Hi everyone

Calypso - glad that you got a referral and that your choice to breastfeed is being supported. 'Failure to thrive' is a horrible term - I really do think that HCPs completely misunderstand how emotive these issues are for mothers - if they knew, they would describe it in a different way Hope you get an appointment soon and it goes well. Good to hear that you're having some success with naps though.

littlepea - sorry to hear about your DS - at least you have a diagnosis that you can take somewhere, if you see what I mean. Hope that Faith is doing better.

HT - respect to you for doing your degree. I'm trying to get back into my accountancy studies and have had a bit of success so far, but I'm doing it entirely under my own steam, so don't have any external deadlines to meet.

devils - so sorry that you're having a difficult time. I know that when I tried to stick to a routine, I found it incredibly stressful - she would never do what she was meant to do at any particular time - but once I tried a more flexible approach with an understanding of how much sleep/ milk she needed, it became a bit easier. So sorry to hear about your Dad.......

Isabel has very red cheeks, is dribbling a lot and constantly putting her hand in her mouth, so I guess she's teething too. She's been very irritable recently so I'm experimenting with giving her a small amount of Calpol to see if it calms her. She's very tired today, though - she was awake and screaming for two solid hours last night . Trust it to happen when I was away for the night without DH........

Definitely up for an April London meet up. I'm going back to work after Easter, so I can only do weekends or Mondays (my day off).

BellaCullen · 02/02/2010 19:49

Calypso was great to see you too and Annalise is such a cutie and looks absolutetly healthy and thriveing fine.
Hope you get your appointment soon.April meet-up will be good.
Tried my motherease and diddy naturebabies nappies again and they have been fine. What I
forgot to do is to wash them twice before using them so been fine since. The motherease is one size nappyso very bulky and big on him.
Do prefer nappies that come in different sizes. Can you dry them on radiator, can vaguely remember not to but not sure why not as dry so much quicker then.

Had Nathaniel weighed yesterday and hes only put on 8ozs in 4 weeks so average of 2ozs a week.Nurse was worried so got health visitor to phone me today. She said not to bother trying formular now as hes 17 weeks and be to disruptive wont take it anyway. Suggested to try baby rice and come back in two weeks to see whether it makes a difference. So thats what will try in next few days.Wanted to wait till 6 months but as weight still an issue will try some now.HV said paediatrician and nutrionist would suggest starting to wean from 17 weeks anyway if there is a weight problem.

littlepea its good you have a diagnosis and hope the school will get some support in for him soon.

fidelma how did it go at the hospital?

devils routines are quite hard the only thing i stick to is a bedtime routine and most night he`s in bed around 7pm so have some time for myself.

Sorry if missed anyone out.Off to have a relaxing bath and reading my book.

fidelma · 02/02/2010 20:09

Yipeeeee all clear Just a massive milk duct that does not close (well I guess 6 years of breast feeding has finally taken it's toll){ They did an ultrasound scan so I feel very happy now.

Sad for thoes who have lost people to cancer. It is so horrible.

I would love to meet up and Edinburgh would be fantastic for me.

Connor has had a few spoons of pear and baby rice.Going down slowly but going down.

HumphreysCorner · 02/02/2010 20:29

Waving Hello at all of the Oct 09 babies and mums!

We're back from our 16 days in the States and poor BabyScout doesn't know where he is or what time it is. My FiL picked us up from LHR and we spent Monday/Monday night with them before driving back home late yesterday afternoon. But, thanks to the fabulous M4 & M25 traffic, we ran late and went straight to Guides instead of going home. And then we needed to get some dinner (since we didn't have any groceries in the house). Poor little man doesn't know if he's coming or going. It's a good thing he's fairly flexible and sleeps in the car (so do I!). I, on the other hand, am still very sad about having had to return and am trying very hard not to cry about it at the drop of a hat -- had a right old break-down on Sunday (the day we left) and spent half the evening and most of the trip to the airport in tears. Thanksgiving has never felt so far away....

I am looking forward to when Seb's back on UK time and we can get into a loose routine. Also looking forward to catching up with friends here and settling into Guides, Tots, BF-group, baby massage, swimming (starting next term) and lunching with the ladies.

I see there is mention of getting together -- can I join in on that? I used to commute from Suffolk to London for work, so travelling down wouldn't be a problem.

Seb seemed to have had a little spurt in the States when he was 12 weeks (though has grown loads and I can't wait until Friday's weigh-clinic to see the results) but think he might be going through another at 14 weeks. Is this possible? Or maybe it's him trying to adjust his body clock?

It's days like today I wish I was back on the caffiene....

rubyslippers · 03/02/2010 08:31

morning all

great news fidelma

night from hell last night - Ruby wouldn't settle and then woke hourly

i cannot go on like this

went to the GP re her poo and we have to get a sample - she did 3 last night in an hour and 3 again at 5 am - that can't be right?!

too tired to go through the thread in detail at the moment but hope you all are well

xx

Igglybuff · 03/02/2010 09:02

hi all, I've been away for ages and missing loads... Had a FB message from littlepea so i though I better come back. It's been very rough the last few weeks with William and his feeding - think it's been 5 weeks since he fed properly awake. Figured out it's finally my over active letdown which he doesn't like

I've just skimmed and seen a lot of news so will spend the day(s) reading, provided I don't fall asleep. I think we're going through the longest growth spurt ever (ruby I see things are still hard for you) and there is no end in sight!

Just seen mention of an April met - I'm in london so would love to come if poss.

Will be back soon.

rubyslippers · 03/02/2010 10:06

iggly - was thinking of you the other day and wondered how it was going

good to see you back and sorry things are still tough for you as well

x

Igglybuff · 03/02/2010 11:58

Hi ruby thanks DH claims we'll lookback one day and laugh but it certainly doesn't feel that way now!!!

I see a few are thinking of weaning - being a first timer, I wondered how do you start? I think I'm going to wait til 6 months but seeing as 4 months has flown by, I'm sure it'll be no time til W is ready!

I hope everyone is recovering from colds. I think W has had one non stop for weeks now... I got a cheap humidifier from amazon which helps at night.

now off to read some more!

HappyTangerine · 03/02/2010 13:42

devils - wonderful photos, the top one is so funny! Loved the one of you and your dad as well x

devilsadvocaat · 03/02/2010 14:09

thanks ht. i love that pic of us too (especially the 80s curtains, sofa and rug, lol).

charlie waking 2 x a night again and feeding a lot generally. think it's the 4 month growth spurt/wakeful thing. feeling ok so far

scout - have you got a webcam and skype? it's so great, my mum and stepdad use it to talk to people in usa all the time.

iggly - i keep meaning to get on with preparing some weaning food for the freezer as i know how quickly 6 months is coming round. thought i'd try and get ahead of myself (i bet i don't get around to it though)!

HappyTangerine · 03/02/2010 14:43

I am procrastinating and avoiding both the huge pile of ironing in the corner and my studies. Joe v clingy and grumpy today, woke up and immediately started chomping down on anything and everything to help his teething. We have the 3rd set of jabs tomorrow and a weigh in-not looking forward to either!

I have belatedly logged onto our facebook page and have been admiring all the photos and posted one of Joseph. Had to keep scolling down to remind myself who was who! Twinkle-I like your album idea.

Has anyone done baby signing before? When in publishing, one of my publishers brought out a book and I was fascinated (I am fascinated by all forms of language for some reason). I use the odd makaton sign with Joseph-way too early I know. Have signed up for a Sing and Sign class on the Wirral, starts April.

Its snowing again (sigh) so sick of snow.

littlepea72 · 03/02/2010 16:27

Iggly ive just sent you a FB message

Not having a very good day, very bad one to be honest, so i will be back on later when ive calmed down a bit

wibblydibs · 03/02/2010 17:02

I'm up north - Cumbria, so Edinburgh would work for Louis and I.

The little monkey is being so rubbish at night...am shattered. He is up 3 or 4 times a night at the moment - keep wondering what to do, too tired to do anything I think. Maybe he's teething, or maybe I should wean him...oh hell, I just don't flipping know! The girls are being good but they just wear me out bless them!

Fidelma what a relief!

Littlepea hope your day's improved.

HT I reckon sing and sign will be great fun, I've not used signing but I've friends who say it's v helpful.

Sorry, that's all I've managed to catch up on

Scout19075 · 03/02/2010 17:03

devilsadvocaat -- Don't have skype put would do if I thought my dad would install it for my mom. But he won't and has so much anti-virus software on the computer it's constantly hanging up, crashing and blocking common & safe websites. So I have o settle for sending them links to my FB photo albums and emailing pics I won;t post on FB (like the mandatory baby-in-the-bath photos).

HappyTangerine -- We're signed up on the waiting list for the next round of baby signing class. Hope to start in March. Ours is a five-week class locally. I have a friend at home who was a Deaf-Ed teacher and I remember a few signs from her, but am sure this will be completely different!

littlepea -- Hope your day is getting better.

I can't tell if BabyScout is getting better at daytime sleeping or if he's still jet-lagged, but (knock on wood) we've been having a good lazy day. I should be unpacking, doing the shopping, etc, but can't be bothered so have spent the day playing with the little man, reading stories and catching up on the computer and tv when he's sleeping (which seems to be often today and in decent chunks of 30-45 minutes at a crack).

princessmel · 03/02/2010 17:46

Hi all, no time to do a proper post but have added pics to the FB group.

Hope all ok.

Quickly 'yay'!!! to Fidelma
'hugs' to Littlepea
and 'Awwwww cute'!! to DA pics

F woke twice last night after months of one wake ....hmm...

Meant to be going to pub tonight with school mums, if F goes to sleep at a good time!!!

Igglybuff · 03/02/2010 17:57

Hey littlepea, hope all is well. Will check FB now!

HT signing sounds great - I'm going to try that too. Classes start for 3 months round here but I think they cover other stuff too first?

devils, sorry to hear about your dad - I hope things are ok.
Freezer prep sounds like a good idea. Will get DH on the case. I was hoping to try BLW but think I'll be too worried about gagging etc.

Treats which accountancy qualification are you doing? I did ACA. Where I trained is parent friendly if you're thinking of going back!

must go - I have a grabby baby requiring attention! Will do some more catch up later

wibblydibs · 03/02/2010 18:06

Scout my mum lives in Greece so we use skype alot - the girls love it (aged 4 and nearly 3) so maybe start working on your dad now and they might get it for when babyscout is older!

Princessmel can't tell you how jealous I am, would give anything for a girly night out - even just down the pub! No chance for a while I think

HappyTangerine · 03/02/2010 18:38

littlepea sorry to hear you've had such a rough day, hope your evening is better

I've just realised that its a year ago today that I found out I was pregnant! Happy memories. Expensive memories too-after 3 years f trying I did 9 tests, just to make sure!

Gotto go-online OU tutorial in 20 mins x

Scout19075 · 03/02/2010 18:43

HappyTangerine's happy memories make me wonder -- how far along was everyone when they found out they were pregnant? (Sorry if it's already been discussed pre-babies, but I only found this website after BabyScout's arrival.)

Igglybuff · 03/02/2010 18:57

scout I found out as early as I could using a super early test!

devilsadvocaat · 03/02/2010 19:23

ooh i KNEW i was pg at about 3 weeks. i passed out in the loo in the night. was too early to test though so i waited another week and tested, which was negative, waited after that weekend and was positive! but i already knew anyway so had avoided drinking when we had friend around. even doing shots of water when they did sambuca

littlepea - how are you?

the boys are both in bed now. they had a bath together this evening which was lovely. even though ds1 put bubbles all over charlie's face (he didn't mind). charlie was just grinning the whole way

iggly - i did a mixture of blw and mashed food. blw can be a bit messy/time consuming so i found it handy to have some mush too

fidelma · 03/02/2010 20:50

OK I can't find you all on Facebook (i have never done it before)can someone please explain where I find you all

I knew I was pregnant at 3 weeks. That makes for a long pregnancy

Looking good for an Edinburgh meet up, who eles is in and when shall we meet ?
