PreggoK8 · 04/02/2010 19:33

claired21 · 04/02/2010 19:57

I'll try to link it...

weston · 04/02/2010 20:06

oh a new thread, how exciting, is this only our first new post natal??

went to doc and he said which i knew he would that i need to supplment with formula, to be honest i don't really have a problem with as I have been breast feeding now for 3 months and happy to make the move over in the next month but for now how many bottles and how much formula should i give her to supplement the breast milk? she is now 11 weeks and 9 5

skorpion · 04/02/2010 20:42

Thanks for the new thread k8 and for the link claire

Thanks again for the advice, I wish I'd given her the meds sooner and saved her all the crying.

Had a look at the photos on FB - this must surely be the place for the cutest November babies ever!!

skorpion · 04/02/2010 20:45

weston the formula instructions will be useless in her case if you're bf'ing. Could you just start with, say, 60ml and see if she takes it? It would still be sort of demand feeding, or demand topping up, you could adjust it depending on how she gets on. Hope it goes well.

hobnob57 · 04/02/2010 20:58

I'm pleased to report we've had a good day DD managed twice to cry settle herself to sleep and slept for a good 2 hours each time. I got the washing up done and 2 loads of washing

I'm sorry your DD had a hard time after jabs skorpion. Personally, this week I've been kind of wishing DD had jabs more often - she was so sleepy!

Stumbled across a copy of the Midwife Trilogy in Costco yesterday. Looking forward to it, and so happy from reading the Intro that pregnancy is no longer the life-threatening condition it used to be.

skorpion · 04/02/2010 21:12

Well done, Isla. Make sure that you rest as well, hobnob, when you get a chance like this

I'm off to listen to my own advice - Lucy's asleep, bed for me, too. Night, xx

TOK · 04/02/2010 22:50

Oooh, a lovely new thread! Well done preggo .

Hope your dd sleeps well for you tonight skorpion. Anya has hers next week and will be getting a dose of calpol straight away. It seemed to work last time so fingers crossed!

Good day here. Dh and I have decided to start looking for a new house and so I have been looking at our current house from a buyers point of view. There is no way anyone would want to buyu it in its current state there is crap clutter EVERWHERE! So I have been in ruthless mode, dumping lots of stuff. Now DH is looking for some important document which has mysteriously disappeared I hope I didn't throw it out , I don't think I did...

Right, going to bed, out of the way of grumpy dh. Night night ladies, hope you all have a good night xxx

ErikaMaye · 04/02/2010 22:59

Just booking in - must agree with Skorpion, we are the mothers of rather attractive babies

wook · 04/02/2010 23:07

Hi everyone, think Hedy is teething, lots of crossness, knuckle chewing, red cheeks etc. Been so long between children that I can't remember this phase with ds. Just throwing Calpol at the problem and hoping for the best- can't wait to see a tooth! Then there are twenty more to go or so after that....

Anyone else still feel a bit foggy headed? I just feel kind of wishy washy now, which at least is an improvement on cross all the time!

Still loving the Big Scream and have so far seen Nowhere Boy, Up In The Air, The Boys Are Back, Nine and Precious- more films since xmas than in the whole time since ds was born in 2005!!! Precious is an amazing film, but I had my eyes shut a lot of the time as it was a bit of an onslaught.

Thinking of applying for jobs but feel a bit unreal about it. Have no choice but to work, as shortfall in monthly survival budget is about £700, which has to be earnt by me. Add on childcare costs and spending money, ie anything above food, and I'm looking at having to go back full time or 4 days, and probably to teaching as I'm not really qualified for anything else. Scary!!! Having plenty of time to regret stomping out of my last job now....!

On facebook I am wondering if I am still not visible as my privacy settings areramped up- was something you said Pav made me wonder.

Oops, very me me me again. Was going to respond to everyone but now I need the loo- argh!

PavlovtheCat · 04/02/2010 23:18

just bookmarking...great title

longwayaway · 05/02/2010 04:48

Hi!! Sorry to have lost track of the conversation during our move, will catch up soon hopefully.

10 hour flight went fine, but the jetlag is killing us... our lovely routine has gone to pot. Fortunately (ha) we're unemployed at the moment so no need to be conscious for anything

southernbelle77 · 05/02/2010 06:35

Just checking in quickly with the new thread. Sorry for being awol again.

We are off on holiday on Monday so trying to get everything packed - packing for an almost 3 month old baby is hard work! They need so much stuff that there will be no room left for the rest of us to take anything

Any good ideas for a very stuffy baby? She is ok during the day when she's not lying down for 12 hours solid, but by about 4am she is so stuffy that she can barely breathe. We have saline drops and oblas children as well as a nuk pump for her nose but none of it is doing much. And have raised her moses basket at the end but that doesn't seem to help either.

Will try and catch up with everyone later....

Trikken · 05/02/2010 08:09

hi. will post later, x

Ninjacat · 05/02/2010 08:30

Just letting you know I can't seem to get time to write much but I do lurk

TOK · 05/02/2010 08:32

Morning all.

Well, I have come to the conclusion that our babies are all in kahoots because I will read a post about an unsettled night and as sure as can be, Anya will do the same thing that very night! Didn't get much sleep last night so defintely have the foggy feeling today wook. Could you do supply work so that you can be more flexible in the days you work and you'll earn that little bit more? The only downside is not getting paid for holidays/sick though.

southern it sounds like you are doing everything you can for the stuffiness I'm afraid. The only other thing I could suggest would be taking her into the bathroom when the shower is running so that its nice and steamy. That may help.

longwayaway glad your trip went ok, hope you recover from the jetlag soon!

Laugs · 05/02/2010 08:41

Hi, just catching up. Have a fab holiday southern! Is it Euro Disney or did I just make that up? You could try steam.

Hello again longaway! Where are you staying - with family or did you have a home to go to?

I'll have to read the end of the last thread, but I guess Lucy was unsettled after jabs Skorpion? James had his yesterday too and just fed and cried all evening, poor love. At one point, before I gave up counting, he'd fed 7 times in 6 hours, so I am suffering for it today. Also, my parents are coming for the weekend in an hour... We were supposed to be tidying the pigsty we call home last night, but crying baby put an end to all that. I'll have to run around stuffing things in cupboards, as usual.

Oh Pavlov I thought of you and your no-nonsense way with builders as I went to the GP yesterday to tell him I needed the thrush treatment. I got the meds (finally) and text DH afterwards. I was about to write 'I channelled my inner Pavlov' when I realised he isn't on MN. I don't think.

Laugs · 05/02/2010 08:43

we'll have to stop talking about Ninja then

Fruitpastels · 05/02/2010 08:47

Southern have a good holiday! Karvol on a tissue may help.

Sorry for the brief post. It's been a busy week. I will catch up over the wkend.

scarlotti · 05/02/2010 08:58

Morning all

preggo well done on the new thread

longwayaway glad you all got there ok and hope the jetlag goes soon

Well i changed his nappy last night at 4am and he slept until 7:15 - hoorah! Still feeling a little rough today as we both have colds but am grateful we seem to have finally got back to a 4am wake and then a block of sleep after. He fed like crazy last night before bed, from about 5pm - 6pm and then again at 7 when he went to bed so then took less at 10pm but it was obviously all enough.
Another one here with a snotty baby at night and as he sucks his dummy to go to sleep, the poor lamb really struggles as he can only breathe through his mouth.

Laugs well done with your gp!

weston I topped up with formula when he was born and used to put 50ml in a cup, he didn't always take it all but he was 9lb8 at birth so not that far off your little one. I still have the cups if they're of any use to you? I stole kept the ones i used in hospital along with the little bottles. Happy to pop them in the post - I used the little bottles to take it out of the main fridge formula bottle then the cup to serve it. Supposed to help limit nipple confusion, although I guess at this age it might not be an issue.

wook I'll be going back full time too so you're not alone. Starting to think about childcare here now, was going to put him in DS1's nursery but on reflection I'd prefer a childminder initially so it's more of a home from home.
At least they don't sit in their daycare and compare notes as to who's mummy is home the most!

wook · 05/02/2010 09:32

Southern Boots have a kind of essential oil mix that you put on the radiator or in a bowl of hot water, just another thing that may help with the nose.
I think I am getting a bit addicted to using the snot sucker, there's a kind of perverse thrill in seeing all the goo
Scarlotti you're right- if Hedy gets to go to the same nursery as Leo I know she'll be far too happy and stimulated to think about missing me!
tok you're right, supply is always there as a fall back and it may be the best option, but pride is preventing me from thinking that at the moment- I am (well I suppose I mean was) an AST and am hoping I can pick up again at a similar level, but I think I'm deluding myself and I have to have a good think about what will really make all of us happiest- titles and responsibilities might not figure in that!

PreggoK8 · 05/02/2010 10:31

Morning ladies. Thanks for linking Claire
Wow, we are busy ladies at the moment! Lots of moving and holidaying going on, and going back to work. Eek! I'm sure you'll all cope marvellously tho. My only suggestion for packing for a holiday is pack some handwash baby detergent & conditioner and you can always do a wash whilst you're there?
Southern sounds like you?re already doing everything I could think of
Lol Laugs ;)

wook lol at you and your snot sucker. Strangely now though I feel I want one..! Snotty boy here too, had a lovely nappy earlier that was so snotty it was untrue! One way of getting rid of it I suppose.

Well, I didn't get the job disappointed as it was really close to home and so would have balanced the work life thing wonderfully. It was starting earlier than I'd want though so am now going to forget all about working and just enjoy the next few months with Ioan before I have to leave him. Am sure something else will come up nearer the time that's just as perfect... [hopeful emoticon!]
