Did you warm up MrsG? Stomach stretching prior to the main event is essential to success.

I have finished wrapping presents, finally, after having a wrapping epiphany - it is much, much easier to wrap presents standing at the kitchen worktop than sitting on the floor in the spare bedroom. Why have I not thought of this before? Possibly because the kitchen worktop is so very rarely clean enough to wrap gifts! Now there is just the further mammoth task of packing for visiting the Olds'. Christmas presents alone will fill the boot.

I have also discovered that radiatore are the ideal pasta shape for babies. The ridges not only catch sauce, but also provide excellent grip for tiny hands (also, they mesh together like tiny gears, which pleases me for no reason!). It's like having crinkle cut pasta. Pincer grip seems to have appeared from nowhere this week, so we've been giving big pasta another go, after weeks of teeny weeny alfabeto only. I have hoofed down a whole bag over the last three days, which is an improvement, as I usually manage to deal with them in 2 days!

So how are all these poorly babies doing?

WFH - has your Mum had her ultrasound yet? Hope everything is okay.

SantasNutts · 23/12/2009 15:24

Right, first lot of houseguests here and ...

...

Waitrose have cancelled my food delivery!!!

Oh no!!!

Snow must be bad if Waitrose are cancelling things.

Rustling stuff up out of the freezer as we speak. Fortunately DD1 is a gourmet cook. But we may be out shooting pheasants in the field by tomorrow.

Elfytigga · 23/12/2009 20:02

Nutts who is this mythical fat man of which you speak? I for one get my home ready for Santa. Plus am treating myself to cleaners at the moment and they got my home sparkly

BTW Boff loving your posting on the teenage pregnancy thread - hope she does all right.

Evening

I am finally on top of things and feeling relaxed after some urgent last minute work and a very big Christmas shop yesterday.
My carpet is looking terribly festive courtesy of Ellen and Wriggly's DD who got covered in glitter at the library today. Ostensibly they were making tree decorations but I think they misunderstood and decided to make Liberace costumes. My floor does look very pretty.

Zulu - Your poor father. Is he ok now?

Fei - Will you being having your meal tomorrow? My friend Karsten says that the 24th is the greater celebration.
I do hope Hazel is better and today has run smoothly for you. Have a wonderful time.
Saucy stories? Why have we not heard of this before?

Bebe - I did have a giggle at garbage cookies. Now, remind me please, what are biscuits and gravy? It's not as it sounds.

Boff - Please tell me you have photos of the tobogganing?

Ginger - "I felt like Shackleton"
How was the concert?

MrsG - I haven't been carol singing for years. Did you enjoy yourself?

Bicnod - Honestly. Grumbling about your delivery not turning up. Next you wont want to wear your paper hat because it's fashioned from the Daily Mirror.
Did you manage to get everything you needed?

Nuts - Try not to worry. I frequently get odd lumps and bumps behind my ear. I had one inside my ear last week.

Tigs - Do you mean the Nurburgring? I really want to organise it for DH's 40th.

Kaz - Christmas eve pj's. How cute. I plain forgot this year. I wonder, can I be arsed to hit the shops tomorrow? hmm

WFH - How is your mother? Has she had her scan yet?

RudolphRocks · 23/12/2009 20:06

Boff - I was in Waitrose yesterday and the stores haven't been receiving their deliveries either.
Let's hope you don't have to resort to the same measures as the Uruguayan rugby team.

BAUBLEnod · 23/12/2009 20:51

Oh no Boff - poor you I sent DH to Tesco last night and he got most of the stuff we needed (looked about 10 years older by the time he emerged). I got the rest from Co-op and M&S at the local garage today, so food crisis averted in the Bicnod household

It's thundering here... eek!

WrigglyFairyOnTopOfTheTree · 23/12/2009 21:13

LOL @ Liberace costumes.

Even after her bath DD still has glitter everywhere - under her nails, up her nostrils. Everywhere.

When asked who she had seen at the library she said "Ellen and Glitter". Oh "and Father Christmas" as an afterthought.

SnowyBoff · 23/12/2009 21:21

DD has pointed that after spending six weeks in New York when she was sixteen, she has particular skills in the area of provisioning and crowd survival. She has offered to go to the supermarket to scrum for supplies with her elbows stuck right out. She says this will allow her to come into her own, and for her, it will be practically enjoyable. If you've ever seen DD niftily get a table for the family in a crowded cafe, you will know what I mean.

Now, forget the pix of the tobogganing, who wants to see me in DD's boyfriend's Ferrari with Felix earlier today?????

we3kingbeat23oforientare · 23/12/2009 21:26

Ladies, if I don't speak to you before....Have a wonderful night/day/rest/manic run around and hope that the DC are all well and dont keep us all awake and if they are awake late then to fall asleep before they get over tired and hysterical....ah you know what i'm trying to say!!!

Off to the land of no internet ( what no MN??!!)

Happy Christmas and enjoy your time....x

ZuluWassailer · 23/12/2009 21:41

Me me me for the ferrari photo Boff!!!!!

WrigglyFairyOnTopOfTheTree · 23/12/2009 22:00

Hey - has she upgraded boyfriend or has boyfriend upgrade car Boff? Last time we checked DDs boyf was driving an Audi wasn't he? Clearly never a girl to go for a man with a rubbish car.

When I was her age a car at all was impressive!

So where is the pic? Bet Felix looks very cool driving it.

SnowyBoff · 23/12/2009 22:37

DD has a new bf practically every week. The Audi chap is long gone. Apparently he was wanting something more serious. . This one is apparently not a bf, they are just good friends or some such.

SnowyBoff · 23/12/2009 22:43

Have just put photo on my profile now. DH says I am being really sad. Moi??

SantasNutts · 23/12/2009 22:45

Hello all!

We're in snowy Scotland at SIL/BIL's house - proper snow up here and DS1 unbelievably excited at seeing his cousins.

Mum's ultrasound isn't till next Wed unfortunately, but she's going to call the doc's today to get blood test results - they were testing for hepatitis which was one of the possibilities. Thank you to all those who asked after her, she's not feeling too bad at the moment, came round yesterday to see the boys and seemed quite cheerful, considering.

Boff I'm dying to see pics of you in a Ferrari! Put them on Facebook, or transfer your profile to your Christmas name!

Can't believe how many clothes some of the babies are wearing, I think I'm a miser as our heating is only set to 18.5 degrees and is never on at night, and Orbit sleeps in ls vest, ls babygro and 2.5 tog sleeping bag, no arms. Occasionally we chuck a blanket over him if he looks a bit chilly

Mind you, he normally ends up in our bed at some point, so he's probably quite toasty

Trip up was good but we were delayed so ended up on trains for nine hours - had that swaying feeling like when you've been on a boat when we arrived.

Feier hope you made/make it to Germany ok and the drive isn't too awful.

DS1 has gone to the panto with DP and his cousins, so we are having peaceful time in the house - Orbit and I just had a bath and now I'm trying to figure out how to wrap DP's presents. Managed to carry some of DS1's presents up here, but we'll be having the rest when we get back before NYE.

Happy Christmas to all you lovely people! May the babies sleep well and the mums all have a drink (or twelve)

SnowyBoff · 24/12/2009 16:55

Happy birthday Tiggs!

Can you see my Ferrari photo now?

Just about to leave for DS2's carol concert in the church choir. He has decided to wear the suit he wore to the christening and looks too sweet for words.

mrsgboring · 24/12/2009 18:50

Merry Christmas to everyone.

Am manic here - DS1 has an ear infection, house is a tip but the prepare ahead food is half done.

Hope everyone gets some sleep and those journeying can get recovered, those cooking get it done and that Santa brings you lovely things.

Off to froth at mouth get everything sorted calmly and efficiently.

RudolphRocks · 24/12/2009 18:52

Hello. All prep for lunch is done, all presents are wrapped, babies are smelling yummy and ready for bed.
Ellen is actually keen to go to bed since I told her Father Christmas has been spotted in Kingston so should be here shortly.

Boff - Did DD go foraging? How did she fare?
Is that a 575? Or a 599?

WFH - Lucky you having snow, how lovely.
