Well done Ktpie

Neenz good luck for tomorrow. I am sure it wont be twins, but, did I ever tell you that I used to play hockey with a woman who had two sets of twins under two?

neenz · 02/02/2010 14:24

Well mine would be two sets of twins under 2.5 so a piece of piss really!

neenz · 02/02/2010 14:26

I'm not sure about this face - it looks like someone on drugs!

TheBuggerofSuburbia · 02/02/2010 15:42

Ha ha Neenz, that will be your face tomorrow if it is twins

DebInAustria · 02/02/2010 15:43

Good luck for tomorrow Neenz

Spider - is the film still on?

PP - sorry to hear you're feeling homesick, I understand what you're going through, e-mail me if you want through FB

UDC - yes Nigel's got a music meeting but nothing too exciting, he's working with Trinity exam board on their new keyboard exams, which involves arranging music and hopefully composing some music for the books. We didn't know until recently that it was definitely on for both of us so we're just staying in a Travelodge in Southwark on one night and a b+b near Stansted the last night.

Can't wait though - sorry we can't meet up this time though. If my Mum hadn't been able to come then I would have tried to get together with some of you.

Bugger - yes we're still thinking of the Northeast, we've narrowed it down to quite a big triangle between Barnard Castle in the south, Alston in the west and Hexham in the East. We've got tickets booked for May to come over for a week and check out the area. Problem is that I want a bit of civilisation, whereas dh would live in a remote cottage in the middle of nowhere. It must be somewhere I can get tesco or another shop to deliver to!!

abdnhikinginawinterwonderland · 02/02/2010 15:47

UDC It's childfree - I'm not done my course until after 5pm and I'm there without the boys. I haven't booked accomodation yet so I could book somewhere handy - i need to be relatively convienent for heathrow the next day though.

and glad there's nothing wrong with your tummy but hope that doesn't mean you're stuck being uncomfortable...

It's another mini-blizzard out of the blue up here right now. Fraser and I just got caught out in it while we were on a walk while DS1 was in school. Must go put on clean socks now....

Bugger I was going to say that but didn't think I could be so cruel!

SpiderWilliam · 02/02/2010 17:12

AH - forgot to say that I wont be able to meet up with you next Friday as we are going on holiday next week. Really disappointed to miss you.

Hoping I can make the Tedi meet up. Sponge: failing to think of a better venue than Amber's house. The ideal option for me would be a soft play near Waterloo. To the best of my knowledge no such thing exists. Amber: your neck of the woods is a bit of a trek for me, but not impossible. Mind if I sit on the fence and decide later on if I can come?

SpiderWilliam · 02/02/2010 17:18

Deb - just checked times and it is still on at the Odeon in Leicester Sq about 7 times a day. The odd showing at other places. Is it next week you are here? Should
be fine.

ktpie · 02/02/2010 17:39

Hi everyone!
I tried to update you all last night from my phone but after spending ages writing the post (think non-predictive text) it got eaten by the ether.
14 hours of labour, which was good in some ways as the ILs got here in time. Irregular contractions again, they broke my waters when I was about 6cm dilated then he was born 1hr 20 mins later, 9lbs 7oz. Lots of stitches. They were worried that the uterus didn't contract quickly enough so wanted me to stay in last night. Not too bad as I got my own room, lots of faffing around this morning waiting for hearing tests and the like. Came home after lunch, J is very interested in his new brother and keeps stroking him and prodding him. We're going to call him Henry.
Weird being back in the world of newborns with meconium nappies and sore nipples.
Think that's the gist of it, better go J is down from his nap.

PiggyPenguin · 02/02/2010 17:44

That's brilliant Ktpie, well done, and what a fab name! He was a really good weight too.

Neenz, you will let us know how the scan goes won't you? I think we are all on tenter hooks...

neenz · 02/02/2010 17:57

Well done ktpie! Love the name, and what a bruiser. I know what you mean about being back in the land of newborns - my sister had a baby last Wed and being around him is so weird! The twins met him for the first time today and were fine with him and me holding him etc.

I will let you know about the scan as soon as I get to work tomorrow which will be about 1pm. I really don't know what my face willl look like if it's twins again but probably isn't far off

TheBuggerofSuburbia · 02/02/2010 18:24

Yayyyy ktpie, fab name (it's B's middle name, so I commend your good taste!).

I ban myself from mn when I'm in the office working, but I can check FB, so I'll be looking out for your news tomorrow neenz.

Deb, that covers quite a large area! Personally, I'd want to be within easyish travel of Newcastle, but still quite coastal.

Rolf · 02/02/2010 18:31

Well done ktpie. Lovely name. DD1 would have been Henry.

Neenz good luck tomorrow

abdnhikinginawinterwonderland · 02/02/2010 18:32

Congratulations ktpie!!! that's wonderful! Henry is a lovely name and 9,7 is a healthy chap! sorry to hear about the stitches, I hope they'll heal well. At least there's plenty of us here who know what you're going through!

OP posts:
DebInAustria · 02/02/2010 19:13

Ktpie - thanks for filling us in on the details, sorry to hear about the stitches, did you have stitches last time too? Hope J adjusts well to his new role as big brother and welcome to MN Henry, our youngest member of the June 08 group ( for the moment)

spongebrainbigpants · 02/02/2010 19:54

ktpie, good to hear from you - huge congrats on your new boy, and lovely name .

A absolutely adores his little brother - strokes his face, tries to pick him up, always wanting to give him hugs. It's so cute. And you should see the way M looks at him - total adoration . J's going to love being a big bro'!

Spider et al, if everyone else is fine with Amber's house then go ahead with that - I'll just take a rain check this time. I just don't think I'd be safe driving that far .

SpiderWilliam · 02/02/2010 20:17

Ktpie fab news. A great name too. Thanks for updating us all.

TediBersMorRad · 02/02/2010 20:19

Well done Ktpie - and a good weight! That's half of Iestyn again (and a bit)! But really pleased for you.

Actually I have a bit of a problem now because suddenly I want to have another baby. Totally because I'm not a baby person, but I keep thinking about it all the time.

Meet ups - well, I'm in Tooting, and there's a soft play near us in Colliers (they call it Wimbledon ) - is that easier to get to?? Our house is small. (We joke that we have 5 bedrooms, but 3 of them are in Wales...) Restaurants don't really work for us either.

There's a business idea - set up a meeting place (a whole chain of them, in fact) for mums with toddlers. Like soft play but more civilized.

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 02/02/2010 22:25

Too hungover to post properly but just wanted to mark my spot and add my congrats to ktpie!

Sorry to hear about the stitches, but trust me - they beat healing au natural because your stitches have to be taken out! [still bitter]

Bit gutted that there'll be all those meet ups just a few weeks before my trip.

Must go to bed. Night all.

PuddingPenguin · 03/02/2010 07:53

CONGRATULATIONS KTPIE!!! Hope you heal quickly. Love the name (it's Ryder's middle name in case he ends up a bit more conventional than us, although have met two Ryder's so far in NZ. Gutted.)

Upsidedown - DH and I were planning to see Avatar tonight for his bday, but we're both too shattered so cancelled the babysitter (MIL) and are having an early night instead. I still want to see it though, maybe at the weekend. Good luck at the specialist.

I'm jealous of the London ladies meet up too! I'm gonna keep suggesting a whole thread meet up for August until you all agree.

Good luck for the scan Neenz, sorry but I will ROFL if you've got another set of twins inside!

Spider - How on earth did she find time to play hockey!!??

Thank you for your kind words Deb. Homesickness has abated a bit thankfully, I don't want to move back or anything (yet), but this isn't home yet either IYKWIM.

SpiderWilliam · 03/02/2010 08:32

Penguin Her husband used to turn up to watch the match with two toddlers and two newborns in infant carriers. She also worked 3 days a week. Superwoman or what? She said that being in an office sitting in a proper chair, and talking to adults was so much easier than looking after all four of them. On a different note, I meant to commiserate yesterday about the homesickness. I had it terribly when I was on my gap year in Oz (even though I knew it was only 12 months). The best advice I had was never to turn down an invitation to anything (as long as it was legal). No plans for August yet, so will look forward to seeing you then.

Goddess when are you in London? We can always go for a third meet up.

abdnhikinginawinterwonderland · 03/02/2010 08:51

PP the first 6 months are hard in a new country. Apparently the United Nations (who obviously have tons of ex-pat employees) tell their families that the hardest bit is actually about 3-6 months after the move when you're still not settled (with friends, support system etc) and the warm fuzzy glow has worn off. But you will settle! I've no interest in moving back to Canada now...

spider that's too bad you're on holiday (well not too bad that you're on holiday, but too bad that it's at the same time as I'm in London).

OP posts:
Rolf · 03/02/2010 09:07

We can have a meet-up at my house . It's the only way I will ever met you lot

I have conjuctivitis AGAIN. Both eyes this time so look very much like a mad ood. Itls bloody uncomfortable.

T likes to twiddle her hair when she's feeding, and yesterday she got some wrapped tightly round the top joint of her index finger. I couldn't get it off but it wasn't bothering her so, to my shame, I forgot all about it. Hours later and her poor finger was swollen and painful, with the hair digging in. DH got a knife and cut it away (he has nerves of steel) and she was so upset.

Penguin sorry about the homesickness. Sounds like good advice from those who know what they are talking about.

UDC good luck with the medical stuff.

Spider at the superwoman. There's someone round here with 2 sets of twins (both IVF). She had 4 kids under 2

PuddingPenguin · 03/02/2010 09:17

Thank you Abdn, thank you Spider.

Abdn - The UN got it dead right for once!

Spider - All the invites are DH's family, not that in itself is a bad thing, but we have at least one visit a day already (sometimes up to 3 or 4), I think I need to see other people. (That sounds like I'm breaking up with them doesn't it. "Sorry MIL & FIL, but I think we should have an open relationship" )

Baby music starts again this week and I'm going to start going to classes at the local gym, all two of them. I'm also investigating parenting courses just to meet other Mums.

Forgot to respond to Tedi's earlier post - I would be suprised if I ended up being an only child, I don't know why, but I always imagined you having another at some point.
