Glad you've had a better day Boff!

Forgot to to BB!

oh my lordy lord....fringed tights!!!and for £199 no less, brill!!! i'll sign up for them!!

AuldAlliance · 28/10/2009 17:40

Boff, they are minging.
Sometimes I think BA is BCBG, sometimes I think she is a bored housewife in some council flat in Boulogne winding us all up. If the latter, she is very, very good. I know lots of BA trivia, like that she has a man who comes to clean her shutters (of pigeon poo and Paris pollution) every week or month, and that she has her car valet cleaned every week.
I need to get out more.
Proof: I am listening to this (the song, not the actual ad) while getting A's puree ready.

AuldAlliance · 28/10/2009 17:41

oh ffs,
this not that weird this page.
multitasking gone wrong!

AuldAlliance · 28/10/2009 18:50

One confesssion too many.
I have scared everyone away with my 80's music.

MN looks funny. Is it just me?

BEWiTcHEDnod · 28/10/2009 18:50

Evening ladies

Boff - glad you're feeling better. Am of your sleep.

Swali - yay! hurrah for exchanged contracts... when do you complete?

Pressies - I got a massage voucher (mmmmm) and various fat face clothes (double mmmmmmmmm).

Breakthrough of the day - O ate his homemade dinner (broccoli, cauliflower, sweet potato and baby rice) - I pureed it to within an inch of its life and served it cold to try and imitate the jar food so loves. Weird weird baby. But he would only eat it if I gave him a rice cake to hold and occasionally slobber on at the same time. He then had some plain yoghurt and bits of chopped up mango (couldn't feed it to himself in big chunks as too slippery and he got frustrated so chopped up small and spoon fed) for pudding. So I think it was the texture and temperature of the purees as I was serving them hot and a bit lumpy. Will carry on with cold and very smooth for a bit longer and then gradually get lumpier.

Wow. Just read that back - I am so dull

Just to add to the dullness, another breakthrough is that he drank 100ml of formula (aptamil follow on milk - wouldn't have the normal stuff and follow on says from 6m so must be ok???) from a bottle at bedtime hurrah hurrah I'm so bloody happy I could cry. Just hope he will repeat the performance tomorrow.

Fei - sorry things are stressful with H. shall we catch up one day next week? Would be nice to get out... I'm around Wed or Thur if any good? I want to forcefeed you time out bars

BEWiTcHEDnod · 28/10/2009 18:51

Auld - MN looks funny you're right. What's going on???

AuldAlliance · 28/10/2009 19:03

Hello, Bewitched!
Great news that O is eating your lovingly prepared food!

Swali, that is excellent news. Hope things get easier for you soon once the move and its attendant stresses are over. FWIW moving house this summer almost drove me to suicide, so I really sympathise.

WFH, hope you had a better day. Sometimes it's just grim and grit, then you get a beacon of light, a smile or a word, and it feels worth it. Hang in there.

I miss DS1.

AuldAlliance · 28/10/2009 19:04

ooh, hello BB.
No idea re names on stockings. D'you mean Christmas ones or sexy ones?

BabyBolat · 28/10/2009 19:25

Hey Auld and i LOVE 80s music! DH hates it so when we fight I put on my 80s compilation CDs just to annoy him

Christmas - I want to get K one made up x

YAY SWALI - that's great

YAY Bicnod! Well done little O! That's brilliant!

Any ideas on how to wean babies off night time milk - I have just got K out of our bed (well into a travel cot next to the bed) - next step is his bedroom but I can't do that until he feeds less as at the moment it's 11.20. 2.30 and then 5.6.30 and I cant be trotting down a flight of stairs every time he is wanting a 15 second top up!

Someone suggested trying water rather than milk to put him off the night feeds but not sure!

BabyBolat · 28/10/2009 19:26

Also anyone else trick or treating? I need to find K an outfit so he can go out with our little cousins! any ideas...

BEWiTcHEDnod · 28/10/2009 19:33

HAHA - I assumed sexy stockings...

BB - we just stopped feeding O after 11pm. Made sure he had a feed between 9.30pm and 11pm and then if he woke up after that jiggled/cuddled/sang to him until he went back to sleep. DH did it for the first few nights as we thought me smelling of milk wouldn't be fair, then when he was a bit more used to it and going down more easily we both did it. Now he doesn't expect milk if/when he wakes in the night.

Does K go down awake for naps/bedtime at the moment? I reckon that's the key. Since O has been going down awake for naps his night time sleeping has improved loads as he knows how to go back to sleep without being fed.

Having said that he's still not a great sleeper - but definitely heading in the right direction.

AuldAlliance · 28/10/2009 19:35

BB:
first one I found on Google
No idea about Hallowe'en outfits for babies, though.
I have been having an "80's music from Scotland" phase; Texas "I don't want a lover" and Deacon Blue "A Ship Called Dignity". A right trip down memory lane!

Oh, and not Scottish, but remember Erasure?

BEWiTcHEDnod · 28/10/2009 19:37

Just realised I made it sound really easy. It wasn't easy but I couldn't go on with the amount of night feeds O was having and I knew he didn't need them as he was having loads of milk during the day and the HV said he was big enough to not need to feed in the night anymore. There was a lot of crying for the first few nights but we cuddled him/walked him/soothed him through it and I'm sure it was the right thing to do as he sleeps much better now (and so do we!)

BabyBolat · 28/10/2009 19:49

No he goes down asleep - I can't imagine him allowing it when he is awake as he just stands up in his cots and shouts! Once I crack that I will be the happiest person in the world. We get a fair amount of sleep from 11-6 with only one big wake up at 2 as that is nappy change so cue lots of tears!

Auld, my favourites for winding DH is are Debbie Harry, Chris De Burg, Bon Jovi, Beach Boys, the Bangles (gotta love circle in the sand!) Oh, Katrina and the Waves, Olivia Newton john, Sonia (Better the Devil was my favourite!)!! Meatloaf.

But then of course there are the timeless ones like Bowie, REM, peppers and NWA but they are not as fun!!

I found some nice ones in Ireland but they are pretty expensive even without shipping - i might my some and take them to the tailor and see if they can embroider them or maybe go to the Christmas shop in London!

Guimuahahahahahaaaaaaa · 28/10/2009 20:05

Blimey, I remember 'I don't want a lover' on Top of the Pops. I have a distinct impression of Charlene Spiteri with too-dark lipstick and (possibly I have imagined this) a crushed velvet chaise longue on the stage.

BB - you haven't got hope. The boy is standing at 7 months for goodness sake! You're going to need to clone yourself. On the plus side, he should be leaving to go to uni by 14

OP posts:
BEWiTcHEDnod · 28/10/2009 20:06

Ah yes, I'd forgotten that K can stand... I don't think O would have learnt to go down awake if he could stand. Hmmmmmmm. What do you think you will do?

BabyBolat · 28/10/2009 20:23

I don't know, if he is really tired he will go down on his front and just fall asleep with me patting his back but that is only when he is literally fighting sleep. He is like I was as a child apparently - reject any formal bed time but quite happily fall asleep wherever I am (on hands, floor, car, chair) as soon as he is ready to give in!

I know - he's 7 months next week and I am petrified he might actually try and walk soon and we are just not ready for it at all - he's already shuffling behind his walker rather than actually wanting to be in it! It's bad enough trying to stop him climbing up the stairs at my mums - he is such a bugger! Great fun I have to say, I really really am enjoying him at the moment but I am KNACKERED all the time as if I am not working I am running around after him like a loon!

WhatFreshBLOODIsThis · 28/10/2009 20:46

Hello

Hope everyone is well. Thank you for kind words, Feier and Auld - sorry for two whinging posts in a row, things have been pretty tough here what with the constant teething and the threenager etc etc and have had noone to whinge to except MN. I'm thinking of starting a moan thread so people can get stuff off their chest without troubling their nice cheerful PN mates! However, DS1 was at nursery today and I managed to get a nap this afternoon so am feeling marginally better.

BB Letterbox do personalised Christmas stockings, here linky link K sounds like he's keeping you busy! Orbit is trying to crawl but not there yet, sounds like K is streets ahead. Mind you, given his mum was knocking down her bathroom while in labour, I guess we shouldn't be too surprised....

Boff I thought I was alone in the UK in knowing what BCBG meant! I too am fascinated by BonsoirAnna, I went to a French lycee until I was 12 so met a LOT of BCBG Parisian mums. Glad to hear chocolate consumption is down - I have become obsessed with Gu Tiffins, they're quite something.

Auld, must be quiet with DS1 away - no wonder you're cranking up the 80s tunes! I would join you but am about to watch BiscuitGate on Have I Got News for You on iPlayer, and eat cereal.

Bicnod, yay for O eating homemade puree! Long may it continue.

Swali - hooray for exchange! DP goes to see the house I like tomorrow, am about to check out the school catchment it's in, fingers crossed.

Orbit was weighed today and is now 20lbs - gulp - and still following his centile so the solids must be going in, even though an absurd amount ends up on the floor. I wasn't expecting it as DS1's weight starting dropping off the centiles at this point, so I was pleasantly surprised. He munched his way through chicken casserole at my sister's at the weekend, although DP did find a bit of chicken he'd hidden in his mouth for later a few hours after dinner

Anyway, off to view Ian Hislop taking the mickey out of BiscuitGate. Large glasses of wine all round.

BEWiTcHEDnod · 28/10/2009 21:03

WFH - glad you're feeling a little better... sounds like hard work at yours at the moment. I don't know how you ladies with older kiddies cope with the down days... its hard enough with one little baby to deal with...

BB - your family are The Incredibles aren't they? I know the truth. That's why K is about to enter his first triathlon at the age of 7 months and how you are managing to hold down a job while being his mummy. Again, how the bloody hell do you do it?!

DH is supposed to be dying my hair tonight but I'm toooooooooooooooooo tired to even have a shower so just going to hang around on tinterweb, watch crappy tv then go to bed.

Night night lovelies x

Feierabend · 28/10/2009 21:11

Kara standing and about to walk? My aunt walked at 9 months and I thought that was early!

WFH glad you managed to have a nap. Tis tough isn't it, I nearly lost it with H today.

Bicnod yes definitely for next week, am going to see boss on Wednesday but Thu should be free. Can I at least do it with a KitKat?

BB I am amazed at how little sleep you seem to be surviving on, going to work and all that! I am a big fan of sleep training - in theory how many times have I said on this thread that I was going to sleep train H, and then failed?

Feierabend · 28/10/2009 21:12

Now, what DOES BCBG mean?

Feierabend · 28/10/2009 21:13

Ah, found it. Good old Wikipedia. night night.

kingbeat23 · 28/10/2009 21:21

Thanks Fei, was driving me nuts!

BabyBolat · 28/10/2009 21:50

I know - training being the key word - and the need to be strong repetitively! He isn't walking yet thank God just pushing and draggy steps I am trying to get him to sit down and be still as much as possible. It's bloody hard. I am actually having a pretty lovely evening as he has been asleep since 7 and not even stirred yet!

Bewitchednod - no capes here I am afraid, just a need to pay of the big dream wedding and save for the business we are hoping to open next year so work is a must! I figure I'll give myself grey hairs now so we can retire at 40!

Right I better go and check on the little munchkin x
