You're right Guim, ML! Sorry, I automatically typed mg as in my job it is all tablets, not often liquids so it's a bit of an automatic thing to type!!

The moisturiser she has is Diprobase but sometimes it looks like it's making it worse?

GunpowderGUIMAUVEandPlot · 05/11/2009 17:12

No worries, had to check, 2.5mg would be an OD! How often are you using the Diprobase? In what way worse?

Mitte tells you what quantity of whatever the doc wants supplied. Latin for......give? or summink (was probably taught this but can't remember

bebemoo · 05/11/2009 18:14

Evening ladies
Have had a stressful few days. I'm uber sensitive/emotional again. Dh and I have been fighting and we never fight I'm at the end of a tether I forgot I had. I find myself crying in a deep darkness... I'd love to hear about the fun you've been having while I've been away.
In other news:
Went to the gp again today abt my blood tests again and my iron is still low (but much higher then it was, it's 13 now) so I'm still on iron.

Moo's been sleeping a lot today. She's been awake no more than 2hours at a time. I hope she's not getting sick again.

Worried about how/what to bring to America. Since Dh is going to be away working it's going ot be up to me to pack everything and make sure that we've got what we need. At least I've got 2 weeks to wrap my mind around it.

Going to try to catch up though have to say I'm feeling low on 'get go.'

bebemoo · 05/11/2009 19:13

so caught up (scanned) Sorry I missed everyone.

Speaking of mooncups I bought one for my next period and have found it impossible to get out without causing myself horrible pain where my scar is... anyone else having trouble? Any ideas how I can help this?

bebemoo · 05/11/2009 19:19

So where is everyone?

Watching fireworks and having some kind of fun I'm sure. sigh

Bicnod · 05/11/2009 19:23

Hey bebe - you poor thing sending huge hugs. Why do you think you are feeling so down at the moment?

On the subject of scars - mine are still giving me pain generally not sure when we are supposed to be back in full working order?

Fei - O polished off H's leftovers for dinner - he clearly isn't a vegetarian. Lovely to see you both today - good luck for DH for tomorrow.

bebemoo · 05/11/2009 19:29

Well it just occurred to me that I started getting emotional and depressed when weaning really kicked into high gear last week... is this a coincidence I wonder? Going to google to see if I have a disease other than 'womanhood.'

surprisenumber3 · 05/11/2009 19:37

Guim - I am putting the Diprobase on 3 times a day, sometimes when I put it on it looks redder and angrier?

Bebemoo - me and DH are also arguing at the moment and we never ever do. Well, actually it's just me shouting at him

bebemoo · 05/11/2009 19:41

in reference to eczema... I overheard a woman in Lush say that the dream cream has made all the difference to her 10m baby... But I wouldn't be able to comment and didn't get a chance to play nosey American and butt in on the conversation because Meg started screaming at the point as well as my phone ringing...

AuldAlliance · 05/11/2009 19:42

Oh, bebe, sorry to hear you are down in the dumps. If it will cheer you up in any way, I can report that A was an absolute delight and a doddle on the 4 flights we took on Fri, Sun and Mon.
I took a dummy so his ears didn't hurt during take off & landing, and he just danced about upright on my knees grinning at everyone. And tried to eat the safety instruction cards in the seat pocket. And pooed copiously (take about 4 times as many nappies as you think you might need).
The dancing about upright gave my arms a very intense workout, but other than that it was easy peasy.

Back to work, have another class to prepare for tomorrow

bebemoo · 05/11/2009 19:45

Doe she usually take a dummy? Moo's not had one for 6m...
Very glad to hear it abt the ease of the flights; someone else mentioned taking lots of nappies. I wonder if I'll need a bigger bag.

bebemoo · 05/11/2009 19:48

not SHE ... HE (sorry Auld)

bebemoo · 05/11/2009 19:50

Apparently depression/emotional teenagery outbursts are fairly common.

kingbangwoosh23 · 05/11/2009 20:35

AA - glad that the flights were good...I found it all kinda empowering knowing that I could handle (an albeit short) flight with a small baby, luggage, passport control etc and not much going wrong.

Bebe - Sorry youre having a crappy time. I too have heard the benefits of dream cream, in fact I love Lush so much, I could spend ££££££s

Kinda seems we're all in the same weaning/teething/massive poo/start of big change/beginning of winter horribleness, so I would like to say to you all........

I'm sure it will all get better soon, but here are some foot and shoulder rubs for you all followed by some hot chocolate and s to top it all off with.....((( )))s for you all

kingbangwoosh23 · 05/11/2009 20:35

Sorry, am feeling a bit loopy due to sleeplessness !

Feierabend · 05/11/2009 20:50

Auld, I love your description of flying with A

Bebe, it must be hard for you to be on your own with Moo so much. Lots of for you.

Surprise, I put Diprobase on H's eczema at every nappy change. It seems to help, although it's a constant up and down. Have you asked for other creams - Cetraben, Epaderm are a bit greasier / richer. But you'll know all this yourself. So sorry to hear it's bothering her so much.

AuldAlliance · 05/11/2009 21:20

bebe, he has a dummy to go to sleep at night, though he usually spits it out sharpish. In the plane he sucked it quite a lot. I even got a strap thingy to clip it to his clothes so it wouldn't fall onto the yucky lowcost plane floor.

I don't remember feeling down when DS1 finally gave up the last BF feeds at 13 months, but it makes sense from a hormonal point of view. However, I never drank a drop when PG with DS1 or when I was BFing him and I probably spent the next month so tipsy I wouldn't have noticed any hormonal mood swings. I do remember that my libido returned shortly after, much to DH's relief following some 22 months of general lack of interest on my part. So maybe there's a silver lining?

A yanked himself up to a standing position using the lowest shelf of the bookcase today. The trouble is he doesn't know what to do next: after a few minutes' proud standing and grinning, he often swivels round, falling down and cracking the back of his head on the tiles.
Can anyone recommend any shoe-type things for 6 month olds? Socks are just too slippery.

surprisenumber3 · 05/11/2009 21:25

Dream cream worked wonders on my eczema, in fact I Haven't had eczema for a few years now! I used to it DS2 when he had a little flare up when he was 2 or 3 and it did work for him too.

I think I would just be a little wary with it for E as she has open wounds from scratching etc. Maybe when it has healed I could try a little bit on her 'more-like-dry-skin-and-less-like-eczema' bits and see how that goes.

BTW, if you ask for a free sample pot of Dream Cream in Lush, it is very generous ;)

AA- that's brill about the flying! I tried to give E a dummy again, along with a comfort bunny, to see if it would help with her only wanting me for comfort. And what did she do...give the bunny the dummy! I thought she was SOOO clever though as she put the dummy right where the bunnys mouth would be!!

Feira- I haven't tried those creams but will definitely mention to GP if it doesn't clear up, thanks

Feierabend · 05/11/2009 21:26

Auld, look here for shoes. I keep wanting to buy some for Hazel and then deciding that she doesn't really need them. But they are lovely.

Feierabend · 05/11/2009 21:28

Oh, thanks for the tip Surprise, will get a dream cream sample when I next go into town. DD1 has some very dry patches on her legs and arms.

AuldAlliance · 05/11/2009 21:37

oh, thanks Fei, they are gorgeous. What with those and your wooden toys, you are becoming a bit of a liability with the old links! I want lots of them, they are really cute (and I am not one for cute stuff normally).

Have posted (blurry) pic of A's new trick on profile.

bebemoo · 05/11/2009 21:45

wegot meg some crawlers from Clarks and they're good for the 'walking' she does. Lady looked at me mad like when I said I wanted them for a 7m that was tryng to walk and said 'we don't encourage parents to put walking shoes on their babies feet at 7m...' sigh I do wish strangers would not try to tell me how my child 'ought to be' and just listen to me when I say this is how she is...

WrigglyFish · 06/11/2009 08:36

Morning

Auld I was also going to recommend Robeez. DD had some and they lasted months and saved me a fortune in socks (can anyone find socks that actually stay on a baby!?). You can often find them cheaply on Amazon. I got DDs 1/2 price there.

Bebe sorry to hear you are feeling so down. It is reassuring to know that these feelings are normal and will pass. Hormones are terrible crazy things. Also Iron deficiency can add to feelings of stress (particularly in women).

When S was born a friend came laden with useful stuff. One was a Bach Flower remedy called 'revitalise'. It is recommended for new mothers and you can get it at Neal's Yard. A couple of drops do seem to help when everything seems a bit much.

bebemoo · 06/11/2009 09:04

Morning ladies. Thanks for your support. I really appreciate it.

Realised this morning as I started my new iron pills that they're different then before. They're ferrous furmarate rather than ferrous sulphate. And JOY! I only have to take 2 a day rather than 3 (I'm going to try to concentrate on the little things which make life not as bad as it could be and see if that helps)

mrsgBANGing · 06/11/2009 09:13

auld what a cute pic of a - v clever

bebe i have always been prone to teenagery outbursts with no good reason. part of life imo. just horrid at the time

robeez are sooooo cute. they never quite fitted ds1 so we always ended up with the other brand whose name escapes me. think i shall try to get some for e while he's still too young to choose his own designs. in vain i used to try to con ds1 into choosing ones with whales on.

they don't last terribly long though i have to warn you.

e stinks of garlic this morning, suggesting he did actually ingest some beef casserole last night.
