Yes, thanks to you and your family for all being such a wonderful hosts Ronshar! I hope you're putting your feet up with a very large glass of wine now.

It was lovely to meet everybody at last (well I know, not everybody but some of you at least). We got home at 6.45. S fell asleep on the way to the station then slept in his buggy for about an hour and a half an has just gone to bed now.

He had such a great day that he didn't have any mi;k all day. A first for him (except when I'm at work and he can't ask for it obviously.

Sorry you didn't get a good reception when you got home Star. Q did really well considering he's poorly ^and* teething.

CantSleepWontSleep · 07/02/2010 21:45

S obviously took pity on you so saved you from having to flash your tights at everyone in your funky dress aubergenie .

Can I also say thank you to all the bakers for providing all those lovely cakes . I just couldn't choose between them, hence having to sample them all . I did love those lemon drops especially. They will have to go on my list of ones to make.

StarExpat · 07/02/2010 21:56

Ronshar, your DD1 was absolutely lovely! As were your DD2 and W - I just expected a stroppy pre-teen from your posts previously

Ekka I enjoyed the lovely hair stroking from your DD Precious!

I need to make those lemon drops, too! Would it be possible to make it as a regular cake not as cupcakes?

Q screamed when we put him down to bed... for 45 minutes. Then screamed some more after we tried soothing him... he cuddled in bed with me for a bit, then screamed again. he's arching his back and screaming and sometimes shoving his hands in his mouth like he was today so that tells me he might "just" be teething... dh let him get out of his cot... he ran around for a while, made the sign for food, so we gave him some bread and he had some milk. Just tried to do whole bedtime routine again and he's now still screaming! This is absolutely out of the ordinary. He's truly screaming. But if we pick him up, he just still screams and arches his back and makes it impossible to hold him! I want to go to bed now!!

Hey guys, sounds like you all had a lovely day

50ft, congrats on the weight loss!

Poor Q Star, if he's arching his back could it be trapped wind? Do you have any gripe water?

Poppy has had 4 - yes 4- back teeth coming through at once for the last month or so Poor love.

I am really busy at work and it will probably continue for a few weeks yet but TBH I'm absolutely LOVING it! Doing an investigation where I'm doing the interviewing on my own with the client so I'm in my element! I was gutted today tho cos I wanted to spend the day with Pops and ended up spending 5 hours on a report.

Right, I've done all my ironing, so I'm off to bed. Night all!

Honeymoonmummy · 07/02/2010 22:29

X-posts Pistachio! [waves] Congrats on the B!

Forgot to say 50ft, have you had your hernia op yet?

50ftQueenie · 07/02/2010 22:36

Hmm - I haven't even been to the doctor about it yet...... Don't tell anyone..... My doctor's is about 2 miles away the walk back is all uphill PLUS they never have any advance appointments.

Also ronshar - how do you get W to stay in his bed at bedtime and when he wakes in the night? Does he not just climb out and wander around? I'd like to convert Q's cot into a bed but not sure about that part

ronshar · 08/02/2010 11:32

Thank you ladies for a lovely day yesterday.
I do have to confess that it was DH who did the catering not me. But the veg were very nicely peeled by MrCSWS & DH then thrown in a roasting tin with some olive oil and pepper. Make sure you get your hands in and mix up all the veg in the oil. Seasame seed over the top is lovely also.

Star in answer to your question. Some days W will get in to bed and stay there, other days he gets out quicker than I can get out of the room. It can be lots of rapid return.
We do shut his bedroom door or he just wonders out with a big grin as if everything is normal. When we go to bed I open it up so when he wakes in the morning he comes in to us me and wakes me up by smashing me over the head with what ever he has picked up on his travels!!!

Oh and Star, DD1 was back to normal this morning by kicking DD2 in the hip and then not noticing that W had followed her outside and she locked him out. I just happened to see this little tatty haired monster walking past the front garden wall, which I quickly realised was W. So she got two tellings off before 8am

Pistachio. A C isnt rubbish, but a B is better Well done.

StarExpat · 08/02/2010 11:43

that would have killed me to see Q walking around outside locked out. Q now knows how to open and close all of our doors, so it might not work for us yet. Maybe we'll wait until we can sell and buy a bigger place. Stupid bad market!

Your house has plenty of space, myjob
I would offer, but I'll wait until we move to a bigger place as it's really not enough space.
Would be happy to go to Ekka's, too - I don't think she's far from me...
So happy to be on half term holiday this week!! yay! Q had a horrible horrible night, waking often screaming.
HMM could it be trapped wind at this age still? I thought he had "outgrown" that but it seems possible...
He's fine this morning. A little bit fussy, but not horrible.

ronshar · 08/02/2010 12:12

I will drive to your house Myjob. I may be gatecrashing your meet next week. If you dont mind that is. I didnt give 50ft much choice to be honest. I'm not even sure she thought it was a good idea
Just be out when we get there. I can take the hint

Star, my stomach dropped to the floor. W thought he was fab. Big grins whilst running away as usual.

Teacher ladies I have a question. DD2 has a stammer which appears to be getting worse. I feel shit because I have looked it up this morning and so far it seems that most of it could be my fault. Talking too fast, her having to stretch up to see my face, not giving her enough time etc.
My question is how do you deal with it in school, as teachers, or have you not had this problem before?
I have no idea how to deal with it.
Arm hanging off, no problem.
Stammer no idea.

Argh! The snow is back! Stupid weather.

ronshar - Don't be silly, of course you are welcome. If I seemed hesitant it was only because I couldn't remember when we had decided to go out somewhere, when we're staying in, whether anything has actually been arranged at all yet..... I'm crap, I never remember what's going on!

OP posts:
50ftQueenie · 08/02/2010 13:58

I'm getting a bit concerned about this snow business. According to the weather forecast it's going to snow ALL week down here, heavily on Friday night.

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 08/02/2010 14:12

Snow is no suprise here - it always snows on dd's birthday! It's not sticking here though, and has stopped for the time being.

Aargh - gotta go - knew that dd's eye looked funny today, but have just got back from dropping her at school only for them to call and say that they think she's got conjunctivitis and I need to go and get her back, and she can't return until 24 hrs after it's gone -aaarrrghhhh!

Got drops to put in her eyes. Dr says that she has to miss school tomorrow , but should be ok to go back on Wedns.

No idea re stammer sorry.

StarExpat · 08/02/2010 20:26

I'll chat with a friend and colleague who is a speech language therapist at school to see about things you could do to help dd2 at home, Ronshar - unless someone else comes along with a great idea. Children in my class who have had a stammer have overcome it with speech and language therapy. From what I understand, children can develop a stammer for a variety of reasons... but... if it were because of all of those things that you mentioned... wouldn't dd1 have a stammer then as well?
Parents are so quick to blame themselves! It's not your fault and it can be helped. I'll ask for some basic exercises you can do at home with her. I remember going over them with the SLP and a parent last year but can't recall exactly so will check with her instead.
Fwiw, I didn't notice it at all yesterday, although, I didn't hear her speak all that much over all of the toddler noise

CantSleepWontSleep · 08/02/2010 20:36

Actually I'm sure that there's a SALT or two on here - is moondog one?

50ftQueenie · 08/02/2010 20:41

Moondog is scary, that much I do know!

OP posts:
StarExpat · 08/02/2010 20:43

haha, sorry, SLP is an american term I guess. speech/language pathologist. Sorry
And pistachio - lol at thinking talking fast will make them think quicker! That's excellent. Who knows? It might! You are not doing your children any harm by speaking quickly.

StarExpat · 08/02/2010 20:44

who is moondog?
