that's lovely LBB, I'm afraid it wasn't me who nominated you but i'm glad someone did

drinkystinkyuletidegubbins · 11/12/2009 20:03

Sorry havent been on much - evil work computer kept swallowing my big catch up posts (in fact any post of more than about 6 sentences) so have managed to post on other boards but not here.

Anyway - hope everyone who is ill is getting better/has ill little ones that are better now. STW and Littlesez - I'm with you on the wanting a new job but remember from when I went back after DS1 it took me a while to get back into the swing of things and juggling life with child and work and then suddenly clicked so here's hoping it all magically gets easier come the new year.

KBN - sorry your panto experience was so pants. I find they are totally hit or miss.

Tulips (if I do your initials it comes out as TAT ) - is there a claires accessories near you. They often have cheap and cheerful hello kitty stuff.

LBB - at the playgroup people - I'd be fed up with them too. As long as Luke is eating his food off a clean surface does it really matter if its the plate or the table? Lovely that you've been nominated for the christmas thing.

LMN - 2 hours to see santa . I'd expect him to give me the contents of his entire sack after that!! As I expected the selfridges santa photos of DS1 and DS2 never turned up in the post so am now going to go into battle to get a refund - truly rubbish. Westfield Santa all the way from hereon in... Though bizarrely the best santa experience I've ever been to with DS1 was in a garden centre in Worksop when he was 1 - it was pirates of the carribean themed and absolutely hilarious.... You could probably just about drive there in around 2 hours if you go at the right time.

Wanted to say loads more but have forgotten it all now. Anyone else found their memory has got more and more rubbish the more kids they have? If I carry on to 3 as hoped will probably have difficulties remembering my own name...

Looking forward to a nice family day tomorrow -am taking the boys to see Jellybean Jack (panto/kids theatre) at the Roundhouse tomorrow morning - should be good - then swimming (for the first time in weeks for them both) in the afternoon as their colds have finally subsided enough to risk it...

katieblirdsnest · 11/12/2009 21:22

lbb how lovely that you've been nominated.

dinky you're back! and with wise words as ever...that clicking back in to work thing is so true and has just happened to me since this return to work. in fact my boss emailed me this afternoon to say i was 'on top form'. it really had felt like i was operating through a bit of a fuzz before but suddenly it's all clicked back into place.

dp is becoming a godparent tomorrow (heaven knows what possessed the parents of the poor girl!). i was hoping to take both kids swimming on sunday morning but dp is out and i don't think i'm allowed to take both of them on my own so that's another week missed...the heating in our local pool has been broken for the previous few weeks. ah well, we'll get back into it after the christmas madness.

i hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

i wish

dp has announced he's gotten me a surprise present for xmas.... much as i'd love a surprise i'm rather nervous after the birthday incident lord knows what it is!

mumoverseas · 13/12/2009 14:36

'birthday incident'? Do tell, don't remember that?
I'd love a suprise for xmas/birthday but know it will be the 'usual' black handbag and bubblebath (DD went shopping with DH on Thursday and afterwards told me 'we bought you a bag but don't tell daddy its a secret'

Hope everyone else is doing ok and having a nice relaxing weekend. Where have a lot of people gone? Swampy and MS?

littleboyblue · 13/12/2009 15:58

Hello, I'm here. Not done much this weekend, but have felt busy iyswim......
Nothing interesting to share really.

littleboyblue · 13/12/2009 15:59

Actually, I do have something interesting to share. Luke finally started crawling on thursday!!!!!!
He still prefers to slither across the floor, but gives the crawling a go every now and then.

mumoverseas · 13/12/2009 16:08

hi LBB I was starting to wonder if you were holding a saucy knicker party
Fab news about Luke
H has been crawling for a few months now and is walking around the furniture all the time so very advanced in that department but still has NO TEETH!

I'm going to be really busy over the next few days. DD's nursery closes on Wednesday so need to get all the Christmas presents wrapped up before then otherwise they will never get done. (DH of course doesn't know how to use sellotape)

Am starting to really panic at the thought of not getting home to DC1 and 2 due to the threat of BA striking. If they do we are stuffed as the travel agents will be closed here for a few days.

WewishyouaNORTYxmas · 13/12/2009 19:42

I'm here (just about) as well.

Good news about Luke LBB. My DS is getting very fast and its scary. Lots of babies have no teeth at this ago MOS....you wait, they'll all come together

We went here yesterday. It was DD's first trip on a train and she loved it. Cleverly, Show me Show me yesterday morning was all about trains, which put her in the mood. She had such a grin on her face and was SO gobsmacked when Santa said how pleased he was she was eating all her dinner . SO much better than last weeks awful experience. This is what Christmas is all about

Where are the Xmas smileys?

We don't do Xmas pressies between me and DH here - its rarely a surprise.

How lovely you've been nominated for the Xmas appeal LBB

drinkystinkyuletidegubbins · 13/12/2009 20:09

Hi all - busy weekend here. Danny is a teething monster at the moment so sleep is in short supply. MOS - DS1 didnt get his first tooth till after his first birthday and he coped with teething miles better than Danny...

LMN - love the xmas name - glad you had a nice santa experience. I love the look of that santa train - glad you had a good one.

Tulips - fingers crossed DP has upped his game after your birthday experience....

MOS - sorry your DH's imagination is rather limited when it comes to xmas presents. Hope the BA strikes are averted so you make it home to see DS1 and DD1 shortly after xmas.

littleboyblue · 14/12/2009 01:23

mos Men, hey. Good luck with the wrapping. I still haven't even bought anything! Suppose I should get on that really
Oh, and Jacob didn't get his first tooth until he was 10 months, sure it's perfectly normal to be waiting for them at this age.
lmn You should see Luke dragging himself up the floor to get around. He is very quick, but where he keeps 1 arm under his chest, he always headbutts the floor. Is quite funny until he hits it hard

drinkystinkyuletidegubbins · 14/12/2009 13:37

That sounds like proper commando crawling LBB

Where is everybody else? All busy moving house???

mumoverseas · 14/12/2009 15:10

I'm here sobbing into my laptop dinky
Those twunts at BA (bastard airlines) have just voted to strike for 12 days over Christmas from 22nd Dec to 2nd Jan. I'm due to fly on 27th and have already been told when made enquiries yesterday that they won't refund but will put on next available flight! (6 days later at earliest)

Anyone near LHW and can pick up DCs1 and 2 who will potentially be waiting there for me for up to 6 days?

TulipsAndTinsel · 14/12/2009 16:12

oh no mos is there no way they can transfer you to another airline?

littleboyblue · 14/12/2009 16:39

mos That's awful!!!!!!! Wankers. (what's LHW?)

I've been christmas shopping today. I got ds1 a keyboard with seat and microphone, his friend M a play kitchen, his friend H an ITNG activity pack, his friend J a remote control car, J and H older sister a perfume lab thingy and all for £60! What bargains.

WewishyouaNORTYxmas · 14/12/2009 16:46

Oh MOS Fingers crossed they sort it out before Xmas. Are there no alternatives?

LBB - sounds good. Is that from ELC? My DD loved the display keyboard and stool and entertained the whole shop whilst I shopped . btw, DS crawled with one arm underneath himself for a few weeks before getting up onto his hands and knees. Sweet isn't it?

mumoverseas · 14/12/2009 16:59

PT/TAT Yesterday when we asked what would happen if they did carry out the threat of strikes we were told that they woudln't transfer us as they are not linked to any other airlines out this way.

LBB, sorry, meant LHR (Heathrow?)

TulipsAndTinsel · 14/12/2009 17:02

fuckers

lbb, well done on all the bargains, always a nice feeling isn't it?

elkiedee · 14/12/2009 17:16

Hi all, doing a big thread catch up read. We had a few days at home with both boys not well - C was prescribed tamiflu although he then got better very quickly. We also had to get our boiler fixed urgently and had a horrible cold weekend a couple of weeks ago. Suffering from very interrupted sleep and grizzly children still.

SpottyXmasStockings · 14/12/2009 20:02

Well done on the crawling Luke! Sam is like MOS's H walking round furniture and standing on his own for about 5 seconds but lacks a bit in the teeth department. He got his bottom 2 at 6mths but nothing in the last 3 mths!! Harry had 7 at 9mths! Loving the bargains btw

MOS that is terrible news. I am really really sorry. Poor you and your DC's!

Sounds like you had a lovely time Norty. We did our first train ride recently and they hyperventilated with excitment

Hope the teething passes soon Drinky (love the new name!) and you and Elkie get happy children and sleep back to normal soon xx

No particular news here, kids are the kids - little feckers darlings. Went into work today and confirmed I'm reducing my hrs even further and will be going back in April for 2 days a week, new managers are fab which is a load off! Finish my Breastfeeding Course tomorrow! Yay!!! Been slightly tedious

Merry Christmas

Byeeeee

drinkystinkyuletidegubbins · 14/12/2009 22:14

Hurrah xmas smileys - and a Spotty

Sorry to hear about your flights MOS - that is awful and feel so desperately for you and your kids.

Elkie - lovely to see you on but sorry you - and the boys - have had such a hard time of it. Hope your heating is working properly now - what a time for it to pack in!

LBB - what brilliant bargains!

SpottyXmasStockings · 14/12/2009 23:25

shushhhh

Hi drinky! Love you all

littleboyblue · 15/12/2009 07:37

Norty I'm a bit of a cheap-skate, so it's not the ELC one. I got it from a shop in Staines for £20!!! Is very similar to ELC one though.
mos I'm next to Heathrow. I was there yesterday actually. We like to get close sometimes in hope to see some planes. Ds1 loves it!
elkie hope things are a bit better.

I've told dp he HAS to get the christmas tree down from the loft today. I want to wrap the pressies and get in the frestive mood!

Ds1 will not leave me alone. He follows me everywhere really whinging and always asking for hugs. I hug him all the time, but sometimes am busy so tell him he'll have to wait until I finish the washing up etc. I'm getting really pissed off actually. Sounds awful doesn't it? But he really won't leave me alone. If he isn't asking for hugs, he's telling me he needs a poo. All for attention that he wants 100% off but can't have iyswim.
Not sure what to do about it now. Any ideas?
On the bright side, Luke is getting a little better and isn't crying quite as much, so that's good
