grrrr I booked tix online to see a special age 1-2 performance of goldilocks and the 3 bears at wimbledon polka theatre this week and was just sent an email that they are fully booked and no more space and given a refund for my ticket purchase
Why did they sell it to me in the first place?
I'm glad Q isn't old enough to have been looking fwd to it and be disappointed! But I'm disappointed... does that count?
It sounded really cool. Was tailored for 1-2 y olds and lasted 30 minutes / was interactive. And we'd go for a little lunch and window shopping in wimbledon village afterward. bummer. Oh well it would be a lot to fit in with seeing the cm as well I guess.

HMM- I know how you feel. I feel the same when I leave J though having a Wednesday off does ease things a little bit but I have a feeling I'll be asked to do 5 days again come Sept as that was the wobbly agreement made last year. I drop J off at 7.45 and despite working in a school still don't usually manage to collect him until 5.15. I try to feel less guilty by reminding myself that since I've been back at work I've felt more myself and happier in myself so am therefore a better a mummy to J, that working allows us to provide J with a nice lifestyle and that he loves Nursery and is so entertained there. We also try to make sure that we do lots of fun things at the weekend and just dedicate the whole time to J. I have found being back at work this term a bit easier and the guilt has lessened. I'm also trying, like KSAL said, to be quite ruthless workwise and leave earlier. On Monday I left at 4, a load of paperwork on the desk and a million things I could have done, but I thought f*ck it I'm having an extra hour with J and it was fab. Remember you are doing your best for Poppy and all of you and enjoy your 2 days next week!

ARGGGGGHHHHHH!!!! BLOODY Ikea. I HATE their stupid crappy furniture. I have just completely split a piece of wood trying to follow their utterly common-senseless instructions. And of course DH makes the situation 100 times worse by telling me he's sure it can be fixed when I called to tell him it was fucked. Oh right, I forgot he possessed the power to mend shatter wood with his bare hands. Bearing in mind the fact that I am the one who has to talk to plumbers, electricians etc & also the one who has to make most of the Ikea furniture because DH is sooooo bloody useless. Yes I'm sure he can mend splintered wood. GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!! If you EVER hear me say or see me write that we are going to Ikea please slap DH me hard.

I meant shattered wood, obviously. The red mist compromised my grammar!

I was just out for a walk with Q and it was "snowing" but it felt like tiny white ice balls

Very short meeting with the cm today. Tomorrow I have to leave him for a half hour

StarExpat · 10/02/2010 12:32

oh I do not like IKEA furniture either. We have a lot of it in our living room and I just can't stand it. I do love to go now, though, with Q as he just loves going in and out of all of the little rooms, testing out the sofas and coffee tables and beds and kitchens... It's seriously his disney world at the moment! We don't go often... must keep it a novelty
I think everyone should go to 50ft's on sunday

CantSleepWontSleep · 10/02/2010 12:40

Dh managed to assemble our lovely new playroom storage from ikea no problem , and he's usually mr useless on the diy front.

We can't go on sunday star - it's dd's birthday party!

StarExpat · 10/02/2010 13:24

My dh is very handy with diy. He recently made a lovely mirror. I'll post a photo of it on my mob uploads on fb in a minute. That's one thing he's good at... searching for others...

50ftQueenie · 10/02/2010 13:25

Ah, but that particular unit is amazingly easy to assemble CSWS. We've got the smaller one in DS's bedroom. I made the Billy bookcases in the front room on my own and they're fine. The tried and tested items are still good it's the newer stuff that tends to be crappola.

Myjob - It's been snowing on and off all day here too. Eeeek! Looking at the weather forecast it looks like it will snow today, stop tomorrow and then snow again on Friday.

CantSleepWontSleep · 10/02/2010 13:35

lol 50ft - a friend who had done it before and is usually very good at that sort of stuff told him that it was hardest thing she'd ever had to put together from ikea!

50ftQueenie · 10/02/2010 13:39

Really!? Oh well. Maybe I've done it wrong then. I used to enjoy putting the furniture together but not anymore. My mum and I have always been responsible for assembling the Ikea stuff. The men-folk in my family are useless at it. My dad is very good at DIY and could re-wire a room with no real problem but he just can't do Ikea furniture! Maybe your DH's honorary woman status aided him when building it! Having said that, my DH is much more of a big girly than Mr CSWS.

StarExpat · 10/02/2010 14:01

We have the smaller version of your storage unit csws and use it as a bookcase but we're soon getting rid of it for something smaller. We found it ok to put together.

I'm so tired, not sure why I'm not napping while Q does...

StarExpat · 10/02/2010 14:03

I'm tired because Q is still not sleeping well at night. Maybe I should just let him have a permanent place in our bed.

Ooooo I should have watched that while M was napping. Damn! I don't think I can cope with tiny babies at the moment as that advert that keeps running on here with the tiny newborn yawning is making me really broody. They're so yummy

StarExpat · 10/02/2010 14:16

aw I do love tiny babies, too Don't want to keep having them, though, as they don't stay tiny for very long. When we were at the preschool yesterday and Q was among all those 2 year olds, he looked so tiny there

DS has single handedly managed to put me off children again. Hurrah and boo for him! He's been awful this evening, really really annoying. I could have throttled him: winding his sister up, running around making stupid noises, answering back etc etc. Grrrrr.

It's very quiet on here today. We've had a little bit of snow but not the masses we were warned about. M has managed to bugger up BBC Weather on my Mac so it will only show the 24 hour forecast not the five day forecast.

Send O over here. Dh would love to have another playmate to be annoying and noisy with.
I don't see how your ds could possibly be annoying, 50ft. I didn't get to see him much at Ronshar's as all the "big kids" seemed to entertain themselves quite well, but he's still cute as ever

When does that happen? (what age) When they no longer want you to play with them but want to go off on their own with friends or other children?

50ftQueenie · 10/02/2010 20:22

It depends on the child I guess. DS still loves us to play but would prefer to play with other children if they are around. Hmmm.... probably around the age of three for DS. Before that he would play with other kids but only in a particular setting, he would prefer to be with us most of the time.

I shall film ds one day Star, you will see just how terrible he can be!
