I am so blessed to be part of this group. We are starting another year together, our 3rd but who's counting. May you each have a happy and healthy one. I look forward to more meetups, more FBing, more Skyping, more Waving, more crazy tales, more laughter, more hand holding, and more support than is humanly possible! XOX

nope Sazz. D and L have been in a right snottery grump with barking coughs, DH has been dealing with a horrible incident at work and was late in so I didn't want to waken him too early and it was still snowing - in other words sod it, we stayed.

DH took the girls to the recycling for some fresh air and L was only wearing a long sleeved tshirt and bodysuit NOT pleased - he thought I'd sent her out in it

christmas tree has sheddedalloverthefeckingplace been lamped out the back and the girls have been warmed up with stovies and hot chocolate the front room is beginning to have some semblance of normality again - just need to clean it now

am now sitting doing these schedules again and I cannot make it simpler for her - she phoned and left a long message today and I couldn't bear to answer it as I thought I might kill her - will deal with it tomorrow

dizzydixies · 03/01/2010 18:14

4 washes done here too Sazz and unfortunately DD2 is such a filthy critter I don't think I'll ever reach the bottom of the pile

now, can someone please tell me what I should be asking this girl tomorrow otherwise I'll do my usual rabbiting on and blether nonsense at her

GladioliBuckets · 03/01/2010 18:14

In the winter I use either Waitrose Baby Bottom Butter (just whipped olive oil with vanilla and chamomile) or E45 cream. In the summer, minimum factor 30. Cheap and effective.

My hands are shite though at the moment, has anyone done the thing where you smother them in cream and wear cotton gloves to bed?

TS You have medical insurance, isn't there some kind of obesity counselling he can do? If he's in denial about his food issues then he needs to talk it out with someone less close than you and he'll respect a professional more anyway (men). Got to be cheaper for your insurance company to pay for preventative therapies? Tell him it's hypnotherapy to get him through the door so he thinks it'll be an easy ride.

dizzydixies · 03/01/2010 18:16

Buckets - that you have a Waitrose near enough. and yes I've done the cotton glove thing but I normally do vaseline on my feet and cotton socks overnight - when I say normally I mean about once a year when I know the flip flops are about to come out

am also now beginning to think I need counselling to deal with my obesity issues

GladioliBuckets · 03/01/2010 18:17

Sazz if you can find yourself a scabby old cat, fleas and ticks give off a pretty green fizz on a fire. Should think headlice would work the same way actually.

Ooh on the subject of your subconscious Dizz my ILs gave me back the book I leant them about being adopted. I'd be happy to post it up to you for nowt if you're feeling up to slicing your skull open and peering inside.

GladioliBuckets · 03/01/2010 18:22

Ask her what she does for fun.

dizzydixies · 03/01/2010 18:28

thanks Sazz, all great suggestions as usual - one thing thats bothering me about the potential arrangement is my being in the house at the same time as opposed to them going to a CM or nursery - am not sure if I was here I would be able to 'let it go' and leave her to deal with stuff in the same way am not sure D would let me get on with my work from home etc

am hoping when I ask her what she does for fun she won't answer slicing her skill open and peering inside

that book would be great if you don't mind buckets, thank you

yes Sazz, it was fine and I had a REALLY lovely supportive group of girls however, am not stupid, I'm aware that I eat too much and I know why - I just haven't seemed to reach the stage yet that I need to go enough is enough and get on with it

when I quit smoking for example, once the decision was made that was it and I haven't had another one since, thats been 8yrs now

I just need to start seeing food in the same destructive manner

dizzydixies · 03/01/2010 18:36

sorry I never meant to imply that you thought I was stupid - I didn't phrase that very well, but the counselling was very basic in LL and I felt it was only added to justify the price and give it an edge over the cambridge diet - the main success for me was going to meet the same group of women each week, being supportive about it and not wanting to let them down by not loosing weight - I can get that on here now though

cheap at half the price

our consellor was very nice but I felt a touch patronised by it all, I'm aware that boredom/insecurity/upbringing/habit/frustration etc lead to over eating and so on and so forth, however I also felt I had no right to be patronised as although I possessed the knowledge I either don't have the tools to cope with it or the willpower to change it otherwise I wouldn't be sitting here the size that I am

ho hum onwards and upwards

I was chatting to a pg lady last week and admired her DD's name, Stella, said it had been on a shortlist of ours. She then asked for more ideas and LOVED the idea of Heidi, which we'd shortlisted for Kurt.

Hey it's been a long time now, let's do a list for Oops - what was everyone else's alternative if their (latest) LO had been the opposite sex? Kurt was to be Nancy or Heidi iirc.

dizzydixies · 03/01/2010 19:19

Stella was our dog's name till she wouldn't answer to it!! She's now Hollie as it was the only thing she would come to

am glad now though as its too close to DD1's name and we couldn't have used it if we'd had Stella the dog

Nancy and Heidi are lovely - also like Nina in that same vein

DH and I have just discussed Wolfgang hunter Covington for a potential name for future DS I think seeing as there won't be one we're safe enough agreeing to it!!!

Evening gals, back from the cold wilds of Licolnshire. Had a nice meal out, then we planned to leave the cars and go out drinking. Unfortunately, on the way back to friends house a lady came off the road in front of us, into a ditch. Being good samaritans we stopped and helped her out. Road was icy and pitch black. She had chest pain (prob from steering wheel and seat belt) so we took her 5 miles to our friends house to ring police and ambulance. 2 hours later they carted her off on a spinal board . 2 frigging hours!!! Needless to say we stayed in and drank wine instead .

Back to work tomorrow - crap

dizzydixies · 03/01/2010 19:32

oh my goodness CC thank goodness you were there, am sure that poor woman was so grateful for you looking after her - sorry about you being back to work though

Sazz - I thought you were more in the know than I was there! Glad DH had a very good reason for vetoing Nina

friend of mine told me last week she was pregnant, lovely news, however she has told me today that she's only about 4wks pregnant - she must have told me as soon as they did the deed doesn't make it any less nice news but sodding hell thats soon to be telling folks no? Esp as they've told their 3yr old DD who's now excited about her new sister - long time to wait on her arriving

oopsandbabycoconut · 03/01/2010 19:49

Dizzy - when this girlie arrives on Monday can you leave her with the girls whilst you go and make tea. You will be able to hear how she deals with the girls when you are not in the room. She should ask questions play with a few toys and generally put the girls first instead of sitting in silence. Find out how well she knows the area, does she have any groups she goes to regularly. Does she like being outdoors - thinking summer is coming and Hollie needs walking, girls need walking ways to get them all out the house whilst you or DH sleep/work.

Who is going to need a baby naming? I am not PG, I think I have swallowed a small octopus colony though. DD was going to be Noah James if she was a boy, although 5 mins before she was born DH wanted to call her Martha DD hugged my bump today and said 'heca', We are going to have to start calling him/her baby or we may end you with the only girl in the world named Hector!
