Oi! Over 'ere!

I'm using my sick leave well and have just booked a holiday in Oban - we're going to see Balamory and sea eagles, hopefully.

Sorry meant to ask Bozza, does that mean they do lose their first molars? I have been wondering this but not enough to look it up!

egypt · 25/08/2005 17:56

i think they lose all their teeth dont they? oh dear, not too good on this subject. dd has her PRE molars in. And yes, she picks out the onions to eat.

we are in pyjamas, although, it's still a bit too warm, so just wearing the long sleeved tops, no bottoms and a summer gro-bag. have a few shorts/short sleeved pairs too. you can buy those all-in-ones that are short legged and short sleeved spots, if you cant find big enough babygrows. we have some babygrows for 18-24 months in the drawer though, awaiting use. so they must go that big somewhere. mind you, what does your dd weigh? dd is 23lb something.

egypt · 25/08/2005 17:58

oh and thanks for asking, but dh is still off work. he's laid out on the lounge floor, taking it all up, in front of the cricket, meaning he has to take work calls, at which point i have to drag noisy dd into the hall. and she cant watch cbeebies! not on! think i shall banish him back to the spare room tomorrow. he's no better, but has seen a physio and it's aparently spinal. on more drugs and is 'feeling a lot better' (words of 10 mins ago). it won't last.

spots · 25/08/2005 18:47

let me know where you got your 18-24 month suits Egypt! I think DD would fit those now; it's not that she's huge (not sure of her weight) but as a cloth nappy wearer esp. at night her bottom is hippo sized.

DH situation sounds a bit dire; you are a soldier!

cat82 · 25/08/2005 19:08

Hello everyone,

We have a warm house!!! The central heating is all fitted at last, but overran by 2 days so that's why i've not been about

I know it's delayed but it was soooo lovely meeting everyone who came to the meet up!
Spots- thanks loads for the CD, what a lovely thought

Egypt- poor you, you're going through it at the mo aren't you? Hope DH feels better very soon. Can't believe you're trying for no 2 as well!! Feeling quite left out now!

Spots- at the mo Kiera is just wearing a nappy and a summer gro bag for bed because it's been quite warm. She has pjyamas for lunchtime nap and sleep suit for night sleep when it's chilly (i have a crazy notion pj's/ sleep suit and different times will help her know when it is "nap" time or "proper sleep" time )

Foodwise oooh god nightmare-still She fights me every step of the way with EVERYTHING. Finger foods are thrown, spoons are thrown, if i hold a spoon it gets hit...i could go on. It really gets me down soemtimes, but i am desperatly trying to cling to the hope that one day she will just START eating..... {desperate emicon}

Anyway, Excitment in the Cat household at the mo, we pick up my baby boy- Spook- on Saturday! He is the most gorgeous, delicious Weimaraner. We saw a pic of him today for the first time after he and his brothers and sisters was "personality assessed". The verdict is that he is laid back, calm and perfect for a family, i am getting sooo excited now

I will sign in tomorrow to catch up. Lots of love to all

Cat xxx

egypt · 25/08/2005 19:20

sounds vvveeeeeeeeeeery exciting cat!

if you can bear it, could you just present dd with her lunch and just let her get on with it. it's messy, but if she starts to enjoy playing with it, she may start to enjoy eating it. bit of a dr tanya byron thing i know, but it might work. perhaps whilst its warm (!?) sit her highchair outside.

i think the babygros are disney from tesco, but i'll have to look tomorrow as dd is in bed. although not asleep......... again......

egypt · 26/08/2005 10:26

sorry, i lied. they are actually bodysuits. so, i don't know if you can get babygros after all. sorry!

anybody seen anywhere i can get some nice cream/ivory shoes for dd, suitable for a bridesmaid. mothercare are useless, none in our mothercareworld, nor on their website. i dont know where else to try. obv not some extortionate bridal shop.

Bozza · 26/08/2005 22:05

Monsoon/Accessorise? Next? BHS? Think they might be with the christening stuff.

Egypt sorry about DH still being badly. Cat sounds exciting Spots we are on short pjs at the moment. Think babygros would be slippery on the hard floors for DD. But with the weather as it is today I think we are heading towards long pjs - went into Asda yesterday and there were none in the right size.

Had a busy day today. Had our hair cut and lunch at my friend's house this morning then went to Blackpool to meet my Mum, two sisters and nephew. DS and DD enjoyed it but it was cold and DD seemed quite determined to throw herself off the pier into the sea - I had to really hold her back. Got home at 8.45 with two sleeping children which I had to put to bed myself, then bring the washing in in the dark, empty the car, put it in the garage and DH's on the drive and unpack the Asda shop which had been delivered because DH is poorly. I've just been on the internet banking and thought I'd drop in here.

Oh update - DD ate two slices of pear last night.

spots · 27/08/2005 08:10

Feel like it's really early morning today because DH has been letting me lie in while he gets DD up. But today I felt I ought to get up with her instead!

Cat, think Spook is such a gorgeous name for your dog; they are lovely greyish colour aren't they? Does he have a mad pedigree name too?

All roll your eyes at this pushy mummy: DD did a pee in her potty last night! She has two year old friends whom she's seen using one so I just bought her one to play around with. But last night she was without a nappy , and DH and I kept saying 'No pee on the floor, pee on the potty! Pee on the potty!' She sat on it a couple of times saying 'pee, pee' and then she did one! We were impressed. Not that we're expecting any more really,I'm not actually not potty training her yet but it would be great not to have two in nappies at the same time and you hear these stories about potty training 18 month olds...

Bozza · 27/08/2005 14:00

Its possible Spots. My friend potty trained her DS (so a boy too) before he was 2 - maybe 21 months and I know another boy the same age as DS who was trained at 18 months. DS was 2.2 but I'm hoping DD will be at bit earlier, being a girl and having DS to watch. We've got the potty out because she's taken to sitting on them at other people's houses but she seems to feel the need to put her foot in it all the time....

egypt · 28/08/2005 10:38

wow! well done spots. dd can says 'bum' when she does a poo, but i dont think she recognises doing a pee yet. my mum says both my sister and i were dry at 18 months! i'll check that with her though, as she is here now. maybe she means she started training then. my aunty started her boys at one!!!!! but it took a few months...obviously.

your dh sounds great spots. what a star. must admit, dh is feeling better today. seen an osteopath privately and all that the docs and physios were saying was wrong. making it worse in fact. it is a vertebrae in his neck, and it literally has gone back into place after seeing this guy. amazing bloke. hence dh is 'trying' to play a few holes of golf today. {rolls eyes}

kbaby · 28/08/2005 20:58

Bozza, DD had all 4 molars come through about 2 weeks ago. They did cause a week of sleepless nights, she must have the pre molars though, 12 teeth in total

DD has been awake most nights this week. She wakes and plays in her cot for a while between crying out occasionally. She keeps playing her llulaby on the side of her cot. It keeps her ammused but dont half get on your nerves at 2am.We dont know why she is waking so much. We are soo tired.
Shes also been accident prone today. We had fall off the back of a settee in mfi, then fell off the back step face first, fell off a chair(shes learnt climbing) on to patio and then finally to top it all off DH was carrying the lawn mower and didnt realise she was next to him and swung it around. The poor thing her face has little red dots in a diamond pattern from a rubber mat by the back step.
Ive still been putting dd in sleepsuits as I prefer them. Pyjamas seem so grown up.

Bozza · 28/08/2005 21:47

Yes kbaby they will be the pre-molars. DD got them and then got the canines and so has 16 teeth with the molars at the back still to come. DD also had an accident today. Fell off the top step at the front door (we have four steps each a flag width wide and about a foot (4 bricks) high so quite big steps. She has lumps on both sides of her head and her eye. I was the one who was supervising and just took my eye of her while talking to my friend and unlocking the door.

Egypt can go one better than you - according to my Mum (who btw has a notoriously bad memory) I was daytime trained by 12 months!

Went shoe shopping yesterday (on my own - DH still apparently poorly - actually Egypt you will agree with me he must have been genuinely rough because he didn't play golf) and got DS school shoes (£36 ) and DD proper shoes even though she's been walking two months (£25). They'd both gone up a full size .DD was playing out this morning and I found an old pair of DS's wellies (red and very cute) for her to wear to try and preserve the shoes a little.

spots · 29/08/2005 20:40

Bozza and Egypt do ask your mothers what the trick is!? But of course it was prob. because you are both so naturally scrupulous in your habits I think ours was a one off but I'm not beyiond coonsidering a little encouragement if it looks like a possibility.

Friends of ours were round today looking at the property upstairs from us which is on the market. They have a wee boy 4 months younger than DD. It would be mad to have them upstairs! DD of course would be chuffed to bits.

Also took her to Mucky Pups this morning but she was a bit young, though she enjoyed her first splodge with a paintbrush. She has a wicked energy today. Later she snipped a hole in her top with some scissors! Talk about off-the-ball mummy. . It was an I Love Mummy top...

Bozza · 29/08/2005 21:05

Spots there is absolutely no point in asking my mother what happened last week, let alone 31 years ago! I think its the usual case of terry nappies, twin tub, no tumble dryer, pregnant with my sister (17 months younger than me), couldn't drive so didn't get out much so spent loads of time with me sat on the pot. And I was apparently fairly placid (read lazy) so probably just sat there. OTOH I didn't apparently didn't say a word until I was 17 months and my sister came home from hospital so was a bit behind there.

Well we had a bad night. DD woke up at 12.15 with a raging temp. Because of her banging her head we were concerned although also wondering if she'd caught DH's bug. So in the end we rung NHS Direct about 12.45 and they reassured me and said just to check on her every couple of hours. Well seen as how she didn't sleep that long all night no problem. She ended up in with me and DH on the settee and she was really restless. Has had a temp all day and off colour although we have been able to get the temperature down and her to perk up with calpol. She went down OK though at 7.30 and have not heard her although I checked her and she was very warm. If she still has the temperature tomorrow I think I will have to get her to the doctors in case of ear infection etc. I'm hoping she will sleep it off.

egypt · 30/08/2005 09:51

oh dear, bozza. hope your dd is feeling better today.

i quizzed my mum and she said that we were both dry during the day at 18months. also, with me, it was 'that hot summer of '76' and she let me run around all day without a nappy on - or anything really. there were a few accidents, but in general i was about dry. not sure when the night times came. she didnt use a potty, being stubborn as she is, went straight to the toilet. my sister simply said at about 18 months, 'kirsty wee wee' and sat on the loo and that was it! dry!!! (copying big sister of course). there is 3 years between us.

egypt · 30/08/2005 09:52

i meant my mum didnt use a potty with us! she may well have done herself!

spots · 30/08/2005 12:31

LOL Egypt. We were at toddlers this morning and a 2 year old wet herself (well, her mum's knee actually ) There was SO MUCH OF IT! It just kept streaming out and the mum was going, 'No, No! Stop! Stop!' helplessly. Hope DD is dry by the time her bladder has that sort of capacity.

Bozza, poor old DD. Hope she feels better over the course of the day.

Bozza · 30/08/2005 21:30

Spots. DD slept until 4.30 and then woke every half hour until 6.30 but her temperature had gone. Went to York for a day out (inc. railway museum) and she was fairly grumpy (think overtired)most of the day. Wouldn't eat lunch and has hardly touched her tea. But after tea and in the bath was in a great mood. She now seems to be constipated. We were hoping to go to Warwick Castle tomorrow but will have to see what morning brings.

Prufrock · 30/08/2005 21:58

I've found the yellow cube

It was in the big toybox - although I had already checked in there. DD had everything out of it today because she'd lost half her green egg and it turned up.

M&S definatley do big sleepsuits because dd (3.4) is still in them

cat82 · 31/08/2005 08:30

Hi everyone!

My puppy is sooooo gorgeous!!! He is currently sleeping and looking all cute in his bed.
Toilet training is going ok and he seesm to be ok with Kiera tho he can get boisterous at times, and he frightened Prufrocks dd and ds to death yesterday- Sorry about that

Kiera is eating nothing at all sigh

Prufrock- Lol at the yellow cube

Bozza- Poor you, hope dd is feeling alot better today.

Yikes everyone, stop with the potty training talk! i'm dreading it!!

I did something dreadful on Saturday morning, i thought i'd got the hang of the cuttin nails thing with clippers, but Kiera decided she was suddenly going to point at something just as i was cutting and i caught her finger realy badly. It bled for ages and poor Kiera looked so bewildered! she didn't cry just started at it! I felt terrible Df will be cutting nails from now on

Speak later guys, i have to go pick up all the toast kiera has dropped on the floor in stead of eating for breakftast

xx

spots · 31/08/2005 20:41

Oh cat do post a pic of him if you can, I melt at puppies and kittens, soooo cute and soft. I used to think far cuter even than human babies...

We inherited an amazing Silver Cross pram yesterday with special riding seat for DD. The kind we as toddlers used to ride on. Quite amazing and totally unexpected. It's such a shame there are only about 4 streets in our wee town!

Had some boy babies out to visit today and DD got all worried and clingy, not wanting to share her toys or play with anyone except me. shame.

Prufrock, good news about the brick! I love that you've barely posted since it was lost, have visions of you pacing the corridors of your house muttering and unpotting houseplants with a teaspoon.

Bozza, is York near you then? I did wonder if it might be a possible venue for a meetup...? being so well connected by rail etc. Glad dd a bit better btw.

egypt · 01/09/2005 10:34

awww, cute, cat. hope kiera's finger is better soon. I feel a bad mummy as dd has terrible nappy rash. flared up all of a sudden and i think it was besause i got complacent about putting cream on. and used tesco's own nappies. have decided they leave the skin wetter than pampers. aaaaaaanyway, she isnt too bad today, but each and every time she wee'd yesterday she went 'oooo ooo oooo ooooo' and cried. bless.

phew for the return of the brick.

without a car today - and yesterday - and day b4, so a bit lost, but as a result dd HAS slept in her cot. found that if i wait until after lunch she will go down after all. so that's nice. and for much longer.

oh, and going back on supply teaching from next week. boo hoo. we are sooooo skint.

Bozza · 01/09/2005 14:08

DD much better although still a bit overtired but thats partly because we're on holiday this week and trailing her about and partly because of the bad nights she's been having. Spots York is about 45 minutes drive from us. So not bad. We usually go to the Park and Ride because DS likes to go on the bus. Then we do the Railway Museum which is free and good for kids. Did have a fancy to go without kids and go shopping but don't know when that will be feasible.

Went to Warwick Castle yesterday to feed DS's interest in knights, castles etc. They have jousting, birds of prey, archery etc. Both kids loved it on different levels. Had a meal in a country pub, put the kids in their pjs and came home. My arms and legs are stiff today from carrying DD up and down spiral staircases.

DD is in her cot and DS is watching Brother Bear but we are going swimming this afternoon and then tomorrow DS starts school.

spots · 01/09/2005 18:47

Would any of you do a meetup in York???
