Just thought that I would get this started before the ante-natal thread gets filled up, not that I've had much time to post since I had DS but others might be able to multi-task better than I can!

Tillyscoutsmum · 22/02/2010 09:19

Thanks for the comments ABF - we got married in December 08. I loved my red dress (had already done the big white wedding thing before though so not sure I'd have had the guts to do it if it had been my first wedding iyswim ?)

LadiDadi - that dress is beautiful. I love the colour. Re: hols - would your DH consider a fear of flying course ? I know a couple of people who have done them and have been immediately "cured".

We had our best night yet last night - Ferg did 10-2.30 and then 3-6.30. I feel like a new woman He's now fast asleep in his swing. I'm hoping this is the start of him being more settled

Elsewhere · 22/02/2010 09:26

Tilly you pics are lovely.

I'm feeding dd when she wants & this is lots in the day/evening as I carry her with me and at about 3.30-4am & 6am in the night.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 22/02/2010 09:50

Elizabeth did 7pm till 6am. She doesnt wake for her 10:30pm feed anymore, stirs abit when I change her nappy but she just drinks whilst she sleeps!
Im trying to be all nonchalent about it incase I jinx it!!

anniebigpants · 22/02/2010 10:38

I fear we are going backwards instead of forwards where the night sleeps are concerned. Last night i put DS to bed at 7.15 after a feed, i gave him a feed at 10.45 which he was virtually asleep for, then he woke at 1.45, gulped back 5 oz and straight to sleep, he woke at 3am for some strange reason, i settled him back to sleep, then he woke at 3.30, took a bit longer to settle this time, he woke hungry at 5.45, fed him 5oz,and changed his nappy. He woke at 6.25 as had dirty nappy, then i was up and down until i had to get up at 8 to get Ds ready for nursery. Im shattered

AmazingBouncingFerret · 22/02/2010 11:02

Oh no Annie, any chance of a nap today?
I dont know why I ask that, whenever DH asks me that I always list all the things that need doing in a really irate voice until he slopes off!

HollyHo · 22/02/2010 14:55

Hi everyone. I'm new - to this thread and MN as a whole - you all seem to know each other so well now - but I hope I can fit in nonetheless!
I am a first-time Mum, DD was born on 9/12. Has been interesting reading through the thread - took me some time. But I have been having some of the same issues, some worked through already - some not. So it's nice to see how you are all getting on. I don't want to leave a really long first message, just wanted to introduce ourselves.
Speaking of holidays though - we aren't booked but DH is Slovakian - have had visit from MIL but we'd like to go over there in July/August to see the rest of the family - and in the process of getting DD's passport sorted - £49?!? Kind of worried how she will fare on the flight but once you're on it there isn't much you can do is there - plus it's only about 2 hours. Think will do that flight before I tackle an 9 hour one to see my Sister in the States.

GoldenSnitch · 22/02/2010 19:27

Thanks Tilly I'm actually getting quite excited about going to Birmingham now. DS is going to love the SLC. Had a sneaky look at your pics too. That dress is gorgeous - as are your babies

Our teats have a 1 on them ABF and are the ones which came with the bottles. I think I might try some variable ones and see if they help. I think Breastfeeding is supposed to be harder than bottle but my let down is so fast, that might not be the case for us - poor kid, I've been squirting her in the face all day!! She gags on the teat but maybe she's just sucking it too hard and pulling it too far into her mouth?

Will get an alternative adapter too.

We're having problems with our Big City Garage at the moment. The sound for the cars going down the ramp seems to go off repeatedly all by itself if I leave it switched on. I thought it was the flickering from the TV that was doing it at first but I've moved it to his bedroom now and it's getting worse. The helicopter noise doesn't work anymore either. It was a gift though so I don't have the receipt. Not sure I could be bothered to lug it back to the shop even if I did though. He seems to be just as happy to play with it with the sounds turned off.

Having the same problem as annie too - Catherine is all smiles till I get the camera out, then she stares at it as if it is the most confusing thing ever! I'm never going to get a smiley pic at this rate!!

Dh was away last night seeing Machinehead in Birmingham so I had to do it all alone! Did really well too. DS only had to be put back to bed once and was asleep by 7, Catherine cluster fed till 11 and ended up co-sleeping with me which she must like as she then slept till 7am this morning!! Would have been a wonderful nights sleep except DS got up at 3am and 4am Put him back to bed both times and he finally got up at 7.42. Must be DH getting up for work that's waking him at 6 every morning but I can't really change that. Pity, cause he's been in a really good mood all day today.

Glad Catherine is getting longer and longer sleeps now but read in DS's book that he was doing 10 hours by her age! He was 2 whole pounds heavier too though.

Welcome HollyHo. Always nice to hear from new December Mums Hope we can make you feel welcome. I got my new passport on Saturday and now have to get one for both of the children! Waiting till next month as mine was £80 and another £100 for the kids ones is a lot in one month! Keep wondering how much use DD's will be in 5 years too. She's going to look nothing like her photo.

Think that's me all caught up now - Phew!

Claire236 · 22/02/2010 19:45

ds2 has taken to sleeping from midnight until 8am but tried to get him to sleep earlier last night but he didn't get as much milk down him as usual & did 2 lots of 4 hours instead. He's not been right today. Had 5ozs at 8am & has only had about another 6 since & that's been from 3 seperate feeds. Chucked out a lot of milk today. Hoping when he wakes up he'll have a decent feed. He seems really tired & I think he might be teething which seems crazy at 12 weeks.

Kingsroadie · 22/02/2010 20:04

Hi everyone - and hi HollyHo!

GS - I agree re the teats - mine got very fed up with 1 size and now we use variflow as it goes up to any age and means she can suck as hard or not as she wants. Good luck!

P is sleeping 11/11:30-6/7am which is pretty good I think - well actually she goes to bed at 7 and doesn't even really wake for her late feed so I suppose that's sort of 7-6/7am. She is 12 weeks though! Was doing it from 11. However, in the past few days she has been only taking 2-4oz in the morning when I would have thought she would be hungry for more - does this mean I should move her late feed earlier so she is more hungry when she wakes?! I am worried she won't then sleep through though which would be a bore indeed!

Had some more bad hip news today though - she is now out of the harness as an ultrasound revealed her left hip is still buggered and she has cartilage between the thigh bne and hip socket meaning it isn't properly in the socket. This, we have been told by a physio, means (although we're waiting for consultant to confirm) that she will need an operation - tofind out what is actually wrong and to remove the cartilage and hopefully put the hip back properly. This then means she will be in a spica cast for 6-12 weeks wth her legs in plaster. Am not very happy today . Poor little thing. Sorry to moan - I know there are lots of things worse - I just feel we have had - relatively - bad luck with the nipple thrush, reflux, milk allergy, and now this. I just keep thinking it isn't fair. But it just isn't. Life isn't.

Anyway, enough moaning - we just have to get on with it and wait to see what our private consultant says about it and if he agrees with the diagnosis. Plus she had her jabs today - not a good day!

God, sorry I always seem to just come on here and moan at you all. You must be sick of me! ABF great sleeping too and Tilly - hope he continues to do better at night. Claire - that's a good sleep!

Tmrw will be a better day (I am determined!) - hopefully with less rain.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 22/02/2010 20:19

Kings, (I dont normally do hugging either!!)
Sorry to hear about the diagnosis, things will get better.

Welcome HollyHo. Make yourself at home, we are all very friendly here. (its AIBU you have to be careful of!)

Snitch, this sounds silly but have you tried changing the batteries? I know when the shop display one goes like that a quick change sorts it out. If it isnt phone your branch first to make sure they'll do it rather than lugging it all the way down. You should be able to. It was bought less than 6 months ago and isnt doing what it should do, so, by law they have to replace it whether you have receipt or not. Just quote your statutory rights at them and threaten them with going to head office they should back down then. I'll have to find out who the area manager is for your local shop, you could be evil and name drop him/her!! I say all this but they'll most likely just swap it, not all the shops are like mine!

GoldenSnitch · 22/02/2010 20:29

Oh Kings! So sorry to hear you've had more bad news. Hoping that it's not as bad as the Physio thinks, and if it is, that the op goes well and Persephone makes a quick recovery. Don't worry about moaning, we're all here to listen if you need us. More very unMNetty

Thanks for the advice ABF, you're a star I haven't tried changing the batteries - meant to and keep forgetting If it's still playing up I think I might try taking it back. I didn't know it could be so easy!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 23/02/2010 11:16

I am such a nob! I came to pick Ds up from nursery far to early, thankfully they have a little library attatched to it so I can just MN whilst I wait! I dont know why I thought it was 11am that I pick him up. Duh. I think it might be the first sign that im going mad.

Elizabeth didnt do the 7 till 6 last night, bugger. Lol I knew it was too good to be true.

GoldenSnitch · 23/02/2010 11:25

Nah, the first sign was having kids in the first place

I'm having one of those mornings I dreamed every day as a SAHM would be like before I had children - DS and I are playing cars in a trayful of out of date porridge oats on the kitchen table while Catherine sleeps in her Moses basket He's having so much fun, he's not even making a mess!!

I'm sure all hell will break loose later - they're being far too well behaved right now!

I often think that too Lee. I assure you, I'm not this good most days!! Plus, the oats are pretty much keeping him entertained on their own. I just help make piles now and again

I'm sure if you could watch from the outside, you'd be surprised at how good at playing you really are

My HV suggested a dose of Calpol before the jabs to help with the discomfort. Maybe give it a go if you're worried about screaming?

Oh, I do that all the time. It's taken me ages to learn to let him do it his way!!

BexJ78 · 23/02/2010 15:02

Hi all

Good to hear your news. Kings I am so sorry to hear about the problems that P is having; it must be upsetting for you. Hi Holly, good to see you on here!

I have added a couple of pics of Anna smiling. They are the only ones I have managed to take of her smiling, like Annie and GS, she is all smiles and then the minute i get the camera out she looks all confused. She is cooing loads now though, it is very cute!

Really i should be tidying the house as have visitors coming tomorrow, but it is much more fun to be watching Come Dine with Me and on Mumsnet, whilst Anna plays on her baby gym!

She is sleeping through almost every night now from about 10pm until about 6.30/7ish, which is great. The other day we went down to Sheffield and stayed with my friend and she slept til 8.30am! woo hoo! Am just hoping that i won?t have jinxed it by writing it on here....

Have booked her in for the second lot of jabs...i can?t believe she is 10 weeks now, time has absolutely flown by!!

Claire236 · 23/02/2010 18:21

ds2 back to screaming when taking a bottle & stuff so back on the gaviscon. Fed better than he did yesterday so going to stick with the gaviscon for a bit.

kingsroadie - sorry about your dd. Think you're entitled to complain. I certainly do enough of it on here

Kingsroadie · 23/02/2010 21:29

Thanks for the support everyone - it's much appreciated!

She has been very sleepy today as a result of her jabs I think but she has been so so sweet smiling and cooing and laughing - think she is releived not to have the dreaded harness on.

The orthopaedic surgeon came round tonight (he lives just round the corner so pooped in which was super nice). She will have to have an arthrogram where they inject the dye and xray her to see what is what and then they will try and manipulate the hip back into position and she will be in a spica cats for 12 weeks. With a second anaesthetic at 6 weeks in to apply a new, bigger cast.

The op should be in about 3 weeks providing he has room. He was saying we could wait until we go skiing in apri as obv it would be a pain with the cast but we think best to get it out of the way asap...

poor thing I just feel so so sorry for her and hope she doesn't stop being my happy little baby like she did with the stupid harness. I hope that was because it pushed her hip into a bad position so hurt a bit.

Sh slept 7-7:15 (with a dream fee at 11) again last night - long may it continue! Glad to hear everyone is doing well...

LaDiDaDi · 23/02/2010 22:57

Hello everyone, sorry to hear about your dd Kings. Hope that she gets her op asap.

Nothing much to report here, dd's pox have been all scabbed up for a day or so so it's back to nursery tomorrow for her. Fingers crossed that ds escapes it .

AmazingBouncingFerret · 24/02/2010 10:24

Gah Elizabeth woke up for a feed at 3:30 am again last night. I think the 2 nights that she went till 6am were a bullseye look at what you could of won type thing!

Ive posted some pics up of her. She is such a little smiler until I get the camera out then she just stares. LOL wont be long till she's posing like her brother!

Claire236 · 24/02/2010 11:26

kingsroadie - I think I'd want the op done as soon as possible. The sooner it's done te sooner she'll be all better. Jealous of how well she's sleeping though.

ds2 has his second jabs tomorrow. After the last ones he suffered for about a week which I'm hoping was just a coincidence & he'll be ok tomorrow. Had him weighed today & he's 12lbs 2ozs at 12 weeks which is exactly what ds1 was at the same age.

Stupid question as I should know the answer but can I use the sort of descaler you'd use on a kettle on my steriliser. Tried white vinegar which isn't strong enough but can't remember how I used to do ds1s steriliser.

sparklycheerymummy · 24/02/2010 12:16

Kings.... I hope your little treasure gets sorted soon and that you arent worrying too much xxx

On another subject...... how many of us ladies have done the deed since having our babes...... and how do you get sexy when your boobs are leaking and it hurts where you had your stitches.... after having big issues with dp about intimacy and passion and togetherness the event really was a bit sore and now i havw
period pain type aches??!!!

sorry if tmi

LaDiDaDi · 24/02/2010 15:01

We've done it a few times sparkly, it's just finding an opportunity when both dc are asleep, we are both in the mood and together that's the problem. I find it difficult to relax/switch off totally but no physical problems (though did have an elcs).

Dull weather today here, we've done cutting and sticking after lunch and dd is now watching a little bob the builder. Want ds to go to sleep so that we can do some cooking/prep for tea.
