A homage to the Nightmare Before Christmas song. DH obsessed with that film, we all (DD included) have to watch it on Christmas Eve.

OP posts:

OOOOO forgot to sy, stayed up till 1am designing a calendar for us and the gp's. Photobox have 3 for 2 on. I want a diary now too, but couldn't face all the uploading.

spookywoollenhat · 01/11/2009 12:31

the uploading is a complete bore, isn't it? doing calendars here too, through iphoto. i reckon it's going to take me another two weeks to suffer through all the messing about...

stripeywoollenhat · 01/11/2009 21:46

has everybody left???

SherryMerryLennipillar · 01/11/2009 21:53

Nooooo, what would I do with myself if I left??

stripeywoollenhat · 01/11/2009 21:58

mn was broken this morning and i didn't know what to do with my hangover self...

SherryMerryLennipillar · 01/11/2009 22:06

It should be a criminal offence for MN to be broken. Think of all the hormonal women floating around with nothing to do and the crimes they could commit...

So you reminded me to start the Christmas calendars and now I'm suffering the upload thing. I am secretly cursing you all, but at least I have no bandwidth left to shop with.

moosemama · 01/11/2009 22:14

I am here, had a busy, but productive day sorting things out and moving things around at home, so no time for mnetting.

The boys have been 'junk modelling' today with all the more interesting shaped food packaging I have been collecting over the past couple of months. Ds1 made a rather fetching robot and ds2 made something quite unidentifiable that he is hugely proud of.

Dd still isn't sleeping, another nightmare night last night, followed by a day with only one 20 minute nap! I think we will be resorting to calpol again tonight, as she is crying out and whimpering during what little sleep she has.

Scotia, gosh walking at 8 months! Dd is getting up on her hands and feet regularly now, but doesn't seem all that interested in pulling herself up on the furniture. She can sort of crawl (although its sort of a 3 legged crawl rather than the usual 4 ) but tends to bum-shuffle instead and boy is she fast when she get's going!

treedeLivingDeadery · 01/11/2009 22:15

Rofl at restrictive bandwidth.

My pushchair dies, so I bought another.

Simple.

Argh!!! It was £150 on Ebay and exactly what I wanted but still, who do I think I am? I bought new knickers today too, that felt as wild, if not more, as they are certainly for me. Add that to the calendars and one or two other incidents and I might just be back to work earlier at this rate!

SherryMerryLennipillar · 01/11/2009 22:18

I wuv you Tree. You admit to all the shopping accidents I deny but still have.

moosemama · 01/11/2009 22:19

Ooo! What pushchair did you get Tree? I am a little disturbed by how obsessed interested I can get about pushchairs.

Not doing calendars here, gp's will be getting framed pics of dd from our holiday, as she looked positively edible in some of them.

SherryMerryLennipillar · 01/11/2009 22:23

My carpel tunnel is back - injections must have worn off. Dammit. Do you think it will go away soon?

Pics sound fab Moose, I much prefer doing photos for GPs and GGPs but have given pictures for last two years so fancy a change. Usually do DH a calendar for work so cheaper to order a few the same. I am a bit ashamed of how many pictures there are of DS and how few of DD recently. Almost 3 is a very awkward photographic age, she grimaces as she does her 'photo face', I'm going to have to try and get some au naturel ones this week.

moosemama · 01/11/2009 22:26

Was your carpel tunnel pregnancy related Lenni? If so, its got to settle down soon surely?

Some of the nicest pictures we have of the dcs are ones where they didn't know we were taking them. I took lots on the beach while they were digging and building sandcastles etc and they have come out beautifully, all sort of arty and atmospheric. Of course the gorgeous clear blue sky and beautiful location helps a smidgeon too.

moosemama · 01/11/2009 22:28

Had quite a few shopping accidents myself yesterday and another couple on ebay last night!

Am currently having bakewell tart accidents with the cakes I bought for ds2's lunch box treats this week. (Serves me right for not getting around to homebaking I suppose.)

treedeLivingDeadery · 01/11/2009 22:29

Oooo we have this too Lenni. 3-5 is the pits for pics, unless they are just playing and zooming about.

Got a replacement Jane powertrack. I love it so. Its really light, easy to fold and I can push it one handed and the matrix seat means she can face me till a good 1 [dd1 faced me till nearly 2 in it as she was a dot]. Loving this pushchair. Sigh.

New one navy so loving that too. My old one was beige, and it looked like an old couch in a student house. It looked like it needed a 99p Ikea throw over it, you know?

stripeywoollenhat · 01/11/2009 22:31

no more shopping accidents at my house - we have ordered new windows, so obviously now the boiler has died

moose, sorry about poor dd, hope calpol helps. c seems to be teething again but it's not so terrible this time

treedeLivingDeadery · 01/11/2009 22:36

Bloody hell Lenni didn't say - crappy crap your carpel tunnel is back. What will you do? Ar eyou in the ijections now or did I dream those up completely?

Feck feckity about the boiler. New windows sound good though, what ya getting?

Home made bakewell tart. Droooool. Have only done it once and it was lush. Why have I only done it once??????? Do you do own pastry or buy and roll, or buy case [be honest.....

moosemama · 01/11/2009 22:37

Have heard good things about Jane powertracks.

Dd can still face me in her car seat as she is a couple of pounds off the weight limit and her head is nowhere near the top of the seat, but I got nasty comments off some of the mums at the school, so ended up putting her facing forwards. Wish I was braver and able to just ignore busybodies.

moosemama · 01/11/2009 22:43

Noooo the bakewells aren't home made, they are co-op packet! We have them because I didn't get around to baking for the boys lunch boxes tomorrow (we have gluten free ones for ds1 as bakewells are his favourite).

If I am doing something with pastry, I usually buy chilled, ready rolled as I loathe getting the kitchen all floury for rolling out and having to clean up afterwards. I will have to make my own now though, with gluten free flour.

Stripey, has the boiler completely given up? We had a new one just before dd was born and we ended up using significantly less gas with the boiler on 24/7 last winter than we did during the previous winter, when we only had the heating on after the boys came home from school!

treedeLivingDeadery · 01/11/2009 22:44

Oh blimey what did they say? biatches.

I'd be your partner in crime Moose as I bought a loola when dd was 2 just so she could face me. Which she did whenever she was in a pushchair, as will dd2. Sometimes she faced out if we were having a big day out. I would swap back and forth during the day.

moosemama · 01/11/2009 22:45

Just remembered Tree, you are like me with the love of all things marzipan aren't you.

My childminder used to make home made bakewells for us to have after school. We used to eat them warm with a glass of milk, I've never forgotten the comforting feeling they gave me and my boys seem to have inherited the addiction.

treedeLivingDeadery · 01/11/2009 22:47

Oh my

That really does hit all the right notes doesn't it. Maybe tomorrow will be bakewell day. I wonder if I have enough ground almonds in. A trip to supermarket is out of the question. Can't bear it.
Mind you would need to buy pastry. I have never ever made pastry and am totally scared of it. If it wasn't as good as Betty's in York I'd be mifed. As that isn't likely I will stick to frozen and put up with it. Stubborn!!!

stripeywoollenhat · 01/11/2009 22:49

lenni - sorry about carpal tunnel - hope it clears up soon.

tree, we are replacing our crap 1980s single glazed aluminium framed windows with wood framed low-e blah blah blah (there's a level of detail to which i cannot go with windows, i've discovered). am very sad that we can't afford to get reproductions of the orginal windows, but am still exceedingly pleased to see the back of the unbelievably crap ones that we've got.

moosemama · 01/11/2009 22:49

They went on about how she wasn't a baby anymore! Unbelievable! Then did the whole anti babies in car seats lecture (it takes 20 minutes in total for me to fetch the dss from school and thats only if I arrive early and hang around in the playground).

It started when another mum had a baby during the summer holidays and she became the 'new' baby to coo over, rendering dd 'a big girl now'. Stooopid women I know, but I am so crap at confrontation. (Don't know why really as I was a proper oppositional child who would argue with anyone about anything and loved to share my opinions on everything. A bit like ds1 now I come to think of it! )

moosemama · 01/11/2009 22:52

Stripey, we had 1920s metal frames when we moved in here - the condensation was unbelievable, we literally had a waterfall off the living room windowsill every morning and had to swathe the place with towels before we went to bed every night to try and soak the worst of it up.

We now have practical, yet hideous upvc, but in our defence we asked for wood and our 'landlady' (for want of a better name) said no without even looking into it.

Still, at least we are warm and dry these days.

treedeLivingDeadery · 01/11/2009 22:57

stripey - sound mint. We had a windown turned into a door and I cut the corner and had uPVc. I hate it. Few hundred extra I could have a door to enjoy opening. Instead I have that horrible thing. Gah.

I think I have had a few people try this on me Moose, I tell them the one about the mum who found her child in a seizure and hadn't noticed till a passer by told her, as she couldn't see him. Usually stops them mid stride. Its a true story too. Not that I have anything at all against children facing forward. At all. I just liked dd facing me for gossips I do have something against bullies in playgrounds though. Grrr.

No doubt dd2 will insist on facing outwards just to show her individuality
