Bicnod, try mixing the Hipp stuff with home made purees. In Germany, funnily enough, they tell you jars are better than home made - nutritionally balanced and all that. I personally don't believe it and also they don't taste of real food. AND they all taste the same! Has O graduated to more grown up food yet? Maybe that's what he wants. I'll try H on cauliflower cheese at the weekend, and bolognese. She had a good suck on my panini earlier so have a feeling she'll appreciate 'proper' food!

Guimuahahahahahaaaaaaa · 27/10/2009 20:03

Plus there's 'stuff' about pesticide residues. When you buy your F&V from the shop, unless you buy organic, there's no way of knowing what pesticides everything is covered with, whereas manufacturers of baby food will have to adhere to strict guidelines about levels etc.

Now, do I need to send someone some TimTams?

Hello everyone, haven't read whole thread but nice to see how everyone's getting on These threads have been moving so quickly that I haven't had time to keep up with them!

Anyway DS2 is doing brilliantly, he will be 6 months on Friday. Only started solids a few days ago so not sure if any of it's going in yet! And yesterday he had his first two teeth come through. Still BF and hoping to continue indefinitely...

He's a good little sleeper -- naps fine, sometimes sleeps through the night (though not for the past two weeks while teething!) though sometimes still wakes for a feed. It's very manageable though. He's not sitting yet but can roll onto his tummy (then gets cross and cries).

Generally I have my hands very full between him and DS1 but it is fantastic having two.

Now will try to catch up with thread!

WhatFreshBLOODIsThis · 27/10/2009 21:04

evening lovely people, and hello kingbeat

me me me post coming up, apologies in advance.

Am officially annihilated. DS1 is being a Holy Terror, we had a day that consisted almost entirely of tantrums today, start to finish.

Orbit is still teething, I think he's been teething continuously for about a month now. He has seven teeth and is working on Number Eight. For the last few nights he has refused to sleep except while actually latched onto the breast - the second he comes off he cries. DP is sleeping in the spare room. I am about to give up completely and buy a one way ticket to Peru.

On the plus side Orbit eats for Britain - someone was asking how much the babies eat, well he eats: a bowl of porridge and half a banana for breakfast, snack of apple rice cakes (two) mid morning, lunch something like chicken casserole or scrambled egg and toast (he'll polish off two toast quarters and some handfuls of egg), followed by a bowl of yogurt and fruit puree mixed up, and then pasta and tomato sauce and cheese for tea - about five or ten twirls, followed by a kiwi or a pear.

He's still bf about five or six times a day, plus most of the night. I don't think we can afford to feed this child!

Boff if I had to go to any kind of meeting right now I'd cry. Can't imagine how you're working and still surviving.

Bicnod the pasteurisation process can end up caramelising the jarred purees a bit, which makes them taste sweeter than the original ingredients, maybe that's why O likes them?

Swali sorry to hear about house troubles - fingers crossed it all happens soon! we have to be out of our house by March, I saw a place I liked the other day and DP is going to see it on Thursday, REALLY hope he likes it as he's being really really difficult and keeps googling houses we can't afford/too far away/too ridiculously run down.

BebeBOO hope Boo's nose is ok now - DS1 sometimes gets nosebleeds when he's had a cold.

Sorry, can't do any more catching up, need to be horizontal

kazkissofdeath · 27/10/2009 21:06

I think i have riled 'dailymailnamechanger' on another thread. Quite scared, but holding my own (I think). Lol. I shall be brave. The world of mumsnet outside this thread is scary. It is every fanjo warrior for herself. Fanjo Power!!!! (sounds like that is some cleaning product along the lines of cillit bang)

Guimuahahahahahaaaaaaa · 27/10/2009 21:16

euuughhhhh getting on my nerves now! I am here king>> here could be being unreasonable but she seems sooo quick to jump down peoples throats!!!

Guimuahahahahahaaaaaaa · 27/10/2009 21:55

Linky not right.

I think she's is agreeing that you are right 'morally' IYSWIM, but when it comes down to it, it unfortunately doesn't work like that. I think we are quite lucky with our parental leave at work.

OP posts:
Guimuahahahahahaaaaaaa · 27/10/2009 21:56

Kaz's argy bargy

OP posts:
kazkissofdeath · 27/10/2009 22:01

ooh poo linkys. I dont think she is agreeing. I think she is playing the matyr card personally. she seems to try and stir things up on every thread she is on and always seems to flame the op. This site is really awful for trying put down people all the time (except this thread of course). and it annoys me. people come on here with genuine concerns, worries and problems and people try and put them down. Sure everyone is entilted to there opinion but i thought that the whole point of this site was to support each other. Hence I feel that whilst not necessarly possible I feel i have tried at least to give some constructive information which might help the original poster (the wesbite i linked to) rather than just saying 'tough get on with it'.

Sorry just realised I ranted (lucky you know me!)

Guimuahahahahahaaaaaaa · 27/10/2009 22:06

Yes, I agree about the martyr thing! And with your info. She was definitely being a bit 'I can't have time off, why should you?'!
What happens if you are, say, a single mum with no relatives/ friends to help, and you have to go into hosp? Social services I suppose

OP posts:
kazkissofdeath · 27/10/2009 22:10

I agree with that point but that was not the op situation.

I feel really lucky to have the support that I have and i could not imagine how hard it is to try and do all that alone.

god forbid social services.... I think thats whats a bit sad about todays society we dont connect with people enough ( i am soooo guilty of that) but in olden days people used to talk to their neighbours and know people in there communities that would help in a situation like that. It has all changed now.

Guimuahahahahahaaaaaaa · 27/10/2009 22:12

No, no, that was just my mind wandering off on a tangent!

(Oi loikes a tangent oi does)

OP posts:
lou031205 · 27/10/2009 22:14

Guimuahahha... thanks for your invite. Hope all is ok with you ladies. Isla is doing just fine, sitting pretty, eating what she can grab off of plates (very good stealth work) and has found her (rather screechy) voice.

kingbeat23 · 27/10/2009 22:19

Actually Gui, i dont think it might be a tangent tbh...it all links into the same thing although on another level.

Yup, Kaz, youve hit a sore spot there and thats why i think ive posted the most amount on this thread, you guys get my sarcasm and dry humour....alot of people get so unbeliveably upset here, and youre right this is what it was made for, help, support, advice and opinions. My DP works, I will be in Jan, I live in london and although I have friends near me..I think I have 1 that would be able to help if anything happened to either myself or dp. My parents and his dont live in this country and my siblings live a distance away, makes it a scary thought eh??

My other friend, who is a single mum, when she is ill ends up staying at home with all the kids and near on barricading herself in, surely not good no???

kazkissofdeath · 27/10/2009 22:19

hello lou!!

( i think i am gonna give up and go to bed cos i dont think she really gives a hoot and just likes arguing personally. And altough i love a good debate i cant be bothered...)

kazkissofdeath · 27/10/2009 22:23

ahhh sorry king xpost. Just stay with us then king we are all nice on here and very non-judgemental.
(i dont normally rant on here promise. I just dont like seeing people put down)

Guimuahahahahahaaaaaaa · 27/10/2009 22:23

Hey Lou! Picturing Isla doing a 'Look over there Mummy' and then stealing stuff from your plate! I have to hide from Hugo if I'm eating cake/ Hobnobs/ other things he really shouldn't have - if he sees me eating anything he wants some of it, and gets very angry when I don't give it to him!

You may all have come across these before, but as DH had tears rolling down his face laughing at these earlier, I thought I'd post them to give you a giggle!

The following questions were set in last year's GCSE

A. The body is consisted into 3 parts - the brainium, the borax and the abdominal cavity. The brainium contains the brain, the borax contains the heart and lungs and the abdominal cavity contains the five bowels: A, E, I, O and U (What the !!???)

Q. What is the fibula?
