Oi! Over 'ere!

I'm using my sick leave well and have just booked a holiday in Oban - we're going to see Balamory and sea eagles, hopefully.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Judd · 05/12/2005 17:37

Nope. But give yourself a pat on the front!

Bozza · 05/12/2005 21:32

Well we had 19 hours off from the children. But I am still tired from my late night. Susi it seems so funny to be reading about another Caitlin on this thread. If I was DD I would get all huffy about it because thats what she does. She has been quite moody today but I have been putting a lot of it down to tiredness. And I must remember to hide her favourite cardigan before I go to bed - she can't wear it for a third day in a row.

kbaby · 06/12/2005 19:56

DD is starting to be clingy. It seesm to be against DH. When he gets in from work she clings to me and wont go anywhere near him. Ive tried to tell him that he gets home too late and then wants to bath her etc which she doesnt want then to top that off because shes tired she strops and is naughty which means he tells her off so she doesnt want to be wth him.
Since she had a cold last week shes also waking twice a night now. Once at 12 and I give her 2ozs milk but then she wakes again at 1am and then cries until 3am ish. Once we go into her she starts talking etc. I dont think theres anything wrong but maybe shes got into the habit of waking again. The only thing I can think is that she has gone off all her food, she used to be a good eater, and that maybe shes hungry at night.

WhenPonkaGotStuckUpTheChimney · 06/12/2005 21:49

Yes, Susi. DH has been reduced to tears twice this week because of DS' clingyness. He feels very unloved. He knows it's just a phase but still finds it upsetting. He tried to get up with him on Sunday morning to give me a bit of a break and also to see if we can get him to be a little less clingy in preparation for our next little boy's arrival but all he got was full on crying and shouts of "Mummy " and "No- no!". We tried to persevere bt after 3/4 hour, we couldn't take any more so he went to bed and I took over. He played up terribly for the rest of the day. I'm also wondering when/if this gets better.

Bozza · 06/12/2005 22:05

Ah just you wait until you have a 2yo and you do something really terrible like try to put their coat on at the end of toddler group and in front of the entire room they start sobbing "daddy, daddy" as if their heart will break.

DD was actually trying to be clingy to both DH and I after her stay at her grandparents. It was hard work because we kept doing naughty things like going to the loo or going in the kitchen to make a drink and she really couldn't decide who she wanted. I do think second babies tend to be less clingy but then to counteract that we have a big jealousy thing and if DS sits on my lap DD goes mad, cries, tries to push DS off and says "knee, knee". DS then does the same thing and it drives me mad.

littlestarofbethlibbhem · 07/12/2005 12:40

hello everyone! How are you all?

Wow, it has been so long since I posted here but I am glad to see we are going strong. Kbaby, hope things are okay for you. I am thinking of you. Cat, great news about Keira! Hi Helsy, was nice to see you when I lurked the other day. Spots, Reuben has been the same - very tired, grumpy and generally not right. I think I also hear the rumble of the terrible twos! Hello to everyone else. Welcome izzybiz - please don't tell me that you were also in the Rosie on the 14th May too!

He is doing fine and doesn't seem to mind the toing and froing between ex and I - although he has more maturity than the pair of us! Being civil is hard work sometimes but we try our best. Reuben and I have both settled into the new house and he didn't bat an eyelid from day 1. I am very proud of him.

On the whole we are doing fine, although I had a small wobble the other day when I asked him to give mummy a kiss and he kissed the childminder instead. Thankfully I get all the Mwahs now and my name is officially "Bum". I also get my nose picked, followed by a proper examination to check all is clear (not sure where he learnt that from! one of the other darlings at the childminders I daresay!)

Had better go but I will try to keep up with you all as much as I can - I miss having a home computer . . .

Love to you all xxx

Bozza · 07/12/2005 14:33

Lovely to hear from you Libb. . You have cheered me up after getting into work 2 hours late this morning because of somebody falling off a bridge onto the M1. So I have two hours work to make up which is exceptionally difficult, especially with DH so busy at the moment. Fortunately he will be back from Glasgow in time to bring up the kids so I can do a bit of it tonight.

Rueben sounds as if he is doing brilliantly. Although I do find that these 18 month olds are very easily corrupted by older children. We get nose picking among other things as well. DS just decided to do it at the end of the nativity play when all the parents had their cameras out.

spots · 07/12/2005 18:18

hooray for Libb! love;y to hear from you. Sounds like everything is moving on anyway even if it's hard work sometimes. bloody brilliant, well done you. xxx

Bozza · 08/12/2005 09:34

at my little rant there. Everything back to normal here.

deckthehelswithboughsofhelsy · 08/12/2005 19:58

Helloooooo. We're still going, then. When do we stop? 18th birthdays?
We have teeth! The back ones, all coming at once! Going through dentinox like nobody's business and she's off her food, finding it hard to stay asleep, red bum, the lot. Poor sausage. I was off with her today which was lovely.

I foolishly offered to organise a Christmas party for people in our area and now wish I hadn't bothered - I'm not a a natural organiser and now I'm panicking about what if someone's child eats food someone else has bought and is ill, will I be liable because I've organised it? Not that I'm a natural worrier or anything

Nice to hear from you Libb! Reuben sounds like a star. We moved when dd1 was 18 months and she screamed every night we put her to bed for about a month.

Dd2's words are just pouring out now, two together sometimes. It's lovely. Nursery say she's always in the book corner. If I tell her I'm going to change her nappy she bends her knees and says "pooh!" whilst holding her nose.

Anyone know if lo-salt is ok for babies and toddlers?

kbaby · 09/12/2005 17:20

Helsy Im not sure about the salt sorry.

Weve started CC and its horrible. She wakes and cries non stop for 2 hours, shouting for mummy(which is heartbraking)she really loses her temper and bangs the rails on her cot etc.
We are all so tired from the lack of sleep. I hope it improves soon.

egypt · 11/12/2005 10:56

did you watch tiny tearaways this week kbaby on bbc3? broke our hearts watching this little girl of 2, being put to bed again and again and left to cry until she tucked herself in and finally went to sleep. she did it in the end and although not cured by the end of the week, dramatically improved and sleeping without her dummy for the first time ever. stick with it. xxx

great to hear from libb and cat too, sounds like you're all doing great.

fine here, dd enjoying my mum this week, although she's going home today. dh has been away most of the week working, and this weekend in skeggy golfing! (with my dad amongst others). what can my christmas name be?!!!!!

christmastreegypt · 11/12/2005 10:58

maybe?

kbaby · 12/12/2005 22:55

DH wont let me watch tiny tearaways as he said he has enough of DD crying let alone watching someone elses on the tv cry.

Well good news I had my scan today and they found the baby with a gorgeous beating heart.

deckthehelswithboughsofhelsy · 13/12/2005 14:03

Oh, Kbaby that's fantastic news! I've been so worried - you must be chuffed
How many weeks are you now?

Curmudgeonlett · 13/12/2005 14:05

helsy .. lo-salt is not good for anyone .. it has been researched as potentially carcinogenic

best to limit salt by not adding it at all

I'm so broody (Twiglett here)

Bozza · 13/12/2005 14:10

Fantastic news kbaby. you must be so relieved.

spots · 13/12/2005 22:22

That is great kbaby.

deckthehelswithboughsofhelsy · 14/12/2005 21:04

Thanks Twiglett - I don't use salt, but nursery told me they put lo-salt in the children's food and I'm worried - I've actually just emailed them about it and await a reply.
We've just been for a drive round a local estate that has all the lights up for charity, and both dds were ecstatic. Dd2 just kept shouting "star!"all the time.
Everyone finished shopping then?

WhenPonkaGotStuckUpTheChimney · 15/12/2005 14:00

That's great, Kbaby!

Christmastreegypt is good. I can't think of anything else. It's a hard one.

I can't believe it but we have very nearly finished shopping...... apart from all the food, that is. Even DH is on top of things this year.

DS loves the lights too. We've got a lot of houses down one end of our road that seem to be in competition with each other and get sillier each year. DS can just about make it there and back on foot so it's become a bit of a late afternoon ritual to go and see them. I bet the people in the houses are fed up with us standing outside their houses staring and pointing!

You can hardly notice our Christmas tree this year. It's tiny and hidden away in the corner of the lounge wedged behind the sofa so that DS can't get his mitts on it. All our decorations are very high up this year. Last year he couldn't get anywhere still but this year's a different matter

deckthehelswithboughsofhelsy · 17/12/2005 18:49

I saw three egypts sailing by?

kbaby · 18/12/2005 20:54

Thanks everyone. Theyve put me a week behind what I thought I was so im approx 8+1, 9+3 was so much better. just have tiredness and sickness to keep me occupied now.

Ive done all my xmas shopping(SMUG EXPRESSION). DH still hasnt bought anything yet. Im doing the food shop on Wednesday and have to post the xmas cards one day.

DD saw Santa today and disliked him. She cried and went bright red. Its quite funny though because if you say 'Whats Santa bringing you' she replies 'Toys, Good Girl'

Were still doing CC! Its getting better and weve actually had 2 nights straight through and 2 8.30 lay in's.

Snowindippity · 22/12/2005 13:14

StarofEgypt?(sorry extremly busy so no time to post properly but can never resist ceimbo names )

christmastreegypt · 23/12/2005 15:20

hi everyone, thanks for your names suggestions, but i'm sticking with christmastreegypt because i can't be *rsed to change.

That is great news kbaby, so pleased all is fine, even if you are a week behind what you thought. think of it as an extra week to spoil your little dd before you have 2 to think of.

Meyy Christmas to you all, though! DD is being an angel, appropriately for the time of year. Sleeping very well (sorry kbaby) and napping for a couple of hours in the afternoon. hmmmm

all ready for christmas. dh's mum and stepdad are coming over, - tomorrow it seems. i guess i'll be the one ran ragged, cooking, organising whilst she tried to amuse dd, and dh and step d are down the pub in the morning. grrr. we'll see.

Have a good'un everyone.

Twiglett, i know i am thick, but i don't get your name?!?! someone?
