Well hello

Went to see a friend with a 5 week old baby and he's very cute but you know what - I don't want to do it again! EVER!

Hazel is sleeping as well or badly as ever

And now she wants entertaining, bugger...

WrigglyFairyOnTopOfTheTree · 08/12/2009 16:12

Oh I still want another one but I keep reminding myself it is the crazy hormones speaking. And with a baby in my bed all the time I can't exactly do anything about it anyway!

HeiligFeierabend · 08/12/2009 16:49

Aaargh

The swine flu is upon us. Well, there is a suspected case in DD1's nursery.

I'm scared.

bebemoo · 08/12/2009 18:58

Evening ladies.
What's been going on? I cannot believe that I've only got 2 weekends before Christmas... I'm cutting it close this year...

bebemoo · 08/12/2009 19:08

Should I be very daring and go into the attic and get down the Christmas stuff and put it up before Friday when my poorly Dh gets home? I've got horrible stats when it comes to getting things out of the attic... Me 2 it 4...

Elfytigga · 08/12/2009 19:35

Auld don't worry about posting it! Now I know it's not on its way I won't worry until you tell me you've sent it - I worry a lot about things like that!

Sam isn't sleeping well since the big cold, he's still coughing at night and waking himself up.

bebe we all got festive and changed out names accordingly Everyone has had a bought of sickness of some sort. Nobody is sleeping. Nutts ex is being a bigger twat than before. Some brave people have tried cc. Food goes in, poo comes out, so everything is normal there.

Not sure what a good name change should be....

Oh I've been sick too on both sides of the plane trip

bebemoo · 08/12/2009 19:57

has anyone found a good gate for stairs the 'wrap' or turn?

BErriesBEllsandMOOnlight · 08/12/2009 20:18

How's this?

GoodKingWhatFreshHellLookedOut · 08/12/2009 20:36

Evening.

Noone has admired my Christmas name

Bebe I like yours. Very cunning.

We use a pressure gate on our stairs - ours hhave a return but we've just put the gate at the top of the main flight, as the bathroom door is on the return, and if we put the gate right at the top he could still crawl out of the bathroom and tumble down the main bit. We figured that 4 carpeted steps probably won't do him much harm, whereas 14 of them might!

We have just put up the Christmas tree. This ninvolved a complicated procedure whereby I drove the boys down to DPs office in the car, then we bought our tree, then we took DS1's seat out and folded half the back seat down to put the tree in, put Orbit and his buggy in the other side, then DS1 and I went home on the bus while DP drove the tree and Orbit home. Bless him, he heard Orbit make a funny noise on the way home and pulled over in case it was Orbit discovering he was allergic to Christmas trees and failing to breathe! (I am mildly allergic to them) When he reproduced the noise Orbit made to me I had to explain that it was Orbit's noise of delight It does sound rather wheezy!

Orbit is just now starting to sleep better. Nobody jinx it please.

SurpriseInACracker · 08/12/2009 20:48

Hi all
just saying hi.
Got it bad here, Evie was poorly for her Christening on Sunday, then I had it Sunday night/Monday, DH came home with it yesterday, DD2 came home with it today and now DS1 has his head down the loo. Damn this D&V virus. DH is going away with work tomorrow as well....give me strength!

To my secret santa...I took your hints and ordered exactly what you like but it taking ages to arrive but rest assured I haven't forgotten

Hope you all okay, no other news here really apart from my nipples are killing! Since E has been poorly she only wants to be BF so I am having to make up for her missing her meals and I am in agony

Not prepared for Christmas at all, decs not up, not a card written, not a pressie wrapped. Oh well.....

Will try and catch up tomorrow when DH away Still jealous of you all meeting on 18th

BErriesBEllsandMOOnlight · 08/12/2009 20:48

Good point about falling down fewer stairs rather than all... I'm a bit worried about her pulling it down or pushing it the stairs with her falling after it. (And she uses everything to pull herself up now.)

BErriesBEllsandMOOnlight · 08/12/2009 20:51

Oh a meeting on the 18th?where?when?

SurpriseInACracker · 08/12/2009 20:55

since when did I have a DD2? Obviously I mean DS2!

Bebemoo, good to see you back

mrsgboring · 08/12/2009 20:56

Evening

Edmund is missing Daddy. He occasionally reaches a point when he is too full to BF to sleep and then latches and unlatches hysterically on me until pressed to a manly, non-lactating chest. I've now got him lashed into a mei tai and I've binged on M&Ms owing to stress (and as an irrational response to the fact I'm lighter than I've weighed since E's birth but feel even more of a hazard to shipping than ever)

Auld, poor DS1 and poor you. Hope it's over soon.

Fei our suspected swine flu came from nursery. It hasn't been as hellish as you might think. Since I'm now ill as well (and should have full immunity from my vaccine by now) I think it can't have been SF. But then again I'm only a bit ill.

WFH - lovely Xmas name your Xmas tree antics sound like something we would do.

I promise I will be getting Christmassy soon. Usually Xmas starts in earnest after the last family birthday on the 10th but now it will be after the still very exciting and wonderful but now ever so slightly deeply fucking inconvenient snap wedding SIL has sprung on us. Tigga I would love to believe there will be food, but since at the moment there isn't even a venue and it's on SATURDAY, I doubt that will be organised.

HarkTheHerAuldAngelsSing · 08/12/2009 20:57

I have name-changed.
It feels weird;

WFH, I meant to say I like your new name; sorry. And everyone else'e too, of course

Hello, surprise!

HarkTheHerAuldAngelsSing · 08/12/2009 20:59

else's
gah!

x-posted.
Mrsg, that sounds like a very improvised wedding. Almost as bad as ours, really. No, actually, ours wasn't improvised, we just didn't tell anyone about it.

ZuluWassailer · 08/12/2009 21:15

Hello

Lovely names everyone.

Welcome back Bebe.

Sorry all the ill people....

How can you bring a wedding forward . Our wedding was pretty simple and cheap but if someone told me to bring it forward I would have murdered them!

Nothing exciting to report here - my life seems to run a dull course. Not too bad, not too exciting... Probably a bit boring for MN really. Just wrote my Christmas cards though. Woohoo!

HarkTheHerAuldAngelsSing · 08/12/2009 21:28

Glad you had a good trip, bebe, sorry about the sickness. It is the leitmotiv of this thread, really.

I am actually working, but am catching up on MN in fits and starts...
DH is working late. Again. He has not been home before 11pm since last Monday, possibly even before (so long ago I can't remember).

Elfytigga · 09/12/2009 07:35

Zulu the couple are probably already married in the eyes of the law through a registry office - I believe the only other place you can get married and not have a registra present is in a C of E church. The religous ceremony will be the one that mrsg is attending. As such as long as the mosque agrees it can be moved up.

ZuluWassailer · 09/12/2009 07:59

Thanks Tigga

Auld, you must hate being a single parent. Is your DH genuinely so busy that you have to be abandoned? Did you get your printer troubles sorted out?

Waiting in on a delivery today. Anytime between 9 and 5.30. Does anyone else find it hard work staying in with a baby? Although this one is currently bracing himself against the computer desk to fill his nappy

WrigglyFairyOnTopOfTheTree · 09/12/2009 08:19

Morning

Welcome back Bebe. Lovely name change. And you too Auld and WFH and everyone else.

zzzzz S cavorted around through the wee hours keeping the whole house awake. He's still very screechy now. Yawn.

I found out last night that DD needs a nativity costume for Friday. I can pick any nativity character I like. Any ideas?

Restrictions:
I don't want to cut holes in any pillow cases, sheets etc as I don't have any to spare.
Car is broken so I can't get into town to go to big shops so am restricted to a few little convenience stores and newsagent type places that are within walking distance.

HeiligFeierabend · 09/12/2009 09:04

Wriggly... an angel? Does she have white tights, a dress or long t-shirt in a pale colour? Then cut some wings from cardboard, cover them with aluminium foil, make a wreath from tinsel to put on her head? Or something to that effect

WrigglyFairyOnTopOfTheTree · 09/12/2009 09:21

Sounds gorgeous Fei. I had been thinking of a sheep (white tights, white top and make some ears and a tail) but I think she will feel a bit short changed if everyone else had halos or crowns so it probably has to be angel or wise man.

I have also just rummaged through my scarves and shawls and found a thick navy blue shawl which could make her into Mary.

HarkTheHerAuldAngelsSing · 09/12/2009 09:23

wriggly: stripy tea towel on head, dressing gown/poncho/outsize dress, toy lamb/sheep and voilà: a shepherd.
Tea towel on head probably now v un-PC, but it worked for me in about 1978.

Zulu, I am a single parent, really, you're right.
I utterly hate it. After about 5 or 6pm I know I'll not be able to leave the house at all, nor have any company once the kids are in bed. DH does need to work this hard because of the *rse who is his boss (whom you may or may not remember from your lurking on Fanjo Warriors: the Soap). He sacked someone a few weeks back for no real reason, another colleague is so p'd off she has gone on sabbatical, he is too tight to employ sufficient staff for the workload, the secretary is a trainee (cheaper, you see) so only works 3 days a week as she is in college the other 2, and thus everyone else (except the boss, of course) wastes time answering the phone, etc. They are drowning in work. Two or three new skivvies have been recruited, but they will need training before they are operational, and no one has time to do it. Meanwhile they all earn peanuts, while boss rakes in a serious fortune. I could rant for hours, but won't!

DS1 is now no longer spewing everywhere, but is pale and weak and can't go anywhere. I left the house yesterday morning to take Alex to the CMs, and then once at 9pm to take out the rubbish and I have major cabin fever!
