Great name flippin . Even when I am around I find it hard to interest S in daytime feeds too. But he still likes his milk in the night so i might need to do something about that...

Momi- my legs have had a good trim as of last week, but only because of my spa trip. I do find the hair doesn't grow as quickly as it used to so it was just a bit stubbly, even though i hadn't shaved for months.

I think it was just nice to be appreciated for different reasons today. When my boss saw me, she was so happy i was back that i got a lovely warm welcome, including a welcome kiss .

belgina · 19/01/2010 23:04

Hi everyone,

flippin Great new name

bras I've dropped a cup a little while a go, I think it was connected to weightloss. I'm surprised I haven't dropped even more, cause with ds and dd1 I was an F for about 4m and then dropped to a D, now I "only" went from a FF to a F

pula Glad you had a great first day back

running Chin up. The prospect of having to go back to work is enough to make anyone feel down IMO.

ladygarden

Little question about BLW. C doesn't seem to be eating any veg except for broccolli recently. She seems to be a carboholic, lol. I always thought she was a bit too young to be a fussy no fruit and veg eater. Any other babies out there doing the same?

This whole Haiti disaster thing is getting me upset today. I have to switch off the news or I start crying. I had to stop and give C a big cuddle earlier today because of seeing all those poor orphaned and hurt los and babies. I said to DH that I wish I could adopt one or at least go and give one a cuddle

Off to bed now to join DH. C's still hasnt made a sound to my big surprise. She's definitely settling down with the sleeping.

pulapula · 19/01/2010 23:26

Night night ladies.

running- hope you feel better soon and can enjoy your last month before returning to work. I know when I had DD and went back to work when she was 6mo I felt a bit cheated and down towards the end of my ML because the first few months were such hard work, and then when she got easier, and more fun to be with and developing into a funny little person, I had to return to work and spend less time with her . This time i feel a bit bad for not getting upset at leaving S at nursery although I did miss him and have just fed him and had the most wonderful snuggly cuddle afterwards with him snoring on my shoulder .

runningmonkey · 20/01/2010 10:54

Morning all,

Sorry about the whinge and thank you for all the lovely comments . Pula I think you have hit the nail on the head with the feeling cheated - I just about feel like its got easier and more enjoyable and now I have to go back to work. I like the thought of the cuddles when I get home though. I'm also a bit lonely as several friends seem to have disappeared into the woodwork since I had A. Visiting my family last weekend was great but I just wish they weren't 4 hours away so I could see them more often. I feel awful for feeling like that though as I know others have family much further away than me, sorry.

Belg A is definitely a carb girl too, I make sure I offer her a bit of everything but she always goes for the bread/pasta/ricecake/potato. She does love fruit though so I am just persevering and hoping she will get the veg thing soon. I tried her with avocado yesterday and she loved it so that might be worth a go if you haven't tried it yet.

ladygardens? I am lucky if my legs get a going over once a week atm I do agree though about that and the non-attractiveness of bf bras making me feel totally unsexy. Although I was never a lacy thong type, I am looking forward to getting into some more attractive underwear once my boobs settle down...

talking of which, how long should it be after giving up bf before they stop feeling lumpy and full? I gave up 10 days ago now and they are still v sore and are now leaking after not leaking at all while I was feeding a lot!

Afternoon!

Will come back later for a proper catch-up, off out to see NCT pals for coffee and cake. I've started couch to 5K now that the snow has gone so I feel like I can eat cake and not feel guilty!

Felt like adding a kiss so I will. x

Loobylou36 · 20/01/2010 14:29

Afternoon

More snow here but at least its not sticking this time no BF group today tho because of it wanted to go before M gives up the boob completely

Got out to tesco to do a shop earlier and have prepared all the veg to go with a free range chicken for dinner. M is v. tired but won't go to sleep so is grumpy. Have tried to settle her for a sleep in her cot so fingers crossed

Loobylou36 · 20/01/2010 14:31

spoke too soon...M is crying - time to try more boob

flippinegg · 20/01/2010 14:49

Afternoon all.

looby - hope M settles again soon.

Nothing much to report here, the girls are quietly trashing the house together. Perhaps I should stop them, but I'm so amazed that DD1 is actually playing with A that I'm just letting them get on with it for now!

Loobylou36 · 20/01/2010 15:37

M didn't settle but is now sat on the rug playing with her shape sorter and gumming a rice cake whilst talking to herself

she really doesn't like to sleep during the day but can get grumpy at about 2ish sometimes if she has had no cat nap in the car/buggy - bit worried what she's going to be like when she's at nursery 8.30-4.00

She's got her next (3rd) 1hr play session at nursery on tues so hopefully will be able to leave her there for a morning soon

SpangleMaker · 20/01/2010 17:22

Hi all, will catch up for proper name check later. DH has taken H out (rearranged from Monday) and although it sounds crazy I want to get things done rather than put my feet up. One of the things I miss about pre-DC is the ability to get things done uninterrupted.

Looby you may find M sleeps at nursery even though she won't do so at home. From what I hear it wears them out, plus the peer pressure when the other babies are sleeping is quite effective. I went to another mum's house yesterday and her DTs napped for 2.5h and 3h+ the day after nursery .

flippinegg eek, Easter makes me think about being back at work and H's birthday (actually before easter)

SpangleMaker · 20/01/2010 17:27

Oh yes, Belgina H alternates between carbivore and carnivore. He likes tomatoes but is not interested in other veg. I'm beginning to think he is developing the tastes of a fussy toddler: on Monday, he had a meal of sausage, those Organix corn puff things (shoved in mouth in handfuls), breadsticks and a whole satsuma. Thank goodness for the satsuma, or I would be feeling very

llareggub · 20/01/2010 17:56

Pant.

Back. From. Run.

Can't breathe! Off to collapse in dark room.

essenceofSES · 20/01/2010 18:27

Quick post whilst O is crawling round the room wearing himself out before bedtime!

Great news today - my younger brother and his GF got engaged She's lovely and v good for him so we're really pleased!

Looby - O also loves his shape sorter even though that's not what he does with it. He like lying on his back banging the lid and one of the shapes together!

flippinegg - love it!! I stopped off to get some fuel and was tempted by their 2 creme eggs for 85p offer Feel too guilty though and haven't eaten them yet!!

Llare - v impressed with you doing couch to 5k

Running - IKWYM, O is just starting to get into a routine (finally!) and have a decent day time nap and sleep ok at night and I won't get much chance to reap the benefits.

Spangel - O loves satsuma too

Ladygarden - least said from me would be best I think More like ladywilderness
Must do something about that....

Babbling - last week I was wondering whether I just didn't hear O babbling or whether he just wasn't at that stage yet but this afternoon he's not stopped! My mum popped over and commented on his vast vocabulary!

O has also moved from a crawling position to a sitting position unaided numerous times today. Because he has never really done the sitting thing (seems to be too boring for him ) but does do crawling, he doesn't really topple over as he just decides to lean forward and crawl instead!

pulapancake · 20/01/2010 19:41

Ses- congrats on the engagement of your DB and his GF .

looby- i have known babies that don't sleep much at home sleep more at nursery. It is very tiring for them and they get used to the routine of having a nap all together. It's amazing to see it . My S had a 75 min nap today, and they probably had to wake him as it was lunchtime.

S has in the last 2 days started crawling and being able to push himself back up to sitting from his tummy [clever boy emoticon] . BUT his favourite toys are now doors and the fire guard . Must remember to close stairgates and do other babyproofing.

S refused bottles again at nursery, even though they contained my lovely EBM . Apparently it's quite common whilst settling in, but he ate well, slept well and played well so they were pleased with how he's coming on .

belgina · 20/01/2010 20:44

Evening all,

llare Big pat on the back for doing the couch to 5k thing. I couldn't do it [lazy emoticon] Hope you've got your breath back by now and that you wont feel it too much tomorrow.

looby I've heard the same about sleeping and nursery, though haven't got any experience with it myself, not having used a nursery with any of mine.

running spangle* Thanks for your comments. I'm glad to hear that C's not the only one who's a carboholic carnivore . Today she had a whole slice (1/8) of a pizza (frozen pizza size) and ate the whole thing. It was a ham and pineapple one and she even ate the ham and pineapple too. Quite quickly too Maybe I should just give her veggie pizza from now on

pula I hope S will take the EBM soon. It's always horrible to see it go to waste. All that effort for nothing.

looby Hope M has gone to sleep now and isn't grumpy overnight too.

ses congrats to your db and gf

babbling C's best babbling comes when she's angry/tired and complaining. She doesn't tend to babble when she's happy and contented, odd but funny. It's funny to hear her get angry and doing this bababababwabwabwa thing at the same time.

Who was it that wore their top inside out the other week? Well it was my turn today. I only discovered around 6 o'clock and I haven't bothered changing it either, so it's still inside out

SpangleMaker · 20/01/2010 21:00

pula glad you enjoyed your first day back at work. Did you get to travel 1st class back from London while your DH was struggling through the bedtime routine? Shame about the waste of EBM, but hopefully he will get used to the nursery workers and take a bottle from them.

I'm a little bit less worried about my H and nursery/lack of eating/milk problem. He has started to eat a bit more in the last few days, so hopefully he will build on that. And today he went 6.5h between milk feeds - fed him before his nap at 1.30pm, tried when DH was taking him out at 3.30 but he refused, as he did when he came back at 6.45pm - he had had water and a hobnob while out and that obviously filled him up - then finally he had a feed when I put him to bed at 8. So clearly he can manage when he needs to... if only he'd do it at night too!

pulapancake · 20/01/2010 21:22

spangle- yes i had a lovely time on the train last night whilst DH put all 3 to bed (relaxing in 1st class ). DS also refuses some daytime feeds at home but not nighttime . Although things are gradually improving at night. He tends to have a feed anytime between 9.30 and 11pm, and then another around 3 or 4am, and then wakes for the day between 6.30 and 7am, but isn't always that hungry then . However, I know with DD and DS1, when they were 8mo, we were phasing out the dreamfeed and they had been sleeping through for a few months , but we'll get there in the end as i'm sure H will too.

pulapancake · 20/01/2010 21:25

belgina- I can't believe i expressed 9oz and he didn't drink any of it! I didn't bother expressing today/tonight. S also babbles more when tired/overtired. Usually it is quite happy babbling, but can turn to squalking when he gets frustrated.

flippinegg · 20/01/2010 21:42

evening!

pulapancake - love the name. Maybe I should have gone for flippinpancakes?!

looby - DD1 never napped very well for us at all, I'd have to take her out in the pushchair until she was nearly 2, but she slept absolutely perfectly for the childminder, used to drive me mad.

eating - it's funny what they like, isn't it. A's current favourite is mashed potato, but she eats all kinds of fruit too. Remember though, until they're one(ish) milk is more important.

llaregub - well done on the running! I've done something similar in the past. Well, I assume it's similar - I did the race for life and used their training plan to go from never doing any excercise to running it in a sort of reasonable time. I keep meaning to do something similar again, but instead I'm sat here playing on the internet and eating biscuits . I need a kick up the arse really.

babbling - it's so lovely, isn't it! A babbles and copies noises, but she growls when she's cross! She also clicks her tongue a lot, don't know where that's come from.

belgina · 20/01/2010 22:02

flippin I know milk is C's main source of nutrition at the moment, but it would be nice if she showed some interest in fruit and veg, so she's on her way to good eating habits

flippinegg · 20/01/2010 22:14

belgina - good habits [rollseyes]. DD1 was a fab eater as a baby/small toddler, but now she has an opinion, gah! Rejecting a lot of stuff now shes nearly 3, she had a tantrum yesterday because I made her a cheese sandwich not a tuna one. [loads more eyerolling].

pulapancake · 20/01/2010 22:30

I remember when DD would eat everything she was given, all healthy stuff, and then she turned 2 . Now her favourite foods are crisps, chocolate, biscuits, cake, although she does still love fruit thank goodness.
