming the dreaded four month sleep regression doesn't kick in and mess up our plans.

If he was still feeding a lot I'd certainly try to keep him in our room longer. Also hoping he might sleep even better on his own.

Not entirely sure why they recommend six months. Anyone? I know it's supposed to reduce risk of cot death but I don't really understand how that works. I can see how smoking/sleeping position etc could have an effect.

PavlovtheCat · 26/02/2010 23:54

ok i have not read any posts apart from dontworrybaby (sorry you are still claired21 to me!), and just want to say your baby Ethan is one day younger than mine and at the sleeping length! Reuben has done 8 hours once, 6 hours a few times, but mostly 3-4 hours! I thought i was getting it going the 6 hours, then it all stopped, although in his defence he has had a few coughs and splutters which seem to stop his sleeping so well.

I will catch up tomorrow, just wanted to let you know how i am. Have i said that i am yet? .

I do hope it keeps up, i hope you continue to have many more long long sleeps!

DontWorryBaby · 27/02/2010 06:03

pav He is over 15lbs, that might explain things!! I get him weighed every other Wednesday and 10 days ago he was 14lbs 13 so next week he could easily be 16lbs8 as he's putting on around 1lbs10 ish every fortnight! I keep expecting it to even out but nothing yet!

Had a chat with DP last night about me having some non baby time so he banished me to mothercare & morrisons on my own. It's a start at least! I was gone 90 mins or less, fed E before I left but arrived home to a screaming baby and DP frantically defrosting some milk. 6oz bottle kept his hunger at bay for around 90mins. He's a little guzzler in the evenings.

DontWorryBaby · 27/02/2010 06:17

PS On that note, can any of the mums using formula give us an idea of how many oz their babies have per day or per feed? I've always gone for a 6oz bottle for Ethan but suspect after tonight's performance that he needs more.

Fruitpastels · 27/02/2010 06:36

DWB I am bf but we do a formula top up of a night. I think DS must weigh around 16lbs now. He guzzled the 6ozs last night and wanted more. I will give him 7ozs tonight and see if he takes it. Glad you managed some time on your own last night

lemontop · 27/02/2010 06:59

I normally offer 7oz bottles

It was this weekend last year I found out I was pregnant and this year I'm up at 5 being covered in poo and wee. How things change!

scarlotti · 27/02/2010 08:18

Trikken DS1 was 4 months when we moved him into his own room, but that was more down to him keeping me awake and vice versa. I then spent anothe 3+ months traipsing to his rooom at 3am for feeding which wasn't fun at all Good tip for moving rooms though is to move them in their current sleeping recepticle so they get used to the new room first. Moses baskets can be put inside the new cot for a few nights and it makes the transition so much easier.
Think I'll wait this time, Ioan doesn't seem to be a noisy sleeper so we're fine until he first wakes for a feed. Like Fruit I think it's the snuffles here that are making early mornings a bit of a struggle too. I've just this morning changed the heating settings in the hope that might help.
We seem to also start the day earlier now too, maybe due to snuffles or maybe due to lighter mornings? Please let it be due to snuffles
The waking at 5am the night before last was a fluke back to 3am this morning. He only took 4.5 oz from his bottle last night though, whereas the night before he took 6oz. Might have to try and wake him to take more tonight.

Fruit your ds2 and mine are so similar! Same age, weight and even same snuffles!!

Fruitpastels · 27/02/2010 08:48

I was thinking that Scarlotti Both baby boys and we have 4 year old son's too! When do you hear about your offer of school for DS1?

Up at 5am today -again I can cope with 6am as DS1 sometimes gets me up at around 6.30am so that's not so bad. He was struggling to breathe this morning. My heating isn't on in our bedroom and I have the humidifier on through the night close to his bed. I'm going to give my bedroom a spring clean today (If he's naps for long enough!) Give the carpet a good hoover and get rid of any dust that may be lurking. In the hope it might help him breathe a bit better, I'm allergic to lots of things i.e dust, he might take after me with the allergies.

We moved DS1 to his own room at around 4 months as he was too big for his basket. DS2 is in his hammock so I'll see how long he lasts in that. The rate he is growing it won't be too long until he's in a cot.

DH is back tomorrow. I've not had chance to miss him! But I will appreciate him so much when he walks through that door!

ursigurke · 27/02/2010 09:11

Broodzilla, I'm sorry that you could not sort out the sleeping problem. It's always hard to guess why, isn't it. We have a similar problem here. Paula cries frequently, I think normally she is asleep at first but wakes up eventually. Sometimes it is possible to calm her just by stroking or putting my hand on her chest, sometimes not. I usually end up taking her into our bed (I got used to it so sleep quite well) but that can't be the solution. I'll pick up my no cry sleep book today, hopefully I'll pick up some useful tipps.

Well, I'll have my first massage out of a course of 6 today! This was the christmas present from my husband and I finally can start using it as Paula can do longer breaks without food now.

BTW, how often do you feed at the moment? Especially does who only breastfeed. Paula used to need a feed every two hours or under for a really long time. We slowly went up to three hours and all of a sudden she doesn't want anything for up to six hours. Sometimes it worries me but it is impossible to give her more.(And that's why I then need to feed her more often than I want during the night)
Weightwise she was fine last time but it was just at the beginning of this new pattern so I can't be sure that she gets really enough.

DontWorryBaby · 27/02/2010 09:45

ursi I try to feed every 3 hours. Ethan can go for longer if he falls asleep in his car seat or pram but I do try to wake him. I think if they consume less during the day they're hungrier during the night.

Hope you enjoy your massage, what a fantastic gift!

BeckyBendyLegs · 27/02/2010 12:07

It is DS2's birthday party at our house today. Wish me luck

It's coming up to a year since I fell pregnant (didn't find out though until early March). Weird. It's been quite a year!

Toby drinks five 8oz bottles per day (we're talking down to the last drop) and is hungry for more... I am a bit concerned as don't want to start him on solids yet. He's only 15 weeks.

Trikken · 27/02/2010 14:58

BBL Annabelle was born on the same day as your Toby, and she drinks five lots of 8/9 oz bottles per day too. ds went on to hungry baby stuff around about this time, so might do that with Annabelle as well. Am going to start Annabelle on solids at six months as long as she is satisfied with formula til then.

weston · 27/02/2010 15:07

good luck with party BBL very brave to have in house! DD1 is 3 Thursday but am outsourcing to playbarn next sat!

Think boys tend to be hungrier and hungrier baby formula worth trying. DD2 however is the opposite extreme and is a dainty little thing..however is it driving me mad as everyone keeps assuming she was premature cause she's small!!

Potty training going well do far, hoping cause i have left it so late will be easy..she seems to know when she wants to wee and then sits on potty so so far so good. Have also been bribing with sweets and as she has a sweet tooth like me its working well!!

scarlotti · 27/02/2010 18:59

Fruit we don't find out about schools until May, annoying as it doesn't leave that much time to sort out childcare before they start. Have had to apply for an after school club in the hope that he gets the first choice!

Good luck with the party BBL you've done well to hold it at home. I go down the church hall route these days.

weston glad the potty training is going well

Well I've managed to mess up the christening arrangements! Planned to have people back here at home afterwards, but we have about 40 adults and 20 children coming so don't think we'll have the space if we could guarantee the weather we'd be ok, but as it's in April that's not a given. So now have to have a think about where I can get!

Fruitpastels · 27/02/2010 23:29

We have been to A&E this evening. DS1 thought it would be a good idea to push a small sticker up his nose! I was putting DS2 to bed and left DS1 to watch the rest of his Scooby Doo film. I came downstairs and he told me straight away. He must have sniffed it up as he was getting upset and started to panic. So we ended up 3 hrs at A&E. The Doctor managed to get it out - phew. I'm sure DS won't be doing that again! I'm just glad we didn't have to see an ENT and start mucking about with his nose. I'm am totally shattered after my 5am start this morning and I've not stopped all day. I'm going to feed DS2 and get to bed. I hope both boys give me a well deserved lie-in. Night all.

DontWorryBaby · 27/02/2010 23:44

Lol fruit I remember doing that with a Lego flower when I was young. In fact my niece did it a couple of years ago, while sleeping over with me. It was a yoghurt covered raisin. I told her not to panic, got tissues and calmly asked her to blow her nose... She inhaled!! Silly aunty claire thinking she knew how to blow her nose! Luckily (TMI alert) the yoghurt melted and the raisin popped out and fell onto the sofa.

Sorry you've had such a late night, hope you can catch up on some well deserved sleep x

lucieerin · 28/02/2010 00:35

Really don't think anyone will remember me from DIN09 thread...I could never keep up!

Birth went well (ecs on nov 18), and ds3 is 15 weeks on Thursday

Sorry for my VERY rubbish attempt in keeping up, joining the pn group so late, and my rubbish baby-fell-asleep-on-me-feeding-so-typing-one-handed typing!

Fruitpastels · 28/02/2010 06:03

No rest for the wicked. I'm up again at 5am. I realised this morning that DS would jump around in my belly at this time of morning and I went into labour at 5am. DS1 has had me up twice for the toilet. I'm craving sleep so badly

Welcome lucieerin I do remember you. Congrats on your 3rd boy!!

DWB LOL at your story. It must be a common sight at A&E with kiddies having stuffed something up their nose.

DS2 hasn't emptied his bowels for 1 week now. He is weeing and feeding well. HV said it't not unknown for a bf baby to not go for up to 2 weeks We have tried all the usual things to get him to go, but nothing working so far. HAd a bad day with him yesterday and I'm wondering if its his tummy or teething, probably both.

lucieerin · 28/02/2010 08:36

thanks Fruitpastels ...I found this thread quite quickly I think, less because of the "November 09" and more because of the "getting covered in sick" bit...oh boy does Isaac love to be sick! He's a lot better than he was though..he was very colicky as well as reflux-y when was little (colic made worse by his floppy larynx...he'd be fine at night when he dream fed but during the day he'd make such an almighty racket feeding and then poor little guy would be in pain with the colic for ages. Now it's just upchuck mostly.

Which is great as DS2 recently got a sick bug...only to recover in time for me to get fl u..which is now abating, and DS1 made sure he kept the pace up and has the sick bug too Awesome hehe.

Fruitpastels, we had similar problems with Isaac, and Ashton & Parsons seemed to instantly solve both problems, worth a shot as they don't do any harm

lucieerin · 28/02/2010 08:38

and i meant 19 nov haha....bad mummy!!

BeckyBendyLegs · 28/02/2010 08:50

Hello! We have chicken pox (DS1). I have no idea what I need to do in terms of quaranteen, etc. Can DS2 still go to nursery even though he is fine? Anyway, hope everyone is well. DS1 is well except for spots. We had DS2's birthday party here yesterday - lots of fun but really knackering. The house is covered in fairy lights with DH grumbles about 'it's not Christmas anymore!'. Baaah humbug.

Hello Lucieerin I remember you too! So you too have three DSs now? I have DS3 sitting on my nap watching me type. He is 15 weeks too now.
