I've stopped feeding dd hmm, but still going with ds. 50ft is still feeding, and so are aubergenie and pistachio.

ronshar · 26/02/2010 21:44

HMM I thought I did! One DH is away working, the other is at home looking after their children. Apparently it was the best present she could think off. "The children" being at their mums birthday party.

50ftQueenie · 26/02/2010 21:45

Although I did want to chop it in after a 30 min session at 3am the other morning. She was ill though and is a terrible milk monster.

I find that idea very odd Ronshar. I know for a fact that my mum would love nothing more than to see her grandchildren on her 60th. Balls to seeing us, they eclipsed my brother and I the day they were born! My PIL had a joint 60th celebration in the evening at a ball. Which meant that a) I couldn't go because of M, and more importantly, that the DC couldn't go. DS was gutted!

Hmm - Why do you think it's time to give up bfing? Has P been showing less interest?

I agree with 50ft Ronshar! How bizarre!

I intended to carry on until a few months after she started nursery and it's that time now. I dont want to leave it too much longer cos I think it'll be fairly easy to get her off it at the moment.

Pistachio, Poppy is the same, I only BF her at bedtime now. She sometimes wants a cup of cows milk on top of the BF. I dont think she gets much any more. We give her cows milk if she wakes in the night unless she (rarely) insists on BF.

Honeymoonmummy · 26/02/2010 22:16

Why do you particularly want to keep going till 2? Is it because of the WHO guidance? How long did you go on till last time?

ronshar · 26/02/2010 22:16

HMM have you given any thought as to how you are going to do it?
I found dropping the bedtime feed much easier than the morning one.

I have also now stopped his milk in the evening, as his morning nappy was sodden. All getting ready for the toilet training.

DH family all self centered at the best of times, so I am not shocked by it too be honest.

Ekka · 26/02/2010 22:20

I'm impressed with everyone still bf. I have to admit that over Xmas, when ds stopped showing an interest, I was quite pleased. Mind you, that probably was to do with my ever increasing Dairy Milk cravings

We've had a great day here, dd and ds were both annoying little brats this morning, but one of dd's friends came over unexpectedly this afternoon and we had a fantastic time - he and his mummy stayed till bedtime, so we had all 3 kids in the bath, total chaos, but they had a brilliant time. As dh has worked all the last 3 weekends, I really, really needed the break. I don't think I'd cope very well with being a single mum. Also, dh's work should now be easing up, his blackberry is turned off this weekend, so that is a good start .

Ooh, I'd not even thought of that Ronshar! Is that what you're supposed to do? Do you give him something for supper instead?

I was gonna give her a cup of milk and if she had it and went to sleep then fair enough; if not I'd BF her until she didnt want that too. Does that sound good?

Honeymoonmummy · 26/02/2010 22:31

Sorry Ekka/ Pistachio, X-posts. Good to hear you had a good day Ekka. Pistachio, DH said to me why not carry on if you dont mind doing it (which I dont) but I've now been constipated since I became PG and am hoping that somehow it might get better when I stop BF!!!!! I'm taking senna laxative tablets most evenings, is that bad long-term?

OH and re the PND, I posted the other day that I'd had a bad day and was hoping it was time of month - it was Still on track to be off the pills within a month or two

Good news Pistachio & Hmm.

OP posts:
ronshar · 26/02/2010 22:44

Taking any form of laxative long term is very bad for the bowel. It can lose the ability to contract etc. Called lazy bowel. Lots of old ladies get it because they have been using laxatives for years.
You need to up your fruit intake if poss. & bran as they all help to get the waste moving through the digestive tract.

Pistachio its probably a good idea to give yourself and your body some time off before getting back on the tredmill of pregnancy & babies. Especially if you are likely to get PND again. Not ideal for your family as a whole.

W eats the same as the rest of us. We normally have dinner around 5.30 as DH gets in then. If Dh not in then we eat without him. I give W a small cup of milk before dinner just to make sure he is getting enough Calcium. Other than that he has lots of water during the day.

Honeymoonmummy · 26/02/2010 22:45

Exactly Pistachio. I was originally on 150mg, so I started taking 100mg on alternate nights for 2 weeks, now I'm on 100mg only, then I'll take 100mg one night then 50mg the next night etc etc. I've been on 100mg for nearly 2 weeks now which was the old dose I took which didn't work for me when my PND was bad so fingers crossed...

Honeymoonmummy · 26/02/2010 22:47

Really Ronshar? Oh hell. Do you think BFing could be making it worse? I was mostly OK before I was PG. I could definitely eat more fruit etc but when I've tried that in the last year or so it doesnt seem to have much effect.

50ftQueenie · 26/02/2010 22:49

Oh I forgot to say. I've now lost 2st 4 lbs in total! Not bad eh?!

OP posts:
50ftQueenie · 26/02/2010 22:53

Have you tried taking fiber in capsules Hmm? I find that more effective than eating All bran. My digestion is rubbish and I am sure it is partly due to laxative abuse in my teens. Plus the more you take the less effective they become, you end up needing more and more for them to be effective. Have you tried stopping?

ronshar · 26/02/2010 23:04

50ft thats amazing. You did look alot less curvy (is that ok to say?) I never know what is the right thing to say. I normally end up being quiet so I dont say the wrong thing.

HMM you may need to take a look at your diet as a whole issue and stop/cutdown eating somethings or increase others. It will take a good 6 weeks for your bowel to get back to almost normal. No such thing as a quick fix with diet changes unfortunately.
50ft is the food info queen, as is Pistchio if I remember correctly. I am sure they will guide you in the right direction. To the loo hopefully.

On the crap joke I will go to bed. As I have the bed to myself I am going to make the most of it. I love sleeping on my own in a double. Love it. In fact I may tell DH to stay in France for a bit longer. A lot easier all round

50ftQueenie · 26/02/2010 23:07

at food queen Ronshar but very flattered too. Thank you. Oh and thank you re: looking less curvy. I think it's all gone from my face though! Enjoy the double to yourself. I end up sleeping right on the edge as always even when DH isn't there!

OP posts:
ronshar · 26/02/2010 23:14

Pants. I meant that you are very knowledgeable about food grouping etc etc. You see getting it wrong again.
I on the other hand just eat enough to make me full and I dont care what it is. I finished off the other half of a Dairy milk Whole nut this evening. Very nice. But I know that tomorrow I wont be able to have the other bar in the cupboard. It will have to wait until Sunday

Honeymoonmummy · 26/02/2010 23:39

Blimey 50ft, thats brilliant!! I've only lost about 4lbs in the past month but I'm not bothered cos if I lose much more i'll be too small for my new suits and I dont want to buy more when I'm hoping I'll be PG again in the near future...

I forgot about that book you got me 50ft, I'll have a look at that. Am bit concerned about teh laxative thing now, the doc just told me to take them, didnt tell me not for long. I'll stop taking them for a bit, they dont really do much good anyway TBH, maybe for the reason you said 50ft.

I stayed up to watch Johnny Depp. Why does someone so beautiful try to make himself look so ugly??? I'm off to bed anyway. Night all!
