Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Tillyscoutsmum · 19/02/2010 11:21

That must be the key then - I need to have another half a dozen children and then it will be easier

I know the baby stage doesn't last long and I should be enjoying it (especially as he will be the last one) but I'm not . I love him to bits and he is beautiful and is so much better than he was (we even get some smiles - see profile pic !) but he is still such hard work. I seem to spend all day trying to get him to sleep because he will not go to sleep and gets overtired. I've tried shushing, patting, cuddling, feeding, sling, pushchair, car, swing, swaddling, just putting him down and leaving him, picking him up and dancing round the room and singing to him, keeping things quiet and dark and making sure there's loads of background noise. You name it, I've tried it but he fights it all the time. Drives me insane. And whilst I'm doing all this, poor Tils is getting no attention and is acting up horribly, the house is a shit hole and DH and I are arguing constantly. I'm just making a complete fecking hash of it

Anyway..... that was me not whinging

largeginandtonic · 19/02/2010 15:57

That's it Tills more children >

You poor love. Don't worry too much about Tills, she will be ok. She may watch a bit too much TV and eat a few too many packets of wotsits but really it doesn't matter.

What matters is you getting through the day anyway you can. Can you get a cleaner for a while just to take the pressure off you a bit? Even if all they do is the bathroom and kitchen. They were always the things i found i could not do one handedand they used to bother me the most.

Do you get out much? Visit everyone you know. They might occupy Tills and make you a cuppa. Sometimes just having someone else there is enough to make you feel a bit better.

I find i get trapped in the house and too fecking miserable to go out which makes me feel even more miserable... it's a crazy cycle. Even a walk?

Beau has one of these He loves itand it is soeasy for him to zoom around on. Great steering at the front so all they have to do is lean. It has revolutionised the school run, he scoots instead of nodding off in the buggy or kicking and screaming protesting as i strap him in because he is too damn slow.

Tills could scoot and you could shush the screaming boy.

Try everything. You have to doit for a few days though to see ifit works. 3 really if you can bare it.

Why don't you live closer?!

Tills, i totally feel your pain re toddler acting up!! Ella has turned into the devil child! Tantrums, screaching like she is being attacked, back chat, the list is endless!! I think it is harder for us to accept because she has been a lovely happy child for 2 and a half years and since Lucy's arrival 5 months ago she has slowly gone downhill . I just keep mumbling the thread's motto 'it's just a phase' just hope we & you come out the other side quickly x

Nothing massively exciting going on in Meadow world at the mo.. Lucy is now having a bottle every evening and managed to sleep thorough last night She had been having formula every night and then i would pop down stairs to pump what she had drunk, which is about 5-6oz.. I currently have about 18oz of ebm in the freezer . Tonight i have given her ebm and she guzzled 5.5oz which i am very pleased at..

How is everyone else?

Themasterandmargaritas · 21/02/2010 16:40

Jeeeeeeezzzzz I'm so feckin irritable. And I don't even have a baby to blame. And my mother is here.

It's that witching time of the month, I thought your tablets that you recommended had sorted it Tills but no it's pyscho time.

Dh has escaped for a week of travel.

Anyway, that's my whinge.

Tils, I second the getting out bit. I know it's not easy and it's raining, but even for a half hour. The not sleeping bit will be over soon. What about a teeny bit of you time also? An hour shopping on your own???

J is being very good just now, he just cries when he doesn't get his own way and also seems to have developed an auditory problem. I ask him to do something, he ignores it. In fact they all feckin well ignore me. So I now do 1-2-3 with getting to the 3 not getting the reward of bedtime story/tv/Benfeckin10 watch. He can then move pretty fast for a lardy toddler.

So Ginwoman, did you got to the House of SOH? See many sheep?

April sounds like you are becoming a culture vulture extraordinaire.

We are at the end of half term and have just spent the weekend away for FIL's 90th birthday, amazing to be that old. Me and the two bigger dc cycled through a national park, through zebras and impalas, what fun!

Pebble I hope the housing crisis will be sorted this week.

Charley, is dh getting out in all this snow? Tell him I am doing a half around the bottom of Kilimanjaro next Sunday. Total madness. We still need pics of H.

How is the pooch MrsJB? I bet the dc are having a ball.

largeginandtonic · 22/02/2010 07:57

TMAM i didn't make it to SOH's field It snowed heavil on Sat night. I am sick of the snow. Easter i am hoping we get up there. We have to wait for the big dc to go away as we can't fit in the car. It is blardy annoying.

We were supposed to be buying a new car this year but lawyer fees are sapping any free money we have

TMAM your ride through the park sounds amazing! Can you think happy thoughts while you are raging inside That would send me over the edge tbh. Can you go on the pill to regulate the hormones a bit? It works for my sister (also psychotic)

AM well done on the bf, i was useless at pumping with Blue. I just never found the time. She had f for her evening bottle.

I symapthise with youon evil Ella. As you know B started being awful last Easter. I have been hoping it is phase since then...alomost a year ago

The children are all back. The house is noisy and chaotic again, just how i like it

Tillyscoutsmum · 22/02/2010 09:43

TMAM - Tils has the auditory problem as well - I have been genuinely concerned she actually has something wrong with her hearing. She sometimes just looks blankly at me when I speak to her - even if I'm asking her something "nice" (would you like a drink, what do you want for tea, who did you play with at playschool type of questions). I've come to the conclusion its just another attention thing and her pretending to be a baby (she's also started goo goo ga ga type responses ). I'm assuming the right strategy is to ignore ?? Or indulge her ?? And not to scream at her to answer me properly which is what I often feel like doing (but don't I hasten to add !)

Sorry the PMT is bad. It did take a couple of months for the tablets to do anything and even then, some months were worse than others. I generally used to get one "good" month and then one bad. Its a horrible feeling though. I used to shut myself away and tear up pieces of paper into tiny pieces. I realise I'm making myself sound more than a teeny bit crazy but it really used to help

Very of your dog MrsJB - just gorgeous

AM - glad Lucy is back on form. We've started a bottle of F at night as well

So - we had our best night yet last night. Ferg did 10-2.30, then 3-6.30. He's still a royal pain in the evenings and we can't seem to get him to settle before 10 but we're seem to be getting somewhere.

My mother is off work this week and I have agreed to go round and leave them with her for an hour or so so that I can get away. I'm not entirely convinced its a great idea - my mum can drive me to distraction - but she offered and I could do with a break, so we'll give it a go. Watch this space Can't decide whether to just retreat to the nearest coffee shop with a trashy mag or go shopping or try and book a massage or something. The tax man is waiting for his money so I shouldn't really be spending much but........

AprilMeadow · 22/02/2010 11:05

We have that very same auditory problem in this house but both J&E have it!! The blank look pisses me off a treat especially as i know that if the words 'sweets' or 'chocolate' were mentioned that they would come running

Pebblemum · 22/02/2010 11:18

Tils go for the massage or retail therapy and tell the tax man it was either that or therapy bills/assylum fees lol so you went for the cheaper option allowing more money to be paid to him

TMAM im so jealous of your lifestyle, you always seem to be doing exciting things

LG&T where did it snow??? we didnt get any and we just down the road from you, well almost. glad your house is noisy and chaotic again

I think all kids suffer from selective hearing, you can talk loudly to them about something and they wont hear you yet whisper about things like the park and suddenly they can hear again. Drives me mad but i try not to show it otherwise they do it all the more

No news on the house front as yet, my housing officer seems to be avoiding my calls or when i do get through to him he has an excuse for not being able to tell us any more. Last Wednesday when i last spoke to him he said he had been off due to moving house and what hard work it was I told him it was lucky for some lol. We have got the council coming out tomorrow to wash the mould off of the walls so Im taking photos today so we still have proof how bad it was just in case they say that there was no problem to start with, wouldnt put anything past them.

Jordan has been sent an appointment through for Thursday to go to the Disablement Department of St Mary's hospital but it doesnt say what for. I know its to do with his legs/feet but im not sure if its to do with him getting a new 'boot' for at night or to discuss having his feet plastered. Hopefully its the plastering because I could do with being able to inform the school of when it will be done. Im hoping they will allow him to work from home so he doesnt have to struggle to anf from school

have to dash, just had phone call from school to say Jordan has fallen and has a nasty cut on his knee that may need stitches, bloody kids lol

Tillyscoutsmum · 22/02/2010 11:44

Pebble Hope Jordan is ok

Pebblemum · 22/02/2010 21:28

Jordan is fine thanks Tills. I got to the school to find him sat in a wheelchair looking thoroughly miserable, the teachers had covered the wound but decided I needed to see how bad it was I was more than happy to take their word for it but once they uncovered it i had to take a look. It was vile, like a clowns big grin, gaping right across the knee, bleurghh, so off to hopspital we went. They xrayed it then decided it needed stitches at which point Jordan was replaced by a snivelling little baby. He refused to let them stitch it, nothing anyone said would change his mind so they closed it up the best they could using steri strips but its not perfect, if it heals ok he will be left with a huge scar, its more like a gappy smile than a grin now. He has to rest it as much as possible because there is the risk the steri strips will come off and the wound open up wide again. He has to go to the drs in 10days for them to take the dressing off and see how it is healing unless his leg swells, becomes even more painful or develops a redness going up his thigh which would then mean a trip back to the hospital. I think he thought he would get sympathy from everyone but we all agree he was stupid not to let them stitch it, i understand why he was scared but by the time he had made all the fuss it could have been over and done with. I even offered him £1 a stitch (and he would have had quite a few) but even that couldnt persuade him. He did it playing football, he slipped up and landed on a bit of concrete with a bit sticking out so dh has said that he is going to be banned from playing football, rugby in fact anything that could result in another trip to A&E, i dont think hes managed a term at secondry school without being sent home with an injury

SKYTVADDICT · 23/02/2010 16:25

Hi everyone.

Been lurking and reading everyones news but havent had much to say.

Having to postpone our wedding plans. DPs job not looking good - may be redundant from end March and I am still looking for mindees so can't really justify speding on a wedding. We will do it eventually though.

DD1 hurt her knee on the ski trip and only got to ski 3 days out of 6. She did like it though and we very disappointed. Just twisted but hurst a lot apparently.

I am going on an Assessment and Record Keeping course tonight and tomorrow night - how exciting!

JamInMyWellies · 23/02/2010 21:00

Keep meaning to read and catch up but seem to be spending all my time cleaning up poo. Will have some proper mumsnet time in the next couple of days.

Pebblemum · 23/02/2010 22:31

Evening all

Sky, sorry to hear your bad/sad news. Im sure that when you get round to doing it, it will feel all the more special because you wont be worrying about using money that is needed elsewhere.

I actually managed to see my housing officer today He showed me a fax that his manager had sent through to Housing Options stating that we need to be made top priority for a move, it detailed all the history of the problems we have had. Apparantly we should hear from them this week to inform us of what happens next but we are looking to be moved within the next 4 weeks. How true that is, we will just have to wait to see but after being let down so much by them lately i wont be holding my breath. Im not even going to rush into packing anymore, would rather have a mad panic to do it than get all organised and then let down at the last minute

Jordan's leg isnt too bad today, it aches where he has been resting it and its itching under the bandage but he hasnt been complaining too much. Think he's enjoying being waited on lol

largeginandtonic · 24/02/2010 11:10

Sky that is terrible news about dp What will he look for? Hope you have some good luck soon. Poor dd missing out on the skiing after all that too!

Lets hope you get a few mindees and bump up the funds soon.

Pebble awful for J, glad he is on the mend. Hope the housing people come through for you. Fingers and toes crossed.

Jammy Thank you, thank you for my most gorgeous ss pressie. It is just what i would have picked myself! So lovely. I am going to get the other 7 disks too I have it on already!

If you want a laugh then go to the multiples thread. I have posted the mum of the year link. Ruby has one the haiku comp and is panicking, i am reassuring her it will be fine... Good lord above. It is embarrasing.

SKYTVADDICT · 25/02/2010 14:07

DP is a lorry driver and thinks he should be able to get something somewhere.

I had to postpone my first prospective parent today! L is not at all well - hi temps and D&V. She is supposed to be coming Monday but DD1 shouted at C when I was on the phone to her postponing. He was washing his hands and put the plug in and turned on the tap in the downstairs loo and flooded it! She shouted "you naughty boy" which the parent most definitely heard so I would not be surprised if she cancelled. DD1 is in the dog house!

Good luck with the house Pebble and hi to everyone else.

Lewis currently asleep again on the lounge floor. Oh the joys - I am hoping to God that the rest of us don't get it!!

JamInMyWellies · 25/02/2010 14:39

Oh SKY what a nightmare poor you guys. If the mum has any sense she will realise you have a house of children and these things happen. Hope something turns up for your DP and that Lewis gets better soon.

LG&T really glad it arrived its not the same as the original one which got lost in the post but its very similar. If you want to get more discs this is where I got it from.

Pebble I hope Jordan is feeling better today. Sounds like your house thing might be a goer. Good Luck!

Tilly have you left the DC with your mum yet. I really hope you have managed to have a wee rest. I say go for the massage.

AM was nosying at the pics of Lucy on FB she is such a gorgeous wee thing.

MrsJB that dog looks fab. Hows it going obviously dont come to me for any advice on puppy training I have the most disobediant dog in the world. After his poo escapades on Monday yesterday he went rabbit hunting during his walk and buggered off for 30 mins then when he caught up with me threw himself in the stream as he was so hot and thirsty so then had a soaking wet stinky dog all day.

TMAM hows the running?

Where is everyone????????

So fairly typical week here in the Jam household dog being a royal pain in the arse. Lachlan waking a gazillion times a night, Archie tantrumming with his own very special brand of selective hearing, need I go on!

Some good news though Archie seems to have finally cracked potty training. Hurrah.

SO suppose I had best crack on , hoovering, washing, cleanign of toilets cooking of meals. God this SAHM lark is all glam glam glam isnt it?!

largeginandtonic · 25/02/2010 19:30

I can top that Jam. Have oyu been pulling nits out of hair yet?

God it is utter shite at times. I was actually glad to get out in the rain to do the school run this avo

Sky oh no! At leat she didn't shout 'oyu little bugger' which if she had been listening in our house may have been what she heard!

Hope the dreaded bug stays away from the rest of you.

Jammy lets go on holiday.

JamInMyWellies · 25/02/2010 20:15

Oh god yes please LG&T.

Just had a barney with DH he was going out for drinks so I ate with the boys and now there is nothing for his tea. Bloody fecker. He is pissed at me as I have been in a vile mood all day. Apparantly I am not allowed to be grumpy at how utterly rubbish it is listening to Archie scream all day then have to throw anither dinner in the composter as he refused to eat. ............ and on and on and on. God I bore myself with my dull drudgery and grumpiness.

JamInMyWellies · 25/02/2010 20:21

just noticed the nits hmmmmm luverly.

largeginandtonic · 25/02/2010 21:11

Bet she is busy. It is short notice.

OP posts:
largeginandtonic · 26/02/2010 09:51

Mil can do it.

Am in flat panic! Must get a grip. I need an OUTFIT.

OP posts:
JamInMyWellies · 26/02/2010 10:08

Wow, how exciting! Where are you going what sort of outfit do you need? I have a wedding dress floating around if you want to borrow it.

I have just witnessed my neighbour being an absolute knob. We live down a small lane 5 houses dead end. As I left to take A to nursery this morning walking down the lane to the gate at the end a car was driving up. He clearly drove up by mistake asked me for directions to somewhere else in the village. I went through the gate and heard my neighbour come screaming out of his house what the F are you doing driving down here its private (it's not) how dare you turn around immediatly reverse and get out!!! Honestly these poor guys were lost and were looking for the village school. It has made me very unsure now about walking down that way and using the gate to get to nursery.

largeginandtonic · 26/02/2010 11:20

Wedding dress may be a bit posh Would be too small to

What a knob he was! That scares me, why be so horrid? What is wrong with people sometimes.

I am looking for a skirt (have new kitten heel duo boots, calf length) and a not clingy at all top OR a sweater dress type affair.

OH GOD am so excited.

OP posts:
Pebblemum · 26/02/2010 11:32

We've just been offered 2, yes 2 properties to look at next week!!!!! They are both gf maisonettes and are 3 bed with dining room and not 4bed but they are still a lot bigger than what we have got now and are just round the corner

Its funny that we were offered it today though as all week Ive jinxed myself. Monday I joked with a neighbour that she would get a call from school and it was me that got it when J hurt his leg, then yesterday I joked how E was bound to come out of school muddy as he was going round a friends straight away and an older boy splashed him with muddy water just as he walked across the playground so today I told DH that we were going to be offered a house and then 2hrs later our housing officer knocks the door to tell us about these properties Tonight Im going to win big on the euro lottery lol

Pebblemum · 26/02/2010 11:34

Great news about you getting away LG&T, hope you have a great time and make the most of other people doing the cooking, cleaning etc lol

Jam {shock} at your neighbour. Is he always a miserable git like that or did he just get out of bed the wrong side today?? Bet the people in the car wont get lost again lol
