Great news on the job STW - hopefully will make your life a whole lot easier and mean you get more lovely quality time with S and O.

SilveryMoon · 14/01/2010 14:43

Well done STW

Luke's fine today

mumoverseas · 14/01/2010 18:38

congratulations on the job STW sounds ideal in terms of locality, travel and hours. How do you feel about working with your DH though?

I should be in bed (our 9.30pm and we get up early compliments of the kids) Normal office hours here start at 7am so we are normally up at 6am. Bloody neighbours however are having a very loud party in their garden and my bedroom is at the back of the house. Knowing them, it will go on verrryy late. I wish I was like DH and could sleep through anything but I'm a really light sleeper. H farting would wake me up

DD can't go to sleep either as her bedroom backs onto their house (semi) and when I just snuck downstairs she was sitting in her bed singing.

oooggs · 14/01/2010 19:49

Silverymoon - glad Luke is ok

MOS - love the idea of DD singing in bed even though she should be asleep & great for ds1 and his law stuff - lucky boy

STW - fab news - hope the letter went well

dinky - hope 'good sleep' is resumed soon

ST - hope A is on the road to recovery

katie - hope you managed a huge snowman when dd came home

swampster - I love watching our 4 play together, the older 3 run away from Luke and hide under the table, he just laughs and crawls off after them - them chanting 'the Lukey shark is coming' - bless!

littlesez · 14/01/2010 22:54

quick post then off to bed [yawn] wanted to just say I dont say no to izzy becasue she just laughs at me when i do

aww poor luke, izzy has been very lucky only been sick sick once yes its awful when its real sick notjust milk.

stw congrtas!

back soon xxx

SilveryMoon · 15/01/2010 08:09

Morning.
izzy yes, Luke laughs too when I say 'no' but he is now at the stage where he at least thinks twice before putting his hand in the litter tray! We're getting there lol.

dinkystinky · 15/01/2010 10:10

Littlesez - Danny also likes to laugh and wait till he thought I was looking away and try to do it again when I say no. I blame his father's genes...

Hope everyone is well and ready to have a lovely -and hopefully snow free - weekend.

mumoverseas · 15/01/2010 15:26

we are having a snow free weekend

DH a bit short and snappy today but am putting it down to the fact that DD and DS have been a nightmare today. DD up very late last night then up around 7.30am and didn't have her normal 1 1/2 to 2 hour sleep today and even H hasn't napped today so the pair of them are evil

Hope everyone ok and all the sicky babies are getting better.

mumoverseas · 15/01/2010 18:58

by the way, where is nkweto? I hope you are ok x

dinkystinky · 15/01/2010 19:09

Sigh. Danny has managed to get into the kitchen today, turn the gas on the cooker on (damn those tall genes he gets from DH) AND break his way through a child proof lock into a crockery cupboard and break a glass. The child is a one- mini-man force of chaos and destruction... DS1 was, in hindsight, a pretty chilled docile little baby who liked to explore (as opposed to seek and destroy).

Sorry to hear DD2 and DS2 are being little buggers MOS - hopefully they'll be so knackered they sleep well tonight for you and DH.

Suspect Nkweto is busy sorting her move back out - saw a post she had out re au pairs recently.

mumoverseas · 15/01/2010 19:36

oh dear dinky, in fact H got into the kitchen today but only managed to pull all the tins of tuna and spaghetti hoops out of a cupboard and was sitting happily playing with them when I caught him.
Thankfully DD fell asleep very early on and H eventually settled at around 8pm thank god.

Glad nkweto is doing ok, was a bit worried I'd not 'seen' her around

LittleMissNorty · 15/01/2010 21:54

Hi guys

Off to catch up but wanted to mark my place

Had a really fucking awful business trip to Frankfurt starting with my seat being given to someone else, getting to Heathrow at 10.30am Wednesday and arriving in hotel 2.30am Thursday, being given the wrong key / room number and waking up some poor, poor woman at 2.45am trying to get into her room (I must have scared the shit out of her), getting 3 and a half hours in bed before getting up to get ready for cab pick-up at 8 and then concentrating looking down a microscope all day, before the hairy 2 hour journey back to the airport (nutty driver is the understatment of the year), my poor friend being frisked, bags out, the lot twice and nearly missing the plane home as a result! I've just eaten my first proper meal since Tuesday night! Who said all expenses paid business trips were jollies?

To top it all when I saw DD this morning and asked her for a cuddle she cried and said "I want nanny"

Oh well, a decent sleep tonight and I shall be a different person tomorrow

LittleMissNorty · 15/01/2010 22:00

Well done on the new job STW

How did the resignation go?

SilveryMoon · 16/01/2010 07:52

What a f88king night. Don't think any of us got any sleep at all. Luke was sick again and Jacob's got a temp and was up all night.
Luke's just gone back to bed and Jacob doesn't quite know what he's doing

mumoverseas · 16/01/2010 08:46

SM we had a night like that. DD and DS both tired after a bad night on Thursday and no naps yesterday and DD came barging in at 2.45am waking me up, bounced around in bed for 10 mins then decided she wanted to sleep in my bed. H then woke up and came in(dumped on me by DH) at 3.15am and I didn't get the little shit/bugger back to sleep. He damm well better sleep after his lunch in a bit
Hope L & J are better soon x

katieblirdsnest · 16/01/2010 11:59

lmn that sounds like a trip from hell. hope you've recovered and dd is welcoming you back now. i've found my dd tends to sort of ignore me for a little while if i've been away on a trip but soon bounces back into 'mummeeeeee' mode.

sm and mos hope you have a better day and night tonight and dinky i know it's not much fun for you but makes me laugh the idea of danny being such a terror. I is definitely more into things than dd ever was, i found him browing the dvd cupboard this morning when my back was turned for a moment...i don't think dd has ever looked in there!

dp is out with dd at a 5 year old's party so i'm having a lovely, just me and I, morning. went to the farmer's market where a poor man was being given gas and air by some ambulance men/women as he'd broken his ankle...brought back all sorts of labour memories.

SweetTalkinWoman · 16/01/2010 13:45

I found Sam half way up the stairs this morning - didn't even know he could climb them . Sounds like you are having a lovely morning KBN! Not a bad one here, DH is out on his trail bike (I'm not feeling sorry for him in the rain ) so Sam, DD and I went into Kingston just to get Sam some wellies so he can play outside at nursery, and ended up spending loads in the ELC on arts and crafts. Also had to get some 12-18 month vests & PJs for Sam - he's a porker!!

What an awful trip LMN I hope you have recovered now? How's DD now? I get a bit hmmmm sometimes because DD refers to the childminder as "Mummy Laura" - then I remind myself that it means we've got great child care!!! How is you daughter at mealtimes now? I think it was you who started a thread a while ago? We are having similar probs with DD now (2.5) - just wondered how long this phase might last...

Dinky at Danny turning on the gas cooker! Is there anywhere safe in the house?!?! How is the sleep at the moment? Hope you are getting a few more hours.

MOS and SM - hope your little ones are ok and giving you a bit of a rest now?

I'm now working my month's notice period which feels great! They were lovely at work, and said if it doesn't work out at the new place, they'd have me back in a flash. Tried to offer more money which was a bit tempting, but nothing they can do about the location of the office, which is main thing. Working with DH will hopefully be okay - he's out of the office lots, I'm only in 3 days a week ... We will make it work because of all the positives.

Better go now - am sitting on bed with DD watching In the Night Garden, Sam asleep in cot - all is peaceful .... for now.

Happy weekend!

SnowTulips · 16/01/2010 15:30

A has had a raging fever and random puking since wednesday he seems a bit better today but he still won't be put down for even 10 seconds so i've had him virtually glued to me for days. getting feck all study or housework done.

STW... congrats sounds like an offer too good to refuse, well done on getting the job

LMN.... ouch hope you've recovered from that nightmare trip.

STW... dd is 5 next week and meals are still a disaster so don't count on it being a phase unfortunately.

we've found A at the top of the stairs a few times... really must pick up a stairgate for the bottom so he can't get up

SilveryMoon · 16/01/2010 15:54

ST Luke's been sick a few times since wednesday too. Plus he seems to have a bit of the runs. Hope it passes soon.

Jacob's temp has been over 39 all day. He looks awful

I have to get myself back to the docs too, I'm still getting lots of aches and pains in my joints and am feeling really drained.
Dp thinks I might be diabetic. They checked my blood-sugar levels, it was 7.9 but don't know what it's supposed to be, but assume that's ok because they haven't done anything.....I think I'm low on iron and just need some vitamins

So if these boys don't perk up tomorrow, it's a long booking at the docs on monday.

dinkystinky · 16/01/2010 16:34

Afternoon all. LMN - sorry you had such a godawful business trip - hope you get a nice chilled weekend with your family now to make up for it. SM and ST -sorry your little ones are ill - and that you're still feeling ill SM (lack of sleep makes you feel 10 times worse if you're feeling even slightly ill so hopefully the boys will sleep tonight and you'll feel better) - hope you all get better soon. STW - sounds like a nice time was had in Kingston. Danny developed the knack of climbing stairs about a month ago - but is still trying to come down them like a lemming (.i.e. head first) so we have the stairgate on for him. He is a terror - but very cute with it - into absolutely everything (MOS - his favourite cupboard in our kitchen used to be the food cupboard but as we dont say no to him when he opens it he's no longer interested ) and will doubtless be beating up his brother in no time at all (he's already managed to topple DS1 several times by trying to pull himself up on him). Definitely blaming it all on DH's genes...

KBN - sounds like you've had a lovely time with I today. Glad to hear Danny is not the only one who likes exploring random cupboards.

STW - DS1 went through a prolonged tricky eater phase (still not the best in the world). Have just massively revised my expectations down and he's got better all of a sudden at eating (growth spurts I suspect) so just serve up what you want O to eat, if she doesnt eat it dont comment -if she tries it praise her - and remember this too will eventually pass ...

Right off to do some tea for the boys.

SweetTalkinWoman · 16/01/2010 21:10

If anyone fancies a giggle (if you are home alone like me!!!) there's a thread in Chat "In my pant" - very funny!!

oooggs · 16/01/2010 21:19

STW - very good and made me chuckle - as home alone again too, but dh on backs this week so will be home just after midnight

off to bed now (will catch up tomorrow) as Luke was dreadful last night, bed at 6.30pm (which is normal) then awake crying/screaming from 7.30pm - 10.45pm. During that time he had calpol & nurofen and eventually cried himself to sleep by 11pm. This morning found 2 huge back teeth - bless him

Spottyshoes · 17/01/2010 01:43

Hullo everyone! Have been reminising the good old times from this time last year! Especially on our FB group page! Can you remember there was a lady who popped on our thread and said "just crashing in from Feb 2008....." Can you believe Feb 2010'er are about to pop???? am feeling a bit nostalgic and want to pop into their thread!!!

Am not doing too well atm, have all the symptoms I had for Cancer last time so been for some tests and am awaiting several results but not feeling too positive as have same feelings before. DH is not well and has to face several ops, kids are being shites - so much so I think I may have PND - am struggling to determine whether it is that or no sleep and lots of stress!!?? Plus I turn 30 on Wed which must be an added Arrrrghhh without knowing it.

Oooohhh what a happy first proper post in several weeks

dinkystinky · 17/01/2010 08:48

Oh spotty (((hugs))) and (((medicinal fig vodka))) coming in your direction my lovely. Sorry you're having such a shite time -am sure the kids are picking up on the stress you and DH are having due to ill health and acting up as a result. Hopefully you'll get your results soon - and really hope they'll be all clear - which will remove one level of stress and hope your DH ops go ok and he gets better soon. I think 2010 is shaping up to be an even crapper year than 2009 so far - had 3 family members die this month (uncle and great uncle and great aunt over in India - not close to any of them but they're all on mum's side and she was really close to them and so is in pieces the poor woman) - am hoping its just a crappy January blip and the rest of the year will just get better from here on in.

Oooggs - poor Luke but hurrah that those evil back teeth came through so quickly.

mumoverseas · 17/01/2010 08:48

spotty I hope everything is ok and that the tests turn out ok. Must be really stressful time for you at the moment.
You may well have PND. I actually had it but was only really diagnosed a few weeks ago and but on ADs. Think it started off as PND and then got worse when mum died and I had all the crap with DH.
On the plus side, you are ONLY 30! not an old hag of 42 like me seriously though, talk to your Gp and hopefully he/she will take you seriously and go through the 'depression questionnaire' with you. Also, if you are tired as little darlings playing up at night, that will make feel worse too.

My youngest two seem to be conspiring so that if its not one waking me at night its the other. DD came crashing in and woke me up at 1am this morning then DS at around 4am.

LMN what a nightmare trip, I missed that when I read posts before. Bet you are glad to be home. I'm sick of travelling now too.

Hope all other sickly ones are feeling a bit better today x
