Hi, Welcome to the new thread, the one where we can't drink a cup of tea in peace (there you go, we could have used that for a title!!)

I was in bodyshop yesterday and M trashed the place. Luckily the sales assistant thought she was sweet as she pulled things off displays and legged it out the shop with jars of body butter (several times)!!, cue me legging it after her with a handful of makeup . Luckily there were no store detectives aroud. She also tried to wear every shoe within her reach at the shoe shop.

Feeling much better today so it probably wasn't flu and just a cold must of been having a man moment. Luckily Robyn hasn't caught it, she is still her happy self.
Also we are finally getting somewhere withthe sleeping. She was being grouchy last week and would not settle when I BF her to sleep. After the 4th time of arching her back and squealing i told her 'if you do that again you can go in your cot.' She did it again so I laid her in her cot and she rolled over and went to sleep, and didn't wake up for 4 hours. Have managed to do this almost every night since. And she is only waking once or maybe twice.
She is still a total boobhound during the day tho. Was hoping to be stopped by christmas but tht ain't going to happen

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 07/12/2009 11:57

Glad to hear you're feeling better Debs.

M only has 3 feeds a day now but if I'm around and he doesn't get it when he expects it he goes banana's. However if dh is looking after him and I'm not around he couldn't care less.

I keep meaning to ask, has anyone dared let their dc loose with cutlery yet? M is ready and able to feed himself with a spoon but I really can't be arsed with it all

Most of his meals he can eat with his hands, but if it's not the right texture I spoon feed him, but I'm sure he's able to do it himself, albeit veeeeeerrrrrrryyyyyyy slowly and messily!

Debs75 · 07/12/2009 13:44

Robyn likes to use a spoon and fork but she isn't very good at spearing the food so i put it on the fork. She has a huge smile when she manages it, then she usually goeas back to her fingers. It will come in time I suppose. She doesn't really like being spoon-fed so we only do that for yogurts and soups

I think they are denim with a really really high lycra content in because they stretch just like leggings.

They have the contrast stitch on them too so they look more like jeans. Next time you're walking down the street check out the teenage girls who look like they're wearing very very skinny jeans, and they're probably jeggings!

Go on Starlight, you know you want a pair

eandz · 07/12/2009 16:36

starlight
jean leggings are called jeggings. and they look horrible (i think) on everyone! the wet look leggings are quite slimming though.

i love leggings.

Hopefully · 07/12/2009 16:48

Ponymum you poor thing, how horrific for you! I would have been so furious.

I am on the hunt for new wardrobe. I have two skirts, on pair of jeans a cardigan or two, and a couple of t-shirts stretched beyond all recognition from ginormo-BFing-boobs. Since I am now BELOW pre-pregnancy weight (OK, by 2lb, but that still counts!) and have been given a surprise bit of money by my marvellous step father, I am giving myself permission to shop. But I have forgotten how to be remotely stylish and am very scared of all the fashion! Maybe I'll go lurk on Style and Beauty for a while...

eandz · 07/12/2009 16:59

hopefully
wow! am impressed and a little envious of your post baby figure. have you decided where your going to go shopping?

i still look like a man.

ninja · 07/12/2009 17:00

wetlook leggins can't be good - go on surprise me by linking to some lumpy legs looking fab in them and I might be convinced

mamamuffin · 07/12/2009 17:03

Hi guys. I might have to invest in these weggins. I instantly dismissed them before.
Poor you pony I am so shocked at your dd treatmaent. I hope she is improved now.
Sorry got to go, I am off to a christingle service now I never stop. Still in plaster these crutches are exhausting but at least my bingo wings are toning up x

Hopefully · 07/12/2009 17:17

Post baby figure largely down to D&V bug a few weeks ago, but, you know... Have vague ambitions to buy this dress. I love knitted dresses. And I'm going to buy a new pair of flat black boots, since I seem to spend my ENTIRE life walking around with the pram to entertain T.

I have huuuuge butch arm muscles after months of lugging T round. He weighs 30lb... I can confirm, though, that my didymos sling is fab. T is really ill at the moment (for a change ) and didn't want to be put down today, so I put him in the sling earlier (haven't used it for a few months) and had him in it for about 4 hours (in two two-hour stints) and don't feel even slightly achey. Thoroughly recommended.

DebiTheScot · 07/12/2009 19:18

not normally a fan of jumper dresses but that is really nice. I could never imagine spending that much on 1 item of clothing though!
A woman at toddlers this morning was wearing what looked like a hand knitted Aran jumper dress that had no shape to it and just looked like a jumper that someone had got carried away with knitting and made it 3 times longer than it should have been.

I like leggings but only with tops long enough to cover my bum and somehow even though everyone seems to be wearing them I couldn't find any when I went shopping the other week.
And can you wear black leggings and brown boots or will that just look silly?

eandz · 07/12/2009 19:31

i think the rule of boots should be-- as long as the boots match your coat and hat then they don't have to match the rest of your outfit.....

but i think the real rule: if it's chesnut brown/taupe/stone colored browns will work with black, but not dark brown.

but really, wear what you want.

DebiTheScot · 07/12/2009 20:42

they're dark brown and I don't think they match but can't see myself in any other colour of legging. Oh well, will just have to buy another pair of skinny jeans instead

Meglet · 07/12/2009 23:19

Oh ponymum. You get more than your fair share of hospital visits don't you . I'm shocked to hear the hospital didn't take better care of your DD. If you get the time you could complain to the patient liason service, might give the ward a kick up the backside. Hope DD is much better very soon and your DH takes the pressure off when he gets home.

The dc's got their nursery report today and I'm relieved to say they are both doing well. Its all box ticking for the early years foundation stage paperwork but nice to have it on paper all the same.

I purchased some grey leggings today (to wear under a dress for a smart / casual xmas meal). And while in chanel Primark I saw treggings WTF??????? Its all getting too complicated now. However I can report that dorothy perkins has good jeggings, nice and thick and very jean-like. In fact, I like lots of dotty P's this season, they have some pretty floral mini-dresses for over jeans that I'll get if they are in the sale after xmas.

The dc's meal times are turning into a chimps tea party. DS has started throwing food across the table because he says he wants DD to catch it in her mouth. And DD sits there giggling, food everywhere .

Did anyone else watch oceans 11 this evening? Brad pitt looks so young in it, that's before he had several kids to age him! Although I still would .

eandz · 07/12/2009 23:46

whats a tregging?!

skinny jeans are always the ultimate best though.

Hopefully · 08/12/2009 08:39

It is a hideous amount Debi. They're having December offers, so I'm hoping a discount on ladieswear will come up at some point... Also have birthday in a couple of days, so might get some more cash from a parent, therefore making me feel less guilty about spending the money my stepdad generously gave us

I am v scared of skinny jeans - my legs are better than they were, but I still have disproportionately large thighs (I like to call them 'shapely', but if we're being honest, they're more 'thunder'). Skirts and dresses are generally better than trousers for me.

Can't decide whether to send T to the childminder this morning. He slept through last night and is better than yesterday, but still definitely not right, lots of snot and snuffling. It will either distract him or make him much worse...

imoscarsmum · 08/12/2009 09:06

meglet oh I definitely still would!!

ponymum I feel for you and wish i could say something to help but you are clearly a strong woman who will soldier on for your babies. Shocked at the nurse offering a pillow FFS!!

Mealtimes here either go really well or terrible. Charlotte eats like a bird (and still fits into some of her 6-9m clothes) but is healthy and happy and what she does eat is good stuff (she eats more fruit every day than i do!!)
Last night we tried her with fish soup brought back from France with cheese on toast and she ate the lot. I was amazed as even I thought the soup was an acquired taste.
Other nights, we'll offer her a yummy roast dinner (my fave) and she just eats the veg and leaves the meat and potatoes. And when she's finished, every time without fail she will throw the rest on the floor for the cat . She only drinks one bottle of cows milk a day so we try to include yogurt and cheese at most meals.

Someone mentioned cutlery. She will have a go at using her spoon (and can eat a small Plum fromage frais by herself now as the pot is small enough to hold) but we introduced a fork a few weeks ago and she's doing really well (apart from trying to use it to eat soup ). most of the time we stab the food for her and about half way through she'll go back to using her hands, but every so often she'll get the food herself.

Phew - stop gabbing girl - am off to work. ta ta.

DebiTheScot · 08/12/2009 11:49

meglet that mealtime story had me in hysterics . However when my ds1 starts up something similar I won't be laughing!
DS2 is hit and miss with food. He eats quite well but won't touch potato and isn't keen on rice or couscous. His most annoying trait is he acts desperate to get food- usually what's on other peoples plates- and then doesn't eat it when you give him it.

He can also eat a yoghurt himself without making too much mess and tries to stab things with a fork but then eventually gives up and goes back to fingers.

Off to see ds1 in his 1st nativity 'play' in a bit. He's Joseph [proud mummy smiley]

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 08/12/2009 11:59

Sounds like I need to get over myself and let ds loose with the cutlery!

treggings - the look of leggings but the feel of trousers (according to a google search)

I must admit I have been trawling the clothes shops and I'm really not taken with a lot of the stuff. I love a sequin and a sparkle in Winter .............. but not on every-bloody-thing. I think I'm going to hold off until the sales are done and the new stock is in before I get anymore clothes.

mamamuffin · 08/12/2009 13:18

Treggins whatever next. x

Ponymum · 08/12/2009 14:07

I am happy to report that DD is nearly completely recovered. And DH is home tomorrow. Timing!

Salmon fishcakes rule in the pony house. Luckily they are good morning sickness food too, so for lunch I usually put a couple in the oven and then DD and I share.

The only leggings I own are the ones for my pilates class. I cannot keep up with all this!

Starlight - I was thinkinng of you in Sainsbury's. They have muffing trays piled so high they are nearly falling off the shelves. Surely this is a sign?

Meglet · 08/12/2009 14:33

ponymum Once your DH is home is he back for Xmas? You need to put your feet up. When is your 20 week scan?

I've just done my usual job search for local government jobs and there are hardly any advertised at the moment. It's not working out very well with me having to work so far away from home (major stress, illness, DC's fighting for my attention etc) so I'm on a mission to work in town again. My petrol is paid for by work until May, so that will be crunch time when I have to start shelling out £20 a week on fuel.

debi I did have to choke back laughter when DS told me he was trying to feed DD across the table, very hard to tell them off and not giggle at the same time .

Hi all.

pony Am so sad about your experience at the hospital - sadly all to common IME The ward that ds1 was on when a very sick newborn was hellish. One of the nurses even told me "we arent set up for newborns" On a paediatric ward FFS!!!! Glad your dd is much better.

I have just had a phone call from the manager at the NHS Direct local centre that I rang/went to when Toby was really ill a couple of weeks ago....

I was sent a "random" questionaire last week asking about the level of service and I REALLY let them have it!....the nurse was so dismissive saying "oh, we've had loads of people ringing with the same thing tonight!" (dont care!) and told me to give a 14 month old baby with gastroenteritis immodium!!!!! {angry] Well, I am not a nurse, but I know that is incorrect and downright dangerous advice! Rang back 10 mins later and spoke to another nurse and she sent him to the em docs and then they sent him to A&E! The paeds at the hospital were horrified when I told them what I had been advised to do.

The lady I spoke to has read my account, listened to the original phone call and was really angry. She agreed that the nurse was dismissive and is a bit worried that I might take it further, I think. The nurse in question is being disciplined. Very frightening though...what if it was a 1st time mum who didnt know any better? Could have made a sick baby really sick

Well, at least they read these questionairres!

Dh downstairs with dc and it sounds like all hell is breaking loose, so better go......
