YEY! Lets meet! I will most likely be DD free, as she is in nursery on Mondays, tuesdays and fridays! But not a problem, means i have more free arms to drink coffee and hold other babies . I can meet wherever is easiest for you to get to scarlotti, so Ikea suit me as i know how to get to it or somewhere else if ninja knows of a great place to drink coffee/eat (eaaaat, that is all i want to do!). I am fine with directions as long as DH is not with me. He said to me 'i hope you don't think i am going to come along' and i said 'you were not invited!!!' cheeky!

Broodzilla · 22/02/2010 14:11

I wrote a long post at 1AM but it's not here...

Was going to say amongst other things that:

Ursi Thank you for the link to mummytummy exercises. I've been doing mine for a couple of days... it's obviously way too early to see or feel results, but it makes me feel better.

Misssease I thought you were Miss Ease or Mis-ease too... Lukas is sleeping in bed next to me. He was grunting and howling every time I put him in the Amby (much like Pav I think probably because he knew he'd get to be near his mama...)

Who said about the 4 month sleep regression? THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was starting to lose faith... I've only in the last 4-5 weeks started to leave Lukas upstairs on his own early evening. (All those weeks before I was going to bed when he did...in hindsight, my anxiety over something bad happening to him was overboard. I was literally watching him CONSTANTLY unless I was asleep too.) Up until 2 weeks ago he'd sleep from about 7PM (on his own) until we went to bed at about 10 or 11PM. I'd feed him and he'd sleep again until 1 or 2, then wake up about 4 and 6. Now, for the last couple of weeks for some reason he goes to bed at 7 and then wakes up every 45 minutes and gets upset...

As of tonight I've asked DH to move into the spare room (he's only just moved back in the bedroom... ) and for this week at least, I'll go to bed with Lukas to see if I can get him to stop this pattern of waking up every 45 minutes as it's not good for him (or me...) ANYWAY - I didn't realize that this is a stage... so thank you. Makes it a bit easier to cope with.

Scarlotti I'm so sorry things are difficult with your (D)H. I hope you find Relate useful. We've been through hell a rough patch at Casa Broodzilla, for similar reasons. I've felt completely on my own, and not having any family around does not help when the only person you should be able to turn to for help is struggling to come to terms with the fact that priorities should shift just a tad. Ie dial back the hobbies and put in some face time at home... Anyway... I remember reading in a magazine while I was pregnant that you should make a pact with DP/DH to not get a divorce for the first 2 years after having a child as it's so life changing that you can't make that sort of a decision with a clear head. Not sure if I agree with that or not, as I can see exactly why the divorce rate skyrockets during the first year after having a child...

Raggie glad you're feeling better!

Broodzilla came about as I registered on MN while starting TTC and also we were about to get married so it covered both.

ursigurke · 22/02/2010 14:20

tried to buy some new tops yesterday as most of my prepregnancy T-Shirts are rather tight (at least now) and not good for bf.
Tried on a couple of things but they all made me look fat! I then realised it's probably because I am I mean I am not really fat, I think I'm almost back to pre pregnancy weight but my shape is not great. My problem was always to have a big belly (and look almost pregnant) but obviously not it is worse. Maybe TTC sooner than later is not a bad idea.

PavlovtheCat · 22/02/2010 14:36

Reuben is asleep on his front on his playmat He is desperate to roll. He was having some tummy time and he is flipping his left leg and his left arm up and his body is rolling just under half way, and it seems it is only lack of strength in his muscles stopping him, he knows what to do. And it wore him out, a minute on his front, and instead of crying, he snuffled the mat and went to sleep. Woke a little dazed and pouty lipped, cuddled, fed, back on, did it for a good 15 mins, then back to sleep. I am half expecting him to wake up and do it! Not feeling to sure about him sleeping on his front, but he is right in front of me and i am checking his breathing every 5 seconds! He looks soooo comfortable in that position!

laugs sorry to hear you are still having a hard time, you are a strong and brave lady i have to say, for perservering so long despite the pain. Well done.

scarlotti i am sorry things are still difficult between you and DH. I hope they improve with Relate support. I wonder too if the newborn stage has a lot to do with it, as DH and I have argued significantly more this pregnancy, and this time with a newborn. To the point were i have wondered if i can cope with it like this much more. But, i am sure it is the time that is difficult for us, it has accentuated the flaws in our relationship, which were already there, but were tolerable, sometimes now they just don't feel so bearable, like no job, the what seems to be lack of support. But you yourself know your relationship with your DH better than anyone. At least you are both prepared to give it a good shot at sorting and not just walking away, that is hard to do in itself i think.

Ebay stuff - i sold my stuff individually, as I deliberately bought 'branded' stuff, like IO and Seraphine, and stuff that would resell well, like Next. But i think the bundles go well together too as long as they are all the same size. Tip is to 'pair' them or make them into outfits - trousers/top/cardi for example.

ursi empire line tops are great for slimming down the belly and showing off big boobs! I have several that fit under the bust and go straight down underneath (unlike maternity ones that sort of flare out), and they are flattering. Ruched tops and layers are also slimming, so for example i wear a black stringy top that covers my belly, then a t-shirt on top that sits just a little higher, then a cardi, it sort of detracts from it, and also helps with breastfeeding when i am out as i just lift the t-shirt and pull down the strap to feed, no showing of flesh.

contraception i have just had the coil removed. After lots of discomfort and continued light bleeding, i went to gp and told her to take a lot (different one to who put it on), it was on its way out having been put in wrong (or, not high enough), and it had got stuck and was digging in! No wonder i felt so sore down below! Now, the coil, a fantastic way to stop getting pregnant, but perhaps not the way they think . That is an experience i shall never go through again that is for sure. Talk about embarrassing, and painful [biush].

misssese · 22/02/2010 14:51

brood love your user name!

I know what you mean about my user name with all the ss's and ee's it does blend into one and make it rather difficult to read especially with the lack of CAPS.
Maybe I should change to Sese?? But dont really mind being miss ease ( as long as I'm not thought as miss easy- this I defiantly am not) Does anyone else feel very unsexy? Think I'm finding it hard to deal with my new body shape! DP says I look exactly the same ( err yeah right but thanks for trying to keep me happy darling!!)

Laugs I feel so sorry for you , its awful being in pain while breastfeeding!! I found it extremely painful for the first 6 weeks and often nearly stopped. I'm not sure if I could have stuck it as long as you have-but at the same time does it make you more determined to carry on as you have got this far?? I hope it gets better for you very soon!!

scarlotti I hope everything works out for you it must be awful feel so unsupported ! You are obviously doing a fantastic job , your children are very lucky to have you!!

brood I like what you said about waiting 2 years to decide! When Pearl was first born me and DP did go through a rough patch and I did question our relationship. I never realised how much having a baby changes the dynamic of your relationship and it is a big shock! Its funny how when people tell you these things before you have you baby, you never think it will happen to you??? Feel very happy now!! He was up with pearl last night for over an hour letting me sleep , then got up with her when she woke early this morning.I feel a bit guilty as he works so hard at work and then gets up during the night!

ursigurke · 22/02/2010 14:55

pav, thanks for the tip. I normally like empire line but I am sometimes worried that it makes my hips and belly look even larger. Actually I had seen some nice ones and not even tried as I thought it is difficult to pull them up. they seem too tight under the bust. Well, I guess, one part of the problem of not finding anything nice is me already hating it because I have to buy practical stuff that I need and not just buying something nice because I want it.

Ninjacat · 22/02/2010 15:15

Ursi I have got properly fat having this baby. I have gone from a 14 to an 18/20 . Even dp has begun to comment. Anyone got any good diet advise?

ursigurke · 22/02/2010 16:23

ninja, as much as I hate to say it but I think the only way is eating less and doing some exercise. At the beginning of the pregnancy I was completely off chocolate and lost 3kg just because of that! So I guess, even if I am bf, I should try to eat less sweets. And doing exercise is probably important too as the problem after pregnancy is not only to loose weight but to get those you have back in shape. It is shocking how much the size of my tummy changes depending how much I breath in or out.

ursigurke · 22/02/2010 16:30

Ah, and my nickname is one I use since a long time online. It has been created by my brother when he helped me to get an icq-account years ago. All normal combinations with my name were taken and this was what he came up with. I can just be sure that it is NEVER taken. It is a combination of a usual nickname for my name and the german word for cucumber... that's how my little brother used to insult me when little. sometimes I even got a "stupid cucumber! In fact, my brother in law uses it sometimes now. He picked me up at the airport with a picture of a cucumber in his hands. I didn't expect anybody to pick me up so when I came out and saw all these papers with names on it and then this one with a cucumber, I just knew it was for me

helips · 22/02/2010 16:40

pav ouch, can't believe they put your coil in incorrectly, hope you feel more comfortable soon.

I'm feeling a bit frumpy at the moment too and have decided to glam myself up by having a treatment on my hair called a permanant blowdry. It will mean my hair is no longer a frizzy mess but instead will be straighter and glossy and lasts up to 3 months, next step is to get fit and lose the tummy!

Helips is a nickname my best friend uses for me, was thinking of changing it to something more exciting but don't want you all to forget who i am!

laugs hope you get to the bottom of the painful feeding, would it help to express for a bit?

scarlotti sorry to hear about your problems with dh and hope you get it sorted soon.

ds has had the sickness bug all weekend and is still not himself today, hope he gets better soon as his constant waking at night is killing me!

maman2tom · 22/02/2010 16:52

Hey all i've been lurking for ages now but never seem to have the time to post... this whole working and having 2 small children is turning out to be bloody difficult!! (well there's a surprise.

Not helped by the fact i seem to be constantly ill-in the last 2 weeks i've hurt the base of my spine, had a frozen shoulder and i'm now on my second tummy bug.

Oh well only 3days to go and i'll be back in the UK to see my mum and dad!!! I am really looking forward i'm still a little girlatheart. Plus obviously a very long shopping list as things are loads cheaper in the UK.

Anyway big hugs all around as i've seen that some of us are not having the best of times at the moment

Oh and the MNname - mine is so original!!

scarlotti · 22/02/2010 17:44

Thanks for all the thoughts ladies, much appreciated.

Ninja and Pav am happy to meet in Ikea, or anywhere else that's easy to get to and has somewhere DS1 can run off some steam. Be great to actually meet you!

Diet wise, Ursi is right really. It's the maths of less calories in than you need to burn I've also found the low carb option to work really well, I've done that at new year and managed to lose half a stone in the month easily.

Am longing for Ioan's cold to go now. Poor chap hasn't slept properly today and it makes him quite grumpy. It's such a shame as he's normally such a sunny boy. He's just dropped off again now, after having to cry for a bit, which isn't ideal but he needs the rest. Today has been quite stressful!

PavlovtheCat · 22/02/2010 18:45

scarlotti Its a shame i probably won't have DD with me, she would love to run around with your DS! ninja do you know of anywhere for the kids to run around? Or is Ikea the best bet? I hope Ioan gets better soon, must be very tiring for both of you.

Reuben has spent the entire afternoon wiggling on his front, he seems to want to bypass rolling and go straight for crawling , he actually managed to spin himself around 180 degrees by pushing with his left leg and arm, was funny to watch! Then he fell asleep again. So cute!

ursigurke · 22/02/2010 19:06

pav, Paula too seems to want to move forward already. Poor girl, I guess that will take a while.

Just read in the Pampers magazine: "For most women, even 2 months after giving birth their stomachs still look wobbly"!!! 2 months??? I guess I should have started earlier on those exercises.

Broodzilla · 22/02/2010 19:33

Well it's 7PM and I'm in bed. Lukas is asleep on me so excuse spelling, can just about reach the laptop...

Laugs sorry if this has been done before (I missed a few weeks) but are you using breastpads? If so, can you do without for a few days? Helped me... also, probioitc drops for you both if you can get hold of them. I've read about rubbing grapefruitjuice on the nipples after each feed (yeast dislikes acid) but can imagine that being a faff, especially having to wash it off before each feed... Does anyone know if Canesten Oral or something similar is ok to take? I don't see why it wouldn't get rifd of trush in boobs if it can elsewhere even taken orally. Also, am sure you know but yeast survives freezing so if you've got any ebm you need to chuck it.

Pav OMG OUCH! Also, thar's very dangerous, I hope you complained?

Ursi, well I'm one 20 weeks post partum and my belly is still soft. About a month ago my stomach muscles were still 4 fingers width apart, now "only" 3... no amount of exercise will sort it out until the muscles are where they're meant to be...

Also I'd love to come along to a Bristol meet up if it's ok witrh you all? THe Ikea cafe also has a children's play area right inside he cafe, with chairs around it so we can sip coffee while the older DCs play. (also, yummy cakes!)

wook · 22/02/2010 19:51

Ursi you always tell it straight and you are absolutely right about eating less and exercising more, such a shame it's so unappealing a message! I keep thinking I am doing fine as I am walking and exercising loads but then eating a bag of jazzies or three fairy cakes when the tiredness hits. Yesterday I did loads of exercise- 40 mins walk, 30 mins swim, 2 hours solid non stop digging on the allotment- then ate three jammy dodgers and a bag of jazzies- stupid!!

Pav that coil sounds awful. I am still using the 'Don't come near me I am a moody cow' method of contraception, it is really effective - 100% so far!

Jealous of meet ups! I live in the wilds of East Anglia. But Scarlotti and Sirboobalot my family are all in Worthing, Sussex and I think that may be near you?

Looking forward to One Born Every Minute again tomorrow, found it quite moving last week as I felt for both Sam and Joy.

wook · 22/02/2010 19:52

Anyone else find that the two month jabs caused baby to poo A LOT??

Broodzilla · 22/02/2010 20:05

Wook same contraception here, same success rate.

Someone on fb was talking about Nutella and now I can't stop thinking about the jar I have in the kitchen. (That's sad on so many levels... because I really am fantasising about Nutella and also, because I really am the sort of person to eat it with a spoon.)

Also... which one of you has just posted from Sydney?! I've been dreading a flight to Scandinavia which is a skip and a hop away! How did you manage to fly all the way to the other side of the world with a little passenger?

Ninjacat · 22/02/2010 20:07

Brood is right Ikea is good for kids and the parking is free.

I live by the docks and have free parking for you also but although there are lots of lovely cafes I can't think of any especially child friendly ones. Lots of outdoor space though.

Laugs big hug for you x

Ninjacat · 22/02/2010 20:09

Bristol City Museum?

skorpion · 22/02/2010 20:17

I would love a meet up... Very jealous and hope you have a lovely time.

maman poor you, hope you get over all this soon. Enjoy your trip to Blighty. How often do you travel back?

pavlov What a sweet picture of your little boy! I suppose I should be putting Lucy on her tummy a bit more as well. So far she does not enjoy it at all. Instead of 'head up' it's more 'bum up' with her

laugs ouch! Will it be another course of treatment do you think?

scarlotti I wish I could do a low carb diet. Seems all I want to eat is bread and cakes at the moment... Well done on the weight loss.

I managed to go out for about an hour yesterday for some solo power walking. Did about three miles with ipod in ears and felt fantastic. Must make it a more regular thing, I feel so starved of excercise all of a sudden - so unlike me! Also it was good to have some time to myself and not work or do laundry (which is what time to myself usually means around here these days).

whoever mentioned feeling unatractive, sorry, don't remember who - same here I feel like something of me is lost somewhere, on the other side of the pregnancy. Like I've changed but not sure how... Definitely not feeling too good about myself, but am hoping that some more excercise will help - yesterday it felt really good and familiar.

Trikken · 22/02/2010 21:03

Skorpion Annabelle does not like lying on her tummy either, she looks so uncomfortable and cries as soon as I put her on her front.

Pav that does sound painful, am hoping you are recovered now.

My MN name is also a variation of my own name, its what my best friend calls me (Vicky to Trixy, then to Trikken.)

scarlotti · 22/02/2010 21:03

Yay Brood, the more the merrier! Let's do Ikea then, sounds like plenty for little people to do and for us to eat Plus then there's always shopping ...
Which day would everyone prefer?

wook Worthing is just down the road so let us know when you're next down here!

Re jabs and poos, we seem to have had an abundance of explosive nappies the last few days. Think it was a combo of 2nd jabs and his cold, seems that's the way babies get rid of their snot

Unattractiveness - felt that way after DS1 and whilst pg. Decided to get new knickers for xmas and some make-up and it seemed to do the trick as I do feel so much brighter in myself. Having said that though, am in the abstinence camp!!

scarlotti · 22/02/2010 21:54

Ioan hates tummy time too .. but he does like being propped up to sit!

VenusInfers · 22/02/2010 21:58

ursi know what you mean about the shape/weight mix up. I'm back to pre-preg weight (thank you breast feeding!) but due to bigger boobs and softer tum I look nothing like how I did before and all my lovely fitted tops just plain don't. Still in many of my preg t-shirts as the looseness makes feeding easy, but REALLY missing putting on my regular clothes. Anyone else fantasizing about getting their old lingere on? I do so like nice bra 'n' knicker sets...

raggie Quiz Team Agueilera! Genius! My old team was called Second To Last because we frequently were.

lemontop That waking pattern sounds bloody awful. Fingers x'd for you that it's over really, really soon.

Incey bit of all you Bristol buddies meeting up in Ikea. I used to live just down the road in 'colourfull' Easton (but in a nice bit; we only had a crack whore and her John arguing outside the house at 3am that one time) and can just picture you all piling in off the M32 and ordering scrummy cake and Lingonberry squash. Looking forward to the post meet news!

brood Always admired that name. v. funny. Agree that first months with newborn are a bit of a strain on any relationship. DH has generally been pretty darn good, but I was impressed that decided to take up a brand new hobby in January. Admittedly he has been on a waiting list for a year to start, and I have been encouraging him to take up a sport, but as I was thinking of his future physical health didn't quite have archery in mind - or it coinciding with the second month of our child's presence. Still, I reckon it gives me license to also go out one night a week and leave LO to him, so scanning the local rag to find a hobby or group for myself!
