Hmm might be a bit early for a festive thread title but thought we could get in the mood.

None of that tasteful two colour decoration scheme in my tent - oh no. The gawdier the better.

the second post was obviously in case you missed it the first time!

steaknife · 22/11/2009 10:36

I can't come!

Mum is out at some course that day so can't babysit.

I'm just copying the old top to make a new top. I had a very fruitful rummage in the remnants bin in the shop on the corner

miamla · 22/11/2009 10:39

steaky come!!! i'm sure the others won't mind if Izz comes too.... seriously...jump on a train and come!!!!! I've got a travel cot.....

I'll let you look at my fabric

steaknife · 22/11/2009 10:39

oh and and I've worked out that if I worked in London two days a week and from home three days I would actually be better off than if I moved to london. How crazy is that?

Now I just need to convince them this is a good idea!

OP posts:
miamla · 22/11/2009 10:39

and if you're really good, i'll let you stroke some of it

steaknife · 22/11/2009 10:40

oooh tempting!

miamla · 22/11/2009 10:41

disclaimer: fabric appreciation is not necessarily a requirement for visiting the miamla household but it may help secure you an extra slice of toast for brekkie!

steaknife · 22/11/2009 10:41

now I'm glad I didn't say anything about rummaging in your stash....

OP posts:
steaknife · 22/11/2009 10:43

another disclaimer: we aren't being mucky, these are genuine, technical sewing terms.

gah! i got distracted by luring Steaky to london... i actually came on here to balance out the dp bashing i was doing on friday....

last night i taught him to knit but he wasn't content with my way because he 'wanted to do it like that lady we saw' So i told him to google 'continental knitting' and a few mins later he's casting on a few stitches and actually doing it! I do love him and his funny ways! he's now the proud owner of a lovely pale pink square (i obviously found the most manly yarn i could!)

PoinsettiaBouquets · 22/11/2009 10:44

And I'll be childfree Steaky so I can help with Steakette.

miamla · 22/11/2009 10:44

NO NO NO rummaging is most certainly NOT allowed!!! and i will be searching your bag before you leave

miamla · 22/11/2009 10:46

just looked at the calendar and DP is out all day Sunday so we'll have the house to ourselves

i'm quite amazed he hasn't thought of a reason to go out on sat yet but he seems quite keen to meet you all!

right steaky that's decided then! you're coming

steaknife · 22/11/2009 10:48

when is the 28th? Saturday?
Have to see, now then I could combine seeing these work folks on the Fridy, stay over and join the jolly on the Saturday...

as you were

TwilightSurfer · 22/11/2009 11:39

Dizzy, I'm not yet really awake BUT are you knocked up again????

pertelote · 22/11/2009 11:58

Morning chums. Dizzy like Sazzles said you have plenty of good reasons for not feeling like yourself atm so don't beat yourself up about it.

Thanks for the understanding comments re children's book habit! I heartily endorse Cyteen's defence though. AND you gave me a name to investigate! Thanks Yes, Little White Horse and Narnia both on the shelf and firm favourites. My collection is well balanced between books I actually think are good (e.g Diana Wynne Jones) and pure comfort kidlit (Anne of Green Gables anyone ?) And ALBS you want to be careful with offers like that, if it weren't tipping it down with rain I'd be on your doorstep at this moment

Hi Loti and TS, good luck with the shopping!

steaknife · 22/11/2009 13:01

pert Gilbert Blythe was my first book boy crush and I still cry when Matthew dies at the end of the first book.
Have you ever read Susannah of the Mounties? Goes something along the lines of orphan girl has to go and live at a fort with Mountie Uncle.

My mum got me all the What Katy Did books and Little Women - all brilliant.

miamla · 22/11/2009 13:05

steaky...yup, staying fri as well is cool as is leaving izz with me whilst you go off to meet work people...

dizz... been feeling same as you re af.. getting fed up with being so hormonal and its finally appeared and the fog has been lifted. i've been awful enough without flu on top so you are completely allowed to be argh and bleurgh

pertelote... i'd love to be able to lend you some of my books from my childhood but my mum has got them all at her house and they're not allowed to be removed!

miamla · 22/11/2009 13:06

oh and steaky.. DP has offered to babysit izz and well as DS if we all fancy going out somewhere!
