I'm definitely not going to name myself stars and stripes! ahh! stars and stripes would imply a sort of person that I am definitely not. Sorry, 50ft. Lovely suggestion... but can't go there

StarExpat · 12/11/2009 12:19

oh and Q has been sleeping 3-4 hours every day this week. He starts his nap anywhere between 10 and 11am. He's dropped the afternoon nap but will sometimes snooze in the car for 5 min on the way home (it's a 10 min drive).

StarExpat · 12/11/2009 12:23

what time do you all (and babies) normally wake up? on a typical day.... for the day? Not when baby wakes for an hour or half hour then goes back down, but wake for the day? Just curious. We're usually out of bed by 6am . A lot of days it's 5.30/5.45 but he's been sleeping more until 6 or 6.15 lately (but on weekdays I have to be up by 5.45am anyway to get everything sorted and get myself and Q ready).
Weekends sometimes it's 5.30 or 6 again but sometimes I can keep him in bed and get him to sleep with me until 7ish and on the rare occasion, later.

CantSleepWontSleep · 12/11/2009 12:45

Ds tends to get up between 7 and 7:30 on a 'normal' day star. He's often woken by dd being up and about.

He slept through roughly 7-7 last night .

Poor ds has a bloody nose. He fell over the front of a thomas ride on and smacked into another ride on on his way to the floor at toddler group . First time I've had to give him a feed to comfort an injury I think.

M wakes up ready for the day anywhere between 5.30 and 7.45! It depends on what mood she's in and how good the night has been. This morning it was 5.45. She was still tired but refused to give in when I tried to get her back to bed.

CSWS - Oh I am so jealous of the sleeping! I suppose you really need it at the moment though, but still. M woke up three times last night and wouldn't settle by herself. Poor D with his bumped nose. I've had to give M two injury related feeds but they were both when she was much smaller.

M has started to walk more when covering short distances. She might actually be walking by the time she's 3!

Yay for N's weight!
I always noticed with anaemia that when my iron levels were way down I'd lose loads of weight and when they were up I'd gain (but in a healthy way)... then when I eat a lot I gain more or when I stop eating and then eat the smallest morsel metabolism slows.

Q cuddles in so close when I pick him up after an injury. I love how he cuddles in so much now But I don't like the injuries!

StarExpat · 12/11/2009 17:46

Ok please reassure again. After those several falls and head bumps last night, Q slept from 10.30am-2.30pm today - and had to be woken at 2.30 to come and see me!! He ate a bit. He just vomited a tiny bit.

50ftQueenie · 12/11/2009 18:05

Hmm..... I'd be a bit worried about the vomiting tbh Star. How tiny is a tiny bit? Was it indigestion? Sometimes M does a bit of sick when she's eaten too quickly. If you're worried call the OOHS and speak to a doctor, NHS direct will probably be over cautious, but you could try them if you'd prefer. I always over reacted when it came to head injuries with ds when he was little.

He vomited twice more within 10 minutes. So I called NHS direct and they told me to go get him seen. I took him into A&E (the children's A&E is so much nicer than the adult wing!!). They've checked him over quite thoroughly. They said to watch him over the next few days. if he vomits again, call back - same if he gets overly drowsy..etc. I was also worried because of his 4 hour nap today and that he needed waking even after 4 hours .
They also said for the next 3-4 days, don't give him sweets, chocolate or fizzy drinks they obviously don't know who they are talking to!

StarExpat · 12/11/2009 21:29

It was sick that was sort of clear with lots of little food chunks in it. It was gross.

50ftQueenie · 12/11/2009 22:39

He's probably picked up a bug, which made him drowsy and clumsy yesterday & is now tired & sick with it today. They like to scare us they really do. DS used to do that breath holding thing when he hurt himself. It was almost impossible to get him to start breathing again. On one occasion he went all floppy and blue round the mouth. We threw cold water on his face which made him breath in but bloody hell that was scary. All because he fell over and hurt his knee.....

50ftQueenie · 12/11/2009 22:41

Oh meant to say, hope Q feels better soon whatever is ailing him. And make sure you stop giving him sweets and coke! We know that's all you feed him.

Honeymoonmummy · 12/11/2009 23:27

Hey all, why have we moved to a new thread when there was 10 pages to go on the old one?

I forgot to say in my post that noone read that Poppy can now walk with one hand held, as of the last 3 days. She doesn't seem to have the confidence to do it alone yet tho.

Yes Ronshar, I am feeling brighter, thanks.

50ft, that's rather scary re your DS. Star, I'm glad you took him to put your mind at rest, hope he feels better soon.

I went back to the gym today for the first time in 2 months Well my knees were hurting me again but TBH they've been better for about a month now.

You should be able to get a physio referral no problem 50ft, if you feel up to it you could also get the GP prescription fitness like I do.

New thread was explained in our posts that you didn't bother to read on the last thread hmm - MamaG's ancient computer can't cope with long threads, and she's trying to keep up now.

Hope Q's feeling brighter now star.

Star, I hope that Q is on the mend?

Just a quick one this morning to ask if anyone wants a lovely sink & toilet with flowers on it - beautiful pink roses all over, even down inside the toilet bowl . We are finally getting one of our bathrooms ripped out and replaced, but the sink & toilet are ceramic (heritage brand I think) and we were thinking of selling them on ebay or something as apparently there are people who like this style. We will be able to console ourselves for the loss of this masterpiece as there is still the toilet & sink in our ensuite and the downstairs toilet left, both of which also have flowers all over .

I am slightly irritated though as the bath that has been put in isn't what I thought we'd agreed. When I read the specs it is what is written down, but I was going on the picture . Dh who is much more north american forthright in his approach has complained and so I think we may get the one I wanted after all. I'm feeling rather bad now as the poor guy who did all the hard work installing it is now going to have to re-do stuff. Still, I suppose the amount its costing us, we do want to get it right.

StarExpat · 13/11/2009 09:30

As it turns out, DH was picking him up and tossing him about, upside down...etc.
Q seems fine today. I think he is coming down with another bug. ugh.
He was coughing again this morning. yuck. that horrid barking cough. We don't smoke, we feed him healthy foods, have a clean home for him, let him socialize with other kids and be around germs so his immune system builds up... and he's getting all these colds! wtf?

Ekka · 13/11/2009 09:33

Oh, star - that wasn't meant to be a dig at Americans & Canadians, I just think that in general you expect a higher level of customer service and aren't afraid of pointing out if you don't get it. Much better than me, typical reserved Brit, who would rather not cause a scene . I love having a Canadian husband to make complaints for me

Myjob, W can free stand and has done for nearly two months. However he wont walk on his own. If I try to make encourage him he very carefully gets hold of both of my hands and wraps his little fingers tightly round mine and then sets off at a very sedate pace. I am sure that when we are not looking he is running around the place

Star is that your first injury related visit to a&e? If so well done. Get used to it because as Q is male you will be there alot. Dont be too shocked if you get a call from the HV as they are informed of every a&e visit by a child. It is routine and absolutely nothing to worry about. It does sound like a bug. My house has been full of it for weeks. Except me.

W has had another shit night. I swear because it is driving me mental again. Can somebody please tell me why he doesnt sleep? The girls sleep so why cant he? This week he has had one good nights sleep. One I mean thats ridiculous. Last night idiot DH went in to him at about 4.30, (I was sick of it by then) all went quite then a few minutes later in he strolls W in his arms and gets into bed. I know full well it is because he thinks that W will only want me so DH can go back to sleep again. Great. So I get kicked, slapped, fingers up my nose, my hair pulled and shoved to the edge of the bed. Eventually I give in and feed him around 5.30 and then he goes straight back to his own bed. What a nightmare.
I dont know how you co sleepers do it. I would go crazy.

ronshar · 13/11/2009 09:47

Ekka a new bathroom, marvlous. I cant believe you dont want to keep the flower ensemble, it sounds lovely

Myjob ouch for the boosters. Have you told DS or are you leaving it for a surprise?

Star there is such a thing a too clean environment. Thats why I dont clean my house too often. Its for the benefit of the childrens immune sysytems. Honestly.

StarExpat · 13/11/2009 09:49

lol to W running around when you're not looking

good luck with the jabs myjob

Yes, This is my first a&e visit (I think) for Q.

When Q comes into bed if he wakes up too early, it isn't restful for me at all. Same scenario you're describing.
Is W getting a big tooth? Is he growing? Is a cough keeping him up?
Or, maybe he just wants to see how far he can push until you're admitted to the looney bin
