Oh and I got M a fabulous book today. It's called Bugs in a Blanket and it is illustrated in embroidery! It's beautiful and a little unusual which is always something that appeals to me.

50ftQueenie · 09/11/2009 21:53

She probably did CSWS, I have a rubbish memory!

50ftQueenie · 09/11/2009 21:59

Ah, yes. They are away, that explains it then!

aubergenie · 10/11/2009 06:58

That looks like a lovely book 50ft. I'm always on the lookout for book suggestions for S.

Well, S only woke every two hours last night, which is an improvement. He's still got an awful chesty cough though, poor thing.

What are you all getting your LOs for Christmas? My family keep asking me what they should get for S, but I'm not sure what are good toys for the next stage.

50ftQueenie · 10/11/2009 07:45

I am going to get M some role-playing toys (like ELC Happy Land stuff), some Duplo and some more books, preferably ones with texture as M loves touching the pictures. We're not going mad on Christmas presents as it feels likes she's only just had her birthday!

star6 · 10/11/2009 08:48

So, I made a gravy with chopped up apples in it (veg stock, water, wholemeal flour and apples) - yummy! For the yorkshire pudding I just made it with flour, egg and milk and water and put a drizzle of olive oil on the bottom of the baking pan. I couldn't deal with all of the recipes that called for lard or loads of butter. It was yummy nonetheless, though I laid a slice of apple next to each veggie sausage before pouring the batter over them, too to make them moist and give flavour. mmmmm
We'll just get Q a few books and maybe a toy that he seems to like. He really only wants to play with boxes and wrapping paper anyway We will get him stuff he likes to play with throughout the year when it is on sale or in a nearly new sale available

star6 · 10/11/2009 08:53

sorry, didn't realize I had posted last night... somehow missed that and replies only read last few posts.
I had a glass of wine last night (and felt totally drunk after just the one! pathetic! ).... oh well, I've always been a cheap date.

I wonder if you could make the yorkshire pudding with wholemeal flour? That might be taking it too far . The gravy with wholemeal actually made it tastier! I also am not a huge fan of veggie sausages. I was thinking Asparagus might be really really yummy laid in the batter. Anyone tried this? I might try it tonight. Wholemeal yorkshire pudding with asparagus and apple and my yummy nutty apple and veg stock gravy.

star6 · 10/11/2009 11:33

Sorry to hear about the bad sleep pistachio.
The chubbies sound good. Maybe we'll get those, too.

Keeping your weight down seems so much harder after two doesn't it Myjob?! I still can't lose any weight and i have been exercising more and there is no way I eat enough to maintain this level of corpulence! I'm hoping that once M stops bfing it will eventually come off.

M has been doing horrible horrible poos for about a week. She has always had fairly loose poo but I was never concerned as she still had so many bfeds. I started a thread the other day about it and lovely CSWS answered me, then some woman said take her to the dr as MNers can't really help which wasn't very useful. How ever things have gone from bad to worse this week. Her poo smells of sick and her bottom and lady bits are red raw & hot to the touch! She looks like she's been burned, which I suppose she probably has if her poo is acidic. Her dairy intake had increased but we have cut it out over the last couple of days but to no avail. Maybe it's taking some time to work through her body.

CSWS - Back to the dairy question, due you think that the burning effect on her bottom could be the result of dairy or more likely teething? She is teething which is very much clouding my judgement. Even the HV (who I tracked down yesterday) said it was very difficult to tell if she's teething.

CantSleepWontSleep · 10/11/2009 20:06

Oh that's such a tricky one 50ft. Dd did have red raw and blistered girly bits all the while that she was having dairy, so it could be due to that, but teething can wreak havoc with everything can't it? I would expect it to take more than a couple of days of being dairy free to notice an improvement though, as it will still be very much in her system. I would give it a minimum of a full week off dairy before drawing any conclusions, and lots of metanium and nappy free time if you can manage during that too.

Incidentally, ds has had a horrible eczema type rash for the last couple of weeks or so. Has anyone else's dc had this just from teething? Am not sure if it's that, a food allergy, the change in temperature (always causes my eczema to flare up) or our washing powder that is the cause.

Q has red, raw, hot bottom, too, 50ft It's so sad isn't it?

He's also got a red mark on his face that is not going away and quite hot to the touch. Not sure what that is.

Horrid chesty cough, still, too. Yuck.

50ft, csws will be able to advise better, but I'd think you would have to go dairy free for at least a week to see any results? Not sure on that one, though.

Hi myjob!! Nice to see you again

star6 · 10/11/2009 20:15

x posts csws

I had eczema abot 4 years ago... haven't had it since. I spent a year (yes a whole year) putting baby oil (fragrance free stuff) on my whole body after every shower and showered morning and night. I would step out of the shower, pat dry or air dry, apply baby oil, wait for that to dry a bit, apply oilatum jr. cream to areas with eczema (inside of elbows, a spot on my neck, one spot on my leg), rub that all in, and put on breathable pajamas. When it was really bad on inside of elbows, I went to bed with Elidel cream on top of all of that and plastic wrap wrapped several times around my arms. I did this routine for an entire year and never got eczema again Dh used to say that he couldn't even hold my hand without me slipping away during that year Oh and it left me with the softest skin ever.
Now, I sometimes do a week of baby oil after a shower followed by lotion and then I get baby soft skin for another several months A good tip for anyone looking for softer skin.
Wow, long post about skin....

star6 · 10/11/2009 20:18

I just re read my last post... you must all think I'm some sort of OCD psycho person. I just set my mind to do something and then feel the need to do it fully and the best that I can and I pour a lot of energy and effort into whatever the endeavour is... probably went overboard on the eczema treatment, but hey, it worked!

jenwa · 10/11/2009 21:24

It appears this thread has turned into a yourkshire pudding discussion! yum yum, I am a frozen yorkshire pudding person but thats as I have never made them before and the forzen ones take 5 mins to cook. star make the huge ones and put all your dinner in it, they do that in some places!

star Lol skin cleansing routine I think what ever works for you is great. Not at all OCD

P had her injections yesterday, she was so happy and smiling at everyone and then she went in and came out one unhappy little girl 4 weeks until next lot!

50ftQueenie · 10/11/2009 21:35

Awww Jenwa! Poor baby girl. It breaks your heart when they're all smiley before hand doesn't it? You feel like such a horrible bastard for putting them through it.

CSWS - I find that ds's eczema flares up when the heating comes on and M's get worse when she is run down. So many things seem to affect their skin! I think I'll carry on with no dairy for M and see how it goes. We have to do something, her bottom is going to fall off otherwise!

Star - It looks so painful doesn't it? M winces every time we change her. Tonight when I tried to put her nappy on before bed she screamed at me until I put the cream on. She went all quiet then started clapping!

M lovely screaming habit has reached a new level. She screams a deafening scream every time he doesn't get her own way. It is so frustrating! It is the loudest thing I have ever heard and I have no idea what to do about it! I am surprised I haven't had Social Services knocking on the door!

Poor M and Q's bums. 50ft - Not sure about sore bums but I did notice that when we gave S cow's milk to drink his poo was absolutely disgusting. It actually smelt like sour milk which made me think that it couldn't be doing him any good. So we stopped (he still has yoghurt and dairy in cooked food) and it's been fine since. But if M's teething as well, it's so difficult to know what's causing it.

Welcome back Myjob!

Another horrible night here. Numerous wakings including one that lasted 2 hours. S and Dp now both fast asleep but I've got to go to work. And I'm still full of cold. Grr.

Hope it's not too bad in your house, Pistachio.

50ftQueenie · 11/11/2009 08:14

Oh dear Aubergenine! I was going to moan about my night and how fed up I am with not ever getting a proper night's sleep, but my night was fine compared to yours! M still wakes twice a night for milk. We have tried to settle her without it but she gets into such a state that she screams the house down and then starts shaking & retching. It's not worth the pain for all of us. DH sleeps through it of course!
I'm still full of cold too and have been on & off for the last three months! I think I am on my 7th cold in that time. I feel very sorry for you having to go to work on top of all of that.

Myjob - Day 11 of dieting and being really good and still not even a pound has left this body. I am clueless. I can tell you, the fags are calling....... If only they didn't cost so much.

star6 · 11/11/2009 08:24

Where's Ronshar? Need your help desperately with 50ft and myjob.

Myjob - Food is necessary to your body so that you can be a healthy mummy for N. If you don't eat at all, then your metabolism will slow down and then once you do it anything it will not know how to deal with it properly. Eat small amounts often rather than big meals. It takes away that bloated after a big meal feeling and is actually a healthier way of eating anyway. You need food to keep your body healthy.

50ft - it takes time. Are you exercising? Sometimes when you start exercising more, you start to build more muscle and even though you're doing well and getting healthier, you may not be losing actual pounds iyswim. And take your mind off the "fags" (can't understand why brits use that word!!).

Ok, I did my best. Help Ronshar, Help!
