Hi, Welcome to the new thread, the one where we can't drink a cup of tea in peace (there you go, we could have used that for a title!!)

I was in bodyshop yesterday and M trashed the place. Luckily the sales assistant thought she was sweet as she pulled things off displays and legged it out the shop with jars of body butter (several times)!!, cue me legging it after her with a handful of makeup . Luckily there were no store detectives aroud. She also tried to wear every shoe within her reach at the shoe shop.

Meglet my not so D H thinks I have asperger tendencies too - he's a mental health nurse so does have some experience. (and though it was really funny when my reaction was to do an online AS diagnosis!!).

I'm very mathematical with a slightly obsessive side so it's quite possible I'm close to that part of the spectrum, tbh my dad and niece probably are too.

It's great - a fantastic excuse for not being socially adept all the time

I think I have the flu.
I feel absolutely terrible, achy muscles, cold, headaches, backache and so tired. I just want to go to bed but have to look after the DC's. DP is letting me go to bed for a few hours but I know I will hear the DC's shouting at each other.
On the plus side I have no appetite so might drop a few pounds.

I spoke to my DSIS on thursday and she said I am rather aspbergery (sp?!) but not crippling-y so, which I kind of knew. All the same I would be happier to be more 'normal'. Bloomin' Xmas party season coming up and even though I know everyone I will be seeing it still cripples me at the thought of having to socialise.

starlight I have been peeking at the SN boards and the more I saw about AS the more I thought I might be on to something. Glad you finally got the cream of tartar, I'm amazed it's so hard to find. I'm going to see if it's our supermarkets in case I ever need it.

XP's parents came round today. Thank God the DC's were on their best behaviour . They brought nice clothes for the DC's (practical + tasteful Tesco stuff) and toys, then the actual Xmas presents will be brought over just before Xmas . I shall be investigating conservatories, we need more space! How much does a small conservatory cost, £5-10K? Might be able to add it to the mortgage.

mamamuffin · 05/12/2009 15:50

Ok I will join you on the geekeness guys. I think Ag makes your more cleverer and specialer anyway!
Well my dh has been itching to go into work all day. I put my foot down as I thought it would be nice to spend a family day together. Dh was sulking all day as we have been unable to go anywhere, as I am still on crutches and ds1 has a temp ds2 has been asleep in the pram outside most of the day. He has finally gone to work he has left me to it. I know I should be grateful that he wants to provide as he keeps saying. But I am so bored and what about family time? Sorry for rant. Anyway I must see if I have any tarter stuff. Star I did email you??

I am still at the talk of leggings. Wet look or not, I would look a bloody sight in them!

Hurrah for another buyer debi, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

I have no idea how much a conservatory costs Meglet. Do lots of research though as quality can vary and if you want to use it as another room all year round you have to get the heating in it right.

mamamuffin · 05/12/2009 19:52

Thanks Star dh is back now and has opologised he said he just could not cope with being in all day. WTF I have been in mostly for four weeks. Anyway, he brought me a lovely indian takeaway as a peace offering and has promised a family day tomorrow. However, I have a list of jobs for including the outside christmas lights . He he.
I am not sure about the cost of conservatories but reckon there will be some good deals to be done after christmas meg
Leggins or weggins
I cant wear them either il2 .
Out of interest what is your job star you know everything me thinks ??
Enjoy saturday night girlies xxx

starlight at this rate I will come round your house brandishing my muffin tin and make some muffins for you . Made some this afternoon actually.

Just because I own weggings it doesn't mean I'm going to suit them, but there will be alcohol involved at the work do so I might not care after a while. And the rest of them are all tattooed up to eyeballs and in punk stuff so I will look terribly modest in comparison.

mamamuffin glad your DH sucked up to you after leaving you on your own. I never thought about looking for conservatories after xmas when they are desperate for customers .

Wanders in, bleary-eyed after the week from hell. DH is away, I've got morning sickness, a horrible cold, and DD ended up in hospital on Wednesday with bronchiolitis. She is well on the mend now but it has been truly horrible and I have not been coping AT ALL.

We had several nights in a row when she simply screamed non-stop, and days of constant distressed crying, coughing, vomitting (both of us, actually). Initially the GP thought it was a throat virus, but the next day it was definitely on the lungs so she sent us to hospital for a chest x-ray. Once we got there the paediatrician declared it was bronchiolitis and said we were in for another bad night. At this point I was overcome with morning sickness, plus the heat of the hospital and I nearly fainted on the doctor! He found out I was on my own at home so said he decided to admit DD for the night "for your sake as you are not up to looking after her." OK, I suppose I was bawling my eyes out and falling off my chair with exhaustion, but honestly...

Of course, I had no night time supplies for either of us, and DD was getting more and more stressed by the environment. The nurse told me "Go and have a rest, I'll look after DD and she'll be absolutely fine." So I did, but after a while I could still hear DD screaming from the other end of the ward so obviously had to come back to see if I could suggest anything to the nurse. What did I find? DD ON HER OWN crying and distressed, with one leg stuck through the bars of the cot, and no staff anywhere to be seen!!

I picked her up, went straight to the doctor and told him I was discharging her and we were going home. I was like an enraged mother bear. I was convinced we would both get some sleep at home (as opposed to none on the ward) so they checked her stats one last time and reluctantly agreed to let us go. I was so angry (and tired and emotional and scared) but managed to drive home 45 mins through the fog and rain at 11pm and get us both safely into bed for some much needed sleep. Mother's instincts right again - she's been on the mend ever since.

I am counting the days until DH is back though. I am running on empty here.

DebiTheScot · 06/12/2009 15:16

oh my goodness pony That's awful Thought hospitals were meant to be caring. Hope she carries on picking up.
When is your dh back? Is there anyone nearby who can give you some help? Must be hard not having your family near.

Ponymum · 06/12/2009 15:30

He's back on Wednesday. I have got help during the days but the challenge of looking after a sick child on my own at night with morning sickness is clearly a bit much atm. Only three more sleeps.

Oh, and do you want to hear about the brilliant paediatric nurse?

  1. I said I had no bedding for DD, she said, no problem, I'll get it. She came back with a huge adult's PILLOW and put that in DD's cot! I said, she's 14 months old. She said, oh, does she not use a pillow?
  2. I asked for some milk for DD. She came back with milk the temperature of a cup of tea! I didn't even want to test it on my hand as I knew I would burn myself if I did.

I am pretty confident that no matter how exhausted I am, I can at least look after my DD better than that!

eandz · 06/12/2009 15:57

Ponymum

absolutely shocked at the boiling milk!! I hope when your DH gets back, he'll be able to give you a day or two for yourself.

Weggings/Leggings look good on mostly everyone. I don't think I've even seen a fat person look bad in them. (while checking myself out from behind). try them out girls, you'll be surprised how young and tight your legs and butts look.

Ponymum

I hope things improve for you all soon.

Your hospital story is quite common. I think wards are so short staffed that they are only able to give a level of care which ensures they do the medical stuff, but not the caring side of looking after sick people.

It doesn't suprise me with the milk or pillow incidences. Nurses just aren't taught these kind of basic things and if they haven't got children they really don't know how to care for children and that is very apparant when the patient is a baby.

I would NEVER leave a baby or young child alone in a hospital.

Are you able to build some sort of back-up plan for times like this? It must be very tough with no family around you. If I was near you I'd be over in a shot.

hello peeps, just checking in!

quite a few of my friends have Aspergers (actually diagnosed, plus others who probably could be), because I met most of them online so there's lots of geeks who like written communication. I come out as potentially-aspie on online surveys but mainly because I'm deaf (similar communication issues).

Can't believe I only have 6 working days before Christmas...aaagh!

DebiTheScot · 06/12/2009 22:12

me too nc, how did that happen? Half term was only about 2 weeks ago wasn't it?

Debs75 · 06/12/2009 22:14

Ponymum that is terrible, she should of looked after DD better. I agree with ILTMIMI I would never leave a young child alone in hospital. There just isn't the level of car or staff that there was when we were kids.

Starlight if you are still having trouble getting a muffin tin I can get you one tomorrow and post it to you.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 07/12/2009 07:13

ponymum - I would just like to clarify that I was NOT being judgey about you leaving dd for a while in the hospital. Like you I expected the care would be top notch and that you could trust them, but soon realised that wasn't the case.

weggings = wet look leggings
jeggings = leggings that look like jeans
