p.s. Fei - if this makes you feel any better about the poo incident, O pooed on my arm on the way to the bath the other day (always a bit of a risk taking naked baby from his room to bathroom), and then pooed again in the bath as I was putting him in it. So had to drain bath and refill while holding a screaming pooey baby with a pooey arm.

JumeirahJane · 05/11/2009 07:15

Hi.

Gui - you missed me?!! Now I want to cry! Grateful even to be 5th on the list.

DD is 7 months today, hooray, and I couldn't tell you where the last month has gone. I was feeling sociable and saw a few friends, then DH's job gets shaky again, and I just daren't spend any money, even to join friends for a coffee, or an exercise class. Skint, skint, skint. With a mortgage. Abroad. Missing my family. And ever so slightly scared. Probably have to rent out our 2-bed apt and move into a 1-bed (eek) til things pick up. I know people have it worse than us, but DH is paying a mountain of my debts and I feel so bad for him I just want it all to go away. It's only DD's darling little face in the mornings that gets me out of bed. Meanwhile, a new friend has been confiding in me about her issues, and I'm glad of the distraction, but it's not helping, and we just smile to the rest of the world .

Sorry for me post, especially as I haven't chatted for a while I am reading everything (lurking) and quietly sympathising with teeth/men/poo/sleeplessness issues, even if I don't comment.

Springy - I did that yesterday - fell asleep feeding DD and woke up as she hit the rug. She was asleep as well though, so probably relaxed like when a cat falls. Hope he was ok after?

Emmerdale is on. Tea and s to you all.

kingbangwoosh23 · 05/11/2009 07:37

Good Morning people, or good night...for me it's the last.....

Sleeplessness has now become such a friend that I cant remember what real sleep is!! I has been up since 4.30...but she also woke at 11.30, 12.30 and 2.30. DP was in charge of the last feed as I was cooking dinner. He did it too early as he was watching football and I have a feeling he wanted her in bed and out of the way so he could watch it properly

thats how i feel today towards him ....

hope all of you are lovely though and having lots of tea and s and once again managing to make me laugh!

Feierabend · 05/11/2009 08:22

Good morning. JJ, nice to see you here. Kingbangwhoosh, sounds like an awful night, poor you. Hope you can get some rest today - at least the sun is shining!

My cheeky baby has once again managed to roll onto the hearth and get her tights completely black. Sigh. Looks like I'll have to go and change her before she rubs it onto the carpet as well...

WheeeFreshSparkleBang · 05/11/2009 10:03

Gah. Feier, you owe me about half an hour of my life - have just been reading the sleep thread you mentioned and wasted most of Orbit's nap time getting angry! Why do people have to adopt such entrenched extreme positions? It has to be Extreme Sleep Training and Child Cruelty vs Never Putting Your Baby Down For A Minute.

Let's face it, reality is somewhere between the two for most of us.

Oh bums, now Orbit is awake. Back later! Have a .

SpringyShouldBeWorking · 05/11/2009 10:40

Gui, it may come to the 'Dave Oldowan' school of thought yet

Everyone's having such a rough time of it at the moment!

Bicnod, I think studying with a baby is a lot easier than working with one to be honest. The hardest thing is finding the self-discipline to work when I have the flat to myself - it's so tempting to sleep / read trash / watch awful daytime television just because I can.

JJ, George was fine afterwards - scared more than anything. It was his own fault for thinking he can crawl head first off things without gravity stepping in & ruining his fun. He refuses to learn.

He had his first night in his own room last night - he loves his cot, but doesn't love not being able to pull cute faces at mummy until she brings him into her bed He was a bit unsettled (more than usual!) but I think he'll get used to it quickly. He finds his curtains hilarious so that helps.

BoffMonster · 05/11/2009 11:45

I think my university is being taken over by the Taliban!

I have just found out that the Powers That Be are thinking of banning alcohol from campus and banning lecturers from lecturing in the afternoon if they have had a drink at lunchtime

Now I am not a great toper myself, but I am tempted to organise a champagne picnic by the university lake for all lecturers one lunchtime as a protest. Especially if Moet sponsor it!

dawntigga · 05/11/2009 12:46

Boff is there a real problem or is the uni being risk averse?

Plate of biscuits! [] How marvellous! Though I did envision the [ biscuit] looking more like a chocolate chip cookie.

Am feeling very self-righteous after eating an organic, Soil Association-approved, fair trade chocolate and crispy rice bar instead of a whole pack of Hobnobs!

I think an alcohol-free university campus may be the most ridiculous thing ever.

Here, we are on Day 1 of the Big Change to Cloth Nappies, and H very kindly christened his first one in style

Hi JJ! Sorry things are a bit rocky at the moment . What is the rental market like over there - will it be easily done? Don't be scared ((( ))) - hug 'n' a jammy dodger.

King - I hope you gave him what for.

Feier - at little Cinders!

AuldAlliance · 05/11/2009 13:07

well, hello, everyone!

Hi JJ, nice to see you, sorry things are tough.

This 6-mth period is a bit tricky isn't it?(except for BabyBoff, who is amazing and sleeps through anything, including a family of three trampling around with rucksacks and pushchairs at dawn).

And hello Springy, are you feeling any more inspired by that rather well-worded and stimulating essay question?

Oh, and hi Surprise, you have my sympathies. A is having real trouble with his teeth, the bottom two are just under the gum and I wish the damn things would come through, though I know that is not the end by any means.

And hello to everyone else, sorry not to reply more personally to you all.

I have no time to catch up really, as my trip to get DS1 from the northern wilds seems to have thrown me completely and am behind with everything. But I am lurking assiduously every evening if I can, and thinking of you all.

Oh, and if you are my secret Santa and want a UK address, you can contact me via the Nuttster.

WrigglyFish · 05/11/2009 13:49

Hello

Also lurking here - every time I try and catch up and post one or other of my children kicks off.

All ok but everyone has had hacking coughs for days and days now so no-one is sleeping well. Although we aren't particularly ill we are all feeling a bit doolally on lack of sleep. Have run out of ideas for entertaining everyone so now we're watching Little Mermaid on a loop.

Ooh, I have received letter from HMRC saying 'We have reviewed your claim and have decided to award you Health in Pregnancy Grant'.

Bicnod · 05/11/2009 15:05

...as seen on the Boff/Auld show...

[Fei] I am at Bicnod's house and she's trying to make me put weight on by feeding me home made banana bread. It's lovely really

Also little Oscar is completely spoilt, he's got a house full of toys!

[Bicnod] well Fei clearly overfeeds Hazel as she's already done three poos and is in the process of doing another... some mothers eh

[Fei] Well either Bicnod has just farted or it IS actually a Hazel poo...

[Bicnod] get off Fei - its not me...

Feierabend · 05/11/2009 16:07

We've scared everyone off...

surprisenumber3 · 05/11/2009 16:14

I'm here Just jealous because I want banana bread (oh, and to meet you two of course :D )

I'm not as low today, best mate took me shopping and we stopped for lunch. Was lovely!

Guim - need advice sweetie, are you around

gui am feeling disgusting. what mind altering euphoriants/tranx can i take whilst remaining legal and bfing?

[not a serious q don't worry] milkdly pants day here, got cold and feel like i'm failing both boys

surprisenumber3 · 05/11/2009 16:22

yay, you appeared as if by magic!!

Doctor has given Evie Piriton, 2.5 mg to be taken before bed, along with Eumovate cream.
Pharmacist didn't want to give her the Piriton as she said it's not licensed for under ones but when she looked in BNF there was a dosage for under one's. Do you think it's okay?

GunpowderGUIMAUVEandPlot · 05/11/2009 16:43

MrsG, as usual I can highly recommend the following prescription:

Rx Milk chocolate hobnobs, Sig. 3 qds Mitte 1 tube

Surprise - I know, it makes it look like I'm permanently lurking! Re: Piriton, yes, not licensed, so the drug company haven't done the necessary clinical trials in children, but unlicensed does not = unsafe. There are dose recommendations from 1 month upwards, based on years of clinical experience, though in littlies it would usually be prescribed under a paed. But, your GP would not have prescribed an unlicensed med unless he had experience of using it with littlies, as GPs are fairly 'strict' about them. Personally, I would use it. In my hosp it is used fairly often. It will be drowsy-making, though, so E's sleep patterns may be affected. Please just clarify for me - the dose should be 2.5 millilitres of 2mg/5mL syrup - not 2.5milligrams. Is that what's been prescribed?

Feierabend · 05/11/2009 16:47

Grrrr. I shall not be buying Tesco's wrapping paper again. It doesn't wrap properly

Gui I have always wondered what that 'Mitte' means?
