Hi, Welcome to the new thread, the one where we can't drink a cup of tea in peace (there you go, we could have used that for a title!!)

I was in bodyshop yesterday and M trashed the place. Luckily the sales assistant thought she was sweet as she pulled things off displays and legged it out the shop with jars of body butter (several times)!!, cue me legging it after her with a handful of makeup . Luckily there were no store detectives aroud. She also tried to wear every shoe within her reach at the shoe shop.

No need for the . I hate the cold.

Debs75 · 11/12/2009 18:51

We are letting Robyn use a spoon for her custard pots and she is doing quite well. She like to use a fork but shecan't spear food very well and spent 5 minutes yesterday chasing some carrot around her tray. When I speared it for her she got really annoyed.
I think the love for cutlery when BLW is they see you using it so want to copy, plus they are confident with the food they are eating and know they won't be forced to eat. It's just a natural progression, and very hit and messy.

Got a letter through for the SF vaccine for Robyn. DS has had his as he is at a special needs school and I can have mine if I want (asthma) not sure if I want Robyn to have it, |I keep putting off the normal vaccines. If I am going to have it I should protect the rest of the family.

Have a good time in vancouver Star I am very as well. I would love to take the kids somewhere different. Have fun

Getting my car back tomorrow am so happy it has been 3 weeks since DS broke it. As predicted I had just put some more petrol in the courtesy car before she rang to say mine was ready. Don't care tho it will be nice to have some room again.

mamamuffin · 11/12/2009 19:32

christmasgoblin · 11/12/2009 19:39

splish could it be molars? dd2 cut one already. last week i think.

oh, it is foxy the christmasgoblin, everyone.

FuckingNinkyNonk · 11/12/2009 19:42

I don't usually swear but somehow I'm in the mood for a fuck-off name and took inspiration from the toddler swearing thread.

It makes me laugh to think of a toddler saying it that's all. It's kind of innocent.

digitalgirl · 11/12/2009 19:51

At least you're guaranteed a White Christmas starlight.

MIL was only here for lunch yesterday but I think I know why yesterday was such a mare...DS has cut a pair of molars, I seem to have started my period today. Baby in pain, mum with PMT. Not a good combo.

So much for super fertility post-MC. However, wasn't expecting a period for ages - so am glad I can now start a proper cycle.

Boobs have gone right down now. Just the right side still has a few lumps now. I'm now too small for my pre-pregnancy bras. Will they plump up again or do I need to get myself re-fitted?

splish poor you, could it be molars too? I tend to give Calpol when all else has failed, assuming all inconsolable behaviour is down to teething.

Have started making Christmas stockings. Have got as far as cutting the material. But need to cut the padding and the lining. Then the serious bit of sewing. I have borrowed my mum's sewing machine but have no idea how to use it. I got a C in textiles 20 years ago.

Pacita · 11/12/2009 21:13

Hello all, I've been a shameless lurker, but haven't posted for ages, so the thread dropped off! I can't have that - I need to know what you are all up to. DG, that's rather shit about the job. I hope something suitably exciting pops up soon. I myself am working in the most boring job ever, just because it gives me lots of flexibility to juggle childcare. It's not easy, and sometimes I feel that my career life will never recover. Splish, fingers crossed that this bad sleeping spell ends soon. It may well be the next tooth coming. Becaroo, have a blast - maybe a medicinal tipple will bring back your energy! And fuckingninkynonk (LOL) have a wonderful Christmas. I'll be off to Spain myself soon to see the parents.

Cutlery is a big hit here. D eats with spoons and forks, and resorts to hands when required. I've not consciously BLW but have always offered finger foods as well as mush, and right now he eats the same as us, although I tend to chop things like meatballs or chicken into small pieces that he can spear with the fork or spoon up. I would not worry too much about a baby wanting to be fed. If the mouth is open asking for food, she's leading the way anyway.

Teething here too, which means we've just had a few days of never ending grumpyness. Luckily, today was a lot better.

I'm down to one feed a day, which I could take or leave, quite frankly, but I rather keep it up as it's first thing in the morning and it means 20 extra minutes in bed, even if D has taken to kick me in the gut as he suckles.

Today, as I was deeply involved in a phone conversation with a friend, Diego fished out a pot of sudo cream, opened it, smeared it all over his face, snorted some, ate some, then smeared his clothes, the carpet, and surrounding furniture and cushions. When it became intolerably sticky, he opened a drawer and wiped his hands in the clean sheets, towels and blankets therein. It was carnage. It was laundry to the power of N. I was only alerted by the eery silence coming from his room. And you should have seen his face - a white mask with big guilty eyes. That'll teach me.

No walking here either. I guess it's no biggie, but my back is beginning to hurt because he's rather chunky now.

Have a lovely weekend, ladies.

digitalgirl · 11/12/2009 21:28

Hahaaaaa pacita DS has done the Sudocrem face! He wailed and wailed like a ghost when he couldn't get the taste out of his mouth. Thankfully was strapped into buggy at the time (DH gave it to him to play with to distract him while he was strapped in, then forgot to take it off him).

Pacita · 11/12/2009 23:12

Poor A, digi. The weird thing is that D has sudocream fetish and he seems to like it!

becaroo · 12/12/2009 10:19

pacita God, thats made me laugh!!!! Diego sounds like a handful

Whsipers...I love the smell of sudocrem

mamamuffin · 12/12/2009 10:33

it's going to be a fun weekend

Jeez, ninja! What happens to a baby post mmr and with pox? Does not sound like fun... Sending healing vibes

ninja · 12/12/2009 19:22

You know what, she climbs ontochairs, climbs onto the toilet, takes the toothpaste from the sink and starts eating it, hides behind curtains and drinks lots of milk

She seems fine but maybe a little clingier.I think the fact I'm still feeding her probably makes the chicken pox a bit milder.

She has got one in her bits though poor thing

I did wonder whether to mention to the nurse that she might be going down with it as all the childminders' others children around here have had it, but I thought it sounded a bit silly, then the next day ....

I must summon the energy to go and put her to bed, then a thai takeaway yum yum!

OP posts:
Pacita · 12/12/2009 19:49

ninja, if your one and my one got together it would be dangerous!

I've been given as an early xmas present a little fleece sleep suit, how do they work? Do they go on top of the pijamas instead of a sleeping bag like a grobag? That would be handy!

notcitrus · 12/12/2009 20:18

becaroo - was my ds who had the swine flu jab - he's been fine. Well, except for teething horribly - he had 6 teeth 2 weeks ago and now has 15! Might as well get it over and done with I suppose...

He also had one welt on his chin a week ago which looked like the mysterfy rash he had a while back, so as I was seeing GP anyway that day I asked for a note to confirm this, to stop nursery worrying. Then 3 days later he got another one also below his lip. Cue washing all his bedding, his cot, and ALL his toys and anything else he puts to his mouth during the day...

Finally finished, then nursery were worried about the scabbing on his chin on Thurs especially as he had a poo explosion at nap time - they had to bathe him. Still, seemed fine yesterday. Today, he has diarrhoea and tummy ache as do I - such fun! And another red spot on the chin but looks different. Pharmacist says looks like impetigo and he should see the GP on Monday before going to nursery. Of course work still haven't sorted out my accesible laptop so can't work from home. MrNC is away for the weekend so it's extra fun.

Been wanting to buy a Christmas tree all week and haven't. Still, at least our families mean it about not taking Crimbo seriously. And I survived work's do - wasn'tg sorry to leave early to put up A; they're a very hard-drinking crowd!

christmasgoblin · 13/12/2009 08:22

hi everyone. DD2 hasn't done hte sudocreme thing yet but dd1 did it and repeated it later with Metanium. she also did it with a expensive pot of face cream.

I spent half of friday night in A&E with dd2 as she's been unwell for a few days but her temp spiked on friday night and then vomited 2x in an hour. I went to the more local health centre first adn when the tried to give her ibuprofen orally she vomited it back up (as I predicted - smug.) they called for an ambulance to take her to the main hospital 12 miles away.

soo, while there we also had to evacuate due to a fire alarm going off. i tried to maintain my humour what with the drunks who had fallen over ebb and flow of humanity standing outside with us taking it as an opporunity to have a fag too.

But the paracetamol suppository at A&E kicked in. She slept well through all the commotion and they let us go home at 2.30am.

Classic - the doctor paediatrician recommended that we start fluids the next day and try light meals from lunchtime so I said 'she is breastfed so she can have that instead' to which he responded 'well, we normally recommend that you give them light fluids first....' so I tuned out and gave my serenely indifferent smile.

christmasgoblin · 13/12/2009 08:26

impressed with 15 teeth NC. will have to go rummage around dd2's mouth later and do a count.

will be making a couple cards today with dd1 for her teachers and the TA. I will also make them dinky banana bread for them too. I hope they'll appreciate the sentiment.

Pacita · 13/12/2009 09:46

That sounds like rather an eventful evening, Christmasgoblin. The kind that it takes me a week to recover from. I have to say that I'm impressed by your calm state of mind! And I really hope DD2 is ok.

I do wonder though, what did that doctor paediatrician thought milk breast was if not a light fluid... Something more akin to a burger and chips, perhaps?

mamamuffin · 13/12/2009 11:26

Honestly! what a night you had goblin

We are still on 6 teeth here!
Nine teeth in two weeks poor baby Nc Ninja hope your dd pox is on the mend.

I fear illness is doing the rounds baby e has the winter vomiting bug. He has been properly sick about 6 times since tea time yesterday. He has never had proper vomit before only baby refluexey type. This is something else. My washing is piling up. A long day ahead x

digitalgirl · 13/12/2009 15:57

christmasgoblin a&e on a weekend night is no place for babies. They should have a separate a&e for drunken twats and their self-inflicted injuries.

DS is asleep but am pretty sure he's coming to the end of a long nap - the moment I leave his side to pop upstairs I'm sure he'll wake up. I should be doing something useful, like laundry or dishes or sewing those blasted Xmas stockings.

Been a bit of an eventful day. Visited my uncle (distant cousin) who I've not seen in over 10 years. Then on the way home heard a man calling for help. Couldn't work out where it was coming from at first, then realised he was stuck at his car in a carpark just off the main road. I had to cross a busy road to get closer, by which time two men started running over towards him. And another lady came over to help. I asked if I should call an ambulance and they said yes. Turned out the bonnet had slammed shut on his hand. The men managed to free him but his hand looked broken. Had to leave before the ambulance got there, but am hoping he didn't have to wait too long. I think they come pretty quickly if you're elderly. The lady went to fetch his wife and she looked really frail, poor thing. Feel bad about leaving, but it had started to rain and DS was in the buggy - and there were about 3 other people there with him.

Just goes to show, that even if it looks like other people are helping it's always best to ask if they need more help. When I saw those men running towards him I nearly walked away thinking they'd got it covered.

Anyway, who's watching the x factor final tonight? DSis is going to be on for the final group song. Olly or Joe to win? DSis wants Olly, but I think perhaps Joe has the better voice.
