thanks for all the support everyone about our health worries - fingers crossed and head firmly in the sand now that there's nothing I can do about it.

Just did the meal planning for this week when DH is away (bangers&cabbage mash, spaghetti carbonara and peas, greek salad, sweet potato fries & homemade fish cakes) and next week when I'm away (pitta pizzas, beans on toast, greek salad, and fish fingers and baked potatoes). I feel like I'm underestimating DH, but then I don't want to overwhelm him...

Amber, please can you text me your address - I think it might be a bit of a drive from here .

Totally agree about sitting in restaurants - not a chance here!

Amberc · 01/02/2010 20:43

Aberdeen - can you remind me of the date for that Friday?

Sponge BR3 is the first bit of my postcode - it's Beckenham. I'm afraid I have no idea where you are based! I'd be happy to go somewhere else - just thinking of kiddies running round and contained while mummies a have a glass of wine/cuppa in peace! I know there are soft play places that you can hire out but don't know how much they are. weekday daytime might not be a lot?

pureeandpearls · 01/02/2010 20:52

Hi all- just checking in. Don't have anything to report (though Funpod awesome and imo worth the money....and Ambers house is mahoosive so everyone should descend ) except the usual. My mum took me out in my wheelchair today. I got so excited going into actual shops- we even had a cup of tea in the M&S cafe. I felt so normal I was buzzing ( although realised how much stuff is at perfect height for a pushchair-based thief!! Very interesting seeing the world from a pushchair-type height!!)

Waves to all and goes back to her Viennetta

DoNotFeedMeBiscuits · 01/02/2010 20:58

nothing to say, just posting to mark my spot.

x

pass me some vienetta please puree.

TediBersMorRad · 01/02/2010 21:09

Can I point out that ktpie hasn't been on here for a bit...

abdnhikinginawinterwonderland · 01/02/2010 21:15

I know I know!!!!

Amber - it's the 12th...

OP posts:
spongebrainbigpants · 01/02/2010 21:18

It's a 3hr round trip to you - think that might be a bit much for me with the amount of sleep I'm getting at the moment .

Any London girlies suggest anything else? I'm Berkshire way.

spongebrainbigpants · 01/02/2010 21:19

oops x-posted with loads of people!

puree, good to hear you're getting out

DebInAustria · 01/02/2010 22:20

just checking in on Ktpie - she's gone quiet!

SpiderWilliam · 01/02/2010 22:26

Just hit "hide thread" by mistake, and had to scrabble around to unhind you all. Phew.

Deb. I saw one film in 2009, but I would recommend it. "An Education" is a great Brit flick, nominated for BAFTAS, and very enjoyable. Nick Hornby wrote the screenplay.

I have missed too much to comment on other stuff, so will bid you all good night.

PuddingPenguin · 02/02/2010 02:10

Homesick.

Quick msg to Tedi - Have you read Senor Nice, maybe not your kind of read but lots of fascinating welsh stuff (Elvis was of Welsh descent, America was named after a Welshman, Cardiff was briefly the shipping hub of the world due to the fantastic welsh coal, etc).

Well done on the muffins Amber, I'm in the middle of making fudge so can't stop for long.

KTPie, where are you?

Spider - Glad you found us again. That girl in An Education is looking stunning ATM at all the awards shows, I trying to channel her - diet starts Thursday! (DH's bday 2m)

Abdn - sending happy healthy vibes your way.

Neenz - I'd be a bit p'd off too. I like the way you work though "it has to be his decision", might have to try that method myself.

Puree - A wheelchair view is probably pretty similar to a pushchair view. Interesting perspective. at the vienetta, haven't had one of them for years. I remember in the 80's they were the poshest desserts.

PiggyPenguin · 02/02/2010 08:19

Ooh, hope Ktpie is at home with a lovely baby. Do we know if she is having a boy or girl? Very exciting.

abdnhikinginawinterwonderland · 02/02/2010 08:37

I've started a style and beauty thread here looking for inspiration for a bag to get me to London....

Ktpie's face book page is updated! she's had a baby boy!

OP posts:
DoNotFeedMeBiscuits · 02/02/2010 09:21

you beat me to it Abdn! seems to have been born yesterday as status update was about midnight!

well done KTpie x

now, when are you due Puree?

pureeandpearls · 02/02/2010 10:57

Congratulations ktpie!

I'm due at the end of the month so don't get too excited. And I think you already know I'm having a girl so no shock there.....

Viennetta is a guilty pleasure of mine. I have one in the freezer at all times. In fact when houseguests helped themselves and ate it all and didn't replace it I was furious. Of course they blamed it omn pregnancy hormones. Which reminds me....I have a Creme Egg somewhere!

PS- Sponge: we got a Nipper. The Pocket Dictator climbed straight in it once it was assembled and refused to use the Silver Cross Pop. So she goes out in it every day (I've yet to use it but everyone who has taken the PD out has said that they love it.) Yet to test on a long walk but can't wait!! Thanks for the recommendation.

Upsidedowncake · 02/02/2010 11:22

Hi everyone

I think I could do 12 Feb evening - are we doing this childfree or with children as have got confused. If childfree, what about meeting in central London? Would love to meet Abdn and I think I saw that Essie was in London that week too? If central London, would be easier for Sponge and OK for Amber???? Where are you staying Abdn?

Abdn, sorry about all your health worries

Neenz, agree with you about both weekend days. It's not really fair and very frustrating. I think men really struggle when they realise their 'thing' (football, running in DH's case, rugby weekends with the boys, skiing) get lost when they have kids. DH found it really frustrating and really wants to do marathons again - or even worse triathlons!

Amber, well done with muffins - are there any left?

Puree, well done for getting about. And rock on creeme eggs? This time two years ago, we couldn't get anough of them. I couldn't keep a Viennetta in the freezer as would eat it all at once!

Congratulations, Ktpie!

Debs, what's Nigel's meeting? Is it an exciting music meeting? where are you staying?

Penguin, making fudge. Yum!

Have any of you seen Avatar? I wasn't interested and then they said such good things in te Sunday Times this week, I've got interested again.

Had a gastroscopy yesterday,

Upsidedowncake · 02/02/2010 11:24

Sorry yes, gastroscopy, have had an uncomfy tummy since I was pg with Dorothy ... lots of bupping and pain which I put down to reflex at the time. It turns out there is nothing wrong (no ulcers etc) except that I have a strange anatomy. Looking on the internet, it looks possible that Dorothy may have moved thw whole thing about when I was pg but have to wait and see what the consultant says. The joys of pregnancy!

spongebrainbigpants · 02/02/2010 11:32

UDC, sorry for the confusion - we're talking about two different meet ups! 12th Feb is a childfree night in London with AH, the following Friday is a child-accompanied (good grammar!) day when tedi will be down. I think so far tedi, Amber, spider and myself are free if you want to join us. But a location is proving tricky!

puree, meant to ask what you'd bought - tis fab! Really lightweight even with my chunky little man in it, so easy to push and fantastic turning too. Hope you are pain free soon enough and able to enjoy pushing your girls around in it .

DebInAustria · 02/02/2010 11:57

Congratulations Ktpie, I can recommend having 2 boys close together, Stefan and Tristan are such good friends. Looking forward to photos on FB.

TheBuggerofSuburbia · 02/02/2010 12:00

Congratulations ktpie! We need to know the name!

Another day working from home for me, so far I have taken B for his SF jab and to nursery, been to the supermarket, given a nod towards the dishwasher and the washing machine, and now I'm having an early lunch. Soooo busy!! I must pull my finger out this afternoon though, I have a ton of stuff to do.

Abdn, sorry to hear about your health woes, hope they all work out ok, and congratulations on your new nephew.

I want a trip to London too [wails]

Deb, I meant to say to you ages ago - were you thinking about moving to the Co Durham/North East?? That's where I grew up. I still miss living there but DP will never move from Scotland.

Love your emergency Vienetta puree. We used to get it occasionally after Sunday lunch - I'm going to have to buy one now.

Upsidedowncake · 02/02/2010 12:23

Thanks, Sponge. We will be in Bilbao over half term so very sad not to see Tediber - assuming that everyone else will be there for child-free event. Keep me posted as I would like to see you all on Friday 12th evening.

PiggyPenguin · 02/02/2010 12:33

Fantastic news Ktpie, congratulations! Can't wait to hear the name.

neenz · 02/02/2010 12:48

Well done ktpie! Not long after his due date then. I reckon about five hours labour

Very jealous of the meet-up!

Got my scan tomorrow morning. A bit nervous, not so much about whether there is a baby in there cos I have heard a hb with the doppler, just worried there might be more than one! But that is very unlikely isn't it, even though I have had MS x 1000 and look about 6mths pg already!

spongebrainbigpants · 02/02/2010 12:59

You want four kids neenz so why not get it over and done with in two pgs?!
