I need some advice people:

DD is the wriggliest child ever, and has a habit of rolling around on the bed....when she's in between us, fine. When either DP or I have been in the bed alone she has even rolled over the top of the pillows and fallen onto the floor...it's not a steep drop maybe about a foot, but that isn't the point.

Any tips gratefully recieved.

PuzzleRocks · 03/11/2009 20:42

Isn't Bronze wonderful! She missed me.

[narrows eyes at everyone else]

I am wildly excited. My oldest girlfriend is pregnant with her first baby. I am meeting her for lunch on Thursday. I can't wait to see her.

I hope everyone had a good weekend. We were at the library making spooky bat masks on Saturday and then spent Sunday at my Mums. My Mum is on cloud nine after Ellen declared "I love it here".
She also told DH at bedtime "Thank you for a lovely weekend Papa, I had a wonderful time". It was nice to be able to offset the earlier "I actually don't love you Mummy".

Wriggly - Thanks for the bunkbed link.

Fei - I dunk buttery toast too.

We are doing a mix of home cooked purees and BLW. Holly enjoys both. The sound of the blender, not so much.

Swali - No advice but plenty of sympathy. Has B slept or eaten any better this week?

Boff - I just don't know how you do it. I'm only happy to work because I can do it in my pj's at home. I hope things get easier for you.

BB - My two have these with their nicknames stitched on.

I see everyone is coming out of the BA closet. I think you will find I admitted my crush first. I'm just sooo on trend.

Purplemonkey - Great to have one of the old guard back. We missed you.

BB - Your own business too? How exciting. And my goodness you make me feel lazy.

Gui - I will do your accounts. Ignore Fei, she just wants to steal your pastries.

That tray thread was hilarious.

ladyofmuswell · 03/11/2009 21:05

Thanks for the welcome everyone. Three (big) glasses of wine later and somehow I'm feeling a bit better... off to watch Gordon Ramsay

Feierabend · 03/11/2009 21:29

Dammit I missed the tray thread. Will have to go back and find it. Hello Puzzle!

PuzzleRocks · 03/11/2009 21:33

Gui - I read crocheted cosy as crotch cosy. I'd prefer the jam but the crotch cosy is fine if laundered.
Seriously, if you get me, I would love something homemade.

Blimey Trista too. Hello there.
Sorry to hear L's dad is being a tool, but glad to hear your gorgeous boys are doing well.

Bebe - How are Boo's gums?

Nuts - Are your two better?

WFH - Holly bites me wheen she is teething.

Oh my, still so much to catch up. I'll try again tomorrow.

Feierabend · 03/11/2009 21:36

Oh, since we're publishing Christmas wish lists I have a nut allergy. So whoever is my Secret Santa, please don't send me anything with nuts in or I'll have to feed it to DH!

BoffMonster · 03/11/2009 21:39

Hello LadyofMus and Kingbang - it's nice to refresh the gene pool. However some people here have namechanged to the point we are getting confused who is doing what, so it's as though most of us are new!

PuzzleRocks · 03/11/2009 21:53

ok secondwind

Nutts - I love the sound of scrabbleman .

How cute of P getting excited drawing names. I love the idea of a live secret santa opening.
Thanks so much for organising everything.

Trista - I just read your Sunday post. What an arse he is for putting you all through that. You sound so strong, your boys are very lucky to have you.

Boff/Auld - Were you both pissed at 4.49?
Ah, yes. I see you were. Splendid.

WFH - I wish you easy house-hunting.

Yes, where is Maths? I miss Maths, she was saucy.

Ok, I am really going now. Just nodded off.

AuldAlliance · 03/11/2009 21:54

Hello, ladyofmuswell. Welcome aboard!

I am still recovering from my stay chez Boff yet another sleepless night and a 5am start on Monday morning, so am off to bed but wanted to say:
(1) hang in there Nutty, they are only words on paper and you are nearly through with the proceedings.
(2) BB, I know what you go through, as A pulled himself up to a standing position yesterday, holding on to the sofa, and today yanked a plant so it fell off a shelf onto his head, showering him with earth and water and almost braining him into the bargain. The next few months are going to be hectic!

Will try and catch up soon.
(P.S. Hi Puzzle, I missed you. )

BoffMonster · 03/11/2009 21:58

It is Auld's fault she is so tired. She shouldn't have done all the pole dancing.

Nutty, chin up ol gel. It is incredibly stressful now, but you are so strong underneath and you still have your lovely girls. You can do it. xx

WheeeFreshSparkleBang · 03/11/2009 22:40

Fei I was waiting for a link to the AIBU thread before I commented on your rant - which one was it? But yes, 'my baby my way' is almost as bad as 'happy mummy, happy baby' IMO. Ah, so if gin and cocaine makes mummy happy, that's good for the baby, is it?

Puzzle, did you go somewhere?

Oh yes, Secret Santa, must crack on with that. No idea what to get, am going to scour my assigned person's posts to see if they've handily said 'What I would really like is XXXX'

Took DS1 swimming today while my mum looked after Orbit. DS1 was an angel the whole time, we had a brilliant time, and the second we got home and saw Orbit and Grannie, he turned into a sulky monster again. Sibling rivalry, anyone?

GUYmauve · 04/11/2009 07:17

Sorry Kingbeat, I did add you to the list, but then I lost you again when I updated everyone's namechanges !

GUYmauve · 04/11/2009 07:29

I did miss you Puzzle. In fact, I typed as much yesterday, but then deleted it through lack of mojo. I also miss BRETT, MATHS, FROGMELLA, SPRINGY, JJ, FREKKLES, RACHEL, and everyone else who has not posted in a little, or a long, while.

My MN mojo is missing.

Yesterday I not only got told by An Old Woman In The Street that Hugo should have a hat on, but also some yoof inexplicably shouted 'bitty' at me from a car. I could at least understand the mindset of the yoof had I been feeding H, but I was carrying him and pushing the buggy. Go figure. At baby massage I did not feel bad about Hugo's bony-ness, but I did feel bad about the younger babies all merrily rolling/ sitting/ standing.

Me me me me me me me.

dawntigga · 04/11/2009 08:05

Actually Guy it's all about me, I know you're a trifle slow on the uptake and I do have to keep reminding you - but really!

And now back to the real reason MN is here - me

I can see the outline of the whole of Sams front teeth through his gums - not the bit at the bottom where they come through but the bit at the front/side. Shurely, that can't be right!

As for 'my baby, my way' and 'happy mum', I actually believe there's a certain amount of truth to it, but it should be tempered with 'common' sense. Of which there appears to be a bigger deficit than the national budget.

Oh, and teeth are a bugger. Have had 2 nights of up every 2 hours and am wondering how the hell I use to cope!

Nutts the only thing I can say is that the punched in the stomach feeling does get better eventually. Huggssssssss!

SnappyAndEasilyAnnoyedDidYouHaveSomethingToSay?Tiggaxx

Feierabend · 04/11/2009 09:14

Ah. See, I didn't post a link with my rant because the thread that set me off was the current ff/bf thread, where the whole first page is people shouting at the poor OP to 'back off because it's my baby, my choice' - really if that's all they have to say then I think they shouldn't bother posting. I did not get angry about the ff/bf debate but the way people were having a go at OP. And then it reminded me of two old threads - one was about a 2.5 year old whose speech development was impaired because she always had the dummy in, the other one about a 5 yr old being pushed to school in his buggy. Again, everyone came on to say that it was none of the OP's business what other people decide to do with their children. Anyway, I've probably got some militant parenting views so will shut up now

PuzzleRocks · 04/11/2009 09:36

Good morning

Holly has just fed herself weetabix by dipping her fist in and licking it. She got loads in her hair which has now dried like cement.

Surprise - Bloody hell sweetheart, that does sound tough. Please dont feel bad if you have to let her cry, you must look after yourself too, you must be beyond shattered.
I hope you have had some helpful advice. I wish I had some. Bebe's comfort toy sounds worth exploring.
And we all get exasperated with our children, it's no reflection on our love for them.

Oh my word, a charity collection bag has just dropped through my letterbox. We honestly get several a week. I'm sure I read somewhere that very little of the proceeds actually goes to the charity. Anyone else heard this?

Bronze - Poor Nia. Presumably she could get the all clear from the follow up? Fingers crossed for you.

Trista - I meant to say earlier. Surely he cant have residential if you are still breastfeeding?

Nutts - How are you today lovely? I wish I could press fast forward for you and skip to the Chris who? part. That day will come.

By BoffMonster "I can proudly announce I have been topless in the House of Commons today. Am I the first?"

I assume you were feeding, there was nothing about streakers on the news. Please tell me i'm wrong.

Welcome Lady of Muswell.

Gui - You better have fixed that list by the time I finish catching up. One word Gui. Travesty.

PuzzleRocks · 04/11/2009 09:39

Aha. 7.17 Looks like you dodged a bullet.

PuzzleRocks · 04/11/2009 09:45

Fei - I'm with you. Rant away.

Bicnod · 04/11/2009 09:48

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh.

O was up at 3.40, 4.00-5.00, came into bed with mummy - didn't settle, 5.30 fed (haven't had to do night feed for MONTHS) and finally back to sleep at 6.30. So what's all that about eh? eh? eh?

God I'm knackered.

Fei - I have to admit I agree with you... let's put the parenting world to rights on thursday

Puzzle - you are so good at catching up. i'm rubbish if i've been away a few days - just canne do it.

charity collection bags usually a bit of a swizz. read the small print - often say something like '20% of the proceeds of the sale of these items will go to needy kids in blah blah blah' - definitely better off dropping stuff off at local charity shop.

Oh, morning ladies by the way

Feierabend · 04/11/2009 10:00

Phew, I am glad I'm not the only one

Has anyone posted on the 'note to your 16 yr old self' thread? It's fun.

Does the full moon affect babies' sleep?

Feierabend · 04/11/2009 10:00

Oh gosh Bronze, about the TB. Hope it's all fine now?

kingbangwoosh23 · 04/11/2009 10:37

Mornin, morning....happy 7th month Iris and Karahan!!!!

To celebrate Iris decided to only sleep in her bouncy chair from the hours of 12.30 - 5 a.m. and then wake up at her normal time of 8.30 am...thankfully DP is home today and for the 1st time I havent had to have an argument to ask him to feed her! What has happened to my DP did aliens take him in the night and replace him with this imposter??

She also has the worst case of nappy rash ive seen for ages, she cried for a good 10 minutes after I changed her yesterdy poor lamb, hopefully the prize after all this is another tooth.

Have just received my books!!! Cor, that was good service in a postal strike! - thanks Boo

Fei, I'm bloody sure that full moon affects thier sleep, but if anyone else can back me up on this. Yeah, I agree some people get very angry during the AIBU posts, doesn't help and some of the stuff people say does often make me wonder about this world!

To each and every one of you...hope you have a wonderful day today

ladyofmuswell · 04/11/2009 11:21

I woke up to discover that I had to dash to the bathroom and hunt for some year old tampons - I guess that must have explained my mad hormonal day yesterday. Also we're completing on the sale of my mum's house after losing her last year so a bit of a wreck in general I think at the mo - so thanks again for having me!
BoffMonster - topless in the house of commons eh... any reason or just for a laugh?! There is no way I could expose my breastfeeding boobs to anyone all stretch-marked and yuck... very brave of you, well done!
Thanks kingbang, hope you have a wonderful day too!
Puzzle I've heard about those bogus charity collection bags, but how you tell them apart fronm the real ones I don't know... I'm waaay to disorganised to actually get round to filling any anyway so that solves the problem for me.
On a separate note, does anyone else have a 6 month old who can't/won't roll??

GUYmauve · 04/11/2009 11:33

Tell me, AIBU to:

Eat a 1kg bag of sultanas?
Eat the contents of a selection box I've bought for a friend for Christmas?
Eat an entire box of Coco Shreddies (which are DH's makes-a-change-from-Weetabix weekend cereal)?
Sit H in front of ITNG three times a day so that I can do some housework?
Express my horror that Puzzle dunks toast - do you not get horrible greasy globules in your tea?

Sorry for bring a bit dreadful at responding to posts. Am feeling a bit of late (hopefully not the return of periods - Talking of which, I'm considering getting a mooncup - anyone in here got any experience of them?)

Ladyofmuswell - you sound like you're dealing with a lot at the moment, absolutely fine to feel like a wreck with all of that going on. Have a packet of biscuits.

Bronze - has Nia got to have weeks of antibiotics? Do they know how she contracted it. I know very little about MAI.

Nutty - I suggest you take the fan (the one that the shit hit) and turn it to face him! H has just filled his nappy, so if you need anything extra to spray him with, I'll bag it up and post it to him.

I have volunteered my veiny, flooby breasts as a demonstration pair [hshock] I saw a comment on here about how useful it would be to see someone breastfeeding close-up, before having your first LO, thought "yes, I would have found that useful', and trotted out an e-mail to our NCT lady offering myself up! I wonder if I'll regret that?

PuzzleRocks · 04/11/2009 12:08

Guy - I don't have milk in tea, if that makes it any better.
Now that I just don't understand. Milk in tea. Vile.
